Recently I was promoted to the role of high school recruiting reporter for Canespace. That’s right, the “CaneSawMassacre” that Canespace knows and loves now covers University of Miami Hurricanes football recruiting for the most popular blog around.
Trust me, U should stick around. I have big plans. Really big plans!
As I was pondering my new responsibilities, and trying to establish a plan for accessing high profile recruits, I also kept drifting back to my football playing days. I thought about my days as a football player and how well I played despite not being fully committed to working out or dedicated to becoming an elite athlete.
I began debating how I would compete if compared to 2010 high school athletes? After many drawn out hours I came to the basic assumption that if I had dedicated myself fully, along with my warrior mentality and football knowledge, I would have likely had the talent to play at the Division 1 level.
Yet, even with this in mind I seriously doubt I could have played for my beloved University of Miami Hurricanes (like Leonard Hankerson seen above with me at top R and my dad at top L at the UM team hotel in Tallahassee before the FSU game). I did have preferred walk on status for UCF (and a few others) and eventually was one of four Gaither players from 2004 that did go on to play college football.
Unfortunately, I can’t go back and re-dedicate myself, party less in high school, and care less about chasing girls. However, I can go back to where it all happened though, the home of some great memories and some incredible games.
We are all familiar with the term: “Home is where the heart is”. Yet, often times we have to drift away from our homes to find ourselves and make our own path in life. Still, a homecoming can lift spirits, re-establish roots, and help restore self-confidence.
With that in mind I decided to kick off the Canespace Summer Recruiting Tour with a homecoming special. So I journeyed back to my high school alma mater, the home of the Gaither High School Cowboys.
Without providing too much information about myself I will simply state that I played for the Gaither High School after the Millennium. I wore the #8 in Cowboy navy blue, and I primarily played defensive back.
I was a versatile player and during my high school career I played Wide Receiver, Wing-Back, Tight End, Cornerback, Safety, Rover/OLB, and I was the “Hitman” on special teams. One time I knocked a guy out on the sidelines about five feet into a coach who was sitting on the bench. I knocked the player and coach out cold!
My sophomore year I started and I was only one of three sophomores on the team, the only one to start. I beat out a senior who went on to play for NCAA champion Western Kentucky as a cornerback. I suffered a dislocated and shattered elbow midseason and it ended my sophomore campaign.
My junior season after the injury due to the fact that I had lost some of my speed because I was unable to work out and condition for an extended period, I moved to safety. I played Safety and Rover/OLB for the last two remaining years at Gaither as a starter.
I double checked and despite being part of Gaither High School’s wall of fame, which includes players then went on to play college ball, my number 8 jersey still has not been retired. The current head coach of Gaither High School Mark Kantor (who was also the head coach during my junior and senior years) and I are working out specifics for some sort of induction ceremony and a bronze statue erected in my honor.
Needless to say both parties are still miles apart on negotiations for immortalizing my storied career!
During my career as a Cowboy I amassed 204 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 2 Forced Fumbles, 1 Fumble Recovered, 3 Interceptions, 2 Touchdowns, and 1 Safety (which I called the play for). I was a co-captain my senior year, co-defensive M.V.P., and all county honorable mention.
Despite the stellar defense our team possessed, the Cowboy offense had the Patrick Nix bubble screen predictability and a lack of success. Defense often heard the screams of, “Three and out, D get your helmets strapped.”
As a result, Coach Kantor’s first few years at my alma mater were full of great defenses, mediocre offenses and .500 seasons. Finally much like Randy Shannon at Miami, Coach Kantor had to make a coaching change and the rest of course is history. By making a dedication to the weight room (seen below), practicing hard and excelling in the classroom, Gaither became a force to be reckoned with.
The following year his team progressed to a 6-4 record, and missed out on the playoffs by a field goal with a 17-14 loss to division rival Sickles. Then for the next three years Coach Kanter took Gaither to the playoffs, while sending off quite a few stellar Division-1 studs out to major universities all across the U.S.
Last year was a rebuilding year at Gaither, as many of the team’s best players and leaders graduated and went on to college. The Cowboys started a Freshmen at QB for half the season and was transitioning an already young team to a new offense (sound familiar?).
Gaither struggled through a 1-9 season in 2009, with many games being close loses. Yet, as the 2010 season approaches there are once again big expectations for this team and from Coach Kantor. For more on Coach Kantor see his profile below:
Coach Kantor is entering his eighth year coaching the Gaither Cowboys. Coach Kantor served as the Offensive Coordinator at Hudson High School from 1999 through 2002. He was also the Special Teams Coordinator, Running Backs and Outside Linebackers Coach at Hernando High School from 1996 through 1999, and Wide Receivers Coach at his Alma Mater, Springstead High for the 1993-1994 seasons. Coach Kantor holds a B.A. from the University of Central Florida and has a Master's Degree in Sports Management.
Originally from New York, later moving to Spring Hill where he lettered in football and weightlifting at Springstead High School, Mark continued his football career at Thomas More College in Crestview Hills, Kentucky as a Wide Receiver.
In Part II of this series I will have the interview with Cowboy Head Coach Mark Kantor as well as the first player profile with his rising senior: WR #26 John Pernes.
The third part of this homecoming series will be a wrap-up of the Cowboys spring game with cross town rival Chamberlain High School and Spring game M.V.P. and freshman phenom QB #9 Shug Oyegunle.
Later on we will have several other surprises in store for you from the Tampa area high schools and beyond. So, join me as I take you across the Tampa Bay area on the Canespace 2010 Summer Recruiting Tour.

