Nice Nemo....

pbcfrcane13

from last post

Its funny last year on this blog everybody was saying.....man if we just had a few plays bounce out way we could have had a better season so close.

This year our players our making plays late and yes getting lucky so this year we are complaining that we are getting lucky and that were close to being terrible.....sooooo which one is it guys lol man fans never happy.....all I know is were 4-1 with some luck yes but who cares!!!! 4-1 headed to play #9 ND.....LET GO PULL THE UPSET!!!!!

raizecane

So according to AG....our motto for this season is "Survive and Advance".

raizecane

So I now have both the GT and the NC State game DVR'd and I can tell you this...watching it is soooo much less stressful on the heart knowing the outcome.

If you have the slightest heart condition or high blood pressure, you may not want to watch another Canes game this season.

raizecane

Here is a good poll question.....

"Who would you rather beat this season, Notre Dame or Florida State and why???"

86Cane

FLORIDA STATE WITHOUT A DOUBT!

They are an ACC team and an in-State rival.

The ND game matters NOT.

86Cane

My thoughts on the question about who is to blame for the Morris throws vs TE drops:

1. Why does every question has to be answered with "it is ONE or the OTHER and/or "I have to be right and U have to be wrong?"

2. Most answers to most problems is not one thing or another but ALL of the the above. The fact of the matter is that by combining information from multiple sources often results in a clearer picture of the real issue and leads to better solutions.

3. In this case that is ABSOLUTELY the case and right answer. They are BOTH to blame. The throws are defnitely a problem and the catches are also an obvious issue and to solve the "problem" both issues need to be addressed to produce better results and outcomes.

That is all.

4-Real

I hope they kick the shat outta Notre Damn & Fsu, and they can!! To Sully, I know u tried to get Miss Feliciano's digits, cuz I know I would!

canezilla

JUST BEAT UNC, VT, UVA, DUKE. NEXT YEAR WE TAKE THE COUNTRY

Exactly. Add to that the qb situation, the best production from that position since 02 and fans still complain. Based on what we've been going thru the last decade I give morris' a A+++

Jiggafras

One thing i was thinking about today in regards to our attendance. Does anyone remember every publication including ESPN and SI etc predicting we were only gonna win 4 games? Yes it was real in the preseason. Most of us here were pushing back at that but their whole reason was we lost our entire offense practically and they know no one on our roster. We already do not have many die hard cane fans but alot of fickle fairweather type. So imagine most of them getting their news from these rags and seeing predictions of 3-9, 4-8 in the preseason...i think that has played a huge part in our poor attendance so far. Even Kirk Herbstreit tweeting about the fans should go watch the team yesterday....he was one of them also. Thats why i don't listen to these noobs. Now they are gonna predict us getting trottled by ND this week because they refuse to believe they were that wrong.

LaQuinton

Fsu before nd.. While I dislike everything about nd, beating fsu would be bitter sweet.. Their efficient qb and stable of skill position players..., "talented defense" and fanbase.. Man I would love to see them beaten to a pulp .if Miami were to win that game.. NC contenders to be knocked off their high horse rhemenegade isnt it ? Lol

Tsully76

4-Real negative on trying to get Ms. Feliciano digits, my lady was right there no need for that. Jiggafras, to all the local and national media that said we were going 3-9 enjoy those crow sandwiches. Those that had our Canes 4-8 unless our Canes don't win another game get ready to eat crow sandwiches.

LaQuinton

Jiggafras.. Yeah that is crazy. This season is something else ! For awhile Herbie was a um fan when things were going right and Shannon was the coach. He was saying j12 for Heisman and all that. As far as the attendance if its hot as it is in Florida I wouldn't be at the game. But if we win games fans will come.

They want (espn) Miami to get blown out... Confidence in this team has grown for me. Morris is a stud and isnt like j12 , the runningbacks, recievers and olineman are doing better than I expected.. Just we need more from Walford, dye and Cleaveland. Defense is another story

LaQuinton

Nd isnt something special... Though they do have a good qb and Te'o is all over the field.. Te's will need to be a factor this game. Go canes !

Willie Will in Missouri

Tsully,

She wuz all up on ya bru lol. I'm sure yo lady probably said somethin about it lol

Jiggafras

ND is just as important as FSU....because they are next. If we win all our Coastal division games we are in the title game even if we lose to FSU. I don't want to lose to those bitches in any case. But beating ND would propel us forward in the rest of the ACC season with UNC next up. I think we could put up a bunch of points on ND. Im sorry but those midwest team possess not the speed we do at the skill positions. NCST had one of the best secondaries until we shredded it yesterday. We should spread out ND and left them defend in space. Running I formation plays they may have the advantage. But Morris can launch that ball down field. We may also be able to force some TOs as their QBs are not that good.

