Here is the insider report on the Canespace game plan for game day against Kansas State.
On game day we will meet at the Hampton Inn in Plantation which is located near University Drive and 595 and about 20 minutes from Sun Life Stadium. The Hampton Inn phone number is: 954-382-4500.
For the hotel's street address, directions and map please click here:
http://www.hamptoninn.com/en/hp/hotels/maps_directions.jhtml?ctyhocn=FLLPTHX
We will meet at 11 AM in the lobby , leave the hotel and be at the stadium at 11:30 AM when the gates open. As always we will park in the ORANGE lot on the EAST side (near East 22). Since we will be there early we will likely park very close to the stadium although it is directional parking so we have no idea where they will send us.
There will be other activities on Friday night from 7 to 9 PM at Duffy's Sports Grill on University Drive just north of I-595 which is also near the hotel. Here is the address and the phone number: 811 S. University Dr., Plantation, FL, 33324 PHONE: 954-473-0477.
OK, so we know it is not South Beach with the neon lights, the art deco hotels and the thousands of half naked women running around. But we guarantee that you will not get sand in your shorts and that you will have a good time.
Duffy's is a really upscale and classy sports bar with great food and as many large screen TVs with various sports events on that you could ever want to watch. And the scenery isn't too bad either if that's your thing.
All Canespacers will get 10% off of their bill at Duffy's because I know people who know people. The hotel will take us all there in a shuttle so nobody has to drink and drive IF you are staying at The Hampton.
Also on Friday night from 9-11 PM there will be a Canespace "Party on the Patio" at the Hampton Inn for TALKING TRASH with other UM fans after dinner at Duffy's Sports Grill.
Any questions? If so, email me at: canespace86@aol.com.

Miami Hurricanes game day now has a new tradition after the resounding success of the Hurricane Walk at last weekend's home opener.
It was a such a successful event that head coach Al Golden praised the welcome and the fans immediately after the game with the ESPN sideline reporter and the local media.
Hurricane fans are invited to take part in the inaugural Hurricane Walk by forming a "human tunnel" from Gate H (Southwest Corner of Stadium) to Gate A.
Join your fellow Hurricanes, the Band of the Hour, Sebastian and the cheer squads as the 2011 Miami Hurricanes football team walks from its arrival point into Sun Life Stadium.
To take part in this event and welcome the Canes in grand fashion, make sure you are at Gate H two (2) hours prior to kickoff when the team arrives. For the Kansas State game, make sure you are on site for the Hurricane Walk by 1:20 p.m.

Its obvious that S17 has a better arm and is more athletic than j12, but I think J12 has more supporters in the Canes locker room, and J12 did do a better job of managing the game. Even though I am not a big fan of J12, the QB job for 2011 has been J12's job to loose for a while.
If S17 does not win the starting job this year (and I do not think he will), he will have a difficult time beating out Ryan Williams, who also has a strong arm but is a manager of the game. Williams won the state championship a couple of years ago in 6A, and that is not easy in FLa. It will be an interesting QB competition next year. If he is a good as his high school teammate, Geno Smith, has been in college, Williams will be the starter for the Canes in 2012 and S17 will be a very capable backup.
If the sanctions do not decimate the Canes roster over the next 4 years, Golden will build something special in Coral Gables.

The UM web site www.hurricanesports.com puts out more info and articles and video that you can even watch in a day if you have ANY life at all.
Then U have several free blogs and web sites that cover everything else. Then U have Twitter and Facebook sites on top of that.
How much do U really need each and every day anyway? Dude it ain't crack it is just college sports. Give it a rest!

Bethune wins on a replay that was iffy at best. Good for them though. They fought hard to get back in the game and won it at the end. They are no match for us but it was better to watch that than the NC State game. I am a college football junkie but no, like some other things, I never pay for it.
The interesting part of the replay was this. It was second down, and Hampton threw the ball for what was marked one yard short of the first down, at the Bethune 13. The first down marker was between the 12 and 13. In fact, replay clearly showed it should have been marked at the 12.
Hampton then messed up time management, there were 44 seconds when the catch was made. They ended up calling a time out with like 23 seconds left. Replay buzzed in after the time out, and determined the catch was a first down. However, they did not add any time to the clock. Since the catch was a first down according to replay, it seems like replay could have both placed the spot of the ball correctly and should have given Hampton a play stoppage at 44 seconds.
I don't know the rules on it but it just didn't seem right to me.

From the AP
MANHATTAN, Kan. — He’s not quite King Arthur of Kansas just yet. The start that linebacker Arthur Brown has gotten off to with Kansas State may earn him that nickname in due time, though.
Through two games with the Wildcats, Brown has already racked up 19 tackles and led a retooled defense that has hardly surrendered a point. He’s living up to the hype that comes with being a one-time high-profile recruit, and that only grew after he transferred from Miami and spent last season terrorizing the Kansas State offense as a member of the scout team.