NCAA won't give USC the Alabama slammer
Here's a nice column from Pat Forde on the myth of the NCAA taking it easy on premier programs.
By Ted Miller
Examine the NCAA's track record and you'll see that selective enforcement is every bit as real as the Loch Ness Monster or Heidi Montag's chest. It's mythology. Or, in the words of former NCAA Committee on Infractions member Tom Yeager, "it's baloney."
(Forde just worked the Loch Ness Monster and Heidi Montag's chest into a single sentence. You must respect that.)
This is relevant because USC's fate -- after more than four years, three days of NCAA hearings and an infractions committee review of nearly 15 weeks -- is expected to be revealed on Friday.
What should you expect? A punishment that is probably close to fair, but one that will make no one happy.
USC fans don't want any major penalties. That's not likely to happen.
Fans of other teams -- most particularly UCLA and SEC fans -- want USC to be hammered into oblivion. That's not going to happen either.
In anticipation of the latter, let's, please, deal with an issue.
More than a few fans and, unfortunately, a few journalist have written or talked about this case being a litmus test for NCAA enforcement equity: USC must get hit as hard as Alabama in 2002.
Utter rubbish.
Alabama received five years' probation, a two-year bowl ban and the loss of 21 scholarships over three years after it was found that Crimson Tide boosters paid ...

So, before heads explode, let's just quickly list the major findings from the Alabama case, courtesy of USA Today.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Just me...
Let's be honest... Play for pay, in one form or another, starts in many highly rated high school programs everywhere... in Miami alone, there are probably 7/8 schools who show favoritism to the top players in baseball, basketball and football programs alone. Tuition's waived in private schools, free rides, maybe a little spending money by other parents of players on the team. I'm not going to go crazy here but loaner cars and jobs for parents, is not out of the question here, when they want someone... How many times do we hear of so and so transferring to another school (out of his school zone) to play for a private school (5/6/7 thousand dollars a year, cost) and where do the parents get the extra money to do that... It's called a free ride... and it starts at a young age.

este,
You are so off base with this the more you talk about it the weaker your arguments become.
Your interpitation of non athletes would include
OLYMIPIC Sports, you know the sports we had before American football was ever even thought about:
Swimming, Diving, 100 meters, discus, shot put, down hill sking, bobsled, luge, decathalon, none of those are athletes either with your theaory that a sport has to have a ball and two teams inbvolved.
Sapp isn't in Slater's league as far as what they have acomplihed in their respective sports.
Charator wise Sapp isn't even on the same planet as Slater for doing good, which was also a criteria.
The article was to give guys like yourself the opertunity to learn about Florida athletes outside of the Cane circle.
If you don't think Slater qualifies as an athlete you need to stick to just talking about high school football players and things you know a little about.
Thanks for your opinion though, you had guts to come back and make it even more obvious to me you didn't know what you were talking about.lol!