Willie Will in Missouri

86,

I said that the pass tp walford was to hot and high but it hit his hands so that made it on both of em. Now the pass to Cleveland I didn't see anything wrong wit that pass, did you? If so what?

86Cane

Wllie...I already answered that question in GREAT detail. Not gonna do it twice.

Tsully76

Willie Will my lady was not happy at all. I definitely heard about it last night.

The Dude

FSU is the easy answer raizecanebecase the ACC games are so important. But I will say Notre Dame may mean more nationally/big picture because if we beat them we are ranked and are 5-1 going into playing North Carolina who we should probably beat and then be 6-1 going into FSU. If we were to lose close to FSU, we may still be ranked and be in good position for a 9/10 win season. You'd have to say that would help us recruiting wise. On the flip side if we were to lose to Notre Dame, nationally they will say we are not back. Then if we beat FSU they will say FSU is not back and it would probably hurt the ACC. Getting a win in either means a lot recruiting wise I think, but I will go with the Notre Dame game as it will put us backin the spotlight. But 86 is also right in the regard that it has no bearing on the ACC.

The Dude

Note to Jedd: keep throwing to the TEs down by the goal line, they are getting open, just fix the drops and we'll be fine.

Jiggafras

osted by: LaQuinton | September 30, 2012 at 02:09 PM

Yeah i actually think we can beat ND, if the defense gets any TOs like yesterday we absolutely can do it. Im glad its not at their campus even tho it practically is but if we spread out ND they will be exposed for speed. Look at GT, they run the same 3-4 alignment and we spread them out and max protected and it was bombs away. I could see a similar game plan for this game. Then when they back off we come back and gash them with the run. Their QBs are not that good so i could see us forcing a few mistakes. They are gonna put up yards on us tho because every team has. It will be funny to see the build up this game. Im not buying the ND hype just yet. Their offense is putrid and their defense even tho its better than ours have not faced very good offenses. I will try to scout them out more and check their stats and try watch some of their games

The Dude

Comments From Ivan Maisel of ESPN.

3. Two troubled programs that stumbled out of the gate this season are looking better. Penn State, which opened with two wrenching losses, has won three straight games after dominating at Illinois 35-7. Miami, humiliated (52-13) at Kansas State in Week 2, is 4-1 and the only 3-0 team in the ACC after defeating North Carolina State 44-37. Of the two, the Nittany Lions look for real. They have won two routs, one on the road. Miami, which has narrowly defeated teams with less talent, faces No. 10 Notre Dame next.

These people cant make up their mind. First we were supposed to be 4-8 now that is out the window, we have beaten teams with less talent...really? 2 weeks ago the predictions were 42-21 GT winning and NC State had the number 1 returning secondary in the country. Thats why the space is where its at. I believe we will sneak one by ND, what will be the comment then?

Willie Will in Missouri

Wllie...I already answered that question in GREAT detail. Not gonna do it twice.

If we are tied in the ACC the first tie breaker is head to head. If we beat every coastal opponent we are in the title game even with losing to FSU.

I would say ND...only because its going to be PrimeTime and if we beat them, all these commentators on ESPN such as Herbstreit, and Holtz will finally give us some credit, if ND beats us then they will say we aint ready for prime time and we are years away from being relevant...if we lose to FSU, we will see them again in the ACC title game and have our revenge....is that a fair argument?

solarcane

jigs,
you are correct, I realized that after I typed it.
To me you beat conference opponents over anyone else just the same.
And nobody loathes ND more than I do, ask any body that's been on here the last 6 or 7 years.

Amazing after only 9 short years we might have a shot at winning our division in the ACC

Hassan

Thanks to those that I met at the game. Thanks Tsully for letting me park. Tom and all.

FSU is way more important, in our short term and long term goals. As far as Notre Dame as long as we show out a good game the W or L is only a slight difference. But FSU recruits against us, they are a state school in our home sate and an ACC opponent and a HOME game, so many reasons why they are more important. Notre Dame does not recruit against us we do not hav much recruiting base in Chicago and the v or L is not going to propel us into the NCC game or ACC title game. A W might help us get a better bowl but we might take a ban anyways.

dj moonbat

FSU is a serious football team. Beating them would be a big-time upset for UM -- it's pretty close to being a pipe dream given UM's defensive shortcomings.

