Forcier is a good move and better "fit"

SOUP

Heard from a few sources that 2 players are likely to transfer before Spring practice begins. Not sure yet, just "likely".

I'm just sayin...

pbcfrcane13

He was bet out because Robinson was faster and can run an Option system better......IMO thats no knock on the kid.

Ohio_Cane

SOUP, any word on what the deal is with Brennan Carroll tweeting "Welcome to the U x2"?

Who's the second commit?

ColoradoCane

Second commit is AJ Leggett recommitting to UM. (He decommitted to FSU a few weeks ago)

orange 'n green in the vein

So, no Brisset despite the mother full court press, no Savage despite the grandparents owning a house in South Florida, but Forcier instead because he likes, "the vibes," just like a true to form San Diego washout?

That splatting sound you just heard was Golden's recruiting guru rep taking a sudden deceleration into a wall and not surviving intact.

SOUP

Posted by: ColoradoCane | February 09, 2011 at 05:11 PM

That is correct.

Hurri

Forcier is a little too close to Kirby Freeman, for my liking. Hope its just for competition sake. I'm not too confident in his upside in the pro-style O. Again, I'll give him a shot if his # is called, but I'd rather have a polished Morris over the next three years, than anything else

.......A "Polished Morris."

That one practically wrote itself.....

Sinistercane

What the status of this player still being unsigned?? MOFO is big

Chavis Akins DT 6'4" 321 out of Homestead Senior

Sebastian

Maybe just maybe something out of AGs control happened that kept JB frpm coming here

Also it could be possible that AG and others didnt like what they saw with Savage

MassivCane

Could it be that AG and Fisch wanted a QB with experience to run the scout team. What better way to get a defense prepared than to actually practice against someone that's decent.

Herbieibis

Ogv,

I'll for once agree with you on that one. Savage, to me a better fit. I guess he decided not to dip in the cookie jar again once to often. Those who wait, are going to be late!

LOL!

I had to save the OTHER article I wrote before due to Golden signing two players today. It will run Friday AM.

Posted by: MassivCane | February 09, 2011 at 05:29 PM

That's what I've been trying to say!

ColoradoCane

No sh*t...at least our D will get a decent look from the scout team QB for a year!

VA Cane

I do not have a feel for TF, but then again, I am not AG and the staff. Have to see what happens...long ways off before he ever plays so we will see.

Sebastian

The 14-9(3-6) `Canes bball team are on the road to take on the worst team in the ACC Wake Forest 8-15(1-7)

There is nothing and I mean nothing that the Deacons do well

There is no reason the `Canes dont end the road misery tonight

If the `Canes dont win this game then leave Haith at the airport

NativeCane

All about Tater

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tate_Forcier

Go Canes!!!

CaneRock

Something else is up with Savage, ain't no sophomore slump that bad. If all was well, Golden would've taken Savage over Forcier...

Herbieibis

I think Golden got spooked, by the Brissett episode and decided whoever came first and committed was in.
Now I ask again do we have any schollies left, for the DT spot? I know Cormier & Pompey are out there. Does anyone down there know or have any info?

ColoradoCane

I just talked to a buddy of mine who is a Michigan alum and he thinks this is a good move for both Miami and TF. In his personal opinion Tate is much more suited to run a pro style O then the spread. Like a couple of individuals stated on here at the very least he'll give our D some looks on the scout team. Imagine preparing for a team with Whipple simulating plays......f ing disastrous.

CaneRock

Unless this picture was doctored, or Forcier was a closet Miami fan, maybe Forcier to Miami has been a done deal for a while. Click on this link, and look at the 16th picture, and you will see TF in Miami apparel:

SOUP

If the `Canes dont win this game then leave Haith at the airport

Posted by: Sebastian57 | February 09, 2011 at 05:54 PM

That CAN be arranged!

But will prolly not be necessary.

CaneRock

Yeah, Tate should give us some good looks for GTs Triple Option...

Sebastian

Ive seen Wake play twice this season and they are pathetic

The `Canes should win this game by at least 15

I cant stress enough how bad this Wake team is

Sebastian

Besides this game tonight the `Canes have road games against

UNC Greensboro 5-18, B.C. 15-9, FSU 16-7, GT 10-12

Home games against
Duke 21-2, Clemson 17-7, Maryland 15-8

This game and the UNC Greensboro game have to be locks....thats 16-9......then what????