SEC Will Continue Dominance in Expansion Era
by Thomas Franz
Contributor Written on June 02, 2010
There have been numerous rumors and stories written about the possible expansion by the Big Ten to 12, 14 or even 16 teams. If the Big Ten chooses to expand itself to 16 teams and create the first super-conference there will undoubtedly be a major ripple effect throughout the nation.
Let’s say the Big Ten is able to pick up Missouri and Nebraska from the Big 12, two teams from the Big East, probably Rutgers and Pittsburgh, and finally Notre Dame would join the party.
Such a power move would force the hand of the other power conferences, and the SEC would undoubtedly come out on top in this struggle to create the best mega-conference possible.
It is very possible that the SEC would expand to 16 teams, and the schools who I believe should join in will help make it the most dominant conference in the nation.
The Schools
These schools are Miami, Florida State, Texas, and Clemson.
Miami is an obvious choice given its geographic location and football tradition since the 1980’s. Miami is also a perennial power in baseball and several other non-revenue sports.
Everyone groans about the lack of fan support for the Hurricanes, but I would guess that many SEC fans would not mind scheduling a vacation to go see their team play in Miami for a weekend.
There may not be many Miami fans, but Sun Life Stadium would be packed regardless.
Florida State can make the same claims as Miami can with regards to tradition and geography. It also has natural rivalries with Florida and Miami already, and by having this trio of schools play each other every season, the SEC would benefit greatly from the monstrous national TV exposure these games would get.
In my eyes, Texas would be the toughest to bring over to the SEC. They are the kings of the Big 12 right now, and they have one of the best athletic reputations for all sports throughout the nation.
However, if expansion does run its expected course, there would be no sense in Texas remaining in the Big 12 if Nebraska, Missouri and possibly Oklahoma all left to different conferences.
The addition of Clemson may not be the most newsworthy, but the Tigers would certainly make a positive impact on the conference.
Clemson has a great fan base, tradition and a built-in rivalry with South Carolina. Clemson has been on the cusp of good things in basketball as well, which would certainly help the SEC improve its reputation on the hardwood.
Divisional Impact
Geographically it would only make sense to place all four of the new teams into the East Division. This simply wouldn’t work, and I would propose a North-South format to compensate for what would be a very east-leaning conference.
In the North, I would have Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Georgia, Alabama, Arkansas, Ole Miss, and Clemson.
In the South would be Texas, LSU, Mississippi State, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Auburn and South Carolina.
In my opinion the Southern division would certainly be superior for football, but the North would harbor more basketball talent.
Scheduling
In this format, I would propose that every team plays a round-robin schedule within their division plus one opponent in the other division to allow for rivalries to stay in tact.
I have purposely split up rivalries such as Florida—Georgia, Arkansas—LSU, Ole Miss—MSU and Clemson—South Carolina in order to ensure the tradition of these rivalries will remain. By having them play their single out-of-division game against each other, the prestige of the rivalry would remain intact.
The in-conference competition every week in the SEC would be far greater than what any other conference could ever hope for.
While the Big 10 is dreaming up ways to match-up Northwestern and Rutgers on a chilly November afternoon, the SEC could potentially have a game between Florida and Texas occurring on the same day in Gainsville.
No matter what the Big 10 does, SEC football will remain superior in the expansion era.

I was the water boy on the football team... Does that count?
Once they gave me the job of moving the flags during a game, but was caught, trying to cheat a few feet in getting a first down... The damn ref's stretched out the chain... and the crowd started laughing
I was sent packing!!! Damn!
Is it football yet?