Notre Dame looks beatable. It's no gimme or anything, but it wouldn't stun me to beat them.

I just really don't like ND one bit. I hope UM can pull it together and smoke those guys.

Next Weekends ACC Coastal Games

V. Tech 3-2 1-0 @ N. Carolina 3-2 0-1
Virginia 2-3 0-1 @ Duke 4-1 0-1
G. Tech 2-3 1-2 @ #15 Clemson 4-1 1-1
Miami 4-1 3-0 @ #9 Notre Dame

Good news for this week is that Miami will get a boost in the ACC no matter the outcome of their game with the Irish. I am hoping UNC beats V. Tech. The Virginia/Duke game is a win for us either way. G. Tech is likely to get beat up by #15 Clemson.

I believe we will beat ND by putting up a ton of points on them. Their offense is not very good and our defense is the same so thats a wash. If we force TOs that gives us the edge. Scouting report below.

ND offense:
rush 54th, 140.25ypg
pass 85th, 211ypg
total 95th, 351.25ypg
scoring 76th, 25.75

ND defense
rush 29th 112.5ypg
pass 9th, 96.79ypg
total 15th 291.25ypg
scoring 3rd 9pts pg

ND numbers look great on D particularly their scoring defense. They are overrated. I will post their opponents in another post below

ND has not seen a potent offense has we possess and they have not seen the skill position we have even with facing Denard who is poor at throwing and
reading defenses. Their defense is overrated imo. We will be the best offense they have faced all season long statistically and talent wise. Remember we struggled against K State on the road but we have put up 600 yards in back to back games one on the road. If our defense can hold them to FGs we win this game

Oh no never that, im very statistical with my analogy of things. So when i criticise No'D i use the statistics we have put up under his scheme. At the same time i gave him credit for shutting down GT late and allowed us to comeback and also this week forcing 6 TOs were huge. Now the yardage given up is unacceptable but if we continue to force TOs it will matter little, particularly if we tighten up in the redzone and force FGs. See i don't get on a coaches back and refuse to give him credit just to maintain my point that i was right. I still dont like his scheme but eventually its about doing things to win the game and i also take into account that we are a young defense even if i hate when a coach points that out lol

http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/Chicago+IL+60604:4:US

The forecast will be in the 40's come game time this Saturday. That is not bone chilling like the 20's but that is still colder then most of our 67 Floridians on this team have played in. A guy like Morris and his cannon hitting you on the finger tips in that cold could result in drops. I do not think the temp is quit cold enough in the 40's to have a huge effect but watch the forecast if it dips into the 30's I think it could have an effect on the game plan and the adjustments. Maybe Morris would throw with a glove etc.

86Cane

Easy there boyz, U never know who is reading the blog? LOL

BTW...If Kehoe gets into a fight with Fisch this week in practice do NOT be surprised.

I'm jus sayin.

Hassan

This might only interest me but we rolled up the 3rd most yards in UM history which is cool but here is the insane thing. We punted the ball 8 times, that is insane chew on that 651 yards but you punted 8 times. Wow, Of course our offense is explosive and our drives are short, but that means our conditioning is outstanding because we are playing at a OU/Oregon pace in the SLFA heat and with 8 punts that does not count the 3 missed FG's or the dropped pass/INT in the endzone. Our offense has LOTS of room to improve!!

BigWindyCane1

Good defense always begin with stopping the run, and the Canes are not good at it. I hope the coaches focus on that this week. It would help a lot to have Perryman back, and some DTs that have some attitude. Unfortunately, I dont think teh Canes best DTs are Pierre and Smith.

Jiggafras

Fisch was way to quick to abandon the run game. That seems the way with most OCs these days. Running plays don't get the coaches alot of plaudits the crazy passing numbers do. I was so pissed when duke busted one and he went back and threw when Morris was struggling and it was incomplete

At game's end, NCSU gave up 2.7 yards per rushing attempt, and 11.6 yards per passing attempt. Perhaps NCSU saw other teams getting ran all over by Duke Johnson, and was especially keen to stop the run. Perhaps they simply can't stop a deep ball to save their lives. But whatever the reason for the disparity between NCSU's ability to stop the run vs. the pass, the disparity was enormous. Fisch would have been foolish not to make them pay dearly for that disparity by passing on them mercilessly until they could respond.

CaneRock

Damn Tsully stomach look happy in that picture.

