Each year around this time we tend to lose certain bloggers who simply can't understand or agree to follow a few simple "rules of engagement" (ROE) when it comes to blogging.
Over the years we have lost many friends and bloggers due to "friendly fire" and the symptoms of the common off-season malaise. Recently, we lost another due to recent repeated incidents.
In an effort to prevent future blog issues and to provided a positive, safe, supportive, and family friendly environment in which to express our ideas and opinions we have established some ROE that govern behavior on the blog.
Here are the simple and concise Canespace ROE:
1. The blog is about University of Miami athletics. Stick to that as much as possible.
2. Attack ideas, not each other. Don't pick fights, we are all part of the 'Canes Family.
3. Spreading negative rumors and unconfirmed rumor mongering are not acceptable.
4. Do not feed the trolls. They will starve, be deleted soon enough and go away.
5. Do not repeatedly post the same thing every day, all day long. Post an opinion and move on.
And while this is not really a formal rule but more of a suggestion, once in a while if you must, especially during the offseason, try to have some fun, post something funny or off topic as long as it is appropriate, relevant and timely.
There, now I inquire: "Is that too much to ask?"

Off Topic:
Does any old timer remember the NFL "playoff Bowl" or the 2nd place game? It pitted the losers from the divisional championship to come down to the Orange Bowl and play the week before the NFL championship. I went to one between the Cowboys & Rams. The reason I remember I was going through old stuff and found a chinstrap a Cowboy player threw into the stands after the game and I ended up with.
Vince Lombardi was quoted saying this about the game:
"a hinky-dink football game, held in a hinky-dink town, played by hinky-dink players. That's all second place is – hinky dink."

Not at work! Hate having to steer clear of sports sites when the avatars or signatures have to be censored! Anyway I've been reading the blogs the past few days and I've enjoyed it. I'm not even going to try to pretend I know about football as much as some of you guys do. But have always enjoyed following Cane sports. Have always followed the tennis team closely since that is my sport. It's minor I know but it is what it is! I also think I might be needing a support group when the NCAA hands out its sanctions.

Posted by: UpNorthCane | December 28, 2012 at 12:13 PM
UpNorth...I have scoured the Internet for three days looking for "that guy" and have found squat except for the Duke WR coach and the other guy with Penn State ties in Richy Anderson but that is it.
The way I see it is IF we can strengthen our coaching staff and weaken another ACC team at the same time then I am all for that.

I agree 86, the Duke guy should be that man Al golden hires!!

Posted by: UpNorthCane | December 28, 2012 at 12:24 PM
UpNorth...YUP, the only thing I can think of for the delay in naming the new WR coach is that the coach's team is still playing in the Bowl games?

Seriously. Move Terry Richardson to WR. He needs to start adding to what he can do if he ever wants an OC job. Then hire Don Soldinger as RB. Start grooming Richardson as assistant OC. Why not?

This makes Sonny, Gall, Knighton and possibly Kerr moving to OL though, figured with the limited schollies the spots would be scattered out more towards the D. That's why I was wondering about Denver.

KiriJax,
I've been checking in on all my shipmates all over the world. United States is the badest on Earth because of these fine servicemen and servicewomen. Their families really have it rough this time of year. I got to see my bro-in-law (Marine) and my cousin (sailor) like I was over xmas while they were on leave.
