Once you're six season deep into SoA, you have to watch 7. But I was disappointed. It didn't have nearly the quality of final season that, say, Breaking Bad did.

I am curious, my fellow CANESPACERS. Who is this Admiral person and where did he come from? Since, everyone at the top supports Golden, why would they touch anymore who has guts and is an independent thinker? Love this, but have been too disappointed in the past to believe that any "real improvements" will be made.
Great BB game against Duke. That Angel CANE kind of reminds me of "sugar shake CANE" LARKIN.

LB

The instant retroactive protective policy changes are absolutely true. Manny Navarro got hoodwinked by Blake James, which led to the release of this:

https://www.facebook.com/theumovie/photos/a.143896998152.107113.86602348152/10152813462738153/?type=1

I have a question.

Has an administration ever taken such steps as these: the censorship of students, the retroactive policy changes, outright mistruths to the media...

... all to somehow protect and deflect from the image of a head coach of a another sport?

Can you imagine how hard it's going to be censoring the anti-Golden chants, signs, banners, t-shirts, and websites once the season starts?

I have a couple ideas why Golden is still employed.

1. The administration has taken to sheer spitefulness for the revelations of its own ineptitude.
2. Al Golden truly has something on the school or Shalala in particular, probably connected to another Shapiro-esque NCAA case, and has threatened to speak out if he is terminated.
3. #2, but connected to a lawsuit in connection with his contract.

Blake James is an incompetent lying puppet and the BOT/outgoing President/current coach of the 5-7 football team are all worthless at their respective responsibilities surrounding that sport.

Love that Miami's worst AD found a way to hire 1/4 of the shitiest eight currently employed coaches in college football in the nation. Oh and he can report what some Ponzi liar's ass tastes like to boot, so that's something that he can hi-light on his resume when he's fired in a year from his escape hatch landing spot he's currently bilking a paycheck out of.

It's just weird, though. These people seem to be SO incompetent it's impossible even to figure out what their motivations might be; their decisions at this points have just stopped making any sense.

Al isn't even doing a good imitation of a football coach who gives a damn anymore. I mean, blowing off any end-of-year press conference? And who allows the rumor to just hang out there, like a fart in a car, that some of the assistants will be fired once we've got the recruits all signed? That's not just incompetence; that's him ASKING you to fire him.

And yet the people with the authority to do so apparently bungled the contract negotiation SO badly that they simply can't bring themselves to do it. It's staggering. Neither of the parties wants this to go on, but somehow they're too incompetent to make it stop.

" But the 2016 and 2017 classes ... they will have the best facilities ever afforded Miami Hurricanes and have absolutely no ramifications of the NCAA case. Zero. So they see the world a lot differently than recruits and parents that lived through the 28-month investigation... We've also been working like dogs on the 2016 class. That's the SWAG 16 class, as they like to call themselves, and they are a really fun group to be around. They love the challenge of bringing The U back. That 2016 group will have the best infrastructure and support of any Miami Hurricane team in history. From the Schwartz Center to Sun Life Stadium, everything in the master plan will be in place by 2016..." - Al Golden

Isn't it mind boggling what a COMPETENT head coach can do for his squad de jure.

Crap, Coach L has a ROSTER full of former THREE-STAR prep players, yet he has the AUDACTIY to defeat a LEGITIMATE Top 5 team on THEIR home court. SMH still!

Now on the other hand, Miami has OVER 28 ex-FOUR/FIVE-star high school players and the Canes stumble, bumble and fumble their way to a " 6-7 " record in SEASON number four! Go figure.

Maybe above-average coaching can do wonders for a particular major college team sport. And it surely helps to put said players in schemes to be successful.

TheeMackJones

Arizona's football team played in a BCS bowl game and played in the PAC-12 championship game in SEASON NUMBER 3 of Richie R's short tenure in Tucson.

And dig this Cane fandom. The Wildcat's ONLY HAVE 6 former Four/Five-Star players on the 85 player roster.

I guess Rodriquez and his staff have an UNDERSTANDING of putting their TALENT-LADEN starters in schemes to succeed. It also helps said coaching staff DEVELOPS all those 2-Star and 3-Star players.

In the mean time Miami is stuck with Golden and D'Onofrio and may be stuck with Thee Carpetbagger's for the near term future. SMH

He's one of those superlative coaches who gets results because of the innovation of his schemes and employment of personnel. Like Mike Leach (at Texas Tech), Art Briles and Jim Harbaugh.

The Miami model under Butch Davis was to win through sheer talent. Ditto with LSU, USC, and a few others. That's what Mack Brown did at Texas through most of the 2000s.

Actually no. To maintain a baseline, I used Rivals, which doesn't go back before 2002. I actually have no idea what Andre Johnson was ranked coming into Miami, although I remember that Kellen Winslow was a top recruit that signed post-signing day.

