Already projected by many of the national recruiting services to have one of the best recruiting classes in the Country, the Miami Hurricanes football program will celebrate this achievement by hosting a National Signing Day party on Wednesday, February 1, from 6-8 p.m.
The event will be held at the lovely BankUnited Center on the stunningly beautiful campus of the University of Miami in Coral Gables.
The event is free to Hurricane Club members and admission is $1 for non-members. There will also be several UM fan activities and food and beverages available for purchase throughout the event beginning at 6 PM.
Three years ago Canespace had the opportunity to attend a similar event on the UM campus at the Hecht Athletic Center and we can tell you that these events are an excellent opportunity for Hurricane fans to meet, greet and get up close and personal with the new recruits.
There were several current players and new recruits that were made available for photos and autographs and we expect more of the same at this year's event.
The 2012 Class will be introduced by Coach Golden and his staff, complete with a highlight reel of the newest Hurricanes from 6:30-7:30 PM. At 7:30 p.m. Coach Golden will join the Voice of the Hurricanes, Joe Zagacki, live on WQAM to talk about the class.
Any fan attending the National Signing Day party is eligible to purchase a ticket to the Canes Men's Basketball game vs. Maryland for only $5.
Tip-off for the Atlantic Coast Conference game is slated for 8 p.m. at the BankUnited Center.
For up-to-the-minute news and updates throughout Signing Day www.hurricanesports.com is the place to be for all Miami Hurricane fans.
The site will provide interactive live coverage from the first signed National Letter of Intent through the fax machine to the last one with live interviews and commentary from Golden, his coaching staff, and Don Bailey Jr.
We look forward to seeing U all there and GO CANES!

Apparently Poole's still solid to UF, but he has the LOI to ND as well. Powell, nobody knows for sure.
Yeah I dunno, I think Muschamp is the inverse Zook in terms of having an amiable personality. My guess, based on the sideline antics only. [/pure bs speculation disclaimer]

I don't see how McCord is catching the "wavering" or "soft verbal" tag. Wasn't he texting uncommitted recruits of UM when he was on his USC visit trying to get them to commit.

IDK it makes no sense to me. He supposedly said that Howard and Young are 'Cane locks.
Its official... I am no longer able to concentrate on work!

How is a school like Florida (Ya, I hate em too, but they're very well known and in the $EC) losing all these top recruits? I'm hearing they're gonna miss on Angholor, Hamilton, Howard, and now Poole and Powell?
Wow.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 31, 2012 at 12:09 PM
Just the fact that this is being mentioned should be enough for Howard to not choose trailorville.

I heard Skreetz earlier singing this
I am not sure is this a sign that Howard comes?
Tell Uncle Luke I'm out in Miami too
Clubbing hard, f---ing women, ain't much to do
Wrist blancpain, got a condo up in Biscayne
Still getting brain from a thang, ain't sh-t changed
How you feel how you feel how you feel?
Twenty five sittin on 25 mil
I'm in the building and I'm feeling myself
Now she want a photo
You already know though
You only live once, that's the motto, ni--a Yolo
We bout it every day, every day, every day
Like we sitting on the bench, ni--a we don't really play

Well, let's start with the facts, he's a Georgia Bulldog alum who's coaching at his rival school, then there's the fact he spent time living in Gaineshell as a kid and sold them out because Spurrier didn't drop everything to try and convince him to walk on and instead left him waiting in the plush office for longer than he wanted to.
Now, add in the only marginally disputable details that he was basically a slow, white, midget doofus as a player at UGA who got beat the F' down with regularity and then oversaw the worst season at Texas in twenty years as an assistant coach, cue the, "it wasn't the defenses fault," from the few supporters he has left right now like the defense can still do its job when it gives up more points than the offense scores, and you could basically make the case that the Zook hire was a better misstep than what the Turds are getting ready to endure. Does the Swamp still rock when the home team is getting booed off the field I wonder?
Posted by: orange 'n green in the vein | January 31, 2012 at 01:07 PM
Wow. You all are expecting some madness. A little madness isn't bad for anyone, however. Keeps things interesting.
I bought myself a shirt and jersey last night. It's been a few years since I picked up any Canes gear. I thought it best to show my colors and annoy the locals up here.
I expect at least one of those big names to sign with Miami. Golden's too talented a closer (2011- Chickillo, Perryman, Crawford, 2012- Waters, Hamilton) not to get at least one.
Perhaps someone not even mentioned...
...a big name WR, perhaps? That would shock me most of all.

