Long time no post. Hope everybody is well. Been really busy still reading all the time keep up the great work!

Quick question......Me,my brothers, and friends are heading up to UM UNC this year for my bachelor party...playing golf on friday getting there thursday...(I did the vegas thing before lol wanted something relaxing and canes related for those wondering why NC lol.) Wanted to know, one where do they sit the canes fans in that stadium? Also if anybody has been there any suggestions of places to eat or get some good drinks? Also when do the canes away tickets go on sale if they havent already? I have season tickets and just couldnt recall when they normally do it for season ticket holders. Thanks guys. If you want to send me info other then posting it on here you can email me at Zed1313@aol.com name is Zed

Raize the canes are there...the Canes are number 1 and always will be :)

I added them first when I opened my page the other teams came after that.

Wow I am excited about the future wuth us refocused on recruiting the bottom

SOUP

pbc13...a few of us went to the UNC game 2 years ago. Since the stadiumis on campus the only place to eat/drink was at the tailgate. We met at a Chilis near the stadium and then drove into the stadium area together. Go EARLY to get parking, it gets squirrely after the main parking fills up.

Tickets are already on sale for away games. The visitor section at UNC is in the lower levelof the NE corner of the stadium. If you buy your tickets from UM you will be in that section.

Pbcfrcane13

Ok cool thanks for the info. Yea we rented a house thats about a mile away from the campus. So were probably just tailgate at the house we rented as it looks like right now. Ok Ill need to look into the tickets for the away game. Thanks for the info

Who?

Six

canechic - Ortiz and Gregg. Like two old fatties slap boxing. Gregg is an idiot as well, you don't hit a guy with your pitching hand

Those are not two guys that I'd even pay 5 cents to pay go at it. I'm surprised Ortiz didn't have a heart attack

I'm waiting for the Rays to get into a brawl so Kyle Farnsworth can go destroy someone - that dude is proven and scary

Anyone remember Izzy Alcantara - that dude was nuts. He thought he was Jet Li or something

Oh, now I see. Hines Ward.

I will never understand how people with that much money ever get busted for DUI. Some people stupidly think they can't afford a cab, and thus must drive drunk. But even the lowliest of NFL players can afford a cab; Ward can afford a town car.

More preseason watchlists for these Canes. Its been a while since so many Canes are on watch lists. As for Ray Ray being projected a 1st round pick, I agree. I saw him play in that State Championship game against Northwestern, and he carried his team as a QB and on D.

From the moment I saw him play, you could see the raw tools, he just was learning a new position at the major college level. Looking at him on the field and how he moves and covers ground, he is freakishly tall, big and athletic. During the past Spring, he played the Safety position unlike anyone I have seen in a Canes uniform since Kenny Phillips. If he plays like that during the season, the Canes will be very good this year.

I agree with Ohio Cane in that the Canes will win at least 10 games, the Coastal and ACC champtionship for the first time in its history. There is no 5 year plan for players with "potential" under Golden.

Golden will mold this talent and win immediately and in dominant fashion much like Jimmy Johnson/Saban/Meyer/Tressel did at their schools when they arrived.

Golden offers insights to the Miami Hurricanes' freshman class
.

By Barry Jackson
UM coach Al Golden still beams like a proud father talking about his first recruiting class. And he needs immediate help from some.

With practice starting Aug. 6, all but three freshmen are on campus. Taylor Gadbois (the class’ only offensive lineman), Antonio Kinard and Corey King haven’t enrolled, but UM is optimistic about their 2011 availability. During a summer chat in his office, Golden spoke on what he expects from his freshmen:

• Linebacker: “Whether on special teams or competing for a starting job, all four are going to play,” he said. He sees Coral Gables’ Denzel Perryman and Kinard (an ex-Michigan commitment who played at Hargrave Military Academy) lining up outside, where depth is shaky behind Sean Spence and Ramon Buchanan. Golden said Gionni Paul “can play inside or outside. Eddie Johnson looks like an inside linebacker.’’