Hassan

I think the running game is just like the passing game, you need a rhythm, for playing calling, a rhythm for blocking and a rhythm for running it, and we was obviously in a groove for passing but the running game was spotty so we went with what works, good job overall Fisch he won the game for us. We did not completely abandon the run BTW.

4-Real

Thick as cold grits!! Leave it up 2 Coke!! Lol

Jiggafras

During the week i said we would win the game on Morris' shoulder, i was suprised at thew number of deep passes we were able to complete because they play alot of 3 deep zone. At the same time, when we get a big lead its essential to force your running gam eon the opponent and kill their will while salting away the clock. I know we struggled running the ball but even the pick Morris threw, the TE was open but we should have just lineup Henderson and Bunch on the same side and power that shit in and the QB draw from the shotgun that was also their and the one time we call it Morris bust it for like 17 yards. Teams are gonna start trying to stop Morris on the running game will have to be effective, we are averaging around 140, we need to get that closer to 180-200. Morris is at 330 passing per game i think that will come back closer to 270-300 as the schedule get tougher. If that remains we most likely will be trailing alot

Zakkee

http://notredame.rivals.com/cdepthtext.asp

D-Line is massive, active and good.
LB's are dynamite, big, and experienced
#5 Manti Te'o is a problem--stay away--he reads eyes of QBs and his legs follow well.
#7 Tuitt is a problem
#9 Louis Nix (decommitted from UM and chose ND--he'll be pumped)
secondary is suspect, young and the only glaring weakness on the team--their Safety Zeke Motta is good but loves to cheat up and support the run.

#20 Cierre Woods is an issue--if we allow him to reach the 3rd level (like we consistently allowed Creacy this weekend) he won't be tackled by Highsmith or Rodgers--thats a promise. I fear him more than their starting RB.Their offense is all upperclassmen and mostly seniors on the O-Line--big & experienced.

We must run and stop the run. Their QB Golson can't pass too well, but can run. The other QB Rees is really accurate, but can't run well. Kelly likes the dual threat and thats why he starts Golson. Golson throws better than Rees runs.

We want them to pass and they want us to run.

A DT and a Safety must have outstanding games for us to win!

STOP the run Canes!

Even a very stupid defensive coordinator watching the film from this game will note that you can hold Miami's run game under 100 yards and still take a vicious curb-stomping. NCSU made us "one-dimensional" and still gave up over 600 yards.

So I think it's pretty reasonable to assume that the defenses Miami faces over the next few weeks are going to be pretty balanced. Our backs are good enough to do well under those circumstances.

Also:

An offensive coordinator can INSIST on running a balanced attack every game he plays. Or he can ADAPT playcalling to whatever imbalanced approach he thinks will yield the most results. Over time, defensive coordinators will adjust, then he will adjust to them. Over time, game theory tells us, this will result in an equilibrium.

So far, Jedd Fisch has called some very, very different game plans from game to game. I don't see anybody bitching about "bubble screens" the way they were a couple weeks ago. And I don't hear anybody moaning about how Duke Johnson is our only offensive playmaker.

I think it's possible -- just possible -- that Fisch knows what he's doing.

OPEN LETTER TO COACH FISCH:

DEAR COACH,

Miami Hurricane fans appreciate your knowledge of the game and your offensive scheme. Wec also appreciate all of the time, effort and hard work that you put in getting the team prepared and "coached up".

However, let me make a couple of quick observations and a few suggestions regarding the UM offense and play-calling:

1. I realize that all good coaches make an effort to call plays that go against their tendencies to throw off the opposition's defenses. That is smart. However, there are certain times that are better than others to call plays against your tendencies.

2. Throwing the ball on first and goal from the two while leading by 16 early in the game during important ACC games in front of a home crowd is NOT the time.

3. The time to do that is when playing against Non-ACC teams like KSU, BCC and ND. Also try it on the road rather than at home in front of the home town fans who are so desperate for a win, and a dominant one IF they can get it, that they will come back again IF U give them what they want.

4. Don't get too cute and try not to "out-coach" yourself in simple situations. Just follow the KISS priciple: Keep It Simple Stupid! And try not to pizz Kehoe off too much by NOT running the ball when he AND the players REALLY want too.

5. Go with your strengths, stick to what works and go for the big plays, the tricky plays and the against tendency plays when it matters less or against an opponent that you are not expected to win against (see KSU and FSU).

THANKS FOR LISTENING!

RESPECFULLY,

THE FANS FROM CANESPACE
