Yes we are aware and for me, I am glad Ohio State won and here is why..............

Yes, the Ducks have great uni's, wonderful shoes and state of the art facilities that was all paid for by Mr. Knight who has given at least 300 million dollars to the program. 300 Million can buy alot but I am glad it can't buy you a championship.

If recruits want to win, the really need to focus on something other than sexy uniforms and high end facilities. I mean if the Ducks cant win a championship with a Heisman winning QB and 4 turnovers by the other team, I cant see them ever winning the whole thing.

In 2011 we beat OSU. Both finish 6-6 on the regular season. We’re 22-16 since. They’re 38-3. What a difference a head coach makes.

They just won a national championship and went undefeated in 2012.. and due to their own NCAA investigation and sanctions sat out the conference championship and bowl game.

Crossing my fingers...hope this isn't the OSU that pissed CINCO off:

A year later? Duh -- half of the Buckeyes' starters are sophomore or freshmen. You don't send 19-year-olds onto the field to play 22-year-olds in a sport as physical as football.

"Long story short," Ohio State quarterback Cardale Jones said, "we weren't supposed to be here."

A year later is now. The Buckeyes won the College Football Playoff on Monday night, smashing Oregon 42-20 with the combination of toughness and speed that has been the signature of Meyer's teams in a 13-year career that has produced three national champions.

That was a sophomore, Ohio State tailback Ezekiel Elliott, who rushed for 246 yards and four touchdowns and won Offensive Player of the Game. But here's the stat that tells you the story of the game: Elliott had 36 carries and lost yards on just one.

That was a sophomore, safety Tyvis Powell, named Defensive Player of the Game, who led the Buckeyes with nine tackles. That was another sophomore, defensive end Joey Bosa, who spent the second half in the Oregon backfield and sent the Heisman Trophy winner, Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, to the bench for a play in the fourth quarter.

Remember when everyone said Chickillo was too big? Bosa didn't have an issue with his size (same as Chick) at the same position.

They're listed at basically the same size. Bosa = 6'5 280, Chick = 6'4 282

CaneRock

What is Bosa, a 4-3 DE?

Ohio_Cane

From official team pages ^^

UMike

Ohio.. I know what thay say... but come on man.. just look at them and you can tell it isnt even close.

Ohio_Cane

UMike, go look at OSU vs VT (Bosa vs LT & RT), and compare Chick vs VT's LT & RT. They're basically the same size. Bosa is just better, more athletic, and in a better scheme.

CaneRock

Bosa is longer & leaner...while Chick maybe grew an inch, and got wider. But I agree with the "in a better scheme" part, BIG difference between what they're asking Bosa to do, and what they asked 3G to do His last 2 years at UM.

CaneRock

Bosa would've been just as ineffective in this scheme as Chick was...maaaaaaybe a lil' less.

The Dude

Bosa is OSUTough.

UMike

I just want my Hurricanes to be good again! Really sucks watching other programs rise up after making moves (FSU with Jimbo, Auburn, OSU etc) while our program does nothing.

dj moonbat

Remember when everyone said Chickillo was too big? Bosa didn't have an issue with his size (same as Chick) at the same position.

Posted by: Ohio_Cane | January 13, 2015 at 10:04 AM

I don't think Chickillo is 'too big.' I think too much of his 'big' is either fat or water. Lot of carbs, lot of creatine behind that rapid jump in size.

If his pro team gets serious about putting quality weight on Chickillo, he'll end up at a similar weight to where he is now, but with a much higher proportion of muscle.

UMike

I guess you guys are right.. different scheme, and definitely a different TYPE of weight.

CaneRock

I agree. If anything, Chick should've gotten Leaner,Stronger,Faster...not just bigger.

UMike

I think there was to much emphasis put in size, and not necessarily he kind of size. DP is a different story.

CaneRock

UMike...I think they need to put more of an emphasis on movement, and then take it from there. And I think they are, which is why you're hearing about TH3 & Moore doing work on the track.

CaneRock

I remember when I used to run the track & steps at Traz Powell/GMAC, I was in the best shape of my life...had major ups, would've folded WWIM up if He got under the rim LMAO!