Linebackers coach Micheal Barrow said Paul always wanted to go to UM — like fellow Lakeland Kathleen alum Ray Lewis — but “there was a lot of damage done” because Randy Shannon did not want him, leading Paul to commit initially to Arizona State. Barrow said Paul, who already has a U tattoo, “is a game-changer” and told Golden that pursuing him was a “no-brainer.”

Golden loves Paul’s motor (155 tackles, two interceptions and four forced fumbles as a senior) and predicts “Gionni is going to have something to say” about the middle linebacker job, where Jimmy Gaines, Kelvin Cain and Jordan Futch are competing.

Perryman (137 tackles, four sacks as a senior) “is just as good as, if not better than” fellow Coral Gables alums Jonathan Vilma and Daryl Sharpton, Gables coach Joe Montoya told Barrow. Georgia-based Johnson, 6-1, wasn’t as heavily recruited but Golden likes his size (238 pounds) and quickness. And he’s stout against the run.

• Defensive line: Coordinator Mark D’Onofrio told the ends “they need to be worried about” Anthony Chickillo (18 sacks in 2010) because “the guy has the whole package.” So, he’ll play right away? “I hope so,” Golden said. “You want him in the foxhole with you.” Homestead’s Ricardo Williams “has good burst, long arms,” Golden said, and has bulked up. Adewale Ojomo, Olivier Vernon, Marcus Robinson, Andrew Smith and Chickillo figure to be UM’s top five ends, in some order.

Nevada’s Jalen Grimble, who originally committed to Southern California, can play end at 285 pounds, but Golden said he wants him at tackle for now. Golden warns not to underestimate tackles King (if eligible) and Darius Smith, even though they signed late for academic reasons.

NFL first-round pick “ Muhammed Wilkerson signed late with us at Temple,” Golden said. “Darius is 300 pounds, and King benches over 400, which gives them a chance to be in the mix right away.” Tackle Olsen Pierre, an early enrollee, showed flashes this spring. All will compete for time behind the clear-cut top three tackles: Marcus Forston, Curtis Porter , Micanor Regis.

• Defensive back: Thomas Finnie, UM’s second early enrollee, could seize one of the top four cornerback jobs with a good August. “Finnie works harder than anyone,” Golden said.

The staff wants to give a long look to Dallas Crawford, ESPN’s eighth-best cornerback prospect. He had 19 interceptions the past two years, and Golden likes defensive backs who played quarterback, as Crawford did, “because that shows he has leadership skills. Dallas can play safety or corner. We like to look at players at corner first, but the safety need is a little more pressing.” Rangy safety Thurston Armbrister, a late signee from Hollywood Hills, might redshirt.

• Running back: One reason Golden isn’t fretting Storm Johnson’s departure is because he’s so high on Kevin Grooms, who will battle Maurice Hagens and Darion Hall for carries behind Lamar Miller and Mike James. “Grooms has elite burst and lateral quickness,” Golden said. “And he’s an excellent punt and kick returner.” Grooms ran for 1,400 yards in 2010, with six punt returns for touchdowns.

• Receiver: UM has depth, so it can be patient with Melbourne’s Rashawn Scott and Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas’ Phillip Dorsett. Spence singled out Dorsett on WQAM 560 on Friday, noting he “has made a lot of great catches” this summer. Said Golden: “It struck me how fast Phillip is. Rashawn isn’t as heralded but has good length and was an excellent red-zone receiver.”

• Specialists: Golden views the kicker job as a tossup between junior Jake Wieclaw and freshman Matt Goudis, who was Rivals.com’s 13th-best kicker after making 12 of 16 field-goal attempts as a senior, including a 55-yarder. Dalton Botts, a junior-college transfer, was brought in to punt, but his 37.5-yard average was less than Goudis’ 40.0.

Chatter

• With dorms available for only part of August, Golden will have players stay in a hotel for three weeks next month — part of a plan to create an old-school camp similar to NFL teams.

• Although new offensive coordinator Brian Daboll got positive reviews from a few Dolphins after brief contact, one Browns player who played for Daboll last year said there wasn’t enough diversity in the receivers’ routes and that Daboll spent way too much time practicing things they never used in games. … Dolphins Hall of Famer Bob Griese approached Chad Henne this offseason with a simple message: Griese told him he wasn’t very good his first four seasons (58 touchdowns, 67 interceptions) and so Henne shouldn’t fret over last season. Like Dan Marino, Griese remains high on Henne. “Chad is going to be a very successful quarterback in the NFL,” Griese said.

