Day three of the #CanesCamp featured the Miami Hurricanes football team in shoulder pads for the first time. Sunday’s spirited practice featured a welcome sound on the Greentree Practice Fields: the sound of pads popping.
Second-year head coach Al Golden said Sunday that he and the coaching staff would find out a lot about the younger guys in their first day in shoulder pads.
“We’ll find out a lot (about the young guys),” Golden said. “Hopefully, there will be guys that have grown (since the spring) because we are still relatively young. So we’ll learn about them.
“More importantly, we’ll see whether the young guys bite or not,” Golden said. “It’s one thing to bark, but we’ll see if the young guys go ahead and bite today.”
Sunday’s practice was fast-paced, moving from drill to drill and feature a large portion of live action and tremendous amount of all-around effort. Throughout practice, the coaching staff was emphasizing the intricate details of each play.
Both the offense and defense had some solid efforts today, as the offensive and defensive lines were going after each other. Senior DB Brandon McGee made a good pass break-up in 11-on-11, while sophomore DL Olsen Pierre knocked down two passes at the line of scrimmage.
A pair of offensive plays stood out from Sunday’s practice. First, redshirt senior WR Kendal Thompkins had a nice grab in traffic along the sidelines. Then, junior QB Stephen Morris connected with sophomore WR Phillip Dorsett, who had an impressive diving catch for a 20-yard gain before falling out of bounds.
#CanesCamp continues Monday with Miami’s fourth practice, which is slated for 8:20 a.m.

HawaiiCane has gone BLUE!
I was at a wedding and speaking with my aunt, who just so happens to be the academic advisor at pretty highly acclaimed academic institution in SEC country, and she spent most of the evening complaining about how even the entrance standards at her highly estemed institute are so far removed from 5 years ago. It makes her job nearly impossible. Most of her new students can not read and the school does not care because of the money involved... shocker! But, it was crazy to hear it from someone who is on the inside and how open they are about the acknowledgement of it.

About to recharge the battery while I browse the same old Netflix selections. What is the word in camp? Positives? Hopefully when I come on the Space tomorrow someone will be bragging about how far Morris has come and what a gunslinger Williams is.

Looks like everybody's gone blue. The troll ratio should dip tremendously.
I'm glad the freshmen look good. We'll need them STAT.
I've also heard something about Morris I haven't previously heard. He has excellent pocket command. Big thumbs up...
...I hadn't a clue.

Going blue will not eliminate the troll threat completely but it will make them MUCH easier to spot and eliminate.
Everyone has until 9/1/12 to "GO BLUE"!

I am bring told by our insider that Morris has really come far this off-season and that Williams is a total gunslinger.
That is all.