8 games left to go....17-12??

DZ8

Kind of ironic we're getting a California quarterback by way of Michigan would couldn't beat out a local quarterback we didn't recruit.

Posted by: Old Skool | February 09, 2011 at 04:40 PM

Good one.

DZ8

I heard Savage was making some kind of demands. Saw Savage play, don't remember seeing Tate play. Would've prefered Savage but oh well.

orange 'n green in the vein

Posted by: CaneRock | February 09, 2011 at 06:15 PM

Exactly! Although he's more of a West Coast offense QB at his best from what I've seen of him in action.

Is my math off, or is the backup QB not running the scout team over Forcier sitting out this year? You want depth and to get both eligible QB's ready during the week as much as you can, you split the snaps up like that to get Morris or Harris the most prepped you can for the coming game in case of emergency right? Besides, Forcier's just there to take 3rd string snaps next year to the new freshman who replaces Jacory anyway.

Old Skool

A Gadbois and a Forcier on the Canes.
Mon Dieu.

Old Skool

Next all we need is a Cormier

Sebastian

Not quite 5 minutes into the game and the `Canes are up on the Deacons 14-5

LA3

What is AJ's story? And any chance the we get any more signees?

raizecane

Let the record show that I am not a big fan of TF. If it works out, great but he had his wings removed when at MEEECHIGAN because he did not practice well. When your own teamates call you out, that is a problem.

I just hope i don't have to say "told ya so" one day.

Sebastian

An 8-3 run pulls WF within 4 at 17-13 with 12 minutes to go

DZ8

Is that canechic pretending to be raizecane?

DZ8

I'm not excited about Forcier either but what do we really lose? One scholarship spot. Some of our players will transfer, the schollys will be there. Golden is so organized and meticulous in every thing else I gotta trust he is in this as well.

Good one up there OGV... your point is accurate. Not quite the QB haul we wanted or expected this year.

Sebastian

A game of runs

`Canes go up by as much as 9 then the Deacons will make a run and cut right back into the lead

Less then 8 minutes to go and the `Canes are up 24-21

Sebastian

At the half the score is all tied up at 37

Yep...the `Canes are tied up with the 8-15 Wake Forest Demon Deacons

No adjustments have been made to guard C.J. Harris who has put up 16 points....his season high is 17 points

Of course the `Canes already have 10 turnovers

What the hell is Haith doing again??? This game should of been over by now

DZ8

Thanks for the updates Sebas57... I think?

Miami deserves better.

Thanks for the comments everyone much appreciated Just got home and grabbed a snack to suplement the Hospital food I ate :(?
Blood test revealed low Iron, Hemaglobin and 2 more I can't remember ,all readings were normal 4 months ago and all previous 6 month tests.
The first invasive test (upper gastro) revealed a extremely iritated stomach lining but no perforations. The decision to do the lower gastro and the Colon will be made tomorrow.
Strange thing is she has not had any pain at all just loss of energy and some neausea
I can't stress enough if you think there may be something wrong do not procrastinate , go see U'r Doc it could save U'r life. It took me 1 week to get her to call & they took her immediatly. after the blood test Dr. Ryan called and told me get her to ghet the hospital ASAP a room is ready.
Glad we did it might have been much worse I hse waited any longer.
Fran

Sebastian

DZ8,
Yes the `Canes really do deserve better then this

Ive watched most every game this season and its just getting worse

You cant get up by 9 against a team this poor and in just a matter of minutes have them come back and tie it up at the half

Hell, On a few trips Haith couldnt even figure out what defense to get the `Canes in. Some were in zone while the guys on the inside were in man which led to easy passes to the rim

He called for Grant and Scott to pick up the pressure up top so what happens....he leaves the 3 down low so C.J. can sit out on the wing and light the `Canes up

Sebastian

Always in me and my wifes thoughts and prayers Fran

Sebastian

Down 46-45 with 15 minutes left in the game

Dont let Haith on the flight home if he lets the `Canes drop this game

francis w

Thanks sebastian57 appreciate that
I pooped going to bed
Go Canes
Fran

DZ8

Praying for the best fran.

