Like the moves, never saw either guy as Tackles, especially Jones...Pete.

"**Redshirt freshman Bar Milo’s transition from tackle to guard has not been easy, but it seems like he is finally getting a hold of things. Milo said he moved to guard “about four days ago”.

“Earlier in training camp, I was having a rough time – I was having mental issues. I went to coach (Searels) and told him and I can’t thank him enough for how patient he’s been with me,” Milo said.

“I haven’t been playing how I wanted to this whole training camp, but I’m starting to get back into that fun, festive mood that I usually get in when I’m on the field.”

“I think going to guard with my frame and having people on both sides of me with experience helps a lot. I feel comfortable so far,” he added.

A source told CanesInSight that Jahair Jones has also been working exclusively as a guard."

Another UM player investigated
2 pm Saturday: UM's investigation into players who might have used cars from a South Beach luxury car rental agency, in exchange for future promises, has expanded and now includes UM receiver Stacy Coley, according to a source with direct knowledge. As we have previously reported, Al Quadin Muhammad and Jermaine Grace also are being investigated by UM for using cars from South Beach Exotic Rentals. UM, not the NCAA, is handling the investigation. UM has declined to say if any of the players will be suspended. Some UM players are expecting short suspensions for the players, but it remains unclear if that will happen. UM is still in the process of determining what, if any, discipline will be doled out.

It's something worth watching. Even when Ice was RB coach at the U, he failed to get several BTW kids (and other S. FLA kids) to commit to the U. BTW took a bus load of players from their team to FSU and UF camps over the summer.

Lur-ker

Who cares about those kids, other than Telfort.

How about reading a couple of paragraphs and seeing that other than Telfort, none were targets.

Yes, it's possible Lice might hold a grudge, but it's not like he EVER helped UM in recruiting. EVER. Even when he was employed by us.

Let's get real.

CaneRock

Eduardo Clements,Brandon Harris, Davon Johnson, Chad Thomas, Demetrius Jackson, Mark Walton...that's not helping UM in recruiting?

thirstybuzzardcane

I know we're still on probabation, but does this hurt us if the players do wrong or do coaches have to be involved?

I would say it's the latter, I haven't seen any indications where any coaches were involved or aware.

CaneRock

^^^^^^^^^ To clarify, if this was just the players acting autonomously, I don't think we'll get sanctioned as a team/program. But I haven't seen any indications that coaches were involved or aware.

Lur-ker

Brandon Harris is his son, as we all know. That's ancient history. So is Clements.

The other players like Chad, he didn't get those players in,

Let me throw a couple of names at you:
Matthew Thomas and Denver Kirkland

He was hired not because of his coaching, but because of the issues in the 305 with the last staff and he did little to nothing to help with that.

DeeCane

Sully, i think we win more than 5 games even if we surprisingly lost to App St..lol.... I do believe it will be:

AQM :2-3 games suspension
Grace: 1 game
Coley:1 game

Terrance Sullivan

LOL

CaneRock

Chad Thomas, Mark Walton, & Demetrious Jackson...that's little to nothing?...LOL.

Sheez, with the exceptions of Darling & Yearby, if ex-players like Roland Smith &
Mike Rumph couldn't "steer" players to UM, fuq make you think Ice could turn water to wine?...LOL.

Face it buddy, the last staff was @$$, their shortcomings in the 305 were self inflicted, had absolutely nothing to do with Ice.

Lur-ker

Yea they were ass. Ice was never a college-quality hire. One of their many hiring mistakes.

As far as those three, ice wasn't their recruiter.

As far as Rumph, in terms of recruiting, I hope he's a better coach than he's so far been a recruiter. I'll just leave it at that for now.

We have to earn that respect back. Once we start out 3-0 or 4-0, we'll pop back up quickly. It works that way with all established programs.

An extreme example:
Notre Dame in the past. They would have a losing season and be unranked. Then the following season they start out 3-0 and suddenly they are back in the Top 10.

Lur-ker

After we go 3-0, we'll be around 22-24. After we beat GT, at 4-0, we'll be somewhere between 16-20

58 Straight

Tony...that's because the media and most people LOVE Notre Dame. They will rank them at even the slightest opportunity. The media and most people HATE Miami. They will resist ranking us as long as they can and put us as low as they can until they are left no choice but to rank us high again. We will have to EARN IT! IJS

The back and forth was amazing! I thought Diaz was done in the 1st round, then McGregor looked finished in the 3rd. I agree that they got this fight right. McGregor is now saying that he wants Diaz to come down in weight, but there's already a strong group waiting for that belt so we'll see what Dana does. He can't keep letting these two fighters tie up every weight class. McGregor is going to have to drop one of his belts and it will most likely be the belt he won last night.

