Since I'm looking for a place to talk about Hurricanes' sports without all the language, name-calling and porn pics, it's good to see this.

UMike

Kiri.. Welcome to Canespace... Post here, post often

IraqiCane

Deon Bush!!!

Ohio_Cane

Kiri, I know where U came from then. Lol

Welcome!

CoCane

Well the porn pics ain't so bad. Lol

UpNorthCane

Im with Cocane a little bit of Lisa Ann decked out in hurricane gear never hurt nobody!!!!

So it looks like Rashad from ELy is a no go due to his grades. MAybe someone like Michael parker gets another look 86, what chu think?

TJL

Off Topic:

Does any old timer remember the NFL "playoff Bowl" or the 2nd place game? It pitted the losers from the divisional championship to come down to the Orange Bowl and play the week before the NFL championship. I went to one between the Cowboys & Rams. The reason I remember I was going through old stuff and found a chinstrap a Cowboy player threw into the stands after the game and I ended up with.

Vince Lombardi was quoted saying this about the game:

"a hinky-dink football game, held in a hinky-dink town, played by hinky-dink players. That's all second place is – hinky dink."

KiriJax

Not at work! Hate having to steer clear of sports sites when the avatars or signatures have to be censored! Anyway I've been reading the blogs the past few days and I've enjoyed it. I'm not even going to try to pretend I know about football as much as some of you guys do. But have always enjoyed following Cane sports. Have always followed the tennis team closely since that is my sport. It's minor I know but it is what it is! I also think I might be needing a support group when the NCAA hands out its sanctions.

UpNorthCane

Kiri no problem bro im sure theres alot of tennis followers on the blog also, myself included i miss the days i would eatch my boy pete sampras light it up..... Were all hurricane fans here my favorite sport is Soccer but im a diehard Canes football follower....

86 your doing something right on this blog my man!!!

canezilla

HERE IN BED WITH MY 11 MONTH OLD BOY. WIFE AT WORK REALLY QUITE!!!! LOVING LIFE!!GO CANES

UpNorthCane

You've won me over 86.... HIRE DUKES WR coach asap!!!!!!!!!!!

86Cane

UpNorth...I have scoured the Internet for three days looking for "that guy" and have found squat except for the Duke WR coach and the other guy with Penn State ties in Richy Anderson but that is it.

The way I see it is IF we can strengthen our coaching staff and weaken another ACC team at the same time then I am all for that.

UpNorthCane

I agree 86, the Duke guy should be that man Al golden hires!!

UpNorthCane

When do you think we will annoucne the hiring? maybe after the bowl season?

86Cane

UpNorth...YUP, the only thing I can think of for the delay in naming the new WR coach is that the coach's team is still playing in the Bowl games?

Old Skool

Click now. This guy is amazing: bicycle kick (football not soccer) field goals, corner kick field goals. He takes a football punts it then knocks it out of the air with another football kicked from the ground like he was shooting skeet.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDwbjHV8jLo

He just got a tryout with the NY Jets

Old Skool

Oh I didn't mention soccer style punts for field goals from 60 yards away.

WR Coach Candidate: Matt Lubick

By Mike Bakas

Date: Dec 28, 2012

George McDonald recently took the wide receiver job at Arkansas. That means Al Golden must find a replacement. CanesTime's Mike Bakas takes a look at possible replacements.

86 reporters are way late and they read Canespace to get inspired...

Montreal-Cane

Lubick or Weist??? who would you take?

Ohio_Cane

Bakas is a hack...

Montreal-Cane

The NHL and the Players close to a deal.

CaneTemps

Chris Yandle is sounding a little like a hack lately.

Using his twitter account (@ChrisYandle) to constantly cheer for Baylor or some Louisiana school also.

Maybe somebody can remind him who signs his check. It's ok to do it every once in a while, but when's the last time he tweeted something about UM, his current employer. You're either all in, or not in at all.

Montreal-Cane

Posted by: CaneTemps | December 28, 2012 at 02:42 PM

Chris Freet is much more professional and was much better than Yandle as Dir. of Com...