Regarding 4* and 5* players, heck yes we need them. And our coaching staff needs to be good enough to win without them, to your point. Sounds like a contradiction, but this is Miami. Everything should be dominant.

Dexter Williams still considering Miami; will visit Notre Dame, Texas A&M

In hindsight, Dexter Williams says he probably should have handled his decommitment from the University of Miami at little differently.

In fact, had he contacted coaches and expressed his concerns, the West Orange running back might still be committed to the Hurricanes 2015 recruiting class.

As it stands however, Williams, who announced his decommitment from 'The U' via his Twitter account Jan. 2, remains open in his recruiting process with the Hurricanes still very much alive among those teams he is still considering. He will visit Notre Dame this weekend and plans a trip to Texas A&M next week, with his remaining visit to be determined, likely between Marshall and Arkansas. He has already visited Miami and Louisville with his other official trips.

"Things got real crazy there for a while," Williams said in his first interview since his Tweet stirred up 'Canes fans everywhere. "I had to kind of lay low for a while and I wasn't doing any interviews. ... I just had to let things cool down for a while.

"I really decomitted from Miami because I was kind of worried about the coach's job, but I still have a lot of interest in Miami, knowing that things are still secure down there."

Williams said he still talks to "every single one of the coaches" at Miami and that head coach Al Golden and main recruiters Hurlie Brown and James Coley, as well as Kareem Brown, often are in his ear.

"They were all just asking me about what made me decommit and they just were saying that I should have called and did it over the phone with them [instead of Twitter]," Williams said. "I thought the same thing and that they were right. ... I should have.

"They were just basically saying don't forget us and they've been coming harder and harder. They are saying, 'Stay home and play in your own backyard and help bring Miami back.' "

Many figured Williams' decommitment had something to do with what could be seen as a crowded backfield with the 2015 crop since running backs Jordan Scarlett of Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas and Mark Walton of Miami Booker T. Washington are also pledged to the 'Canes. Williams, however, said he still talks often with both Scarlett and Walton about the trio helping bring back the glory days of the old Miami, which won national titles in 1983, 1987, 1989, 1991 and 2001.

"We actually talk a lot about Miami, about trying to bring it back and we still talk about the same thing," Williams said. "They ask me if I'm still going to come to Miami and I've been telling them that I talk to Miami a lot and that I still have interest in Miami and they're just hoping I come back so we can get this thing going again."*

Things have gotten even more interesting since Williams' announcement. Top Miami running back Duke Johnson has declared for early entry to the NFL and Scarlett has said he is now "85 percent committed," and will be visiting Florida and Florida State in the final weeks before National Signing Day.

So the schools still in the hunt with Williams are Miami, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Louisville, Arkansas and Marshall. He'll make his commitment likely before National Signing Day, but his plan is to only inform the coaching staff of the school he chooses. He'll make his decision public Feb. 4.

A Florida Gators fan growing up, Williams said he talked briefly with new head coach Jim McElwain, but UF is not in the picture at this time.

"Getting on the field ... playing time will be a big part of it, the depth chart will be a big part also, and then just being comfortable with where I'm at," Williams said of what it will take to win him over. "And also just knowing that I'm with a coach who really cares and is going to push me to my full potential.

"I'm feeling pretty good. It's starting to get a little tough because time is running out, but I'm just patiently putting everything in God's hands."

Teammate and slot back Jalen Julius will also be visiting Notre Dame this weekend. West Orange had its best season ever this year, posting an 11-1 record.

Williams ran for 871 yards adn 10 touchdowns on 124 carries dor his senior season. He transferred to West Orange from Orlando Olympia High, where he ran for*He ran for*1,072 yards and three touchdowns on 180 carries as a junior.

Go,GoCanes!

With Walton being a total lock, give me either Williams or Scarlett and I'll be happy, though all three would be awesome.

Three great running backs on your roster, all with 3-4 years left can be considered a position of excellent depth.

Nah, Miami is a player's school. THE players' school, when it's working correctly. Dumping staff after NSD is a betrayal. Maybe Meyer or Saban would do it, but if so that's because they don't give a rat's ass about their players as people.

UMike

I think its obvious no changes will be made. Golden does not believe he is wrong, his staff is wrong, his scheme is wrong etc etc... this is why he has never fired anyone... ever.

He is already selling the class of 2016 when the 2015 class hasnt even signed yet, and the admins simply do not care, or they agree.

It really is mind blowing how much reaching he is doing with that statement about the 2016 class. But I dont think ANY changes are coming. If he is not getting any pressure and if he actually believes his first year us 2016, and that all he needs is those players, why make any changes.

SinisterCane

#Blame Players, Fanes, Twitter

Go,GoCanes!

I can't see any scenario in which they'd wait until after NSD to fire coaches.

IMO this staff is going to ride or die together. Fail and they're gone, succeed and they've turned the corner.
