Let me begin this post by saying: "U know what I'm sayin'?" If U don't then "U disgust me."
If U missed the latest episode of Esteban's "Break It Down" on Canespace TV then U have no idea what I am talking about. If you watched it then U know exactly what I mean. Enough said.
Yesterday the FAMU Rattlers and their Marching 100 Band entered The Shark to take on your University of Miami Hurricanes. After striking early for a 3-0 lead the Hurricanes applied a the necessary amount of anti-venin to ward off the pesky Rattlers by the final score of 48-16.
Canespacer UMike, who wrote the game day blog, was remarkably accurate in his prediction, missing it by only one point (48-17).
Administering the cure for the Canes was lead snake charmer Jacory Harris, who milked the Rattlers defense for 31 points. Harris went 16 of 24 for 217 yards and two TDs while playing about half of the game before being pulled by UM Head Coach Randy Shannon. "The Boss" was clearly not willing to risk "The Franchise" to injury.
So, in came true freshman back-up QB A.J. Highsmith to get his first real game, live action experience. Highsmith was 3 for 3 for 38 yards and looked solid if not spectacular in his role as caretaker over UM's potent offense.
Also making like long-time Miami Serpentarium director Bill Hasst and applying some anti-venin to FAMU were Mike James, Leonard Hankerson, Jimmy Graham, Thearon Collier, Lee Chambers, and Damien Berry who all scored touchdowns for Miami.
When it was over there were no reported bites or fatalities as a result of the impotent Rattlers or their weak attempts at attacking the Hurricanes on the field. In fact, the highlight of the day was the FAMU Marching 100 band who jammed, jived and juked their way through a special 30 minute post-game concert to entertain the fans of both teams. Now that's entertainment!
Next up for Miami is another upstart, in-State rival in University of Central Florida. The Canes hit the road to face the UCF Knights next Saturday night at 7:30 PM. Canespace will be on hand in force to witness the destruction of the Mickey Most team from Orlando. Join us won't U?
YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

It's actually not bad at all.
Only thing you have to get used to is, it will either go to black during commercial breaks or it will show the same annoying Gatorade commerical over and over ... also, I have no clue who the main announcer was for the game, but Danny Kanell was the color commentator - he actually made a funny comment about Travis Benjamin and how he killed FSU last year

Old skool.... Serpentarium that brings back memories.
It sure does A friend of mine painted that Cobra statue, every time I went by I thought of him. We lost touch after EAL shut down.

Hass had some nads... i couldnt be in the same room with a cobra or rattler without a big stick and rock to finish it off... he was bitten all the time....
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 11, 2009 at 02:05 PM
Wow, Bucs had a 4th and inches, Josh Johnson fumbles the snap, Eagles pick it up and run for a TD the other way - thank the refs for reversing the call .... 0-5, here comes the Bucs
Doesn't help that his WRs aren't catching the ball when he places it right in their chests. At least K2 and Antonio Bryant can catch (AB had one drop, but that's nothing compared to how many drops everyone else has)
Bucs will have a Top 3 pick next year in the draft
Come on down, Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy, Terrence Cody, Taylor Mays, Eric Berry

Posted by: SOUP | October 11, 2009 at 02:37 PM
86 - usually helps when they actually throw it to him, ha. It's funny to watch his face on the sidelines at times .. it's like he's imagining he's back in Cleveland with all the mistakes the Bucs make
He's been abusing Victor Harris all day long, Josh Johnson just needs to key on him first .. Antonio Bryant second .. then Carnell or Derrick Ward third
Hell, line K2 up in the WR spot instead of Michael Clayton, make Clayton stay in at the end of the OLine and block
K2 so far today: 61 yards, TD

Solar,
Still need that mailing address...
xxxcanes305xxx... I did not hear WQAM, but this is "paraphrased" from ITU:
According to Shannon, Marcus Forston “may not” play the remainder of the season due to an array of undisclosed injuries.
If Forston does not play the remainder of the season, he could be eligible for a medical redshirt because his injury occurred within the first four games. Medical redshirts are decided by the NCAA.
Shannon reiterated that Medical redshirts are up to the NCAA.
He also would not comment on the injury Aldarius Johnson sustained during the FAMU game.
Not good news...

After re-watching the game a couple of times, it still cracks me up that Brandon Harris drops an INT that hits him basically in the face .... but he makes a "Matrix" style INT later on
Also, some of the Canes were WIDE open on their routes & Jacory decided to dump it underneath on crossing routes instead. Both Streeter and I believe it was Hankie, were wide open in the endzone, one trailing the other but Jacory dumped it on an underneath route. Nice to see the WRs having that much space on their routes for a change from the last 2 years

On BH exactly, the McDaniel kid on Clemson picks off passes like he is a wideout.
Brandon seems to get so tense when its easy he just swats at it or knocks it down.
His coverage is unreal, if he gets some hands he will be one of the best ever here I think.

Anxious for next weeks game against UCF as it will be our first against a truly mediocre opponent who should merit the starters playing more than a half.
Also for someone who was at the game, was Pulley that fast, or were our guys that slow/took bad angles (paging Daryl Sharpton paging Daryl Sharpton, your walker is ready for pick up)?

