WHAT!

Terrance Sullivan

Our Student Athletes are doing great. Go Canes.

86Cane

Also, I go to all the games, talks to lots of people, none of them express the desire to leave for a crappy soccer stadium. Anyone on CS that goes to games never expressed that desire, if they exist here, they can speak up. Anyone I've questioned on social media that's hellbent on a new stadium, I always ask the right questions or can tell from their profiles.

Posted by: Lur-ker | June 28, 2015 at 09:43 PM

The stadium was always FINE with me AND is being improved significantly but what needs to improve the most is the on-the-field product.

It is simple really: "Win and they will come."

Rock and Roll!

Go Canes

Ready for the new and improved stadium!

Nice to see they caught that other prisoner in New York. If I were a cop, would of killed his ass and save the tax payers a lot of money!!!!!

thirstybuzzardcane

^^^^ I would (can't stand typing on phone)

CaneRock

Don't blame me, blame Donna, She's the one that called SLS a "cave".

thirstybuzzardcane

Looks like LeBron will opt out of his contract as expected. Let the LeBron drama start once again. I wouldn't be surprised if Wade signs with Cleveland.

Go Canes

No way Wade signs there. They can't offer him any money.

Boise is larger than 200k, there's closer to 600k. There's Caldwell, Nampa, Meridian, etc all in the same area. BSU's stadium IS too small, they are always trying to expand it. If I had to guess a number they'd want, it would be around 50k. Boise State football isn't the only thing going on either. There's a lot of outdoors things to do, especially when the summer cools down and people start heading outdoors. People just care more about their team in certain areas. These Cleveland fans are completely unbearable but they know everyone on the team and everywhere you go its Cavs this, Browns that, Indians here, Suckeyes there. They really support their teams. It's not like California or Florida. When Harsin took over he came out to Idaho Falls. I went to ask about what would be different between him and Coach Pete. Super nice guy, he drew enourmous crowds there.

Lur-ker

So using surrounding areas it's 600k. I'll buy that. If you use the Miami MSA area in S. Florida, it's about 6 million. Idaho population (entire state) 1.5 million.

I realize those are some dedicated fans and that team could probably draw 50-60k easily if they had the stadium.

I'm embarrassed we're even talking about a crappy little 40k stadium, to be honest. My theory is that we have a hard core population of local dedicated fans numbering about 35k-40k. The stadium fills up with the rest when we win more. But as Go Canes says, the little stadium is never happening.

CaneRock

we have a hard core population of local dedicated fans numbering about 35k-40k.

Posted by: Lur-ker | June 29, 2015 at 12:04 AM

Outta "about 6 million"? And you're "embarrassed" by the prospects of playing in A "crappy little 40k stadium"?...BWAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA!

NY Trooper

Nice to see they caught that other prisoner in New York. If I were a cop, would of killed his ass and save the tax payers a lot of money!!!!!

We tried!

Go Canes

Like I also said, CR's not going to any stadium, be it renovated, old, new, big or small.

So who cares?

I'll be at any of those places if something changes. But the reality is the only home we'll have for a long, long, long time is Sun Life.

I'm fine with that.

The Dude

Seems like an easy sell for HS recruits to me. Come play in an NFL stadium. But attendance has been POOR to say the least. I'm not saying the games need to be sold out, but I'd take 45,000 during the lesser games. Sometimes it looks like there's more people on the field and sidelines than there are in the stands, although I think Blake is doing his best to fix that, other than firing Al and hiring Oregon's staff.

Terrance Sullivan

Like 86 and Lur-ker said Sun Life is fine. We Good on the Stadium Front. Just need the On Field Product to produce wins. That is all.

Lur-ker

Posted by: CaneRock | June 29, 2015 at 12:47 AM

Yes I am embarrassed. Aren't you? An MSA of 6 million and we've got 40k hard core fans. But I'm not embarrassed for myself, just for all the people that talking a big game but don't even show up to one game.

You're either part of the solution or part of the problem in that equation. Which one are you?

There's your "BWAHAHAHA..."

