Top ten again, man, 86 is on a roll here! A new blog every few hours and its not even football season

raizecane

if you want to be first on a blog......don't blink, LOL. 86 is on a roll

LB

I'd like to get some defensive tackles lined up, or some news on how the current lot are faring.

UMike

With Moten to UF, thats one top DT off the board..good thing there are a few more.

Golden has praised Olsen Pierre to the shed and back. Said he's leaving the rest of them "in the dust".

I'm assuming he's not saying the rest are slacking considering he's praised them as well. Pierre prob starting DT this year, and our best one.

Just a guess by Golden's comments.

NCAA battles former players' lawsuit over revenues

Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/04/01/3317434/ncaa-battles-former-players-lawsuit.html#storylink=cpy

CaneRock

This is what the O'Bannon lawsuit is about:

Part IV: Promotion of NCAA Championships, Events, Activities or Programs.
You authorize the NCAA [or a third party acting on behalf of the NCAA (e.g., host institution, conference, local organizing committee)] to use your name or picture to generally promote NCAA championships or other NCAA events, activities or programs.

More PIMPIN'!:

What to do with this form: Sign and return it to your director of athletics or his or her designee before you first compete. This form is to be kept in the director of athletics’ office for six years.

CoCane

I thought Moten was supposed to be a cane? Well, it's April. He ain't signed with the turds yet. ;-)

CoCane

Dam we need to get Clark...

UMike

If in fact Morten to UF is true..and it seems to be..there is little chance he flips. St. Thomas players simply dont flip. Were going to need Clark (who i think is a close Cane lock) and Valantine

UMike

Anthony Moten ‏@anthony_moten95 1m
JUST COMMITTED TO THE UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA..#GOGATORS

IDK if that is his real account or not..but according to Pete Ariz, Corey Holmes also tweeted it, and told Ariz it was legit. of course Holmes has been wrong before and there doesnt seem to be any update on Rivals about it.

CoCane

It's true. Scout has it updated. He's a turd. LITERALLY

UMike

Valentine was at the Canes practice and family/team bar-b-que..thats at least a good sign.

UMike

Im starting to wonder if our bad D Scheme is making these recruits (mainly DT's) think twice about Miami.

CaneRock

Moten's no big loss to me, Clark is more of a TRUE DT to me.

UMike

CaneRock..I don't know much about Moten, and I think Clark has always been our top target..BUT..I dont like loosing a guy at a position of need to an instate rival from a feeder school lol

UMike

Hey..it could of been an Aprils Fools joke lol

True that, BUT!, I don't mind losing them to a school we DON'T play every year, with the exception of the Gators, who finally grew some balls and will play us this year LMAO!

I'm barely beginning to feel better after this flu bug, don't start needling with me about these schleps with their, "look what dad did at Temple," schtick.

Book sucked, and not in the, "Alexander and the terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day," type of way either.

LOL! Had to rib ya just a little bit!

LB

This could be a transition year from an above average program to a good program. It is primarily contingent on three areas of improvement:

1. Defensive penetration.
2. Tight end production.
3. Exorcising the dropped passes.

I think we've addressed #2. The others? No idea.

That's what she said.

myndraize

I'm sure Deon Bush can be an all american at safety, yet he has impressive press man skills and strong enough too handle bigger wr's would a switch to corner be so wrong at least on some formations, unless of course he re-fines his tackling techniq

herbieibis

Travonte Valentine backs out of his commitment to the Gators and Moten then commits to those bums. We've offered 6 and so far 3 are off the board. It's early, but we don't need just 1, we need at least 3 but I'll take 2. We lack a lot of quality as it is now and in reality, an injury or 2 to the wrong ones up front and it's sieve city again.

Ohio_Cane

. We've offered 6 and so far 3 are off the board.

No one is "off the board" until next February. Except KC McDermott, of course.

LB

"That's what she said."

Awesome!

Moreover, I think KC might be our Duke/Dobard. Recruits recruiting are excellent, and UM needs them all.

herbieibis

That's true Ohio but I haven't seen us recoup any DT's that went back out on the market. That part of the board us been boarded up for some time and for us to change defensively this has where its got to get better, in a New York minute.

Ohio_Cane

-----------------------------------------

Well, we've got at least 10 offers out to DT's across the country, be it high school or JUCO.

It's not that they're not trying, believe me.

UMike

DT's are not looking at Miami as a school that will get them to the next level..imo

thirstybuzzardcane

We do have depth at the DT position....don't think that it was that big of a need in the last recruiting class (1 or 2 would be ideal in 2014). We just have a bunch of young players at that position....There is no way Golden would move Briscoe to offensive line if he wasn't comfortable with the DT depth.

CaneRock

I don't know if this kid will play DT, but look out for Ufomba Kamalu now.
The kid's 6'6 280, and runs a 4.6 40, that's nothing to sneeze at.

Remember, Golden averages about 2 surprises per recruiting class, last year it was Jenkins and Waters. So don't be surprised if Kamalu joins CaneRock's 2013 All-Time LOF...Alex Figueroa.

Watch what I tell ya'll now.

Ohio_Cane

CR, I'm pretty sure Golden has said Kamalu will be a DT for us.

The Barrow blog I would have left up longer (I thought it was agood one) but I promised KC Jones vial email that I would promote his event and post it Tuesday so I was committed. I always keep my promises.

The Spring scrimmage and Spring game blog was a simple gimme and the ST#26 blog had to run on 4/1 (his birthday) and was a repost from years past so no biggie.

Jim Morris is destroying the Baseball Program

By Walter Villa

For the Miami Herald

If their recent play is any indication, the Miami Hurricanes’ baseball team is headed for trouble this weekend.

The Canes opened a five-game homestand by losing 5-3 to Bethune-Cookman on Wednesday. The Canes have now lost five of their past six games.

It was Miami’s first loss to the Wildcats since 2009, snapping a string of five consecutive wins. It also marked the second week in a row that Miami (20-12) has lost a mid-week game to a state school. Last week, Miami lost 6-1 to FAU.

We have to play better, UM coach Jim Morris said. We made three errors, and we didn’t hit when we had runners on base.

The Canes, last in the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Coastal Division with a 5-7 league record, will host No. 8 Florida State (25-4, 8-4) for a three-game series this weekend. FSU leads the ACC’s Atlantic Division.

Bethune-Cookman is 15-16 this season.

Beisebol been berry, berry good to me.

But not so much lately...

LB

Perspective on Auburn:

Please remember that this is only a preliminary report. The sporting world was ready to condemn, kill, and utterly destroy the UM football program based on a flawed report.

However, it is the $EC. It also comes from multiple sources.

Let's let it ride.

I'd believe pretty much anything about Muschamp, though.

The NCAA is dead in the court of public opinion. Their actions stink of moldy cheese. The smart thing to do would be to dismiss this before the Hobbit nails their grits in court.

Yet when has the NCAA done the smart thing? They even had to promote themselves in a positive manner during the NCAA tournament. What was the tagline? "We're there for student athletes (SEC)?"

I wasn't giving him a participation award like U get in sports at age 5. I was contradicting the belief that some have that he's not even looking or offering DT's.

Miami’s running backs coach Hurlie Brown has a relationship with Valentines step father prior to Miami’s recruitment of him.

“My step dad knows coach Hurlie Brown, they played together, they grew up together.”

He spoke with coach Brown earlier today, and he liked what they had to say.

“They just told me that we have a game plan for you, we need you, and you would start right away.”

The talented playmaker also plans to attend one of Al Golden’s camps this summer to get a better feel for how they would use him on their defense.

His top three as of now is Miami, Florida State and Tennessee.
