This week your Miami Hurricanes take on the Ramblin' Wreck of Georgia Tech in another ACC match-up that could decide the conference title for 2011.
Miami is coming off a meaningful if not impressive win over North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The Hurricanes streaked out to an early lead against the Tar Heels and then managed to hold on to an important win in a ACC road game.
As you all know Tech makes their living on running Paul Johnson's antiquated yet effective triple option while Miami makes their living on running Jedd Fisch's pro-style offense.
To be honest we expect GT to run all over Miami's defense. There is nothing to indicate that Miami can stop any team's running game much less the GT dynamic and creative emphasis on the run game. The Jackets will almost certainly control the ball and the clock and score at least 30 points against the porous 2011 Hurricane defense.
Still we also expect Jacory Harris to execute Miami's pro-style offense efficiently and score more than the Yellow Jackets by posting more than 40 points. The emergence of UM WR's Streeter, Hurns and Dorsett to go along with Travis Benjamin have the 'Canes offense running on high octane gasoline.
That and the continued progression of running backs Lamar Miller and Mike James have the Hurricanes headed to success on the offensive side of the ball.
The only real question Miami Hurricanes fans have heading into every game is can the UM defense hold their part of the deal? This week we believe they can.
Here is Chris Whelpton's weekly segment on how the Canes will win or lose this game:
Canespace Prediction: UM 41, GT 31

Taylor slaying trial scheduled: A Jan. 30 trial date has been set in Miami for four men accused in the 2007 slaying of Washington Redskins star safety Sean Taylor. The date was set by Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Dennis Murphy at a brief hearing. The four men from the Fort Myers area are accused of fatally shooting Taylor during an attempted robbery at his home. All have pleaded not guilty and face potential life prison sentences if convicted.
Why does this take so long? 2007? Hard to believe...

Stupid Criminal of the week....
I had to testify in a trial yesterday regarding a guy who took alot of $ from my bank via ATM withdrawals..he placed a skimming device on the ATM machine and compromised a bunch of accounts..he shows up in court wearing the same shirt as he was wearing in 80% of the videos I got him on. When asked if I could ID the guy in court, I pointed at him and said yea, I recognize him & also his cloths. His attorney looked at him like he wanted to kill him! lol..the jury was laughing

Roach= 110% on!!! This country takes way too long to bring people to trial, then slaps a lot of them on the wrist. Kill a man...life in prison? How about some electric bleachers....you could fry 30 to 40 at a time, rid the system of responsibility and dead weight....and save money!!!

How about Les Miles suspending a guy who tested positive for synthetic pot for 1 game? If that was you or I....job gone huh? Fowler said synthetic pot was regular pot with leaves coated with chemicals...hmmmm.
As long as these schools and coaches tolerate such behavior guys will not change. I end his season; it is against the law.
Posted by: VA Cane | October 22, 2011 at 10:50 AM
I think we have to run and pass successfully today....try to keep them off the field. J12 has to lead again. He needs to command the huddle, make good decisions and be accurate like he has been. He will be our focal point today. The Line...Hey BW you are supposedly and AA....don't try to be ....just put some effort into your game, and the others will follow...you need to lead!!! LM6 will do fine...if somebody blocks.
Our kicking game and ST in general need to be very good, will need a couple big plays.
We know our defense is going to get gashed a lot, but at some point we have to make a few stops. Hold them to some FGs, try to get a TO or 2. All we can do is hope with this aspect of our game...lets face it our D is one of the poorest units to ever take the field at UM. My kids tackle, defend the pass and are in position better than this defense. I kid you not!!
No prediction here, just hope J12 and the O can run and pass.....STs come through.....and pray we make a play to stop them in the end in a wild wide open game. Could be very good if you are a football fan...hard to swallow if you like either of these teams as you never know who really cares about winning today.

I think most of the experts are going with GT to win, so we need to come with that undersdog us against the world attitude and upset the Jackets!!!
Posted by: VA Cane | October 22, 2011 at 12:35 PM
TJL, that wasn't Sarasota on trial wuz it? Wuz Ogv the getaway driver? Just jokin yall
Posted by: 4-Real | October 22, 2011 at 12:35 PM
Just because the "experts" pick GT doesn't make a UM win an upset. Contrarily, the real experts in Vegas have us favored. Therefore, the "experts" are picking an upset by going with GT.
Posted by: BEERicane | October 22, 2011 at 12:37 PM
The thing about the option is they expose their qb to a being abused. If we kill the head the body will die.. as long as we take away the inside ... middle guard dominance kills the option.
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 22, 2011 at 12:49 PM
We really need a guy over the center... like a d qb...lol
Posted by: mi@mic@ne | October 22, 2011 at 12:50 PM
I look at them being ranked, and UM not.....I hate Las Vegas and everything associated with it. They are supposedly losing a lot of money this year in football...love it. Never have been a fan of gambling...very bad vice....and it can get you killed. Screw LV!!
I just want to see us come out hungry, pissed off at the way we have played this year, realize we have let ourselves down with poor play and punch somebody in the mouth really hard. I do not know if it will happen, cause these kids seem to have some apathy about going 110% every play.
I think J12 will step up and lead us again, it is up to him to get the bull by the horns...and lead. Hopefully the D can stop them a few times.
Posted by: VA Cane | October 22, 2011 at 01:03 PM
The reason it takes so long to go to trial is because inmates play games. They'll act incompetent, fire their lawyers. Also, you have to find amjury that isn't biased due to it being a high profiled case. We have guys at Hillsborough that have been in jail for 5 years and they haven't been to trial yet

Nice bit of hyperbole there, Felipe. NO secondary is worse than OUR secondary.
Posted by: BEERicane | October 22, 2011 at 01:47 PM
Well said and yeah they aren't doing bad at all underneath. When deep and 1-1 they look silly, but not worse than ours!
Watkins, wow. Almost took it to the house on the kickoff
Posted by: Felipe | October 22, 2011 at 02:01 PM
man if Bryn Renner put that on the money, that'd be 180 yards and 3 TDs for Jehranie (LSU Killer) Boyd.

Sammy Watkins td...inevitable.
Posted by: Felipe | October 22, 2011 at 02:28 PM
Its harder for us to play the shot gun option than the triple option in my opinion...we know they are going to run the ball. I think we are successful on the d today...

KState = 7 and 0. Funny how these schools with bad recruits win and schools like FL, FSU, UCF, Miami "supposedly"op pared with top flight recruits with not so many wins!
Lots of kids were recruited by the U and went elsewhere by their own choice or by the way of the wallet. And remember how many we lost due to grades....I think many forget this fact!

Looks good at halftime. Beautiful day. Ok crowd for a Miami home game. Jacory scared me on a couple of throws. Jacory is at his best with quick reads. Late throws are always an adventure. Happy that he did not turn the ball over.
The Canes offense seemed a little flat. The defense is improving for sure, though. Glad to see Ray Ray and Perryman playing more and Futch playing less.