Old Skool

Six Notre Dame football players, including Freshman receiver Kevin Stepherson were arrested Friday night in Fulton County (Indiana) after police stopped them for speeding. They each were charged with possession of marijuana

Posted by: Sarasota 'cane | August 21, 2016 at 03:18 PM

Here's the thing... McGregor cant knock out Diaz at 170, if that fight went 6 rounds Diaz probably finishes him. McGregor is obviouly more polished, but Diaz can hang punch for punch. If I'm McGregor and Ive fought him 2 times at his weight, yeah make him come down to mine.

VA Cane

Chad Thomas, Mark Walton, & Demetrious Jackson.

Walton had a nice year over 1,000, 10 TDs....he helped the team for sure.
Thomas 25 tackles 1 sack in 2 years...he would ride my bench.Jackson 11 takles 0.5 sack last year. Both guys....nowhere to be found they have really shown nothing on the field as players. Nice kids, no production yet. Especially Thomas.....very disappointing as a player. Lets hope they step it up quite a bit....need to produce. I dont care where they played HS.....time to step up this aint HS.

I am so damn glad the Olympics are over....host city has been in red since 1984 when Uberroth ran them....showed a profit of $250 mil..... nothing to do with countries feeling good about each other....just a bunch of bitter whining.
US hoops acts like winning is a big thing....the rest of the teams suck they should win by 50...men and women.....I like seeing bolt run...rest of it....not at all!

Lur-ker

So far, one dismissal and one suspension for ND.

VA Cane

Rankings mean nothing, if they do, we are about where we should be....maybe too high....we have not done anything in a long time 12 years of well.....not worth a tinkers damn. We have to play much better, beat somebody that is good, and play consistent. I do think CMR is a fundamentals guy as is the staff....crazy how the defenders said they were learning to use their hands......sad commentary on AlPa and NoDpa.....stupid ass coaches....so glad they are gone they deserve a fate of never coaching again......neither could coach sandlot. I think The staff will get us going and perhaps by mid season we will see what our fate is. dont expect too much....overachieve, be humble, keep your head down, mouth shut.....and win. simple formula.

VA Cane

Kick all there dumbasses off the team out of school. Home!!

BigWindyCane1

I am not going to judge Ice yet, but I am keeping my eye on him. As for Rumph, I can only judge by what I am reading and it seems that he is taking a transfer, a freshman and some other Golden recruits and turning them into solid press corners in a short period of time. The players speak highly of him as a coach. We will see how they perform in a couple of weeks.

As for recruiting in south Florida, the better football programs in Miami-DADE , like booker t., Central, NORLAND, SOUTHRIDGE, carol city, northwestern, etc., are public schools while the Broward programs like St. Thomas and American Heritage are private schools. Miramar is Broward, but they are on the border and they recruit north DADE anyway. Each county is different and the dynamics with students and parents are very different.

The bottom line is that when the hurricanes start winning (and I believe they will this season), they will get more recruits. The recruiting landscape has changed over the last 20 years. South Florida actually produces more recruits than they did when butch Davis was at the U. There are great players on almost every field during football season in south Florida. The canes don't need all of them, they just need to get the ones that fit CMR's profile, and CMR will do the rest

VA Cane

I would agree; many kids that are here are Golden recruits; AlPa and NoDPa were horrible coaches. Some of the kids they got were good; but hell they cannot coach. AlPa and staff were worse than Clappy and Randy......worst staff ever in our history.

I think CMR has really put together a good staff, great camps, is really reaching out to the communities; he will get us back to where we want to be. We will not win the NC this year; no. We will not be involved this year; but we will be good and will get better each game.

The reason I did not care for AlPa and Co; lack of understanding, implementing, and teaching fundamentals. how do you not know and teach defenders to use their hands? I do...to chuck people distract people, to hold people damn right I teach holding people. How clueless can a staff be? You can get good kids but you cannot make them better? Had to go. I think CMR has really put together a good staff....quickly. I will see what happens, but it feesl good.

This UM staff believes better teaching will help solve two huge problems from the Al Golden era: too many penalties (worst in the country last season) and poor tackling. But there’s something else Mark Richt is doing:

Safety Rayshawn Jenkins said Richt, after practice, calls out a list of players who committed penalties, missed tackles or did something coaches don’t like.

