we r getting caught up y'all. lets wait for G-tech. I will say, we've been steady so far.
to me if we beat FL.ST, then we r back.

Lur-ker

We're not 100% until we win our next Natty.

But it looks like we're headed in the right direction. That's all you can ask for right now.

One week, at a time, one game at a time.

The bumblebees are next. That's all that matters to me right now.

Go,GoCanes!

Great start. Not knocking him but he's got 70 yds of drops he won't have down the line:

A. Richards through 3 games:
- 9 receptions
- 203 yards
- 22.6 yards per catch
- 1 Touchdown
- 67.7 yards per game

TheeMackJones

to me if we beat FL.ST, then we r back.

Huh! Get the Fu#k outta' here with that lame CRAP!

Heck, hasn't anybody heard the news today. Miami has Mark Richt and Manny Diaz roaming the sidelines now. Along with some top notch assistant coaches. duh

Oh, and one more thing. Mighty FSU ain't got NO DEFENSE to speak, and won't have their star safety back in time for Miami, Florida. duh

Matter of fact, it was INEPT coaching which prevented Miami, Florida from defeating mighty FSU the last two games. NO IFS, BUTS or duh!!

As for the Bumbling, fumbling Bumble Bee's. Manny Diaz and the defensive assistants have TWO WEEKS to prep for Johnson's offense. Miami, Florida will also get AC back, and some other defensive players! duh

The bottom line: I already SEE-r another " double-digit " road victory for Miami, Florida!! Just U Wait and See!!!

TheeMackJones

Early bird opening point spread when the Hurricanes travel to the A-T-L...

Miami, Florida - 7

TheeMackJones

I should have mentioned that the earl bird opening point spread will be PREDICATED on how Georgia Tech performs against highly rated Clemson this Thursday evening. So I'll probably have to adjust that particular point spread after Thursday evening. huh

HillViewCane

Petrino is a pervert and a terrible driver but he as a great record with college Qb's

TheeMackJones

ESPN college pigskin power rankings.

16. Miami Hurricanes (3-0)

Trending:

Week 2 ranking: NR

Week 3 result: Defeated Appalachian State 45-10

" This was significant. Yes, Miami should beat Appalachian State. But a trip to Boone, North Carolina, for the biggest home game in Appalachian State history had danger written all over it. Instead, Miami recorded its most lopsided road win since 2003. Brad Kaaya and Mark Walton lit up the scoreboard and, more significantly, Miami's young defense held Appalachian State to 10 points. Miami now enters ACC play with great confidence. " ESPN.com

classics are fine. but I love the new funky different unis in CF. I want Adidas to come up with cool designs. anything with black would be cool.

Posted by: AfriCane | September 18, 2016 at 03:20 PM

I bet Adidas is probably mad about giving us that big deal now! Lol

Lur-ker

Adidas makes money on the deal, and that's all they care about.

If we return back to relevance, they make more money and get greater brand awareness.

The New - Old look Sucks!!

Sorry they aren't stylish and besides looking plain they are WACK!!

Anyway Glad we are winning..

They said they wanted us to be their Oregon in which I took it that they meant uniform wise... maybe I'm wrong? Majority of our fans don't want new uniforms tho so there's the problem.

I'm stuck in the middle... I like getting new uniforms but I can understand keeping it classic like most of the other top programs... but I'd rather go with the uniforms we wore when Edge was here or we should at least make the stripes on the helmet match the jerseys and pants.

Lur-ker

Bunch of canes scored today in the NFL

Go,GoCanes!

Yep. Can think of five or six off the top of my head.

Herbieibis

Okay, we drubbed 3 bums, let's not get ahead of ourselves. I love that we are 3-0 and we finally have some dam coaching but we haven't beaten nothing but stiffs so far. Still waiting to make an analysis after the g. Tech game and then will really know after the fsu game, where we are at. That team is still loaded with talent even though I loved them getting smashed. Us beating them will show the recruits, we're back.

Sean Spence is a Beast!!!

Standford is much like Mich St. They're just 2 disciplined football teams who consistently wins. Yes, they have less talent than most major programs but they are very well coached and they get their players to play inspired football.

Lur-ker

Really Stanford isnt that great either.

Posted by: The Dude | September 18, 2016 at 06:00 PM

They're not Bama great, but they're at the top of the rest. Their recorsince Harnsugh's 2nd year speaks for itself.