Some people live in their own worlds but the reality is...
A sport is commonly defined as an organized, competitive, and skillful physical activity requiring commitment and fair play.
No where does it mention some sort of ball must be involved to call it a sport.
But as I was saying...
People do have a right to live in their own worlds, I mean, a right to their opinion.

Philly - LOL I don't know - Chicago clearly outguns Philly but Philly puts their heads down (and elbows up - hahaha) and grinds it out blue collar style. Chicago is also better defensively than I thought they would be but then again I never watch teams from the West. I would like to see an extended series that goes to Game 7. Philly is built to win it this year with what they spent on Pronger - he is 36 now, how much longer can he play all those minutes like he is 2 people?
Posted by: CGNC | June 03, 2010 at 11:43 AM
solar, outside of your tone that i ain't liking i'll keep it simple ...i'm against calling everything that requires even the smallest requirement of physical ability a sport. but if you are that's fine. i look at the the olympic reference as null cause the olympics includes weightlifting and curling, but only recently added baseball as a medal status game and doesn't include football. but that is fine with me cause the olympics are an ancient competition who abide by the original form of the word sport - which was equivalent to "leisure". so that makes sense since it includes a ton of games of leisure. but what is considered a sport today is debated all the time. the olympic committee has granted chess and bridge sport status so again we see what definition they abide by. it's an argument i wasn't even getting into. i just made a comment about a surfer (could be any) and warren sapp - which is my opinion about any surfer and warren sapp - who's not just a former hurricane but a future hall of famer. and isn't the purpose of making a list as subjective as you and Six made to create discussion/debate/reaction to that list? so why get so sensitive when one person disagrees with the order of two people off a list of 50? if you got a problem with people commenting on ur articles then you need to stick to making post so its easier to ignore 'em.

I'll just say this, even though I agree with star of Break It Down in regards to the tone of the conversation, anything that requires a human being to propel themselves through the water using their own exertion = sport. Even if it's a sport in the sense that figure skating is in that it's judged and scored. Put Slater wherever you want on a list of athletes because he qualifies as one, but 11-15 were all getting to borderline icon status and Slater is an iconic figure in his sport and thus by extension to a certain extent outside it. I wish the tabloids would still fawn over him as horribly as they do the Mr.-Spice-Girl-English-ninny Beckham back when Slater was chasing Pam Anderson instead personally. At least Slater's no monarchy stooge at the end of the day.

:27 - :48, you see just how insane it is
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmlsvDj6yhY
1:20 in, that guy has it correct "Man, that sh*t is impossible"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcaZarxilJQ
When I see a guy, riding a 70 foot maelstrom of death that are like the waves in that "Perfect Storm" movie sh*t .... I completely consider that guy to have balls the size of a Hyundai dangling between his legs and he is an athlete
A WR going across the middle in an NFL game, into the kill zone, is definitely scary ... but if you can take a moment and clear your head, then think about the type of force a 70 footer from the ocean provides, and then think of a guy riding out there to surf it?
If you eat it on a wave like that, you're getting shot down into the water at least 50 feet like one of those money carriers at the bank that shoot in the tube from the drive thru to the teller in the building
Not to mention, getting thrown onto the reefs, when getting pulled deep under the easy task of drowning
These big waves, the surfer has to be towed out there by either a wave runner, a boat or even helicopter
Posted by: Six | June 03, 2010 at 02:12 PM
I can completely understand a person's argument whether a surfer is an athlete, esp. seeing first hand a lot of times a week in high school when we'd go out to Sebastian Inlet or Ormond Beach or New Smyrna - some of those jokers out there, thinking that they're all mini-Slaters b/c they can get up on a 3 footer
I fart bigger waves in the bathtub than what we had to ride on a lot of days
But those guys I saw and rode with, those are like guys who you see on the courts that you play pick-up games with or playing beer league softball with
The Pro Surfers, hitting the big boy waves at big boy spots like Teahupoo, Mavericks, Jaws, Waimea .. and Cortes Bank.
Thing about Cortes Bank is, you have to take a boat out there to get to it ... it's 105 miles out into the ocean, with waves around 60-70 feet
You're talking 24 foot swells, which results in 50-70 foot wave heights
And another thing, when you have waves that big crashing down on you .. I dunno just how to try and describe it, b/c I've never ever done it and never will - but from what I've listened to in the documentaries about big wave riding, it would make being sprayed down with a firetruck hose at full pressure, seem like someone just spit on you
Posted by: Six | June 03, 2010 at 02:24 PM
"I completely consider that guy to have balls the size of a Hyundai dangling between his legs"
Doesn't that make it tough to stay on the board? Just sayin...
BTW, Motley Crue did a remake of Smoking in the Boy's Room, and they mention you in there.
"Checkin' out the halls makin sure the coast is clear, Lookin in the stalls, nah there ain't nobody here. My buddies SIX, MICK, and TOM, To get caught would surely be the death of us all."
Alright, I know who Six and TOM are, but who is MICK? UMike, you change your name?