Old Skool

Lur-ker I have to disagree. If you'll go back and look the numbers I put together for Terrence early in the year cross-referencing USC's and UCLA's market size, school size and number of graduates with game attendance, you'll find that Miami's support is in line with those schools.

Terrance Sullivan

Miami averages roughly 52,500 tickets sold Yearly. We good at Sun Life. Especially Since the new Capacity is 65,000 down from 76,000. When the tarps are put in for non big games the capacity decreases to 56,000. Perfect. Just Win Baby.

Please DON'T include me in the " we " notion regarding Golden, D'Onofrio and the Canes.

Simply because I was SOUR, DOUR on the Golden FLEECE since MID-SEASON of the 2011 Miami, Florida season!!!! By the way, their was enough TALENT on that particular Cane team to FINISH 8-4 in '11. But that's neither here or there now.

More to the point. The game against MIGHTY Maryland gave Canespace rowdies a PREVIEW of what was going to take place under Golden and D'Onofrio ( The mighty Turtles just happen to finish " 2-10 " in 2011. That's 2-10!! And Maryland's other win was over TOWSON ST. Go figure. ).

I mean what more evidence does Canespace rowdies need after FOUR SEASONS of Golden and D'Onofrio. LMFAO

In other words, to harp about a meaningless moot, point. Time after time. LAST SEASON should have been the proverbial proof in the Golden pudding about U Know Who's coaching acumen and what not. But no. U'all still continue to give Albert the benefit of the doubt. SMH

Again, Cane fandom NEVER stop talking about Miami having BETTER OVERALL TALENT than 10 of the 12 opponents they've faced the past four campaigns. That seems to be an ENDLESS talking point. And the recent NFL draft proves this point to a lesser degree. Yet there's that " 6-7 " tally in '15. And that's with TWO 1st Round and TWO 2nd Round draft choices. LMFAO

So here's looking at 7-5 in 2015. Hopefully Golden will make me look like the one grasping after the Fool's Gold., laying at the bottom of a murky, brown rustic stream. LMFAO

Go Canes

Maryland?

1st game after the Shapiro mess broke? Was it 10 players suspended?

More mumble jumbo...

Go Canes

Pretty crazy stat I took from that link above.

Last two seasons, we are 13-3 before FSU, 2-7 after.

TheeMackJones

After doing some aimless college football research. I discovered that Miami, Florida's overall PRESEASON ranking is NO. 40. And NOT the No.21 ranking some Cane dude bloviated about.

Matter of fact, Phil Steele came up with the stat's of SIX reputable sources and tallied their rankings into an overall consensus Top 128 ranking.

These SIX reliable Top 25 preseason polls come from ESPN, Lindy's, Athlon, College football news and two statistical guru's, FEI and S&P+.

Posted by: Go Canes | June 29, 2015 at 12:07 PM

More REVISIONEST history and distortion of the FACTS. Or is that CHERRY PICKING the stat's and fact. LMFAO

Oh. One more thing. The suspensions were SPREAD OUT and ONLY one game suspensions. Also, Miami didn't suspend ALL players for the Maryland game.

Matter of fact, ONLY three of the 11 suspended players were STARTERS ( Oliver, Armstrong, and QB Harris only sat out one game ( Jacory played the entire game against MIGHTY Maryland. ).

Also, of those suspended players. I believe, if memory serves me right. ONLY FOUR of the players were STARTERS. And not ALL TEN players you DISINGENUOUSLY mention above.

But then again, you WILLING chose to IGNORE that FACT that mighty Maryland finished the season " 2-10 " and one of those victories was agains some OBSCURE I-AA team called Towson St. LOL

Chit, I knew you was a Golden LAP DOG. But bubba. You obviously have your VANILLA nose all the way up Golden's doo-doo whole!!!

Again, 7-5 is what I'm going with in 2015.

And just to prove I'm not all dour, sour on the Golden One. I predicted Miami, Florida would FINISH 8-4 in 2015 and FINALLY win a bowl game since 2001. MAN WAS I WRONG, again. LMFAO

CaneRock

LMAO!

