Happy Thanksgiving to ALL!

Let's Go CANES!

SOUP

Thanksgiving Day is a national holiday celebrated in Canada and the United States. It was originally celebrated as a day of giving thanks for the blessing of the harvest and of the preceding year. Thanksgiving is celebrated on the second Monday of October in Canada and on the fourth Thursday of November in the United States. Several other places around the world observe similar celebrations. Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated in a secular manner as well.

Thanksgiving proclamations were made mostly by church leaders in New England up until 1682, and then by both state and church leaders until after the American Revolution. During the revolutionary period, political influences affected the issuance of Thanksgiving proclamations. Various proclamations were made by royal governors, John Hancock, General George Washington, and the Continental Congress,[16] each giving thanks to God for events favorable to their causes.[17] As President of the United States, George Washington proclaimed the first nationwide thanksgiving celebration in America marking November 26, 1789, "as a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many and signal favours of Almighty God".[18]

In modern times the President of the United States, in addition to issuing a proclamation, will "pardon" a turkey, which spares the bird's life and ensures that it will spend the duration of its life roaming freely on farmland.[19]

Thanksgiving, currently celebrated on the fourth Thursday in November by federal legislation in 1941, has been an annual tradition in the United States by presidential proclamation since 1863 and by state legislation since the Founding Fathers of the United States. Historically, Thanksgiving has traditionally been a celebration of the blessings of the year, including the harvest.[40] What Americans call the "Holiday Season" generally begins with Thanksgiving.[41]

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Happy Thanksgiving to all, have a great weekend.

It's a great day in central florida. Happy Thanksgiving and look forward to seeing some of you this Saturday.

May all your Thanksgivings be merry and bright

Happy thanksgiving 🦃 Canes!

BigWindyCane1

I will be interested in seeing how the men's basketball team comes together. Coach L always finds a way to develop the team and maximizes their potential. I am interested to see how he makes it work with this group of players

BigWindyCane1

Interesting that Stanford is undefeated but the Canes are favored by -6.

SOUP

Go Canes, Beat Stanford!

Sarasota 'cane

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Go 'canes!

Herbieibis

Happy thanksgiving! Now back to the hallmark channel.

BEERicane

Canes BBall looks lost.

BigWindyCane1

Canes are struggling on the offensive end. Can't seem to get good ball movement, players seem unfamiliar with each other and Newton is good at getting his shot, but not setting up others. It will be interesting to see how Coach L addresses and fixes these offensive struggles

BigWindyCane1

Canes were down by 8, then Coach L goes small and Canes made a run to tie the game. Better ball movement and shots

nemo2002

Canes are looking good!

BigWindyCane1

Canes looked great down the stretch. Great adjustments made at halftime. Canes should be a top 25 team soon

BEERicane

Big game tomorrow vs IA St. Should be a very good early season measuring stick.

CaneRock

Good win. But like another poster said, we don't have a true PG...looks like we'll be doing PG/ball-handler by committee.

ML alumni 1970

I missed the darn game. What was the final score?????
Hope all of you had a meaningful Turkey Day.
I had grilled salmon with butter, dill and lemon on the grill, with fresh asparagas. Turkey etc. was such a hugh undertaking for just me and my lifetime partner, Richard.

CaneRock

ML Alumni 1970...UM won 67-53, finished the game on an 18-4 run.

Play the winner of Iowa St. vs Indiana St. tomorrow at 11:00 AM.

Uhhhhhhh.... the Iowa St Indiana St game took place BEFORE the Miami game. That's gotta be embarrassing

Thanks CaneRock for the score. Maybe we will be pretty good this year.

Herman going to LSU.

Happy thanksgiving y'all

Sarasota 'cane

Noe there's a report that Herman may be "playing" LSU to get UT to make their best offer! That would keep Jimbo and Fedora in play.

The Dude

Texas job > LSU job.

Go Canes!

FSU job > LSU job.

Miami Job > All Jobs, MFers!!!!

We will see Herman in 2018. That'll be interesting.

BigWindyCane1

Redshirt junior guard Rashad Muhammad has been dismissed from the Miami Hurricanes men’s basketball team.

Go Canes!

Man, remember when Kevin Sumlin was a hot name in coaching?

He may go from in the four team playoff to fired in the span of a month and a half.

His fatal mistake would giving A&M a taste of something they are not.

BigWindyCane1

Hurricanes men basketball team play #21 Iowa State at 11am today on ESPN2. A chance to show us how good this Canes team is at this early stage of the season

CaneRock

Herman to LSU is a helluva consolation prize if Jimbo was their 1st choice.

And if a CFB team is looking for a short term fix at HC, I'd hire Orgeron. Although He's had some self inflicted trouble in His life, the guy has a unique personality.

Go Canes!

I think that was his people sending a message to Texas to get off their butts and make a decision.

If he has any shot at the Longhorns job, which it looks like he will, he'd be crazy to take LSU over the Texas gig.