LOL - yes...me too, if I thought they were a #1 team. I like what I see from this team but I don't think they a top 10 team yet. Maybe it's just the pessimist in me. I see a lot of key injuries to players that are very needed and there are still holes that need to be filled.
We"ll see how this group grows and develops.
Posted by: The Truth | October 11, 2009 at 07:20 PM
It will be interesting to see if the canes can come out and dominate UCF the way they are capable. Yes we have some injuries, but hopefully that will allow for some more young talents to get experience. How they come out against UCF will be a sign of their maturity. UCF is not a great opponent by any means, but they will be jacked to play the U and if we dont match that intensity it could be a tough day for a young team.
Posted by: fmcane | October 11, 2009 at 07:20 PM
Truth, i agree miami is not yet a top 10 team. we have the talent it just hasent come together yet. The U is a very good team, but I hope they can remain focused and not have a let down, and I feel the higher we are ranked the more suseptable they are to a disapointing loss.

Posted by: NativeCane | October 11, 2009 at 02:20 PM
Oh yeah. However, the polls that matter are the Coaches and Harris Interactive, along with the B.C.S. computer system.
Unfortunately, your Hurricanes didn't budge one iota in the proverbial BIASED USAToday/ESPN Coaches poll.
Case in point regarding the BIASED human element. That landlocked Herbie Cornhusker squad made significant leaps and bounds in both the A.P. and Coaches polls.
Yes, believe it or not, a team which played three teams from the big bad azz Sun Belt conference even passed Oklahoma. Get outta here.
Matter of fact, those three LAME non-conference foes, all at home, which the Herbie Cornhuskers defeated combined records equate into a LOSING tally. Get outta Dodge.
Why am I whining about something that is mundane. Because in the grand scheme of matters, the "human element" of the B.C.S has literally cost Miami a berth in the major college football national championship. Ttat's all! Think 2000 season.
Now, I'm not going on record, and insinuating that Team Shannon will play for it all, but a B.C.S. bowl game is highly possible. Oh dat's right. The human element could rob them again.
Good evening.

^^^^from the RS article that was linked^^^^
I don't think this team has to be that great to run the table from here on in. They have to be focused and mature. UNC isn't what we thought they were and so the biggest hurdles left are def USF and our own possible mental letdown.

It sounds like a bunch of us are going to the UCF game this weekend. Can we storm thru security and tailgate at the 50 yard line?

PBCC,
Thank you for holding my jersey again.. It was really nice, smelled like Tide. Don't tell me you washed it for me, LOL! J/K!!!!
Would have hung out and chilled but I had the little cousin with me so, maybe the UCF game.
It was really nice, the weather was good. I took my cousin 25 and his sister 12 to their first Hurricanes game. So they loved it and we just added two more to the crew.. Doing my part for my Canes..
The game.. Wow. It was nice to see the Canes put the rattlers in their place. Jacory looked good, Aldarius looked good before he got hurt, and Tommy stepped up in a big way (Truth, do you have to say "I told you so?") haha.. It was nice to see the back-ups for the whole first half..
Now we can just wait to see how many runs before fans start calling for D.Berry to be the starter. He ran like a man on a mission against that tired FAMU defense..
Everybody take care.

Do we as fans have to suffer through another 2 weeks of the pink gear?
I know save the ta-ta's, but isn't one week enough? It's hard to watch. And it's not even a nice shade of pink.

Speaking of the FAMU game who did CMAC piss off. He got playing time in that game like he was a back-up. If the young gunz are challenging CMAC that much its a good thing in the long run
Posted by: moneycane | October 11, 2009 at 08:40 PM
mm01 the pink isn't that bad. Just imagine a world with no ta-ta's. The NFLU is just doing its part to make sure that NEVER happens

Second half I mean... Dogh!

I am really proud of the U once again... and it just makes me so mad to see us once again being hated... like the yr we beat FSWho and they let them go to the OB ... thats our own back yrd!!damyum ... creeps!... to represent the true champions that we would have been... cause we would have handled Okie hoa ... not get beat like the criminoles.... but it just the same old crap... but we know who you are and it will be a double beat down when we run the table next yr. This team has proved no matter who the opponent is ... except playing in a monsoon... that they could handle any opponent when they racked up the yrds on the best d in college football and they stopped that okie o machine that could not be stopped prior!! Then they wrecked the ramblin tech with a beat down that rivals what any other unranked team could have done. Then they come out and play lights out against a team they could have fallen asleep on and show what championship young talent looks like in cane nation.. . All they get is to be hated on... its us against the college elitist egg heads again...baby!!!((((((((((((U)))))))))

It's a long season with a lot of games to be played. I can see if it was the first week in December but it's just five games into the season. Teams ahead of us will lose and the rankings will take care of itself. If you look at the ACC standings the CANES are currently fourth in the coastal. All we have to do is take care of biznizz.

interesting article about FSU recruiting on Warchant. Recruiting expert said the class is definitely slipping. FSU has had 4 decommits the last 3 weeks.
I can't believe a firebobby.com hasn't popped up.

Damn, that Pats-Broncos game gave me flashbacks. Especially the Pats, I thought Steve Grogan was going to hand it off to Craig James for a minute there...

SOUP..I really appreciate that..I tell U..I love this place more and more each day. I have meet 2 other Canes fans here in Tenn..and I have told them both to come here, but idk if they have.

Don't worry about the Huskers...Texas Tech handles them this week.
Tech put up 66 points and 739 yards of offense up against Kansas State this week...with their second an third string quarterbacks.
