Tomorrow is the day that all college football fans have waited for: National Signing Day. The annual event that for some fans is a make or break season for the actual season to follow.
Duke Johnson and his talented friends will bring their skills and expectations to the University of Miami in an attempt to return "The U" to glory.
OK, OK...I know you just want the news and the facts and no poetry and rhyme so that is what we will bring you on National Signing Day 2012.
We have our Canespace plans coordinated and all our assignments laid out:
OhioCane will cover the official UM web site for the latest signings, interviews and videos.
UMike will cover Twitter for breaking news around college football.
Hassan will cover the Internet pay sites at ITU and Canestime.
86Cane will eliminate the trolls and spammers and also cover the media sites of the Miami Herald, the Sun-Sentinel and The Palm Beach Post.
And trust me Hurricane fans on Canespace U will NOT miss a thing on NSD!
I will leave the Canespace Central Command around 11 AM and head South from Central Florida at a high rate of speed to post comments and photos LIVE from the UM campus at 6 PM when I will be at the official Hurricane Signing Day Party at the BankUnited Center.
Then we will walk up the steps to see UM play the Maryland Terrapins in an ACC basketball contest. We suggest that you take the opportunity to join Hurricane hoopster Shane Larkin and me there if U can?
It will definitely be an orange and green day all around.
We certainly hope U enjoy it!

Duke making the dumb hat game a parodied cliche in one fell swoop for the rest of existence with that 3 UM hat monte gimmick will be the greatest thing to happen to recruiting since the invention of file sharing over the internet on streaming sites. I don't know about how he'll translate to the next level but his sense of the dramatic reminds me of a young Clinton Portis already!

OhioCane will cover the official UM web site for the latest signings, interviews and videos.
UMike will cover Twitter for breaking news around college football.
--------------------------------------------
SOUP, I'll be on twitter as well on one tab on my PC, as well as being on ESPNU all day right next to the PC.
Just in case UMike has anything to do (school, work, etc) at any point. I do twitter, Canespace, and any other website all on different tabs while working, so multi-tasking isn't anything new.

Will Muschamp lay in bed, his mind racing. Despite the Longhorn Bevo nightlight that he had plugged in, he was still afraid. Sleep would not come as National Signing Day lay across the next sunrise.
He clutched his Gator blanket tighter as the familiar fear gripped his heart. The same fear that sprang forth with each recurring nightmare. Recruit after recruit, both now and in the future refusing to wear the blue and orange Florida colors, to don the ceremonial jorts, to scoff at doing the ceremonial Gator chomp. He realized that National Signing Day was to become the signature to the death of his own program as an SEC powerhouse. Sweat beaded on his forehead as he thought of the sleeping giant awakening, and what that would mean for all of college football.
And while the nightmares had not yet been fully realized, he knew that their conversion to reality were inevitable. And the haunting image that tormented his dreams, yes indeed the dreams of so many college football programs, that image remained burned into his mind.
The orange tie.

Off topic for NSD but I have been searching for a while now for a game used/issued 'Canes basketball jersey to no avail. Anyone on this blog have a good contact in the UM Athletic Dept that might be able to point me in the right direction.
I have been on UM's Athletic web page and emailed numerous times with no response.
Any help would be appreciated...
And to a great NSD! Bring us some top talent Golden one...

Tyriq McCord just announced he's sticking with Canes.
Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 31, 2012 at 06:25 PM
He had to announce that?
Posted by: Six | January 31, 2012 at 11:53 PM
On another note - Nelson Agholor to USC
unless he was lying to my face ...... he would only talk off-camera after his basketball game
Posted by: Six | January 31, 2012 at 11:54 PM
Six, trolls generated a few stories about McCord switching. Didn't sound plausible, but I guess he felt the need to get it out there- or he just wanted to get on tv. :) Don't blame if it's the latter, he earned this night.

j.w. - gotcha
Still, we've got some connections on here to some kids that people who read Canespace shouldn't worry about. Chick was one of them last year, Tyriq is one of them this year
I had a guy I know that I had to put in "texting timeout" (yep, that's an official punishment I dish out to some people with one of my numbers) b/c he was blowing up my phone with "I heard that the Miami sanctions are coming down now and it's going to be really bad, just like Mark May said" a couple of weeks ago
I asked him where he heard that. What's his source. Where did they hear it. What's their credibility level. When is the NCAA and University of Miami going to announce it or make a press release
He had no answer. He just kept saying that he read it on a message board that he subscribes to (big mistake), tried to copy/paste the post on his phone to mine. I then asked him the vital questions again .. source .. where did the source hear it .. credibility level of the source .. time/date NCAA & Miami are going to announce it .. press release time
Again, no answer, just kept with the chicken little sky is falling on the Canes texts. He then said the guy reporting it on the site is usually 90% correct about things. Again, 90% how many times? 90% out of 1,500 times or 90% out of 4 times - big difference
He then texted to me, 8 out of 10 times. Obviously I had to make a crack about his math skills ... since when did 8 out of 10 = 90%? Again, with the vital questions .. .. source .. where did the source hear it .. credibility level of the source .. time/date NCAA & Miami are going to announce it .. press release time
I told him, until he can tell me all those things, then stop texting me and go worry about all that crap somewhere else
15 mins later, he texted that it was a FSU fan that was on the paid message board, trying to get everyone else all crazy
Obviously it worked. Obviously it's sad that grown ass men fell for it without stopping, taking a step back, asking themselves the vitals and then deducing from that
Not a lot of Walter Cronkites out there, but there sure are a lot of lemmings that follow the leader off the cliff