• The Marlins need to know at some point if 2007 first-rounder Matt Dominguez will hit in the big leagues, but he hasn’t earned a promotion (.244 at Triple A). Plus, Emilio Bonifacio has done well playing most every day, including .325 against left-handers. Among other prominent prospects, catcher Kyle Skipworth, the 2008 first-rounder, is batting just .184 at Double A. Pitcher Chad James, the 2009 first-rounder, is 0-12 (3.54 ERA) at Single A, with opponents hitting .304. And lefty Sean West is 3-5, 6.41 ERA at Triple A. Pitcher Jose Fernandez, the Marlins’ first-round pick last month out of Tampa Alonso High, asked for a signing bonus more than double the team’s $1.6 million offer, but agent Richard Arena said Saturday he remains “very hopeful” a deal will be struck.

• Like in 2003, Marlins manager Jack McKeon has amused players unintentionally, such as calling Logan Morrison “LoGo” instead of “LoMo.” With Florida trailing by a run in the ninth inning of one game, players say he implored the team, “Let’s get a win for [ Mike] Dunn,” even though Dunn hadn’t pitched. It was the other lefty reliever, Randy Choate, who pitched the eighth. But players say McKeon, 80, has been sharp and alert on in-game decisions and struck a good balance between being firm but giving positive reinforcement.

Um, not to be an Axl Rose and all, but as much as I appreciate canechic on this blog, she and I would fall under the played out wrestling cliche of, "wacky mismatched tag partners who don't see eye to eye." Like, for example, the Gangstanators, Austin and HBK, The Rock and Sock Connection, etc. simply because I'm 12% and she's anything but.

Just because I think we have better players than most others think of them left by the previous coach for the current one to deploy doesn't mean I'm off the bandwagon for '11, it just mean I'm driving it in a different lane than most others would.

SOUP, I like you big guy, I really do, but we have a little issue;

A C- is not a mistake, it's a disappointment when your AD is running his mouth about how money is not an object when he's got a foot out the door to a perennial third tier in their own state job. A F is a mistake. Kind of like the F Temple would have gotten from me as an alum hiring Addabozo from UF to replace Golden.

I didn't say he failed at Temple, but he did fall short of preseason expectations every single year there. The great thing about Temple is you can do that every single year and still be considered a, "success." At Miami, not so much.

I have consistently repeated he can succeed here and I expect him to do so once he gets a little more experience under his belt as a coach. Give him three years and he should be up to speed since he'll have almost a decade of HC experience to draw on including the all important almost half of it in a big boy league.

I think some people have over-hyped his recruiting skills to date but I'm telling you it's too early to really have a bead on what he'll do at UM in that department even though his first signing class was disappointing to me in some respects but he's done a good job after NSD making up for missing the QB slot with a freshman by getting the Memphis transfer.

Look, I believe Golden has a roster now that has the best chance to live up to his accompanying career coaching hype better than any other one has in his career to date. Who does he have to thank for that I wonder? I also think the Jimmy's and Joe's will make the X's and O's look better than they did in Philly for five years in the MAC as long as Fisch doesn't screw this up too royally and if Golden's roomie can keep the interior DL healthy enough to stay effective and doesn't get too slick with their beloved 3-4 to the point of getting run over by the two option teams we have in our division.

Just hope we don't end up in the opener with a replay of the '08 Owls-Huskies showdown from week 2 of that season, a living breathing definition of a barn burner that turned on a weird go for it 4th and 1 from your own 35 call, rarely seen I'd wager SOUP'ster: http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=282500218

AWESOME! Can't wait.

canechic

I am no longer defending anything about this program until I see results. I defend Randy because to me he is a true Cane who I felt got treated poorly. Do I defend him as a head coach? Maybe he was just not cut out for the job. I cannot however stand the name calling and pure hate thrown at the man. You and I know he loves this program. Lived and breathed it much longer than most of us. It really upsets me because I know how disrespectful and unappreciative many, many, many of the "entitled" players are.....more than any of you believe.

