Once we get out PF over 31 and our PA under 20 then we will be back.

SOUP

If VT wins the ACC title game would they move up the BCS standings enough so they could play LSU for the title?

2002nemo

No!

SOUP

WURD ON DA SKREETZ IZ...

1. I dont see any reason for Lamar coming back next year. To many goons here blastin me for saying that. The little things he needs work on can be perfected at the next level. If I was asked, which I wont be but I would tell him to head to NFLU.

2. Streets is hypin himself up like hes 1st round ready. Playah went from a humble ballah to ego trippin in about 2 weeks.

3. I fully expect Boom to check on his status. BWash, Vern, RayRay will test it also and maybe Ojomo because boi aint sure about him getting that RS.

4. Goons in this area tellin me Al has been very honest and straight forward when hittin up recruits and bois respecting that.

5. Damn bruh, 3 more teams offering my man D'Mauri Jones. Sh$# I hope Miami can hold on with freak.

My boy Al Golden will kill it these last couple weeks in recruiting i think we will have some surprises people ala jalen grimble from last year.

Hassan

Wow I knew Streets would be like that, he might as well go if he stops working, but he WILL NOT be a 1st rounder and will be eating humble pie.

Anthony Chickillo finished third in ACC Rookie of the Year voting behind winner Merrill Noel of Wake Forest and FSU's Timothy Jernigan.

Top three rookies are from the State of Fla. Good news for Chick. Well-deserved. Perryman also deserves respect. How did we miss out on Noel? UM could have used a good CB.

Hey "soup" - do you run this blog? I don't post here often but I read it all the time. Any chance you could stop forwarding that fake nonsense from "skreetz"? It's embarrassing to read, clearly just some j*ckoff trying to use absurd lingo that you couldn't even find on MySpace to make his thoughts seem more "legitimate".

I mean, "goons", "bruh", "boi"? Come on man, it really takes away from what is otherwise an excellent blog.

It's just kind of embarrassing to think that people could be reading this and assume that all UM fans were that pathetic and fake.

not sure why Marcus Forston wouldn't want to be back and have one great year of football at Miami and I can't believe streeter...wow.

For those of you asking that the bowl game against Notre Dame be removed because Shannon did not coach it, very well. Adjusted PF, PA averages:

Miami average points per season:

Year, Points For, Points Allowed

1996: 31-18
1997: 29-26
1998: 37-25
1999: 33-17
2000: 42-16
2001: 43-10
2002: 41-19
2003: 28-15
2004: 32-17
2005: 27-15
2006: 20-15
2007: 21-26
2008: 27-24
2009: 30-22
2010: 27-20
2011: 27-20

Or, more indicative perhaps is the regular season average:

Miami average points per season (excluding bowls):

Year, Points For, Points Allowed

1996: 31-17
1997: 29-26
1998: 37-25
1999: 34-17
2000: 43-15
2001: 43-9
2002: 42-18
2003: 29-15
2004: 32-18
2005: 29-12
2006: 20-15
2007: 21-26
2008: 28-24
2009: 32-22
2010: 27-20
2011: 27-20

Like a previous poster said, the Canes should be fine once we get the PA average down below 20. Amazing how it shot up after the DC became head coach.

I'm going to take U as serious and NOT a troll (for now) so I'll reply in kind:

Sorry U don't like or appreciate Da Skreetz. Just skip past it if U don't like it but I will tell U it as REAL as real gets.

I could translate it into the Queen's English for U if it would make U feel better but then it would lose all of it's flavor and authenticity so let's just leave it as is, OK?

Now why don't U try a real post that contributes something TO the blog instead of just coming on to complain and to try to take something AWAY from the blog?

Randy Edsall sounds exactly like a low yield Tom Coughlin. Would never ever want to play for him or have him as my coach. (Google all of the articles calling for his firing after one year. Pretty intense anger at the control freak)

raizecane

For those of you who were wanting Randy Edsall over Al Golden.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHA and shame on you.

Soup - how many drinks did you have when you asked if VT won the ACC, they could possibly play for the NC?? Rumor has it that LSU can lose to Georgia and still play in the NCG along with Bama who is not even in the conference championship game. I think only Okie State has an outside shot...

Felipe

Sam Acho is scorching it in 'Zona, 2 sacks, 2 ffs last week. Don't remember this guy doing anything in college after being heavily recruitied.

What is it with 4* dudes looking clearly limited in college after being HS impact players, who then graduate to a higher level of football and raise their game to become as impactful as was expected at the college level?

