Lol.

I like that top ten list. Lots to look forward to next season. I think this Hurricanes defense will be stout and very vey nasty!

Miami’s offense scored a season-high 10 runs, junior Carl Chester had a career night at the plate, and the Hurricanes topped No. 23 Georgia Tech in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener, 10-8, at Mark Light Field Friday night.

The win snapped a three-game losing streak for Miami, wearing special pink-tinted uniforms in the team’s annual breast cancer awareness game.

Freshman Albert Maury, Jr. picked up his first career win with 2.2 scoreless innings of relief.

Chester recorded the first four-hit game as a Hurricane in a 4-for-4, two-double, three-run performance, raising his batting average to a team-best .319.

Miami’s 10 hits were also a season high.

“I think hitting was just contagious tonight,” Chester said. “From inning one, we were swinging the bat and putting the ball in play, which is something we’ve been struggling with all year. We really opened it up tonight.”

Georgia Tech loaded the bases in the ninth and plated a run, but sophomore Frankie Bartow finished off his third save of the year by retiring Chase Murray on a lineout to end the game.

“It’s a big win for us, needless to say,” head coach Jim Morris said. “We’ve been battling and our guys are working hard and playing hard. They haven’t been getting a lot of breaks.”

Real Madrid to play Barca at Hard Rock on July 29th. I swear, if you are a sports fan with the ability to see El Classico in Miami... Messi, Ronaldo, Neymar... this is one of the must see sporting events of your life.

HawaiiCane

Definitely agree Dude! Just be careful with expectations as normally it's a match involving reserves and the B team. I don't think Messi has made the trip the last two years, but Ronaldo has. I know last year was Copa but even the year prior.

PS - I still wish I was there last year in LA we had Chelsea vs. Liverpool and the year prior was Barca vs. LA Galaxy. In a month I'm going to an Ajax match in Amsterdam on my birthday!

HawaiiCane

My typing was bad... ugh. I wish I was in Miami for that. I went to the two matches in LA.

Dude (Operating Insomniac Level 8)

I think there's a great chance to see 1 of those 3, maybe all, even if it is a friendly. I saw Ronaldo in 2011 in San Diego. Im hoping the rumors about Juve touring America is true.

Dude (Operating Insomniac Level 8)

And think of the elite dudes that arent those 3, Bale, James, Iniesta, Ramos, Pique, Suarez, Benzema, Isco etc. All terrific.

HawaiiCane

Totally agree! I was as excited to see Suarez being an Ajax fan! If Juve tours America, that would be incredible. Where did you hear that?

When it comes to that, every sport is like math. If you don't get it, it's boring as hell; once you do, it becomes very exciting.

The one exception is cricket, which was invented to bore people to death.

"Of all the races in the Galaxy, only the English could possibly revive the memory of the most horrific wars ever to sunder the Universe and transform it into into what I'm afraid is generally regarded as an incomprehensibly dull and pointless game."

Go Canes!

Soccer?

Smh....

VfB_Cane

Remember: Soccer is "football" in its real sense, wheras football is actually "handegg". LOL

Xavier Williams or Mark Pope?

Posted by: CoCane | March 11, 2017 at 11:41 AM

Both!

BigWindyCane1

Xavier Williams is definitely a top WR prospect. XW makes it look easy. Very polished. XW can be dominant catching the ball in traffic, but he is committed to the Tide. Pope is very good at catching in traffic, and Pope is also elusive. Pope hasn't reached his ceiling yet. I hope the Canes get Pope, and actually I would love both.

Soccer suffers from a lack of scoring, too many fake dives, totally inaccurate passing, too much time in the midfield and not even near either goal, too many players dying from injury one minute and running full speed the next and boorish fans who take their so called sport and each other way too seriously.

Any impartial observer can see that.

No. Soccer suffers from a lack of not being soccer.

Just depends on the game. In soccer, you have to appriciate the drive and defense.

Go Canes!

Soccer is boring AF.

That is all.

I have been hearing very positive things about CMR and his staff for over a year now. This staff doesn't try to sell recruits with smoke and mirrors. They are expressing interest in recruits and in their development, and they are showing recruits they know what they are doing. They are showing recruits how they can develop them as players and as productive citizens. CMR's staff have really connected with recruits and their families in a real and unique way!

Most negative news out of the U athletic program at the moment could be the state of the baseball program. Losing series not only to FU, but to FIU and Dartmouth, losing in extra innings last night to Ga Tech, well below .500 at this point of the season for the first time in years, and we have the question of whether the streak of most consecutive post-season appearances could be in jeopardy. This streak is possibly as or more amazing then the football team's 58 home winning streak, at 44 years now, a couple years ahead of the #2 streak, FSU. Morris had better find a way to get some scoring, and soon, as there's no way he wants to be known for being the first coach in forever to not only miss the post-season, but even miss finishing over .500.

Happy Sunday all. Looking forward to finding where the Coach L's boys open up and with what seed. Hope they can still find a way to be a #7 to up the chance of getting out of the first weekend rather than being an 8 or 9 and having a game 2 vs. a #1 seed, assuming they win game 1. I have no delusions of this team going beyond a 3rd game, if fate hands us this much progress in the tnmt, but that's why the games get played.

BEERicane

Yup, couldnt hit water from a boat. Also, what the hell is up with Mediavilla? He's terrible this year.

Old Skool

Canes enter the dance as a number 8 seed. Mich State up first

jcane

In the midwest with kansas as the 1 seed. Interesting in the east with 3 acc teams, and va tech as a 9 seed given the u finishing behind them and getting an 8. Acc teams are all over the tnmt.

In spite of mediavilla, there have been a whole lot of low scoring shutout losses already.

BigWindyCane1

The Canes can beat Michigan State. The Canes also could shock Kansas

The should beat MSU. They will get trounced by Kansas.

Soccer is nothing more than glorified kickball. However The Herb did coach 13 years worth of rec. soccer. The baseball team, unless they start hitting won't be going any where but that's what happens when u rely to much on jucco's, instead of bringing in and letting freshmen play. If I'm going down I'm playing greenhorns.