What I forgot to say was, the Pro Surfers, hitting the big boy waves at the big boy spots .. are complete athletes to me
To do what Slater has done, is phenomenal
He's the best in the world at his respective sport and everyone around the world that has picked up a surfboard, amateur or pro, looks at him like someone would look at Jordan, Montana, Willie Mays, etc. in their respective sport
I like though that the list has riled up some discussion - that was its intention - and it has also helped inform as well

Ungar - ya, who the hell is Mick? And where does Motely Crue and Nikki Six get off ripping my name .... even though I was probably in 4th grade when they did it - but it was still my damn name

No offense, I think Kelly Slater could compete at football probably if he trained at it on a D-1 level, maybe not be an All-American like Sapp, but he has the athletic ability and frame if taught well.
Sapp can not do what Slater has done, not even with a couple years of extensive training.
I just don't see how you could say competitive surfing isn't a sport. Its a competition based off points, it requires real skill and athleticism, not counting extreme coordination and UNREAL balance and center of gravity.
There are more W.Sapp type people in the world then there are Kelly Slaters.
But again. I could be bias, I think Sapp his two slices of a terd sandwich from personal interaction.

Six - I'm guessing your sports radio day goes something like Early Morning AM 1040 with Mike and Mike to maybe some Cowherd, then right around 12pm... You change the dial from the horrendous sports talking lady, and go to Jim Rome on 620am, then tune back over to Mark on 1040 at 3pm.
Then the signals for me all go to h8ll after 7pm.
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | June 03, 2010 at 03:36 PM
I dont know about Slater being able to compete at football if he had that kind of training
Its one thing to do the weights and the cardio but the 1st time someone busts you between the #s things will change very quickly
You can see the waves coming but you cant always see 6`4 250+ coming after you with bad intentions

este,
You have a whole lot of DJ Moonbat in you son.
I told you I respected you had balls too question the call.
I LIKED that you took time to question the choice.
I wasn't being sensitive I was attempting to open your eyes to something, you knew nothing about.
I also informed you that you were, and are, and most likely will continue to be dead wrong on the subject.
You had already made up your mind subconciously that a Cane had been snubbed, that was the intent of your reply.
Whether you want to admit it to yourself or not is your choice.
Bend it any way you need to too turn your personal opinion into facts.
I guess Phelps Spitz and Rowdy should just return their medals becausae they sure as hell aint athletes acording to your leisure/sporets agenda.
And it really doesn't make a ratazz to me if you read anything I write.
I still respect you and still enjoy your football stuff.
Which like I suggested is a subject you really need to stick to.
No sweat on the debate, nothing is personal to me on here. and thanks again for stating your opinion.