DZ8

I wished I could watch more Miami basketball but after that synopsis Sebas57 I dont think my liver could take it. It sounds like they're still searching for rock bottom, from which to build right? Shouldn't that have been done years ago? Haith has been there awhile.

Sebastian

Tied up at 53 with 11 minutes to go

Big Reg 19 points 3 rebounds
Scott 13 points

`Canes shooting over 54% but also allowing the Deacons to shoot over 54%

pbcfrcane13

You don't want your back up QB runnig the scout team because that QB runs the O that other team runs. Thats why you have your 3rd string or a RS QB run it.

1 and 2 take snaps running your O

SOUP

Just back from eating a few dozen oysters at Barnacle Bills here in Tally on Monroe.

pbcfrcane13

I thought I read a post about somebody sayingwhy you need a QB like Tate to run the scout team dont you want your back up QB doing that so he gets more reps. Maybe I miss read a post

Sebastian

Adams hits his 1st FG of the game to put the `Canes up by 3 62-59 with under 7 minutes to go

Reg down low and Scott in the open court is what is keeping it going

Montreal-Cane

Would've prefered Savage!

SOUP

57...thanks for the updates! I'm watching G'Town and 'Cuse.

Town 62, Cuse 56 45 seconds left.

Sebastian

`Canes-66
Deacons-64

Less then 4 minutes to go and Haith just installed the hold onto the ball until 10 seconds on the shot clock before making a move to the hoop

SOUP

Would've prefered Savage!

That's NOT what she said.

The hoops game will come down to last possession with UM hoisting a three! Adrian Thomas needs to quit shooting!

canesteeler

Canes win, canes win

Sebastian

Big Reg hits 2 big free throws with 4 seconds left to give the `Canes a 74-73 win

canesteeler

Sebas, at least they didn't hoist a three, we finally had someone take the ball to the hoop!

Sebastian

Im honest when I say this

After this horrible performance I sat thru once again and the decline of the team as the year has gone on. Haith needs to go right now

Wake was one of the worst teams ive seen in the ACC in a very long time and the `Canes were lucky to get out of there with a W

Goodbye Haith...Thanks for telling Hardaway Jr. that you werent interested in him coming to Miami. Its not like you could of used an athlete like that huh?

Sebastian

canesteeler, youre right....I was in shock that they did actually decide to use Reg in that situation...I was waiting for the kickout...Damn glad it stayed in the big mans hands

Montreal-Cane

From Manny at the Herald

The big question for UM moving forward is if Forcier will be bringing any of his baggage from Michigan down with him. After starting 12 games and playing well as a freshman, Forcier lost his starting job this past season former Deerfield Beach star Denard Robinson. A few teammates accused Forcier of not working hard enough in the off-season because he missed voluntary workouts. Forcier ended up playing in eight games a sophomore before being ruled academically ineligible for the Gator Bowl.

SOUP

IF U read the last several comments from the bloggers here then U will realize what I heard from the fans at the game I attended in Miami at The BUC.

The fans LITERALLY know more than the basketball coach.

That is S A D...

Sebastian

Reg 25 points(career high) 7 rebounds
Scott 17 points 3 rebounds 2 assists
Thomas 10 points 3 rebounds
Grant 10 points 2 rebounds 1 assist
Gamble 4 points 7 rebounds

14 turnover just 8 assists
Gave up 53.8% shooting

solarcane

Do they retire Miami Hurricane basketball player' numbers so those guys can say they never played at The Who?

SOUP

"Forcier ended up playing in eight games a sophomore before being ruled academically ineligible for the Gator Bowl."

Really? REALLY??? U think he will try that at UM?

U think he will not get his scholly pulled at the first sign of trouble?

U think that is not written in as an agreement?

REALLY?

Montreal-Cane

Can we get the best 2 f....... QBS in the country for the 2012 recruiting class just like USC did in 2011 despite the sanctions.

Forcier at UM...Bad move! Vault it!

