Can U smell what The Rock is cookin'? It is almost game day and that means it is time to strap up, lock and load and get your game face on!
Here is the insider report on the Canespace game plan for game day against Ohio State:
On game day we will meet at the Hampton Inn in Plantation which is located near University Drive and 595 and about 20 minutes from Sun Life Stadium. The Hampton Inn phone number is: 954-382-4500.
For the hotel's street address, directions and map please click here:
http://www.hamptoninn.com/en/hp/hotels/maps_directions.jhtml?ctyhocn=FLLPTHX
We will meet at 1 PM in the lobby and leave the hotel at 1:30 PM and be at the stadium at 2 PM and park in the ORANGE lot on the EAST side. Since we will be there early we will likely park very close to the stadium although it is directional parking so we have no idea where they will send us.
If you want to hook up at the hotel or tailgate email me your cell number to: canespace86@aol.com.
There will be other activities on Friday night from 6 to 8 PM in Plantation at Duffy's Sports Grill on University Drive just north of I-595 which is also near the hotel. Here is the address and the phone number: 811 S. University Dr., Plantation, FL, 33324 PHONE: 954-473-0477.
OK, so we know it is not South Beach with the neon lights, the art deco hotels and the thousands of half naked women running around. But we guarantee that you will not get sand in your shorts and that you will have a good time.
Duffy's is a real upscale and classy sports bar with great food and as many large screen TVs with various sports events on that you could ever want to watch. And the scenery isn't too bad if I do say so myself!
All Canespacers will get 10% off of their bill at Duffy's because I know people who know people. The hotel will take us all there in a shuttle so nobody has to drink and drive IF you are staying at The Hampton.
Also on Friday night from 9-11 PM there will be a Canespace "Party on the Patio" at the Hampton Inn for TALKING TRASH with other UM and possibly even some OSU fans after dinner at Duffy's Sports Grill.
Any questions? If so, email me at: canespace86@aol.com.

Yes, it lead 29-0 before the other team RAN ONE OFFENSE PLAY. Crazy

say after tacking on a 15 yd penalty and kicking from the 45 Bosher couldn't top the ball through the first wave,( say the return team anticipates an onside kick and has 9 guys up front) the gunners drop the kick returners and the ball rolls into the endzone with Bosher falling on it?

I think I'm going to go to the K-state game by myself and meet my cousins at the game so I might meet you all at the Hampton and catch a ride with one of the Legion next week.

Texas great article about the young lady with concussion. I really felt for her.
Blake Ayers out for year? Sad that guy has not been on the field in college career. He was playing at USC with Reggie Bush..no Anthony Davis....no OJ....guys been around and not played or done much. Sad, cause we could reinstate the TE position we have been without for so long...makes huge difference. My 12 year old TE caught 6 in yesterdays scrimmage and a 2 TDs in Red Zone. Someone tell AG...
Solar, the Hendrix box set is too good, 8 lps from Winterland 10/68.....incredible stuff from the most influential guitarist in rock....JMO

Posted by: solarcane | September 16, 2011 at 10:20 AM
Yes. I'm pretty sure that although that sounds like something that never WOULD happen, it would not contravene any rules. (The kick would have to hit the ground before the gunners dropped the returners, though, or they'd get a penalty for interfering with the ability to catch the kick; Bosher would have to bloop the kick in between the first wave and the return guys.)
Posted by: dj moonbat | September 16, 2011 at 01:21 PM
Impressed with J12 taking the hit for last years picks. He has never been a guy to blame others; showing a lot of maturity, cause the receivers could have helped. That was last year so I dont care now. I really think he is going to make a difference in the game; his play will be critical. I think he has learned some things, as a person and player.
The keys will be...here I go like a record with a skip in it...
Turnovers cannot have any tomorrow. No stupid penalties...Big Keys here!!!
OL played about half a game against MD...time to step up for 4 Q, 60 minutes. We need to pound their tails into the ground then stomp on their heads. You guys need to show up for a full game, you should be exhausted at end.
DL same thing. Full strength time to step up...stuff run...punish their QB. I would love a knockout here.
LBs tackle, DBs cover.
Special teams play well again, good job vs MD.
If we win the trenches, we run big time and pressure on D. Run gives time for pass. Then its on J12 to really step up and sahow what he has learned. No pressure, just be smart. You can do it J12, looking for ward to good game from you buddy.
We execute the basics, play smart, no TOs...and leaders lead. I look for J12 to lead, Spence and Forston to lead. If this happens, we win!!!
Go Canes this one we need to get back on track.
Posted by: VA Cane | September 16, 2011 at 01:32 PM
Horrible story. One of the top QB's in Virginia gets tackled, breaks his knee cap, then has to have part of his leg amputated. Wow, my heart goes out to that kid and his family...