UMike

TH3 should of been on track from day 1, it was obvious he wasnt that fast. And Moore is a dam lost cause lol

VA Cane

Ohio State University has done it again. 12 years after winning a national title, they rise to the top to do it again. Can you say power football? A monster O line and a physical D line, a capable and able QB and a hoss RB.....sound familiar? put them at #1. Deservedly so. Very impressive job by their team, and their HC Urban Meyer. While not his biggest fan, I love his coaching. At UF he had more speed and a great D, with a QB that fit the style. Same at OSU....he takes what he has.....and he wins. Matter of fact...he has won everywhere he has been..Bowling Green, Utah, UF, now OSU. # NCs in 9 years pretty damn impressive. Again, I may not like all of the persona, but I did see a humble, grateful, selflessness of a coach who did one heck of a job leading coaching developing a team to the dizzying heights of a NC. The are undisputed champs and all respect to them.

Not everyone sees the fact that winning titles...absolute outright undisputed titles is solely what matters in this game at any level. You develop coach drive motivate push people to do this the right way.

Remember who told ya so...the VAC...Old # 40!!!

"WINNING:...Life Family School Football in that order."

"Success:when Preparation meets Opportunity."

"TEAM Together Everyone wins Mightily."

Thats how I do it...always have and alway will.

Its great to be the best....and hard. Its even better to always be close, have a shot, be in contention, to matter, to be relevant.....not many of those people around. In football The NE Pats are the model....many different titles, 3 SBs....the ultimate model to try to emulate.

I am very proud of my MC Panthers, we have done a great job of being true champions in my 4 phases above...94-3 6 of last 8 SB's, 5 post season Hopewell Bowls (8 municipality tournament)...and though I am called the leader....its not so true....my kids lead the way they do the blocking tackling put in the work. I am very proud of them, and they are the winners....perhaps a more apt title for me might be...The Developer...takes in a lot of hats.....i like that concept....go figure!!!!
Have a great day all of you.

UMike

CR.. same here. I ran track for NMB Optimist and we practiced at FIU over off Biscayne, loved running the steps. My little ass could FLY on an 8ft rim lol

CaneRock

TH3 should of been on track from day 1, it was obvious he wasnt that fast.

Posted by: UMike | January 13, 2015 at 11:16 AM

YUP! Listening to Aeneas Williams' HOF speech, He said running track His Sr year at Southern, is what improved His draft stock.

CaneRock

UMike...every now & then, we would go to Haulover, strap on a weight jacket, and run sprints on the sand. That $h!t right there gets you RIGHT! I had that "1st to His car when cats start shooting in the parking lot at the club" speed! LMAO!

UMike

CR.. Oh I know that speed lol

CaneRock

I couldn't imagine doing that stuff today, I remember Coach Rolle used to make us run from Central to TP! I swear He was trying to kill us LMAO!

UMike

Then again I was only about 140 lbs back then... the only white boy on the track team lol

CaneRock

And that's what I don't get...assuming TH3 played tons of Optimist ball, how the hell didn't He run track?!

mi@mic@ne

I said last week that penetration kills the spread. And you saw last nite when OSU pushed the play back at a deeper starting point that the play that looked like a 5 yrd gain was actually a 1 yarder...lol

mi@mic@ne

Oh yea thats what she said...lol

Go,GoCanes!

OSU showed last night what year after year after year of great recruiting gets when combined with a top notch coach.

They completely dominated Oregon on both lines of scrimmage and were the far more physical team. A lot has been said about that kid being 3rd string but watching him the last few weeks proves yet again you have to have depth of talent everywhere to compete at a national level.

We had some very talented kids this year who deserved more than the W-L record they ended up with. But comparing our overall talent level to teams like OSU is crazy. Talk about coaching all you want, but it takes incredible talent for a QB to truck a D-lineman for a first down one play, escape the pocket and run for another the next, then fire a laser 40 yds downfield for a long gain.

Meyer has a program that's built to last up there and he doesn't have to worry about his players getting put through the meat grinder, like SEC coaches do.

Makes me ill to think about seeing the coach and program I loathe the most (aside from UF) on my TV for years to come.

thirstybuzzardcane

Oh yea thats what she said...lol

Posted by: mi@mic@ne | January 13, 2015 at 11:54 AM

---------------------------------------

I was just going to say that.....LOL!

thirstybuzzardcane

I'll tell you one thing, I would never draft Winston or Mariotta is the first round. Maybe 6th or 7th but that's it.

mi@mic@ne

We have just as much speed and size as OSU has right in our back yard...we just need Butch to bring it all together....how long are we gonna go through this cluster f#$$%. We are just beating ourselves with this bunch.

Go,GoCanes!

Btw there is no comparing what we went through with the NCAA to what OSU did. They didn't have a single recruiting class affected by it.