They’re then punished by having to push sleds or do “whatever hurts,” Jenkins said, adding this is different from Golden’s approach.

Jenkins believes that will help solve the problem because “people don’t want to be here doing that.”

• The perception is UM’s talent remains below FSU’s and top SEC teams. True?

“We have enough talent to be successful [but] we’re not as deep as we need to be at certain spots,” offensive coordinator Thomas Brown said. But "from a talent standpoint, the guys at the top are pretty freaking good.”

• UM is 26th (first in 'others receiving votes') in the first AP football poll released this morning. The Gators are 25th. Alabama is No. 1, followed by Clemson, Oklahoma and FSU.

• UM basketball already has made a scholarship offer to a familiar name -- Class of 2019 power forward Vernon Carey Jr., son of the standout former UM and ex-Dolphins offensive lineman. Carey averaged 13 points and 8 rebounds at University last year and has multiple offers, including from USC and Louisville.

But Carey told Canesport he has no favorites: "I'm keeping things wide open... I talked to the [UM] coaching staff when I went to visit the campus. They said they need me badly there."

Ariz:

Versatility could be key for Canes secondary

The defensive back position was viewed as a potential weakness for the 2016 Miami Hurricanes prior to fall camp, but it seems like that could end up being far from the case – and versatility could be the name of the game.

The emergence of grad transfer cornerback Adrian Colbert as a legitimate starting boundary cornerback has opened up the option of Corn Elder sliding inside to nickel corner with Sheldrick Redwine holding down the other outside corner spot.

As a two-way athlete in high school, Elder relishes the opportunity to be around the ball more than normal as a nickel back.

“You kinda get to see a lot of different looks at nickel. You’re usually covering slots or running backs, but I think you get more action there.”

Not only are the corners giving Miami defensive coaches more options, but safeties coach Ephraim Banda said that JaQuan Johnson and Rayshawn Jenkins have both been working at the nickel spot, as well as Jamal Carter at nickel and dime.

“What’s great is they’ve all logged games. They’ve all ran across the white lines with people screaming and yelling and that’s important when you’re playing nickel and dime,” Banda said.

“If I’m not mistaken, the last staff had J-Rock (Jamal Carter) play it a little bit. JaQuan has played a little dime before too.”

Miami’s first-year safeties coach explained that although Rayshawn Jenkins and Jamal Carter might be the starting safeties on paper, the sophomore Johnson should be considered a first unit player.

“Like I’ve said before, JaQuan is a starter,” Banda said. “If that game calls for nickel, it may be Jenks or JaQuan. We’re going to work them. Corn (Elder) is working that spot too. We are going to put our best players on the field.”

Malek Young has emerged over the last week or so. Young is receiving more reps with Ryan Mayes still hampering a left shoulder injury.

**Two young players have made progress recently, according to Banda – Freshman Cedrick Wright and redshirt freshman Robert Knowles.

“Ced is doing a good job. What I like about Ced and a lot of the guys you see – the young players down here love football. In recruiting, that’s what I saw in Ced and that’s what I see throughout this tri-county area,” Banda said.

“Those are the type of kids that we love. We love kids with urgency who are tough. I’ll fix the M.A.s (missed assignments), I’ll fix the technique.”

Knowles redshirted last season and seems to be in the mix for playing time at safety.

“I’m really proud of Rob. He’s a young man that’s got to work really hard at everything and I respect hard work – everyone respects hard work,” said Banda. “Rob is the epitome of that.”

“He’s still a freshman on the field, but he will go to work and you love that,” he added.

Mike, mentioning how well stocked the cupboard was with upperclassmen when Shannon left has activated GD's sid-tard excuse lists from three seasons ago which are now old and discredited.

Being a GD he can't help but defend the loser every chance that occurs online, but only because the failures of the past are dead to him if you read and actually believe his stupidity.

It also works if you mention gold-hen girl loser dude got teammate opportunities with any of those same NFL caliber players and had a losing season because he's a loser. He'll be right along mentioning how they're in the age range of people who play college football and that's why they can't win because as usual, loser recognizes losers.

The real meme from '95 has always been this from that flick anyway as anybody who actually was cool knew all the way back then;

Going back and looking at scores for Georgia and I see something I like; Richt doesnt seem to have a problem with running up the score a bit. It would really make my day to see us score 50 in each of our 1st 3 games. That will for sure get us ranked and give us some shine.

Georgia sure got rolled a few times too. Hopefully a few years away from Bama & LSU & the like gives him some breathing space to build a bunch of depth.