I think if Fisch and J12 stay patient, this game's probably in the bag. UM can run the ball sufficiently well that they won't NEED the big passing play very badly. And if the 'Canes don't feel like they have to make the Big Play, the TOs will probably be manageable. (I simply can't bring myself to expect zero turnovers with this team anymore. They just haven't shown that they have that capability. But one turnover can be overcome if they don't lose their heads.)
Posted by: dj moonbat | September 16, 2011 at 01:54 PM
So, out of curiosity, I went back through time to find out when UM last had zero turnovers. It was November 28, 2009, against USF.

Almost game day at Sun Life Stadium (am I the only one who thinks that sounds like the Old Folks Home?). Prediction time: Miami 27, Oh. State 23. I've changed my mind on this one 4 times, but I'll stick with a close win for the good guys.

VaCane.
you can't beat Hendrix for being ahead of his time in his craft.
I have often wondered way back when I saw Joey Dee and the Starliters singing Peppermint Twist at the Seven Seas Lounge if that was indeed unknowns, Jimmy Hendrix and Joe Pesci playing guitars.
Seeing the Twisters evolve into the Young Rascals then The Rascals over the years was pretty awesome also.
I'm envious of your collection.
I wish had held onto all the stuff I let slip through my fingers.
You are a smart guy to hang on to everything.

Man, that's crazy, and the thing about that injury is that it probably didn't look serious when it happened. I remeber when Bo Jackson got hurt, it didn't look serious in real time, but when they showed it in slow motion, it kinda made you cringe. But nonetheless, it's good to see this young man's spirits are up...

Here is an act I went to see in Miami all the time. We tried to copy everything they did
James Brown used to go nuts watching The CC Riders, Wilson Pickett said they were the ultimate white soul band of all time.
Michael Jackson stole a lot of good stuff from their act also.
I saw Mitch Ryder and Cochran doing Jenny Take a Ride together sometime in the 70s and it was crazy.
Maybe the baddest assed hair cut in history.

That's horribly unfortunate. Hope his grades are in order, because that football scholly is gone (intellect is a much more robust commodity than athletic ability which is dependent upon an intact body). Bosher would be playing wide on the on-sides team (if I were coaching); one of the guys charged with flying in there and smacking the would-be recipient of the kick.
That's where I'd put him, lol.
And of course C-Mac on the punt return team so he could execute one of his famous crack-backs. Those 2 were fun to watch on special teams, as was Corey Nelms.
Eduardo Clements seems to be the guy this year on ST from a coverage stand point.

Let's hope when the dust settles that one of the casualties is the NCAA!! Could you imagine if we ducked that shyt pile that Shapiro left us if all the schools started their own league? I'm sure Oregon, Auburn, OSU, Boise, USC, etc, etc, etc can!