Mariah Carey's quote
Mariah Carey was one of the first celebrities to comment on the death of the King of Jordan. Mariah told CNN "I'm inconsolable at the present time, I was a very good friend of Jordan, he was probably the greatest basketball player this country has ever seen, we will never see his like again".
When told by reporters that it was King Hussein of Jordan who had died and not Michael Jordan, Mariah was then led away by her security in a state of "confusion".
Posted by: DZ8 | June 03, 2010 at 04:18 PM
They should have told her Lebron James was the King, not Jordan.
She would have responded "First Elvis Presley, then Micheal Jackson, then my good friend Lebron James, I guess it isn't good to be the King!"
Posted by: Ungar | June 03, 2010 at 04:30 PM
I see all!!!
DON'T EVEN!!!!!!
LMFAO!!!
IMO if anyone questions a sport, that automatically puts that hobby on the fence.
And why is it a big deal if someone doesn't think a sport is a sport the same way you do?
Who gives a fuk. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, No?
To say someone doesn't know what they are talking about because of a different view just doesn't seem right.
Swimmers are athletes, Surfers......nah
Says me.
I could be totally wrong here though :)
GO CANEZ!!!!!
Posted by: Canez1 | June 03, 2010 at 04:32 PM
I'm with you Canez1, as far as who cares what other people consider a sport, unless you're trying to debate it(and by it I mean the actual particulars of what makes a sport a sport)...then have at it.
Personally I think surfing is a sport, especially if golf is a sport.
Posted by: DZ8 | June 03, 2010 at 04:52 PM

CG, I rarely watch ne games from the west too, unless its playoffs, so I had no clue what we were getting into with Chicago except I knew they were fast. I felt like we got more physical with the hawks once we got back into philly. Pronger has been anchoring our team and no, he cant keep it up, this is the year to win it. We are gritty, tough, and like you said blue collar so we will fight til the end.
Still not a lot of production from Gagne, richards, carter, or atleast not as much as expected. Leighton kindof scares me, and there goalie played well especially in the 3rd last game. Guys like Leino, Giroux, and Asham are awesome and have been huge. Hartnell needs a fresh hair cut. Anyways tomorrows night game should be great. And how loud is the blow horn after we score a goal in Philly!? Jesus its nuts. Cant wait for tomorrow.. GO FLYS

And this is coming from a guy that was born in Daytona Beach Fl. and lived there the 1st 25 years of my life

Blazin Bob explaining what a sport is to me,
making more sense than any of you guys
A thing is a sport if its done competitively in the location you are in
Surfing's not a sport in Memphis ( Liberty City?)
Surfing is the only sport if you are in Hawaii
That pretty much sums up all you need to know.
Soup,
Blazin Bob might be joining us for dinner when you guys come up, that is worth the trip right there!

Just copped the Sporting News CFB 10'-11' magazine.......
Love that they’ve got us at No.4, but I’m not sure we've earned it....... We are the initial favorite in the Coastal…….. They feel that stability in the coaching staff (for the first time in forever) will be paramount in our success……. They’ve got B Harris as a pre-season AA an and Bailey as a 3rd teamer…….. If you need a good laugh, they’ve got Arthur Brown pegged as the starting MLB..........
Posted by: Hurriphin 302-4-305 | June 03, 2010 at 06:33 PM
Thats what drives me crazy about some of these mags when they make simple, stupid errors like AB at MLB.

And Mariah Carey DOES surf.

Even Barndon Harris surfs, sort of....

