Lingard is recruiting for us. looks like we got us a 5⭐️ Ambassador for 18.

BEERicane

The NC-ND stretch will most likely be the determinant of a good vs great season.

VfB_Cane

If we ever hope to get that FSU monkey off our back, the early season game would be a great time do get it done. It woukd give us a chance to stay undefeated in ACC play until late October and one single loss in that final stretch wouldn't kill our chances to win the Coastal.

Unless the 12% bus crew is right for once and we go undefated, of course.

Herbieibis

With a new qb and having to play their that monkey is now more like Magilla Gorilla. I definetly see us busting that as in 18.

BigWindyCane1

Promoting Coach Kul was smart. A great defense, and especially a great defensive line, can carry a team pretty far. If the front seven is as good as we think they can be, the Canes will compete for a title in the ACC.

VfB_Cane

LOL @ The Magilla Gorilla.

FSU loses two thirds of their rushing offense and 40% of their receiving yards with Cook & Rudolph going pro. It's going to take them a few games to find their identity on offense.

Assuming that we have closed the talent gap somewhat and seeing that we played them close the past years (regardless of where the game was played), I think we have a chance to shock them. QB might be an issue, but it's not like their QB is a seasoned veteran.

VA Cane

I liked the highlights on Lingard, looks good. I do not count my chickens, but if things work out ok, we win more....he will be a nice get. I think things are looking up folks.....it does not happen overnight...but we are going places.

I still want NoDPa as a part of our program....he can help....somewhere? Tell them CGNCPa!!!!

It really is amazing how the D improved in 1 season....all the things we raised hell about were addressed....and will get better!!!!

Go Canes!

Former @CanesFootball QB and @DB_BucksFB Alum Derrick Crudup will take over as the O.C. for the Bucks this season! @PeterAriz @ErickMarreroU

Terrance Sullivan

The Offense got better as well. We averaged scoring roughly 9 more points per game in 2016 than 2015.

VA Cane

TSully we did not have a bad year at all. All things considered, I was pleased. could we have won a couple more? Yes. Could we have improved more? Yes.
With CMR coming in on the fly, having to recruit and get coaches.....I think we got off to a good start for this staff. It will get better quickly; I loved the improvements....especially the attitudes!!!!

I am pumped for the ND game.....I am counting the days!!!!!

BigWindyCane1

VaCane. I agree. The Canes finished the season 5-0, with quality wins against Pitt, Virginia, NC State, Duke and West Virginia, by an average score of 38 to 18. That was one of the strongest finishes in college football last season and one of the best by a Canes team in well over a decade. The 2016 Canes team that finished the season could beat most teams in the top 25 IMO.

VA Cane

I think so Windy....we stumbled in the middle run...a tough run...and could have folded. I think the players, staff, administration and CMR all took it in stride and focused on winning. No we did not go 11-3....but we could have folded after the gauntlet....we have folded a lot since 2003....but everybody...even us fans...kept believing.
We will have issues to address this year....but I think we have the ability to do so. This is about growth. We have been down for a long time...I say since 2003...12 years....so you have to grow. We grew a lot this year....and I am feeling good about 2017!!!! Play the kids!!!!

Unless the 12% bus crew is right for once and we go undefated, of course.

He'll have to greyshirt then. Arkansas is SEC territory, where such things are part of the deal.

Hassan

How good is our offense going to be in 2 years? Keep in mind coaches improve too. Richt has an entire year to look at the ACC what works what does not, to hone in his play calling and study others. He also has an entire year of film of his own players.

Great thought Hassan; well put. We always think of how our guys get better but a coach can always improve. I remember when I started at 19, I knew a little but heck I was just excited to win, be over .500. That was 39 years ago. I have learned so much about the game...and people...and now I love to win, but I have learned to coach develop make my guys see the big picture of life...and I can see it too. From learning over time, we have gotten to where we will compete for titles..and success in life as well.

I think we are reaching a point where we can start to feel that we are back; we still have work to do, but its looking good to me!

^^^ Smh. No excuse for him, but I'm sure old Jerry f*cked his head all up.

VA Cane

I saw that GC...just read an article. I also read that insurance investigations into PSU have revealed that 6 other coaches may have witnessed sex crimes. I feel for the players...they are not to blame...but that school, administration, former coaches if involved by not reporting these horrible crimes.....should have gotten the Death Penalty!!!!
For sure!!

Funny, nobody has asked the questions:

"Why Kool and NOT Manny Diaz?"

"How does that dynamic play out?"

Go Canes!

If I had to guess someone came calling for Coach K, which earned him a pay raise and promotion.

VfB_Cane

Posted by: 86Cane | February 13, 2017 at 05:13 PM

Easy: After the Texas fiasco and just one year at the U, everybody's in a wait and see mode when it comes to offering a head coaching position to Manny Diaz.
Whereas it's very likely that someone might have tried to see whether Kool says no to a coordinator job elesewhere.

If Manny Diaz has two more years that match this year's success, we'll have a hard time keeping him in Coral Gables, especially if CMR doesn't show any signs he's considering retirement in the near future.

Nothing against Diaz, but why didn't we hire Kuligowski as the DC in the 1st place?...didn't He leave Mizzou because they wouldn't promote Him to DC?

Behind the scenes I bet it all makes a bunch of sense. As far as Manny goes, its still his D, he's still in charge in that regard. I am 100% confident that those 2 are totally good.

The Dude

^^^ In a couple more years, Manny is gonna be getting a bunch of looks. Kool will get a ton of say in who the next DC will be. Its actually a great job to have.

thirstybuzzardcane

I think its our players that make this defensive scheme look great! If Golden used the same scheme, he would still be coaching today.