Posted by: Sarasota 'cane | September 17, 2011 at 01:02 AM
VA you are right. Unfortunately, the base is reasonably concerned right now, for good reason. I sense a tepid response to the Canes right now. I would not be surprised if a third of the fans at the game tomorrow are OSU fans. We used to get that in the OB too but our fans were more passionate than fans are today.
Soup didn't report he was overwhelmed by fans at Duffy's. Jer said "Great turnout at Monty's today by hundreds of Canes fans. I think the fan base is ready for the game." Is the Cane fan base in the hundreds or thousands? As for myself, I was stoked for last year's game on Monday of game week. I read every article and had my blood boiling thinking we were going to win. I saw a real chance to put this program back on track for good. Game starts, we get both a kickoff return and punt return and then lay the proverbial golden egg. Who was most responsible? Travis Benjamin for blocking on an audible called to him, and Jacory for turning the ball over early when a D lineman made a great play on the INT and then a late throw by Jacory when we were in the red zone.
My point, and I know I have taken awhile to get here, is that we are supposed to believe that these same players have changed within a year and won't make the same mistakes. I would also add that on one of OSU's touchdown runs, Spence was obliterated on a sweep to his side. Again, all these guys might be that much better this year but what did Maryland show us? A different game plan but the same propensity to find a way to lose.
The big positive from the Maryland game was that the special teams were as good as it gets, on par with what they were during the Jimmy Johnson era. But as last year's OSU game and this year's Maryland game showed, winning the special teams, in and of itself, doesn't guarantee a win. And after last year, you know OSU has practiced them extra this week.
Miller had a very good game running the ball against Maryland but don't expect the same against OSU. They scheme big ten football which is about running the football. They will shut it down. Then it is up to Jacory to make plays. I love Jacory but it is hard to trust him.
Can we shutdown OSU running game? I am not sure, even with Spence back. The supposed run plug in the middle didn't play a great game last week, and Forston is a player who sometimes fatigues in the South Florida heat. Jimmy Gaines is all heart I am sure but he will have to show tremendous improvement to shut down the OSU running game. If he doesn't, I am not sure what is behind him will do so.
With all the skepticism above, I think at low scoring game favors UM. If it is 20-17, we win. But if mistakes happen that are turned into TDs for OSU, whether those mistakes are on offense or defense, or special teams, look out. It could be a long night.

I would like to see Syracuse, Pittsburg, Connecticut and Texas added to the ACC, and let Texas keep its TV contract. It won't matter if we kick their A each year, and we would.

That lineup is possible. I really like USF and UCF but this is about television sets, not rivalries. FIU can rot in hell as far as I'm concerned!
Let's go 'canes!

Nothing good ever happens at an airshow!
Why are these planes allowed to fly at over 500mph near the grandstands? Every year it's one colossal tragedy after another!
Note to self: Do not go to an airshow!
RIP Reno airshow fan's.

I don't think we have much to gain by letting the competing state schools join the ACC. These school are up and comers in some ways, and I would include FIU in the short term until someone hires Cristobal away from them, but they have nothing to lose and everything to gain by playing us.
That is how each of our conference games are, our in state rival with Florida State and every out of conference game we schedule. Ohio State gets two patsies to develop and we got to fight tooth and nail through our schedule. Yes, when Miami was an up and comer, we had to do that to get respect. But that was 30 years ago. Now we should reap some benefit from that respect and make a schedule that allows the team to gel first before it faces harder tests. That is what all these teams do but us.

That air show was tragic. Yet, I have attended air shows over the years, and never sensed a danger. Did I read it correctly that a 74 year old pilot was involved in the crash? I am not into discriminating against the elderly but really, 74 years old? I lost both parents and Grandparents to heart attacks and other ailments at or near that age. I think it was incredibly risky to allow someone that age to perform in that type of show.

Wow, I am not getting that information. Here, the death toll is being upped to 12, which is certainly high. I did read a witness account about body parts which would suggest maybe a higher number. But I agree with you somewhat on the utility of it. Yet, our next fighter Ace may evolve from watching this type of show. I don't think the show is the issue but rather its proximity to spectators and, again, the pilot's age is a concern.

Ok, I have bled Orange and Green for most of my life, and I will tomorrow, win or lose. I have supported Canes teams when they were 3-8, and that was a good year in the 1970's, and I will support them to the day I die. So win or lose, guys like me are your base, and we want to believe in you. In fact, we are desperate to believe in you. This isn't any game, it is what each of you guys who signed in 2008 OWE us, for all the disappointments up to this point. You either perform tomorrow or you will be an afterthought, and an experiment in college football that will never be repeated. If you have little brothers, or cousins, you can best be assured the chances afforded you will not be available to them. You either man up and win, or you run your sorry butts back to the lower parts of Miami from whence you came. This is your time. Put up, shut up, or run your sorry butts home to your Mommas. And on that note, I am outta here.

raize;
You know, that I know, that you know, that I know that I owe you one big time after tonight man. You are f'ing aces (and 'Canes) in my book.
PS: I'd put a swift kick to the groin to make that sword bend instantly. If I had to (only as a last resort) and out of the purview of the official assigned to maintain a semblance of order.

Sounds like two guys who stayed at Duffy's after they should have left with the transportation to the hotel, lol.