Soup why doesn't have to be all or nothing with Golden? I think we all like him as a person but as a coach he has proved nothing. Sure he says the right things but all will be proven on Saturdays. I do think he has an advantage in that Whipple is gone. I really believe Whipple was a cancer on this team and caused lots of friction.

canesteeler

Canechic Randy was a disaster, I wanted him to succeed because of his ties to the program and the fact black men are not given many opportunites to be head coaches. Randy comes across as a miserable person who is not willing to change. I wish him nothing but luck in his future endeavors but stay the hell away from my Canes!

CGNC

LOL I have blogged over at his site before and been treated well. He has his opinions like we all do.

canechic

I am just amazed at how quickly he went from a very successful defensive coach, churning out great player after great player, to what everyone calls a complete and utter failure? I really have no idea about the day to day functions of the coaching staff, only hear rumors and some of those rumors I know are slanted. I tend to believe that there were issues and problems but they were not all Randy. Maybe he was just not head coach material. Now I know the behavior of players first hand and honestly if I was the coach none of them would be playing, some of them don't even deserve to be on the team.

CGNC

My neighbor down the street is a Nole that I ran into the other day and asked him if he was excited about the season. He lit up and said YES - how about you? I said, well I am hoping for them to be better but really not "excited" until I see improvement like they are actually prepared to play. He told me that he really wants Miami to get better and was interested to see what Golden can do, that he thinks he is light years ahead of RS already with the camps and things. It was a nice convo between fans of two teams that are rivals.

CGNC

Canechic and Canesteeler - The admin let us down with that hire seeing how disastrous Coker was with no head coaching experience. I think RS really wanted the job, didn't cost them much and gave it a shot. Didn't work out, that's all.

canechic

CGNC, yes, that I think is what makes me angry with all the hate. Donna asked him to clean up the program he did and got canned. Lee Corso said the same thing. The whole mess just leaves a bitter taste in my mouth.

Hopefully Golden turns things around. I hope he stays for at least 2 years but I think this is just a stepping stone for him. I hope his wife can handle living in Miami with little kids....really that fact makes more nervous. More coaches leave Miami because their wives can't stand living there. We shall see....I am just on the wait and see plan!

TonyCane

One question for the small minority that believe that the Canes will shock the world and go 14-0 this season....if that comes to pass who will be the HC in 2012? Because if Al Golden leads Miami to a National Championship in his first year he will become the hottest HC in the country. Penn State for one will be well on their way to constructing a Death Star sized tractor beam to yank him up to Happy Valley.

Could we be talking about Mike Leach (AGAIN) in January?

mike james for heisman

I'm on OGV's side in the OGV vs. Soup battle.

I also agree with canechic on Randy Shannon. I don't consider him a failure.

Soup, vault me all you want, but I was not impressed with Al Golden's on-the-field coaching at Temple. He really benefitted from a Big East-to-MAC move. But he is pretty well-known for not finishing seasons out well, even in the MAC. To me, how a coach finishes a season says more than his record, especially in the college ranks.

I don't get your "you are either with him or against him mentality". I'm not against him, but he has to prove himself here, because he certainly did not prove anything while he was at Temple. If Duke went and played in the MAC next year they would probably be better than 9-4.

"Just sayin"

mike james for heisman

Tony Cane,

I think that Al Golden success will lead to a Penn State hire. If we were to go 14-0 you bet he would be a Penn State. I think the next Miami head coach would be Mario Cristobol.

Tony Cane,

I think Mike Leach is just a successful person with a lot to prove. I want to see him coaching soon. I'd take him in a heartbeat but I don't think he would fit in under Donna's regime.

Ok, so we don't see eye to eye on everything but on this I can completely cosign. Golden was a hotshot DC at 31 who's recruiting for his 3-4 at UVA never produced the kind of results you would suspect with Kai Parham and Ahmad Brooks manning half the spots.