The fact that Corey Long told UMike that he's basically just guessing goes back to what I was saying about him not really knowing more than the chain-gang crew with the 1st Down marker on the football field of these high school games
They have the ability to hear just as much or talk to the kids just as much as Corey Long does - thing is, a lot of them don't even care b/c they're either local Shriner/Elk Club/Rotary Club guys that are doing it for fun or sometimes guys who are also high school refs that just circulate all over the place
Long just happens to have the mothership in Bristol tag & his own little recruiting column next to his name
Still laughing at him saying that McCord wasn't going to Miami, tweeting it and then having it re-tweeted by everyone that follows him .. including some local Prep Sports jabronis here who pass off opinions/guesses as fact
To tell you the truth, the invention of Twitter/Facebook/MySpace/etc. has actually helped add to the monster known as irresponsible journalism
It's like a rumor started in a hair salon somewhere that then goes into the neighborhoods of desperate housewives .... times 1 Billion

http://businessofcollegesports.com/2012/01/23/conference-recruiting-expense-series-top-50-spenders/
I know this is for total sports but for the sake of argument each of our 33 recruits cost us $17,935.00
That is the Buget here at the U #47 in the nation in terms of spending. We are blessed to be able to drive to hundreds of D1 recruits and spend little money.
Tennessee on the other hand is spending $93,938.00 on avg for their 20 recruits.
It is easy to see the $EC has money to burn, but we would al be foolish to see that the public money disparity is not similair to the "black budget" disparity.
500k a year to chunk 100k each to your top 5 recruits or so sounds like the going rate these days. I do not think all recruits take money but out of the top recruits I would say 25% or 5 out of 20 sounds like a conservative estimate.
Jacory info
#10 Jacory Harris (6'3/195, Miami)
Current Draft Projection: Undrafted Free Agent (UFA)
Notes: Harris will be looking to force himself up the big board with a strong showing. He needs to come in bigger than his current listed 195 pounds and prove that he can be more consistent than his 48 career college interceptions might suggest

Less than 24 hrs and all our unknowns will be knowns. We will toss & turn in bed tonight, because the excitement of signing day is upon us. Who will we get, that is left is the 64,ooo dollar question. As I've said before this is like watching the last 10 laps a Daytona. First one guy is in front, then another but until they speak all we can do is speculate.
As I've stated before I like this class but if we haul in a couple, like Hamilton & Howard, I'm going to be loving it. I'm tired of these dudes coming down to visit the weekend before signing day and then giving us the thumbs down on signing day. The worm has got to turn for us tomorrow.
Golden has loaded up with some talent & prospects at WR & DB. He also loaded up with Prospects at QB. I'm not so sold on the talent aspect yet, with this group.
If and when we lose Northrup, the LB position will really need to be hit hard next year. At one time we had 5 verballed and may be down to 2, with Northrup bolting.
I like the talent & prospects we have on the DL but we still don't have that it factor at DT. The OL looks pretty good with the 3 guys we have coming in. I look for at least half these guys to be r-shirted, especially the prospects (NR) guys. Golden is the man, he's a hustler and when we start getting results on the field look the hell out! This man could be visiting a living room near you, in the future. Great move by Mario by sticking with FIU and thus giving us a real chance with Hamilton.

Yea..at this point, I have no clue on the spots left lol..thought we had 2 left, then Crawford took one..idk if those 2 sports were including Hope or not, and imo Northrup will open a spot, I just wonder why Blue is waiting on an offer, Golden must be waiting to hear from someone
Posted by: UMike | January 31, 2012 at 03:16 PM
Ok so lets say we got 3 left then that means its a done deal and ill be the first to report on Triple H comitting tomorrow
Harvey-clemons
Howard
Hamilton
Posted by: UpNorthCane | January 31, 2012 at 03:18 PM
32 commits, if we have 10 ee's, we will have 3 spots..although I thought we have 9 including hope
Posted by: UMike | January 31, 2012 at 03:18 PM
Goldman: FSU or Bama
Clemmons: UGA (home boy)
Hamilton: Rutgers or "DA U" gut says he stays home)
Williams: since he didn't visit, Flo or USC
Northrup": FSU, If not he'll stay with us.
Blue: only if Northrup bolts, otherwise Va. Tech.
Howard: a month ago I'd say Flo. or FSU but now I say we scoop him.
Hope I'm wrong on a couple of those guys but with that said we still will have a couple ships left, if we only get Howard. Who does that leave us? Well one might be that 6'9 OL Sonny something or another or Dequan Ivory, he's a little on the short side but if we go to a 3-4 de, he'd fit perfectly. We are probably a year away from switching over full time or at least until we get a few more LB's.

Gadbios
Flowers
Kirby
Dewey

Going by Rivals list of commits, if NO ONE decommits, including Northrup, we have 2 scholarships left.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 31, 2012 at 03:26 PM
I believe there are 34 spots in total with Hope EEing. Not sure how many are left but I gotta say I love Al Golden. The man works hard and has brought in what I believe will be a foundation laying class of great things to come. I think we are going to see 3 maybe 4 gems in this class that are 3 stars turning into 5 stars. Off the top of my head, Jacoby Briscoe, Antonio Crawford, Gabriel Terry