86, please sign the deed over to solar, since a deal is a deal. solar, this means you cannot take time out for mowing the lawn and stuff, you have a higher calling now....
86, this gives you more time to spend with Valerie Perrine in the Plantation Hampton Inn.
Solar, as your first job, you gotta edit the humongous and messy article I sent in to 86.
Make sure not to place it during a Canes baseball game, okay? Thanks.
Posted by: Ungar | June 03, 2010 at 07:16 PM
LOL - by definition dodgeball, softball, golf, skeet shooting and curling are considered sports.
But I guarantee they don't necessarily require more athleticism or natural ability than a surfer who handles waves like Slater.
If we want to start arguing sports we could go that route...
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | June 03, 2010 at 07:17 PM
What's with all the doubting about Heidi Montag's chest, the images I have seen it looks like she has a chest.
Posted by: Ungar | June 03, 2010 at 07:18 PM
SOUP - I sent you an email. The Gaither cowboy website coordinator is wanting to link up sites.
I copied him and sent to canespace86@aol.com.
I advised him he could coordinate logistics with you going forward.
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | June 03, 2010 at 07:25 PM
If Mariah can doggy style while surfing you know its a sport....
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | June 03, 2010 at 07:27 PM
Ungar I'm a lucky guy I have a beautiful wife...
But I seriously don't understand the fascination with Heidi Montag. Especially after the plastic surgery.. She looks freakishly unreal, she is phucking annoying, and stupid.
There are so many better looking girls on the same show, in that city (L.A.), and especially in Hollywood.
I'm tired of people even talking about her and that turd bag she called a husband.
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | June 03, 2010 at 07:29 PM
It's only a sport if there has been a comedy movie made about it. (I checked, that's the rule)
Dodgeball? Dodgeball.
Golf? Caddyshack.
Bowling? Kingpin.
Baseball? Major League.
Football? The Longest Yard.
Softball? Beer League.
Curling? Men With Brooms.
Surfing? Big Wave.
Skeet Shooting? not so much. But there is a rap song about it.... 8-)

Canez surfing isn't a sport and you are a Seinfield fan.....Makes sense.
Just kidding. Seinfield is an ok show. A bit cynical and observatory for my taste but the soup nazi is still classic.
I enjoyed the one where Ellen gets the Communist blacklisted from the Chinese food store...
Entourage/The Office/ The Wire are my shows, and my closet favorites were Friends, Wonder Years, and.... Jay Leno when I got my first TV during the summer after 3rd grade.
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | June 03, 2010 at 07:41 PM
I have no idea who Heidi Montag is, I just pulled up her image in a bikini to see if her chest was "mythical".
Canez1, you gotta give a channel....
Posted by: Ungar | June 03, 2010 at 07:42 PM
Not only has Florida dominated the ESPN 150, it also leads the Rivals.com 100 as well.

As long as UM can hold its own in its own backyard, it will be a banner year for the Canes.

Good show, a bit overrated in my book. BUT It peaked just before my GEN-X T.V. and technology era took off.

You guys want to know about the dirty business of college scholarships in the SEC... And maybe why they keep winning...
Hmmm. Seems like Saban especially, Urban, Nutt, and all others feel scholarships should only be based on 1 year renewable deals..
WOW!!!! Shady business going on with kids in the SEC and Alabama especially.
I JUST WANT EVERYBODY TO SEND THIS WEBSITE TO AS MANY HIGH SCHOOL KIDS THEY KNOW AS POSSIBLE>. SO THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE UP AGAINST..

csm,
I thought every scholarship even ours is a one year renewable deal no????
Posted by: solarcane | June 03, 2010 at 08:29 PM
Yes... but its an honor deal. Shannon has honored players scholarships even though they have no longer been of use to the school.
Most coaches honor a 4 year scholarship.
The SEC is getting dirty with it. Real dirty and not telling parents or kids about these 1 year renewables...
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | June 03, 2010 at 08:45 PM
Shannon has even honored scholarships for players who were hurt for their whole time.
Chaz Washington.
or Coaches like Mark Richt and Tressell all do the same.
The SEC is doing this on purpose because there are no rules forbidding it, even though there is the 85 rule. I want to get awareness to kids out there about the practices that certain coaches are more prone to.. So they can make better decisions.
Posted by: CaneSawMassacre | June 03, 2010 at 08:47 PM
There is a difference between suggesting a transfer for playing time or saying you better transfer or you will have to pay for school at the University of Alabama next semester.
Some schools are doing that..
Some are not.

Interesting find while surfing the net... miami partnered with a company for options to buy guaranteed tickets to games in the future. Miami is the first collegiate partner. If I understand correctly, you can purchase an option to buy a ticket at face value. For example, for fsu you can purchase the right to buy a ticket for $42. For the OSU game in 2011 it is $58, not including the face value of the ticket. If the price of the options increase you can sell it and they will credit your account. Only certain sections are available... https://www.optionit.com ......now the only question is why did they do this?