So, yes, they're pretty great. Especially west of the Mississippi.Way better than anyone on the west coast.

Lur-ker

*record since Harbaugh's 2nd year ...

Sean spence is a beast... Do I remember that handle from years ago, on the herald or sentinel blogs?

Dude on a Pale Horse

This years Stanford is the worst good west coast team in years.

Ohio_Cane

People are so fickle when it comes to team jerseys. I personally think there's nothing wrong with the current ones, even with the "wings", but I don't mind the change either.

Ranking is higher than I expected, but I'll take it. The lower that number is next to our name on TV, the better it is for recruiting purposes.

Great plan for a bye before GT, and also using it to make these 2 announcements to keep us in the media and tv before we get to curb stomp Paul Johnson and his HS offense.

Canes roll GT, 44-17

Sean Spence is a Beast!!!

1mg of Epi, yes you have, I used to post a lot on Manny's Eye on the U and of course here, been working a lot so I just enjoyed reading off from all the canespacers.

But they're still better than all the other puzzy ass teams on the west coast. It's a low bar.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Off week homework...

Check out 4* RB Anthony McFarland who has Miami in his top 3. He's only 5'8" but he's built and fast.

We'll see. They could lose to UW in two weeks.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Robert Burns should have a 4th star.

NicCane, We'll See. As Soon as We Got a Real Coach, I Know We're Ready. Just a Little Bit More, but if We Keep getting better, College Football is in Trouble.

Good stuff! That name always stood out to me for whatever reason

Dude on a Pale Horse

4* DE Aaron Sterling has decommitted from Bama and is checking out ACC schools. Sterling hails from Tucker, GA. At 6'1" 260, he's got the bulk to play right away. Reminds me a little of Melvin Ingram.

Sarasota 'cane

So you have to walk through a "sports bar" to get to the locker room in Minnesota? That's strange!! I hope Adrian is all right!!

Lur-ker

UW is a fraud. Stanford will handle. Not a Stanford fan, but the west coast is soft. They out tough everyone out there.

Dude on a Pale Horse

^^^ They used to, Harbaugh aint walking through that door though and they arent as physical as the used to be. UW will be a tough out I think. Petersen is the best coach in the Pac 12.

Polls are obviously important, but the teams must play and earn respect on the field. The Canes have a chance to control their destiny, but they need to take care of business one play, one game and one month at a time. The Canes just need to go out and earn the pollsters respect. The Canes were undefeated in September. If the Canes go undefeated in October, they will undeniably be in the conversation for ACC championship and CBF in November. The Canes fandom could not ask for more.

In case you missed it: Louisville is really, really good. The No. 10 Cardinals' 43-point win over No. 2 Florida State on Saturday eliminated any doubt about that, so Louisville is the new No. 1 in our ACC Power Rankings. As for the rest of the ACC ...

1. Louisville: Lamar Jackson is the real deal, as Florida State found out early and often. Fortunately for fans of college football, the nation will get to see Jackson duel with Deshaun Watson and Greg Ward later this season.

2. Clemson: Speaking of Watson, his Tigers finally looked the part in a 59-0 win over South Carolina State. That offensive rhythm will be important as they get ready for consecutive games at Georgia Tech and against Louisville.

3. Miami: If it weren’t for Jackson’s theatrics, the Hurricanes might have been the talk of the ACC this weekend after making quick work of a hungry Appalachian State team in a hostile environment. The Hurricanes get a bye this week before beginning a brutal six-game stretch that starts with a trip to Georgia Tech and ends with a game against Pitt.

T4. North Carolina: Mitch Trubisky looked really, really sharp once again, overcoming a wild first quarter and running away from James Madison 56-28. Fellow Coastal contender Pitt awaits next week.

T4. Florida State: If you’re FSU, you look at the standings and remind yourself that Saturday’s blowout still only counts for one in the loss column. With the way next week’s opponent, South Florida, has been scoring lately, the Seminoles don’t have time to feel sorry for themselves.

6. Georgia Tech: The Yellow Jackets were dominant in their 38-7 win over Vanderbilt, doing what they do offensively but also locking the Commodores up defensively. Thursday’s tilt with Clemson could get interesting.

Wow.

UMike

FSU is gonna look to blow them out

Go,GoCanes!

Have to say this. Watched the Suckeyes Saturday night.