Terrance Sullivan

TheeMackJones I said Phil Steele had us #21 not what the average was. Don't know if anyone else said it as well. But whether we are 21 or 40 preseason. That's at least an 8-4 prognosis. Obviously 21 is saying at least 9-3 or more clearly better than a 6-6 or 5-7 Mark that some want to predict. Either way our Canes got to get it done.

The Dude

Mack,

There may be 3 people on this blog giving Al the benefit of the doubt. The rest of us are either pissed and are dealing with the reality of the situation or are pissed and can't get over how pissed we are.

TheeMackJones

Go Cane, wasn't it the Turtle game, which Golden and D'Onofrio had the Cane corner's playing SEVEN or EIGHT yards off the LOS. And the safties were playing something like 13 or 14 yards from the LOS.

And wasn't Miami's DE's covering Maryland's RB's something like 12 or 14 yards down the field. LOL

All I know Go Canes. Is Maryland had a QB which was STARTING HIS FIRST major college football game and Golden/D'Onofrio's COVERAGE schemes made the Turtle QB look ALL-ACC 2nd team. Or at least Honorable Mention ACC.

SinisterCane

Al Golden has inspired a civil war amongst CANEZ FANS :(

Here's to 7-5

TheeMackJones

My BAD go Canes. I ignorantly forgot. It was Golden and D'Onofrio's first game under the BRIGHT LIGHTS of national television. And ' we ' do know by now. That Golden mysteriously has a thing with the BRIGHT LIGHTS of national television.

So perhaps I should CONTINUE to give Golden a break and what not, after four, sour seasons in Coral Gables.

Sorry!

NicKane

Exactly! Getting this stadium done with Beckhams group which we would be co owners on would be the best thing to happen to this program since we won the NC in 2001\. Not to mention going back hollowed ground in the sight of the great old OB. Also not to mention being in the actual city of Miami again. Were the Miami hurricanes, not the Broward hurricanes! It's like some of these people that post on here aren't even real canes fans, instead of caring about what's best for the program, they only care about what's best for themselves. New flash trolls, SLS sucks! We never owned the OB! Now we have a chance to actually be part owners in a stadium of our own and all some of you can do is complain. News flash again, were never gonna have a stadium in Coral gables! Having a brand new 40,000/45,000 stadium that were actual partners in, that we can realistically fill every Saturday and returning to the sight of the OB is as good as it's gonna get for the program, the city of Miami, dade county, and the community of little Havana. Get behind and support our MIAMI hurricanes or get out!

TheeMackJones

Early Sin City wagering lines.

FSU - 14 1/2 vs. Miami

Clemson - 4 vs. Miami

Miami - 6 1/2 vs. Virginia Tech

Miami vs. Nebraska PICK'EM

FWIW... the vast majority of the time, the road team is the winner in PICK'EM games ( Approximately 75% of the time. OUCH. ).

In other words, PICK'EM games are the TEXTBOOK, CLASSIC Golden Fool's games for Vegas line setters. Simply because the degenerates tend to play the ' home team ' and the gambling stat's suggest the vast majority of the time, the ROAD TEAM wins those Pick' Em games.

So CAVEAT EMPTOR on the Hurricane vs. Nebraska game come late September.

CaneRock

"We never owned the OB!"

Don't know about owned, but we actually occupied the OB longer than the Dolphins. We were the ONLY occupants in that building for close to 50 years.

Terrance Sullivan

BOL hahaha SLS is in Miami-Dade County not Fort Lauderdale-Broward County. Nice try Troll.

CaneRock

Can anybody name me 1 team, with at least 1 NC, that's a tenant in an NFL stadium?

CaneRock

^^^^^^^^^^ Besides UM that is.

TheeMackJones

I guess Vegas line makers no longer give Miami, Florida the benefit of the doubt. Because the Canes should be at least a -3 1/3 home chalk against that Herbie Cornhusker squad.

Oh. I failed to mention the Thursday BRIGHT LIGHTS against the Bear Kats of Cincinnati.