Then he was a hotshot HC prospect at Temple who's recruiting (but not player development, I'll happily concede) was always disappointing considering he had a good school in a historic US city to sell instead of some podunk burg in the northeast like his competition was representing. Finally he takes them to one bowl, a nothing game against one of the worst pac-10 .500 teams in UCLA history that was decimated by QB injuries and was playing in the cold in Washington across the country and he gets his team to jump out to a lead in the first half. Then he gets shut out in the 2nd and loses by almost double digits, end of best season of his career as a coach. http://scores.espn.go.com/ncf/recap?gameId=293630218

This is supposed to somehow impress me or any other Hurricane fan? Let's wait to see what he does with the ESPN 2008 ranked #1 recruiting class' senior year (junior for the redshirt takers) first before saying a golden era has already begun in Miami. Plus, when did mentioning what a coach has done in his career become an attack on the guy, was this before or after Leach telling the spoiled brat progeny of a guy who took slush fund money in college by the wheelbarrow-full to sit in a dark place with his headache made him a loose cannon of nuclear proportions?

As for Golden's wife and Miami child rearing, she put up with Philly for five years and didn't complain too much, Miami can't really be any worse on that regard and the weather definitely is an improvement.

That's because Duke is a deceptively tough place to play, you have to walk a ways from the locker-room to the stadium, or so I've heard somewhere before. Cutcliffe has proven more than Golden to me in his coaching career so far too, I'd switch head coaches in an instant with Duke at this point, but not rosters of players thankfully.

I wanted him to succeed because of his ties to the program and the fact black men are not given many opportunites to be head coaches.

Steeler...just like U and me EVERYONE wanted Randy to suceed and I mean everyone you can even think of. It's just unfortunate for ALL involved that it didn't work out. But like U said, now we all have to move on.

dj moonbat

I've got no interest in badmouthing Golden, but I really wanted Shannon to succeed. The guy bled orange and green. If Golden wins A LOT, it will all have been worth it. But if Miami continues to be less than a championship contender, what was the point?

SOUP

I think RS really wanted the job, didn't cost them much and gave it a shot. Didn't work out, that's all.

There IT is once again.

Old Skool

Great women's soccer game

USA down 2-1 and playing a player short, ties it in final few minutes added to the end of overtime to make up for play stoppage

The USA then wins the game on penalty kicks.

Old Skool

Actually, make that a great ending.

Otherwise you would have watched women run around for over two hours to lose 2-1.

mike james for heisman

How about the fact that whenever a coordinator is successful here, he will just get scooped up by another program? Can Miami keep good coaches? I think that is as big a weakness as any.

No, no, no mac, the country has been going to hell in a hand-basket over that stretch of time because UM football players would dance after a sack and draw attention to themselves on the way to another touchdown while in college! Hasn't the NCAA rule evolution process taught us anything during Miami's rise to the summit of the most recognizable brand in the sport?

Mike James for Heisman...U made a VERY astute observation above as did OGV about what I am up to here. We call it "kicking the ant pile" and it is intended to stir things up and generate some good discussion and boost comments when things are slow on the blog. We never take it too far or launch any personal attacks so its all good.

Now to address your previous comment I gotta challenge U some on that, so here goes:

I find it ironic that a guy who blogs under the name of "Mike James For Heisman" thinks that Golden did nothing to impress him while at Temple.

Look, anyone here can tell U that I LOVE Mike James. He was my legend of the Fall two years ago, I've taken several photos of him and with him at UM events and I just finished writing a blog about him (sent it to him via Twitter to which he replied very favorably).

But James has about as much chance of winning the Heisman this season as I do due to the fact that he will not be one of the pre-season favs and that small fact that Lamar Miller is likely to be the feature back and at the very least the two will have to share time at RB along with a lite sprinkling of Hall, Hagens and maybe even Grooms.

Now, go do your research on exactly what Golden did at Temple and then get back to me. If you are still not impressed then I'll accept it.

And just for the record I do NOT think Golden is God or that he's gonna win it all by waxing eloquent in a presser or by simply snapping his fingers. I already said several times that I expect a 9-3 season in 2011. I am NOT a 12%er (Not predicting a 12-0 season).