The crap hit the fan in March when Tressel was suspended, they got their notice of allegations in April and by December had their punishment, a one year bowl ban and 5 schollys over 3 years.

It took a whopping six months AND they hired Meyer in the interim.

Must have been nice to get such expedited treatment.

thirstybuzzardcane

Did anyone else see the latest rumor out there? Saw on my wife's facebook page, that the soon rumor to be president (forgot his name, but some former admiral in the military) is very good friends with Butch and will be hiring him. There are people (Dimare and other member) on the board that want butch back! Sounds fishy to me, but only one could dream!

mi@mic@ne

I love the military...LMAO

thirstybuzzardcane

I don't mind having Golden here, but things have to change! D'no has to go ASAP!! Golden needs to cut the bullshyt and get a DC that attacks. A few position coaches that are going to be let go isn't going to do shyt!

The Dude

tbc,

It's probably too late for a quality DC to come in and save Al. Sure he could take a chance and over promote a position coach from somewhere but that just means more learning on the job at what's supposed to be an elite football power. This is what happens when a program gives a guy enough rope to hang himself and he does just that. He's a lame duck now, who wants to sign up for that? No one. Miami HAS to hit the reset button now, it's the only option they've given themselves if they want to win more than just enough to make a bowl game.

The Dude

I think it was Meyer's second year at FU when ESPN did a special on his team and the way they train. EVERYONE was doing speed training, Urban always wants to be the fastest team in the country. They were saying last night how he has his guys fight over a tire just to teach them grit.

Lol, can't compare OSU and Miami because you can't compare anything to Al that makes him look like the failure he is.

VA Cane

We have just as much speed and size as OSU has right in our back yard...we just need Butch to bring it all together....

I would agree with this 100%. You get a good # of these kids, and then some kids from outside of here...LA, TX, OK, CA and other hot beds like JJ, Butch HS, Erickson did.....its magic. You win and stay around the top.

I loved the OSU attack...and while I am going to add a few wrinkles from Oregon...I have a QB coming back and a first year kid behind him that is phenomenal that can run that hurry up....we did a little....I have long been a advocate of that big OL monster DL....but I play almost 100% man....cause we are that good and athletic....and i blitz a lot out of the 46 and the 44 Killer....I run the pistol and shotgun....we will run that Jim Kelly Gun this year as our hurry up.

Rumors out that we are already meeting scheming....couple coaches called me said how do you do it get them out? Simple....winning in football is so much more fun that sitting on a couch getting fat and pimply eating tacos and chips drinking soda playing loser fantasy video games.....my kids love to win....its the greatest feeling in the world.

Love Myers brand of football, it was awesome; does not make me sick at all...makes me wish it was August already. Can overlook his past persona; appreciate that he is a true winner in the game.

BTW there is no need to compare what OSU went through or make excuses.....they have been winning titles, putting guys in the pros for years and have 8 titles....they have been great for a long time. Besides you cannot compare people who are winning at a high level and people who are losing at a low level....no common ground cause winning is the ticket; losing....well....I guess some people practice it for extended time periods enjoy it love it......and it becomes their God their mantra their modus operandi....you know the height of mediocracy

not me baby!!! Just win....Urban knows how to do it give him that!!!

mi@mic@ne

We predicted this would happen three years ago..now its too late cause nobody wants to play in a.losing defense...i dont feel bad cause the warning signs were not heeded..

UMike

Go Canes, I do agree that its unfair to compare the talent level between Miami and OSU, BUT that falls on coaches. Do we even have a 3rd string qb?? lol...

BUT, I think even though they may have more talent, one its because they recruited better, but we still have enough talent to not go 6-7 and lose to the teams we lose to. That has always been my issue. I agree our NCAA mess costs us some recruits, but coaches still whiffed on others all by themselves. If Meyer was coaching this years Miami team we would be in the ACCCG at the LEAST imo

Go,GoCanes!

Agree 100% UMike.

CaneRock

OPINION: Why OSU rose, UM floundered

Gary Ferman
CaneSport.com

In 2011, during Al Golden's first season as head coach of the Miami Hurricanes, The U pummeled Ohio State 24-6 a week after opening the season with a loss at Maryland, a week before traveling to Kansas State and getting beaten 28-14. Miami was not very good, Ohio State was worse. Now Ohio State has a national title and Miami is 6-7. So what happened from then to now? CaneSport publisher Gary Ferman takes a look at how the two programs headed in different directions with different agendas...