Don't look now but another 0-star (ESPN) unrated wideout looks to be headed to rookie of the year consideration if he can get healthy and put up decent numbers down the stretch. Denarius Moore, Oakland. Or as ESPN recruiting had it, Darnius Moore. Didn't even spell his name right.

Felipe

Star system fetishists are going to be shaking their heads if/when four of our ten 4-star dudes can't or don't enroll. Both AJLs (AJ Leggett, A-J-L), Hamilton, and Northrup. Fortunately there are still many opportunities for late flips due to a year-long recruiting campaign mounted by the staff. Wouldn't be shocked if Golden takes the time to suss out some PA-NJ area guys now that the season's over.

What is appealing to so many of these recruits re: FSU? Is it the fact their their academic progress rating is so low that if the reformed standards were enforced by the NCAA today, they wouldn't even qualify to make it to a BCS game, the only team in a BCS conference that this would happen to (LSU and Auburn borderline if I recall)?
Must be all that losing to teams they should beat that has recruits licking their chops.

For the last few years FSu has beat Us on game day and also on national signing day. Have you noticed the trend?
This year, despite oUr best effort, FSu beat Us (again) on game day; and despite oUr best effort, it looks like FSu will beat Us (again) on national signing day.

If U don't beat FSu on national signing days, U won't beat FSu on game days. If, however, U don't beat FSu on game days, U won't beat FSu on national signing days.
Therefore U must find a way to beat FSu on game day (to boost oUr in-state recruiting) or U must find a way to beat FSu on signing day (to give Us an edge on game day).

Success breeds success!

Six-I hear the Rays signed Jose Molina. Its about time they did something to upgrade the catching position

That is a huge pickup for the Rays and at a very nice price

I see they dumped Jaso to the Mariners

To another sport. It sucks that the mens b-ball team has lost its last 2 games. They really needed them if the `Canes want to see the NCAA tournament

Now they have to face a 5-2 UMass team, a good Memphis team even though they have started slow then hit the road to face West Virginia

The `Canes better pick it up for this 3 game stretch

herbieibis

Golden is handing out those Verbal Invites. We are at 27 and I know some will be early entrants, so there will be 5 or 6 told to take a hike, so I'm guessing 33 to 35, newbies. Hello depth, good-bye loafers & non-hackers, & hello 7-5 or 8-4, next year. I can dig it. New blood, with some good stable coaching, things can only go up as long as the NCAA don't lower the boom on us and if they do, then we will take a couple steps back & then come back with a vengence!

UMike

The kids that dont make it because of grades and go to prep school..do their scholarships count for this year or when they sign?

Ohio_Cane

UMike, I believe only once they sign and play here.

UMike

So if Golden and staff know the likes of the AJ's might not get in right now..I wonder if he sees that as 2 open scholarships

I might be wrong but,
There are 2 limits for the scollies...
85 is the maximum holding at any one time.
25 is the limit per recruiting season.

So between-season recruiting don't count to the recruiting season max. So there is no reason for carrying over, as kids graduate (leave) every year.

From NCAA.org http://www.ncaa.org/wps/wcm/connect/public/NCAA/Issues/Recruiting/Football+Recruiting

Football recruiting

Division I Football Bowl Subdivision teams are allowed 85 student-athletes on full scholarships and Football Championship Subdivision teams are allowed 63 scholarship equivalencies, which means the numbers of prospective football student-athletes being recruited annually far exceeds any other sport. The competition for talent can be intense.

Recruiting rules can be complicated. Rules closely govern factors such as when (and how many) official visits can occur, which personnel can recruit off-campus, and how (and when) coaches may communicate with potential recruits.

Division I recently addressed a concern involving the practice of oversigning. Programs were signing many more than the 25 prospective student-athletes they are allowed to carry on scholarships for the entering class. The oversigning was done in anticipation that some of the recruits would not qualify academically or would drop out for another other reason. Because the rules limit the number of student-athletes on scholarship, current or prospective student-athletes could find their scholarships were no longer available.

In January, the Division I Legislative Council approved legislation for Football Bowl Subdivision programs to specify an annual limit of 28 on the number of prospective student-athletes who may sign a National Letter of Intent or an institutional offer of financial aid from the initial signing date of the regular signing period of the National Letter of Intent through May 31. The legislation encourages institutional personnel to discuss academic and admission qualifications of each prospective student-athlete (rather than simply athletics ability) before sending the prospective student-athlete a National Letter of Intent or a written offer of financial aid. The legislation also reduces the number of signed prospective student-athletes signed who are unlikely to meet NCAA academic-eligibility requirements.

I beg to differ. He'd be on the next three connection plane route if Miami bought him out and paid his asking price and UM would win at least 9 games a year even in rebuilding years if he got a decent DC.