They're the best team in the country imo.

Lost everyone last year and just reloaded. Meyer has built a freaking monster.

UMike

Got my GT tickets in the mail Saturday. I'm glad the bye week is before GT, especially with the youngsters at LB.

At the University of Miami, what’s old is new again — at least as far as the football team’s uniforms go.

The Hurricanes are expected to harken back to the days of the Orange Bowl when they unveil new uniforms Monday evening at a launch party at the Rathskeller on campus.

The uniforms are reportedly modeled after ones Miami wore back in the 1980s — like the ones current coach Mark Richt wore when he was a UM quarterback in the early part of that decade — a simple look Adidas gave a modernized style to with the Hurricanes’ current uniforms unveiled just last season.

Brody Logan, a reporter at the Fox affiliate in Washington, D.C., tweeted out leaks of the replica jerseys Miami and Adidas plan to offer on Saturday night.

Ive been told these are the new jerseys the Miami Hurricanes will be unveiling this week. Taking it back to the 80s pic.twitter.com/wCyPhmejfp
Brody Logan (@BrodyLogan) September 18, 2016

Miami wore the same style of uniform for four of its national championship seasons from 1983-91.

Miami’s simplistic look lasted through the 1990s when Nike began tinkering with it.

In 2000, Nike gave the Hurricanes a drastic redesign with a new font, logo, stripes and more green in the color scheme.

Adidas attempted a stylized-version last season and has been leaving hints at Miami’s new look over the past few weeks, with tweets referencing Miami’s past.

One tweet simply shows famous numbers — Ray Lewis, Bernie Kosar, Melvin Bratton, Vinny Testaverde, Michael Irvin — from the past on a green background with an orange stripe.

Lur-ker

That was kind of a dick move for that guy to tweet the look out before the unveiling. Killed whatever little suspense and anticipation there was. Everybody knows what they look like now.

If I were Adidas or the athletic department, I wouldn't be happy about it, but someone's to blame for that leak, and it had to come from either Adidas or the athletic dept.

I actually hope UW whoops stanfords butt. It's time for the originals to rise to the top of there conferences. Like Miami and UW. When those two programs are dominate, it's good for cfb.

UMike

Is our attacking/fast/downhill style of defense a liability against the triple option, or an asset?

thirstybuzzardcane

Asset! App State was a good warm up game for the GT option.

Lur-ker

Posted by: UMike | September 19, 2016 at 09:09 AM

What do you think?

UMike

Lurker, I honestly dont know. I think its great for the dive play, not sure about the outside stuff. We have shown great sideline to sideline speed so far though. I think JJ makes more than a few plays in this game. Just you always hear how you need to play "assignment football" against this option. I wonder if Diaz makes any adjustments or just lets our guys do their thing.

Dude on a Pale Horse

Its always an asset Mike. We just have to do it right.

CoCane

I know we won't blow everyone out. I hope Ga Tech won't be one of those games we struggle and have to pull out a close one.

I have paid attention to them and they have gotten better each week so far.

I think we'll be ready with the extra time to prepare. Plus, Richt is very familiar with them. So are our players.

I think we roll...

The "U" 49 - Ga Tech 13

UMike

Co... they certainly looked a lot better vs Vandy then in their opener against BC from the bits and pieces I have seen.

I do like that CMR is very familiar with them and the speed at the LB & DE spots will help. Im just so dam happy to see us playing with speed again on defense.

CoCane

Me too. Also, guys with minor injuries will get healthy during the bye and be ready to ball.

Posted by: WWIN | September 19, 2016 at 06:27 AM

I tried but he won't listen to me.

He just told me to shhhhhh...

Go,GoCanes!

We definitely can't just attack, attack, attack against this offense.

As I go down the line I would say half of our starters have zero or very limited exposure to them.

UMike

I think they will break a couple long ones due to our over aggression, but like Ive been saying all the plays for no gain and tackles for losses will kept them from scoring a lot imo.

Lur-ker

you need to play "assignment football" against this option. I wonder if Diaz makes any adjustments or just lets our guys do their thing.

Posted by: UMike | September 19, 2016 at 09:48 AM

You definetely need to play "assignment football" - just a handful of over aggressive mistakes can result in a handful of touchdowns. Not good.