Q

I honestly didnt like the hire in Coach Golden a first. But I gave Randy a chance and he gets a chance also. Almost 8 months into the job im rooting for Coach Golden. His approach to taking on this job and the staff he hired..getting players to commit to his system and installing his core values and teaching these players. My take on recruiting is that he is getting pro style prototypical qbs..and various good south florida players some could wait but I love all of these players . I wont do a prediction on the season. But this will be one of the best teams in awhile. Go.canes

TonyCane

Question for you all...based on impressions so far with Golden and knowledge of what happened in the Shannon regime, how do you think AG would have done if he had taken over after Coker, and not now? Same recruiting results? Better?

canechic

Mac you know I am not ever afraid to say my peace! Some people may not like what I say but I really am a very honest person who calls it like I see it.

I have defended some aspects of this program while wearing my orange and green glasses. But those days are long gone. I have been wrong actually way wrong in some of my assessments in the past. Now my eyes are wide open and I will wait for the results to show on the field. And I like wins but what I most want is effort and a complete change in attitude. No more whining and more working.

OmarU

I think his recruiting would be about the same. He probably would have still got most of the local talent. ( nw boys etc.) I think we would be much further along as a team now since most of those players would be more developed. Golden seems like he has vision and he's relentless.

Felipe.

The Opening. According to Johnson, who along with Brown committed to UM as a junior, the Homestead duo might just be the first of several players they recruited during the trip out West to commit to UM over the next couple days.

"We got two so far, but we ain't done yet," said Johnson, a 5-9, 175-pound scatback considered one of the country's Top 150 high school seniors according to ESPN. "We're very close to getting tight end [and USF commitment] Sean Price [North Marion, Fla]. [Miami Columbus safety and ESPN Top 150 recruit] Deon [Bush] too. We spent a lot of time working it, talking to [Miami Beach safety] Ricardo Louis. [Miramar cornerback] Tracy Howard. [Tampa Berkley Prep athlete] Nelson Agholor.

"Guys see what's going on at Miami and they want to be a part of it. They're excited by the fact of all the guys who are committed and they look at the talent coming in this year. If we all go together and we all keep our talent and go together we have a chance of doing something special. Herb and James saw that."

The Hurricanes now have 22 non-binding, verbal commitments as part of their 2012 signing class. Most experts expect UM to sign upwards of 30 to 35 recruits. ESPN currently ranks UM's class ninth best in the country.

"Herb always knew inside UM is where he always wanted to be," Johnson said. "It was just the fact of doing it. Herb said he didn't want to go unless his linebacker went with him. James father graduated from UM, it was just a plus. Once James decided to go ahead and commit, so did Herb."

Homestead coach Bobby McCray said he still hasn't had a chance to speak with either of his players about their commitments, but confirmed with their families that the players had pledged to UM. James' mother, Lakeisha, said her son was "happy to be a Hurricane."

What ESPN was saying on recruiting back in:

2006
17. Miami, Fla.: B-
Coaching changes right in the thick of recruiting season didn't help. Though they lost QB Patrick Devlin to Penn State, they landed a huge RB prospect in Kylan Robinson, a transfer from Anchorage, Alaska who burst on to the scene in Tampa

2007

9. Miami
The Hurricanes got off to a good start with their 2007 class, landing players such as the nation's No. 2-rated guard, Harland Gunn (Omaha, Neb./Central). Things came to a screeching halt, however, as head coach Larry Coker battled through bad press and eventually was fired. Miami lost some prospects but, since the hiring of Randy Shannon, has been making up for lost time. The Canes lured QB Robert Marve (Tampa, Fla./Plant), who was named Mr. Football in the state of Florida, away from Alabama. Shannon really showed an ability to close, landing one of the premier defensive prospects in Allen Bailey (Darien, Ga./ McIntosh Academy). When Shannon was hired, he quickly worked to re-establish roots in South Florida by landing versatile and athletic defender Adewale Ojomo (Hialeah, Fla.). Miami has had several big and quick defensive tackles over the years and secured another one recently. One-time Miami commit Chris Perry (Keller, Texas/Fossil Ridge) de-committed and switched to Nebraska, only to recently decide to re-commit to the Hurricanes. On signing day, Shannon was able to land RB Lee Chambers (Coffeeville, Miss./Coffeeville) to increase the speed in Miami's backfield.