Sebastian

Haith has become so predictable with that offense when he gets any kind of lead in the 2nd half

Have guys pass it near midcourt then when the clock hits 15 give the ball to Scott or Grant then once it gets to 10 they have to go like crazy men to create something

Within minutes the lead is either gone or nearly gone

He can call out 2 different defenses at the same time. Im guessing that might confuse the players just a bit

Oh and I always love the famous one where guys check in for someone and they go man and 2 people end up with the same guy...Thats priceless

He puts Reg down low and who does he have as his kick out on the wing but Adams which makes it easier to double Reg

Ive yelled until I lost my voice for him to put Grant,Scott or the Godfather over there so there guy wont be so quick to come down and double because if they do Reg has an easy kick out for an open 3

But oh no....Haith just gives me the stank eye and adjusts his damn coat and strolls along

Time to fire Haith right now!!!

solarcane

REALLY?

Posted by: SOUP | February 09, 2011 at 09:38 PM

I doubt you are ever going to see Forcier in a game unless he is a real good FGA holder

Good luck to him, but he doesn't seem close to the type player Golden wants as a leader.

Sebastian

Forcier is a far better move at this time then Savage thats for certain

I know people do the compare thing....but this will not be a Marve thing

Compare days are over at the U

SOUP

Forcier at UM...Bad move! Vault it!

Just remember it!

solarcane

sebas,
I feel for you brother you are about the only die hard BB fan left on here.

pbcfrcane13

Why do you guys even care about bringing TF. Hes not going to play this year so it's stillJ12 and SM7. By bringing in TF you have an experiance QB to compete with Morris and or a good back up for Morris if he goes down and then a Freshman as your 3rd stringer. Best case he never has to play and or just plays in a game or two if MOrris ever gets hurt, but now UM has QB depth other then a freshman in 2012. Your other choice was Savage and who you do think as more film and talked to more people then all of us about TF and Savage...Hmmmm I dont know Golden.

So I'm going to trust Golden on this choice over all of you guys.

What a concept! LOL

Sebastian

Lets just say that TF gets everything together and does all that is asked of him

He will challenge #17 for the starting job in 2012

Unless #17 has some off the chart type of seeason

With his doo-doo together TF would make a much better leader then TS

solarcane

I know people do the compare thing....but this will not be a Marve thing

If Golden had been here when Marve got here no telling how being disiplined rather than harrassed would have turned out for Marve.

Sebastian

If AG was here for that class neither #12 or Bobby Drama would have signed here

Sebastian

Solar,
Youre about right

I do seem to be the last of a dying breed with college basketball but im not going to go quietly unless of course you pimps of the blog ban all things basketball then that would take care of that

I guess its because I see a team that should be a 4 seed in the NCAA being coached below the level of the NIT

OK no more bball rants

solarcane

sebas,
I have a lot of respect for your loyalty.
I'm not a basketball fan at any level of competition, but It seems someone is making a lot of money for doing a poor job.

Yes i know! I got this terrible disease reading and posting on Canespace. Any medication?

soldo

I like the TF signing the guy has some talent. Look at the numbers he put up as a true fresh at Michigan, not bad.

At worst he gives Morris some real competition to push him in 12. Because other then TF all we would have would be the 2 qb's we sign next year to compete with Morris.

solar, I've seen Jitters and Jeff Garcia thrown around as legit comparisons to the guy so far that strike me as not being too far off. There's a wide range of outcomes he could fall into between those two but the top end projection isn't all that great anyway if that's a valid spectrum of results we can expect to reap.

solarcane

OGV,
Forcier transferred from one high school to another as a freshman also, so he is acquainted with the expression " When the going gets tough, the tough go shopping. "

The thing I love best is when Marve or Taylor Cook transferred from the U >>> pieces of crap

When Forcier transfers from Mich into <<<< The U , very solid guy and good addition.

solar, I thought internet double standards were factory installed equipment on Hurricane fans from the 2000's on? Plus, the knock of Forcier is character issues and the meddling father, his game, outside of lacking the prototype arm cannon, was never really a big problem outside of . . . TURNOVERS, which were the downfall of our offense last year at the QB position no matter who was under center. Tate gets stripped easy in big games.