Of course Diaz has to make adjustments. Good lord, every single school that plays Tech has to change it up their defense during Tech week because of their option. That really goes without saying almost,

UMike

Lurker, I agree. And like my above post says, they will get a few long plays on us. I just think we have to many TFL and plays for little to no gain that keep them from scoring much.

Lur-ker

We've been in the preseason so far.

Real season begins in Atlanta a week from Saturday. Big boy football coming up.

UMike

I agree. If we lay an egg we could drop out of the rankings and head into that brutal stretch on a bad note. Win this game and its a top 15 showdown, hopefully prime time, against FSU with a very confident team.

How many of you are going to Atlanta in two weeks? Sounds like a great trip. But enemy territory is enemy territory. SOUP will protect and guard all of you. Right SOUP?!! Miss seeing Mr. and Mrs. Soup!!!

UMike

ML... GT is probably the friendliest enemy territory there is and always tons of Miami fans. Me and my family will be there, including a couple of the little ones.

thirstybuzzardcane

FSU is favored by 7 against USF....I like FSU a lot.

Clemson is favored by 8 against GT.....I like Clemson.

Terrance Sullivan

What UMike Said GT is the best road game on the schedule it is a semi Neutral site game their are several thousand Canes Fans that will be at the Game in Atlanta Including Yours Truly.

UMike

The GT fans are quiet and friendly as well. Overall a great environment and atmosphere for a game. Not as loud and crazy as in Miami, but not stupid and obnoxious like Cainsville.

Lur-ker

Unlike AppState and their sh*t show and fans, GT acts like they've been there before. There are rarely any problems (if ever) that canes fans have had at GT. I mean it's Atlanta, there's always problems with traffic, and it's a big city with big city problems, but their fans are chill.

I know several Tech graduates and have worked with a few. Good people, and just a little friendly jawing.

UMike

Lurker..agree 100%. Good, chill fans. And the traffic getting out and back on 75 usually isnt tough at all. I have no issue bringing my young kids here. Really the only "negative" is the music on the "Canes Deck" haha

UMike

My first game in ATL 6 years ago or so I had an Atlanta cop throw u the U for me, a group of GT fans act like they were choking me so we could take some funny pics and GT fans offer food and drinks. The ONLY words I ever exchanged with anyone was with a young student who made a comment about the chain on my neck. This was during our scandal, but it lasted all of 10 seconds and was pretty funny...it went like this...

Him: where did you get that chain, was that an improper benefit?

Me: I got it from your mom...

Him: I dont understand, must be some improper benefit...

Me: dont worry, she understands.

That was it, we both smiled and I kept walking.

Lur-ker

Yeah I didn't mean necessarily traffic problems at the game, I was just saying in general. Atlanta is really bad during the work week when I've been there.

But yes, that's pretty much a no stress place for a canes fan. Unlike Gainesville, or trailerhassee, where you basically have to have a thick skin or you'll be throwing down every five minutes.

Lur-ker

"From your mom"

He should have laughed and stopped right there. lol

ABC or ESPN or ESPN-2 will televise Miami, Florida vs Georgia Tech on October 1st.

Oh, and one more thing. After Miami takes care of business against an improving Rambling Wreck team, I SEE-r Miami, Florida vs FSU being a nationally televised NIGHT game on either ABC or ESPN. huh

UMike

Ohio.. after I posted I immediately noticed that. To lazy to go delete it though lol

TheeMackJones

The pass-run option bubble screens have been working because the Canes have BLOCKING at the edge now. Also Coach Richt uses those plays in an uptempo office. Something which Golden and Coley FAILED to realize.

UMike

Good point Mack...definitely good blocking going on. The tempo helps, but I like the added fake of the hand-off as well. Having a coach that is reacting to the D as opposed to just calling the game like hes paying Xbox is a major difference.

Richts comments on the new uni's

"This is my first time with adidas," he said. "When I was at Georgia and Nike - it's always like two years in advance for jerseys where a look gets decided on. When I came in I couldn't come in and just say `This is what I want.' Production was already too far down the road, retail too far down the road. I didn't have a lot of say on anything that happens this year. Now next year, the year after this, I have a lot to say about that. I have a little say this year but not a lot. Even if I wanted to change this, that or the other we wouldn't be able to do it."

^^^ It certainly sounds like he's not happy with them, doesn't it? Maybe he's just giving himself an out in case the fans don't like it lol