2008

1. Miami
12 ESPN 150 prospects
Coach Randy Shannon did an outstanding job landing top-tier defensive talent in his first full recruiting class. The Canes boast five of the top seven outside linebackers, led by the top three -- Arthur Brown (Wichita, Kan./East), Sean Spence (Miami/Northwestern) and signing day recommit Ramon Buchanan (Melbourne, Fla./Palm Bay). The talent continues up front with Marcus Fortson (Miami/ Northwestern), the country's No. 1-rated defensive tackle. Taylor Cook (Eagle Lake, Texas/Rice) and Jacory Harris (Miami/Northwestern) have different types of games but are both quality quarterback prospects. ESPN 150 receivers Aldarius Johnson (Miami/Northwestern) and Davon Johnson (Miami/Booker T. Washington) both project to haul in a bunch of balls in their careers.

I'm going to bid first, and say the line should be 34.

LOL I have blogged over at his site before and been treated well. He has his opinions like we all do.

The guy constantly blasts miami, he has the most biased opinion against the u, for whatever reason it's like he's just offended by all things canes, he writes for an fsu blog i get that, but why the hell does he keep writing articles about miami on an fsu site just to talk smack about our team, i mean c'mon, write something about your team, jeez, i don't have respect for guys who are homer duffus like him, it's one thing to have an opinion, it's another thing to be completely closed-minded and just write stuff b'coz he thinks fsu will never have bad years, atleast SOUP never writes stuff about other teams just to make fun of em', and he is decent enough to just write stuff about our beloved canes without being unrealistic and bias.

Bossman Shannon isn't head coaching material

I wanted to see him succeed in the worst way ... but last year, I said screw it, this experiment is over

You could even say, look at the cats he had playing for him on defense when he was a DCoordinator at Miami ... not real hard to look like a genius with those guys

Why was there such a detachment from how many high schools, even in their own backyard, by Miami when Bossman Shannon was coach? What was it that Lakeland Kathleen (Ray Lewis's alma mater for damn sakes) Head Coach said about Miami and Gionni Paul? He said that Miami wasn't even interested him, didn't even give him the time of day, even though Gionni loved the Canes, but he committed to Arizona State ... until Golden stepped in

What did Jadeveon Clowney say to me at the Underarmour All-Star game in St.Pete when I asked him if he had any interest in Miami? He said yes, but the coaching staff has never even contacted me in any way ... I asked him about the new coaching staff that was coming into place, Jadeveon said he'd still be interested, even that late in the recruiting game

How the hell do you not even talk to this kid? My guy Paul G basically yelled through the phone at me about how stupid Miami was for not contacting that kid while he was there at Miami, when Jadeveon was still a Soph or Junior

The guy does bleed orange and green, no doubt - but why is it that a guy who played at Penn State and also his DCoordinator that was a teammate of his at Penn State (who both played against Miami), are the ones that are treating the former Canes a hell of a lot better and begging the former Canes to come back to the program?

Why in the f*ck did Randall Thrill Hill have to get a damn sideline pass from a friend of his from FSU for the Canes/Noles game, when he was promised one from Miami, but then told they couldn't get him one ... even though I saw Brian Monroe and Francesco Zampogna with sideline passes, standing right next to me at that game? I talked to Thrill on the phone a few times, still in disbelief as he told me that Randy never returned his many many phone calls ... Thrill wasn't upset about it, just confused as hell why he never got a return call - EVER

How many of these players do you think are going to be mocking Golden behind his back, publicly for other players to see, joking on him, giving him no respect? I think the ones that were going to do that, were the guys that transferred out

It's not personal with Bossman Shannon, it's business

Also, as I said somewhere else, you'd be really interested in what a certain Heisman winning QB for the Canes had to say about Shannon off the air/off the record and what helped land him that job .. Coker wasn't too happy with it either

The guy is gone. Time to move on and move up

Golden already has the program running better than when the former coach was running it - still think it's hilarious the amount of money the former coach/staff was charging to go to a Canes camp, as opposed to what Golden and Company are charging now