And i agree CR, Orgeron has had his issues, but the dude can coach.

The Dude

I know they'd never hire him, but I think Orgeron could kill it at Texas.

The Dude

He has a huge personality that is fun and would recruit his butt off. He could bring in expensive coordinators and at Texas he has a little room to breath. Plus he's great with boosters, a big deal at Texas.

BigWindyCane1

Canes down by 6 at the half against Iowa State. Iowa State is very good, and the Canes seem to still have problems learning how to play with each other. They are still trying to gel, and the chemistry is still developing. It will be interesting to see if the Canes can pull together and beat a very good Iowa State team

The Dude

The problem with the LSU job is that they are expecting someone to knock Saban of his perch. I wouldnt want to be the new guy coming in, trying to knock CF's greatest coach off the mountain who by the way has a 10 year head start. The LSU job is a no win situation.

The Dude

Mrs. Brady is dead.

orange 'n green in the vein

If UM doesn't win this game in the post in the 2nd half they have no chance.

Anthony Lawrence going off in the 2nd half for the second day in a row wouldn't hurt now that he got his customary two quick fouls out of the way.

Try and get out and run and win some individual defensive match-ups and everything will be fine . . .

orange 'n green in the vein

They did zero of those things.

Blown out.

Not very good is how good they are.

Terrance Sullivan

Ugh! On to the next Game. Go Canes!

ML alumni 1970

What a horrible game. Didn't know Iowa St. was so good, or maybe Miami is so bad. I guess I am a broken record,
LONGING FOR THE OLD DAYS.
I AM TOO OLD TO WAIT 5 YEARS OR SO.!!!!

CaneRock

Team played like it had too much turkey last night...that itis...lethargic.

BigWindyCane1

I love my Canes men's basketball team, but they have a very tough time getting into a offensive flow and scoring. They need better ball movement and more assists. They still are struggling to consistently get high percentage shots. Coach L will get this corrected and the team will improve

BigWindyCane1

I fully agree with Coach Diaz's take on Pinckney:

"Every game he flashes,” defensive coordinator Manny Diaz said of Pinckney. “Every game he makes a play that is sort of outside the structure of what a normal linebacker should do, a `wow' type play. He's learning the consistency of being an every down WILL linebacker. He’s a guy that plays fast, and it's hard for freshmen a lot of times to play fast.”...

For those who were not impressed with the Canes road victory at NC State last week, just look at the halftime score where NC State is winning at UNC 21-7

CaneRock

Gruden reportedly in the mix for Texas job.

Porter has some good stuff:

Graduating safety Rayshawn Jenkins is bullish on the future of the Hurricanes.

“In my opinion, everyone [needs to] keep doing what they’re doing,” he said. “This is the best I’ve seen it since I’ve been here. I feel like if everyone keeps on the same path, they can do whatever they want. They can compete for national championships, ACC championships and just get this place back to where it used to be.”

How long might it take for Miami to realistically be there? Coach Mark Richt, in his talks with reporters this week, wanted to keep his focus on a senior-day Saturday game against Duke (3:30 p.m. ESPN2). But he answered several questions pertaining to the years ahead.

“My guess is it would take a couple [recruiting classes] to get the depth you’re hoping for and you’re looking for,” he said. “We are, for the first time in a while, able to go to 85 scholarships – that in itself is going to help us.” But even if Miami had 85 scholarship players — it currently has 76, and of those, 13 are injured, redshirting or ineligible.

“When people talk about depth, you’re talking about guys that you think are able to play and are ready to play,” Richt said. “If everybody has 85 [scholarships], you have depth. You have people there. But do you feel comfortable putting them in a game, is what most coaches are talking about when they say, ‘We lack the depth that we need.’

BigWindyCane1

NC State beats UNC. VaTech going to ACC championship game. If the Canes win tomorrow as expected, they can finish the season as one of the hottest teams in the ACC right now

The Dude

Houston lost again, this time to Memphis. It makes me wonder if Herman is losing some of that shine.

Sarasota 'cane

I have an extra ticket to the game. $24, end zone opposite the student end zone. I'll be at the stadium around 11-12. Hit me up if you want it.

TonyCane

Players crying on the UT sideline right now. Literally.

We need to CRUSH Duke tomorrow. Send 'em home in body bags!

Can see Hard Rock from the Hampton Inn in Miramar. Its been two years and its finnaly time to see'em run through the smoke.

Iowa - 2 wins in past 2 weeks vs top 25. Miami 0 all year. Thanks Brad!

That said, I want to see at least one ridiculous kickoff return with numerous laterals for a touchdown by Miami.

No way THAT'S gonna happen.

The Dude

Cant help but feel for Charlie Strong, but thats the business. Win or go home.

BigWindyCane1

I would like to see the Canes win "convincingly" once again for the fourth straight week and finish the season strong. That should garner some top 25 votes and create more momentum in recruiting to help CMR continue to rebuild the program