KiriJax

Cane basketball has the 11th toughest schedule in the country and their RPI ranking is at No. 20 after the egg they laid in Hawaii. I hate it when there is a long break between games after a crappy loss.

86Cane

You're either all in, or not in at all.

Posted by: CaneTemps | December 28, 2012 at 02:42 PM

Yeah his Twitter comments are starting to irritate me too. At first I thought him commenting about other teams/schools was no big deal but now it seems it is all he does?

86Cane

86 reporters are way late and they read Canespace to get inspired...

Sad, but true.

KiriJax

Small rant: Irks me sometimes when I see Miami (FL). You don't need a "(FL)". There is only one Miami. I can understand Miami (OH)or Miami-Ohio. But you shouldn't have to put (FL) after Miami. warrennolan.com has it right. Small rant over.

Unfortunately, they've said that about 9 times since October. I see no end in sight.

WWIM

Soup,

Bush is already a star IMO, but he'll be a legend when he leaves

TJL

Luis Nix Quote lol:

"I don't listen to the SEC hype," says Nix. "I could've been an SEC player. All those schools recruited me. I've got friends who play in the SEC. They tell me it's about like it is here, except they say they don't do much school stuff at all. I tell him, 'Man, this [expletive] at Notre Dame ain't no joke.'"

WWIM

TJ, LMAO

WWIM

So in a poll on which school will get Green's services come signing day;

Miami 56.9%
Michigan 24.1%
Auburn 12.7%
Tennessee 3.7%

Hope that's a good sign, although it's just a poll

The Dude

Seriously. Move Terry Richardson to WR. He needs to start adding to what he can do if he ever wants an OC job. Then hire Don Soldinger as RB. Start grooming Richardson as assistant OC. Why not?

TJL

Dude-makes too much sense!

roachcane77

I kinda like the sound of that idea The Dude... except, I would LOVE to have a premier WR coach come in too.

laquinton

so.. is miami looking at dukes wr coach ?

The Wizard

I just got a "WELCOME TO THE U" ! Who is it ? Player or WR coach ?

UMike

USC has 13 commits playing in the Army game..thats crazy lol...Wizard..working on finding out who the commit is..

UMike

State Of The U ‏@TheStateOfTheU

Sonny Odogwu, a 6'8" 308 LB offensive tackle rated 3 stars by Rivals, has committed to #Miami @SBNRecruiting

Tonycane

How about butch Davis as wr coach!

roachcane77

Sonny Odogwu, a 6'8" 308 LB offensive tackle.

Welcome aboard Sonny!

The Wizard

This is the kid that Kehoe has been raving about correct ?

WWIM

Damn coach golden is pulling some scholly's out his a$$. Lol

Did we punch in the code to get unlimited scholarships like fsu did????????

DeployedDiehardCane

So is it safe to assume that Sonny's committmet puts Denver Kirkland out of the picture?

The Dude

Richardson needs to build his resume. Soldinger is the best RB coach ever. It makes perfect sense. Richardson already knows the players. Fisch will bring him along. SOUP, back me up here! Make it happen, get in UM's ear!

LB

"So is it safe to assume that Sonny's committmet puts Denver Kirkland out of the picture?"

No. Henderson and Linder are both seniors.

Jack

Man I am already getting excited about next season!

Duuuuuuke!!!!!!

Go Canes!

Terrance Sullivan

Al G. Sure and the Canes staff is doing a solid job just finish strong with another recruiting class to add to the current roster and 2013 looks really promising. Isn't the Spring Game.

DeployedDiehardCane

"So is it safe to assume that Sonny's committmet puts Denver Kirkland out of the picture?"

No. Henderson and Linder are both seniors.

----------------------------------------
This makes Sonny, Gall, Knighton and possibly Kerr moving to OL though, figured with the limited schollies the spots would be scattered out more towards the D. That's why I was wondering about Denver.

CaneRock

Hmmmm, intuhwesting...vewee vewee intuhwesting LOL. AG must be starting to make some inroads up there in VA. My only problem with Green though, is I hope He's matured from some of the stuff that He's put on twitter, in the past at least.