Weigh In Corrections?
inShare“Nothing’s changed with Arthur,” wide receiver Curry Sexton said. “I’m sure he’s got a little fire inside of him that’s burning a little bit harder than usual this week.”
Yes, that fire is certainly stoked. Brown is leading the Wildcats back to Miami to face his former team on Saturday.
“Arthur’s just an even-keeled guy. He doesn’t change demeanor no matter the circumstances,” Sexton said. “Arthur’s just going to go out and play his game like he does every weekend. We’re not worried about Arthur and any distractions he might have. That’s just the kind of guy he is.”
Brown and his brother, Bryce, who is also in his first season with the Wildcats after transferring from Tennessee, were standouts at Wichita East High School.
The elder Brown spent two seasons with the Hurricanes — his name was mentioned in the Nevin Shapiro booster allegations, though he’s been cleared by the NCAA to compete. But it was a rocky tenure in Coral Gables, which included a position move and little playing time, and eventually Brown decided that he wanted to transfer closer to home.
Kansas State coach Bill Snyder was pleased to get him.
“I don’t think he lacked success there,” Snyder said. “I think he was just a young pup.”
Brown certainly hasn’t lacked success at Kansas State, where he leads the team in tackles and has exemplified a new level of speed on a defense that is trying to kick last season’s reputation as one of the worst in the country.
Snyder said it has been difficult for the Wildcats to emulate the Hurricanes’ speed in practice, but Brown has a pretty good idea of what they’ll be going up against.
And he’s giving the rest of the players the same kind of picture.
“We’re flying around on defense,” safety Tysyn Hartman said. “We’re playing a lot faster than we did last year. We’re excited to play; we’re excited to be out there, running on and off the field.”
Sexton said he doesn’t know whether there’s a Miami linebacker who runs better than Brown from side to side, and Hartman made it clear that Brown is the fastest defensive player for Kansas State — pretty high praise coming from a guy who occasionally returns punts for the Wildcats.
“His cat-like quickness is just unreal,” Sexton said. “Sometimes you see a little tiny hole open up, and you think the offense has a shot to make a big play, and then Arthur shows up in the hole. He reacts so quickly. He kind of has an uncanny ability to just read the offense and make plays.”
What makes his stellar play even more entertaining, teammates said, is that his workmanlike approach never changes, no matter how much success Brown experiences. That’s one of the reasons they voted him a captain before he ever played a down that counts in purple.
“We knew he was going to play well, but we didn’t know he was going to play this well, and we’re excited for him,” Hartman said. “We know he can still get better. He’s learning even in the games. He’ll make a mistake early in the game, and it’ll be corrected when we’re watching film later in the game. As good as he is, just through experience he’s going to get better.”

You know, that patio does look kind of familiar to me too raize, except it's missing something . . . or is that a pair of somethings to help me place it exactly and is that an inflatable pool toy I see in the water there too or are my eyes deceiving me? Will it be nice to see former Cane commit Bryce Brown and his brother, former Cane Arthur, who now play at K-State?

"Many will harp on the two early interceptions, but choose to do so without praising the two touchdowns or other clutch plays throughout the game that propelled the Canes to victory – especially that final fourth quarter drive, chewing up the majority of the fourth quarter and kept alive a few times by Harris’ legs or arm." -CB @ AllCanesBlog.

CGNC: rollbacks are: Lope/Canter down a line; stop, back up, turn your head and your horses head in the direction you want to go, then execute a 180 turn back into the lope. Not that I do it, but they tell me the technique is important for cutting. As you can probably tell, it's not as easy as it sounds and there are a lot of things to think about all at once.

What's more boring, football commentators during a lightning delay or NASCAR commentators during a rain delay.
Would you think since being on the air since 1979 ESPN would have a guy watching the weather 8 hours ahead of schedule so they could have an interesting plan b ready to roll?
Posted by: solarcane | September 23, 2011 at 04:42 PM
Jim Rome and Golden are delayed because the NASCAR qualifying drivers don't want to kill themselves on a wet azzed track. ESPN is determined to hang in there till no one is watching then go ahead and move on.

Just arrived at The Hampton.
ftmcane...I found two excellent club seats (face value of $165 each) and a parking pass ($30 value) for $200.
That is a $360 value for $200.
If U are interested I need to know by 9 AM.

I'll vote for the NASCAR rain delay. They actually show those huge blower trucks going around the track at 10 MPH as IF that was interesting to watch. GET REAL!

odd dream, KS scored on their opening drive to go 7-0, first set of downs, maybe first pLAY JH threw a pick,ks score, 14-0. The board blows up everyone screaming for SM, at halfttime KS lead 14-3. JH has 2 picks at the half.
bad omen, but no final score so I'll finish it, Canes rally for a 24-17 win.
Canes 24 KS 17

Solar - didn't see the Eagles/Falcons game (too late for an old guy like me), but today driving home from airport guys on 790 the Zone were bashing Bosher pretty good -
sounds like our boy has been shanking his fair share lately.
Didn't sound good - even Schultz in the AJC was taking some shots at him. Hope he rallies.