Cincinnati - 4 vs. Miami

Again, there's that BRIGHT LIGHTS ' variable ' with Miami and the point spread.

Terrance Sullivan

Pitt Panthers they have 4 National Titles.

SinisterCane

Posted by: CaneRock | June 29, 2015 at 01:08 PM

Maybe PITT?

TheeMackJones

Hopefully the ACC and the national television outlet's will give Golden a BREAK and have AFTERNOON kickoff times of both the FSU and Clemson games.

Then maybe the Hurricanes can win one of those games.

TheeMackJones

Pitt Panthers they have 4 National Titles.

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | June 29, 2015 at 01:12 PM

4 NC trophies! Heck the last Panther national championship team was back in the glory days of STUDIO 54 and what not. I believe 1976 with Dorsett leading the way.

I guess those other championship squads happened during the Great Depression and Roaring Twenties.

Lur-ker

This guy is just a clown. By writing it in all caps, do you think always being wrong is less noticeable?

This one was up there with your grand proclamation they in our history we've never had less than 50% local kids before Golden, when in fact Randy's last two classes ran about 25-35%.

Here is the truth about the Maryland game:

Miami was playing its initial game under Al Golden without eight suspended players, including quarterback Jacory Harris, linebacker Sean Spence and defensive linemen Marcus Forston and Adewale Ojomo.

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | June 29, 2015 at 01:03 PM

Guys like you Terrance and Lurker like to talk shit about the possible new stadium just to here yourselves talk. You say things like "crappy rinky dink 40,000 stadium" but neither one of you no crap. Have you seen the stadium design proposal drawings? It's far from rinky dink, it's state of the art and beautiful. And of course I know Miami Gardens is technically in dade county but you don't have to be a rocket scientist to realize that it's on the border and much closer to broward then it is to the city of Miami. And even though it's clear your no rocket scientist, if you still don't have enough common sense to figure that out, then your a fool. As far as the possible new stadium go's, I'll share with you all what I've heard here in Brickell. I run a very successful nightclub here in Miami and from time to time some people in the know at UM come in and I've taken care of them while there in my club and from what they've told me is that the UM administration is 100% behind this joint stadium with beckhams group. But before the partnership becomes guaranteed, UM is waiting on Beckham to pick the spot for the stadium because UM will only agree to the old OB spot and after that, what the financial split will be for both parties in the partnership. Now this is just what I've heard from some customers of mine who work at UM, so you can take it for what it's worth but these guys have never told me any BS before. So I'm just giving you new stadium haters a heads up, if the location is right and the money is right, this stadium is gonna get done. And I couldn't be happier about because as I live in Brickell, so I'll enjoy my five minute drive to little Havana to watch my canes in a stadium that's actually filled and not an embarrassment on espn's arial shots anymore of an empty NoLife stadium.

CaneRock

Pitt won all their NCs playing at Pitt Stadium, they never won one playing at Heinz field.

TonyCane

Can't we just wait until the Marlins move and take over their stadium...on the site of the old OB...and rename it THE ORANGE BOWL?!

Terrance Sullivan

UM Talk is actually talking about the team and the season. Or UM teams and their season. Besides we have talked this Stadium talk ad nauseum

Ohio_Cane

At this point it doesn't matter where the stadium is or will be located. If Golden doesn't the Coastal Div. this yr. his ass will get flushed out of Miami

CaneRock

That Tony Chachere must be serious:

"Caleb Joshua Halley, who served as Chief Osceola from 2004-07 and graduated from the university in 2009, was allegedly stabbed last Tuesday by coworker Orlando Thompson at a restaurant where the two worked. The incident occurred after an apparent altercation over the amount of spice to put into some gumbo at Buddy's Seafood Market.

According to police, Thompson pulled out a wooden board while Halley grabbed a small pocket knife. Thompson then walked away and brought back a 15-inch knife. He allegedly swung the knife at Halley, causing three lacerations across his torso.

Halley, 34, died two days later, on Thursday, from the injuries. Thompson, 26, was arrested by Panama City Beach Police and charged with manslaughter."