Montreal-Cane

VT helmet the worst ever.

Montreal-Cane
The Dude

Btw, the second picture on the article is b@d@ss! Hooyah Navy!

86Cane

This VT vs Rutgers game is just AWFUL.

Montreal-Cane

Rutgers sucks.

86Cane

VT wins, saves ACC's azz for now.

Terrance Sullivan

Exactly 86 we now need GT, NC State, Clemson, and those suckas from Tally to get it done on Monday and Tuesday respectively.

KiriJax

I would enjoy watching Northern Illinois upset FSU. Hate seeing the Noles winning a BCS game.

On a sidenote, one of my best friends from college is a Navy jet pilot. Currently on a 6-month tour in the Persian Gulf. Hating being away from family during the holidays but doing his duty. Pray for the servicemen as they are away from their families.

The Dude

KiriJax,
I've been checking in on all my shipmates all over the world. United States is the badest on Earth because of these fine servicemen and servicewomen. Their families really have it rough this time of year. I got to see my bro-in-law (Marine) and my cousin (sailor) like I was over xmas while they were on leave. They are an inspiration to this country.

86Cane

Pray for the servicemen as they are away from their families.

There IT is right there.

86Cane

Including Ault resigning at Nevada we now have 28 FBS head coaching changes (ties modern day record).

Duke = Barry Sanders

No, not smoking weed

Thanks for those messages, feels good when people keep us, in the service, in mind.

86Cane

At the WR coaching position I am thinking:

Coaching experience
ACC experience
Recruiting skills
Academic institutions

I like the Duke coach best, but the GT and the VT coaches are interesting.

The Dude

Posted by: 86Cane | December 28, 2012 at 10:16 PM

Terry Richardson fits the bill.

raizecane

ola...been away for a bit....can I assume we lost our WR coach? if so, did he move on or get fired??

86Cane

Raize...he resigned and left for ARK.

86Cane

The problem with Twitter is that U cannot have a conversation. It is just thousands of random thoughts that have no continuity.

Alex Gall ‏@BigCountryGall

If im from Cincinnati, Ohio and see that Miami is doing something special how come kids from Florida can't see it?

This is it!!! The best recruits from Florida if you have the grades...Show some pride and go to the best University in the State Known as the "U".

KiriJax

Random Tennis Quiz: We all now that Miami leads both Florida/Florida State in our head-to-head in football but what about tennis? Take a guess. And you will be struck by lightning if you Google. I'll give you the total times they have faced; Florida 75 times and Florida State 80 times.

86Cane

I would say that UM holds a 65% winning adavantage over the Noles and Gatas?

The Dude

I don't have a problem with him not having the experience specifically at WR. He knows the players. He knows the staff. He knows the scheme. And he has been a good RB coach. It would be good for his development as a coach.

These are the type of players we need at the U, guys that believe in the system amd like Al says believe in the process, ie. Duke, Bush, Standish, Gall.

Soup

The first one looks like a good party dish. Get a few people in the kitchen cooking with a few beers and music

In return let me offer Zuppa di Pesce. A big seafood soup from Amalfi

As for the second recipe. Scotch bonnet peppers and dark beer reductions might be getting a little macho for me.

If you want macho, try Jamaican Mannish water. Daddeh can fill you in.

Rohan Marley probably downed a few bowls before planting tight ends on their backs.

Here's an overview

Tidbit from Canesport and Barry Jackson of the Herald regarding our new commit

Odogwu, 6-8 and 308 pounds, has a fascinating background. According to Canesport.com, he grew up in Africa, sharing a 12 by 12 room with 10 family members. He would sleep outside the front door on a wooden mat

Random Tennis Quiz Answer:
In Miami vs Florida State, the Hurricanes lead the Seminoles 47 wins to 14 losses.
It gets even better against Florida; the Hurricanes lead the Gators 58 wins to 16 losses!
It'll take a few decades for the Gators/Noles to catch up!
