A performance only a Fake Lames check depositor could even possibly try to love.

Izundu, Murphy, Reed, Brown, Newton is the best five. Get the ball to Izundu on the block and spot up off of that when the opponent doubles down on him.

Huell, Lawrence and the recruiting blunder from down under can play zone to hide the midget as bench replacements and maybe you get the miracle to survive to the second weekend if the #1 or #2 seed gets caught napping in the second round.

Brown needs at least another year to develop a reliable crossover pull-up jumper because he can't get to the lane against better competition unless they're missing their answer to sic on him defensively and they're forced to miss-match him dribbling the rock.

NO would be stupid to trade Cooks for Butler. All NE's gonna do is snatch up Revis off the FA market.

BEERicane

Canes are in the tournament. No matter how you slice it, this years squad overachieved and should be proud of their season.

Herbieibis

I don't care about individual analysis of what you see from your area players and what u think he is, the camps and 7 on 7's are where they are evaded. I want stars and if u get enough of them, the ones that fail won't matter because for every one that doesn't pan out we have 2 to replace him. How do u think Bama stays on top? They probably have at least 60 players that are at least 4 star and above. Now how many do we have? We need about 35 on our 85 man roster to start with and we don't. I'm talking a legit 35 or consensus. If Richt can haul in this 2018 class, we will be ripe.

CoCane

A little debate material...

Who will have the higher ranking next pre season? The"U" football or hoops team?

Go Canes!

Posted by: CoCane | March 09, 2017 at 08:20 PM

Football.

Imo even a three loss football team ends up ranked in the Top 20.

Way too many Gonzagas and the likes in basketball. Hard to finish Top 15-20 or so.

Lol when our Offensive Line do it's job and if they do their job for the whole season and not for 2/3 of the season we will dominate. Period point blank.

Posted by: Terrance Sullivan | March 09, 2017 at 12:03 PM

Yup!! I'll never understand why those O linemen kept calling those inside runs and ignored the middle of the field when they called passes. They need to get their shat together.

RIP my friend Johnny Duncan.

Johnny Duncan sounds like a brand of Irish whisky. Sorry for your loss sir.

CoCane

Go Canes,

I said PRE SEASON rankings

86Cane

Johnny Duncan was a friend of mine, a talented musician and a good man. He died way too soon. But as is the case in life, we do not determine that. He defied death many times, basically as we all do when growing up. Silly chances, dangerous choices, crazy risks, no fear. Johnny was a man of character, talent and joy.

May he Rest In Peace.

I'll say Canes football. Why? The idea of Miami football being close to back seems to be permiating around college football. Call me crazy, but we've been gone so long, I think some people like the idea of us being back. Plus there is a bunch of momentum in around the football team where it seems like all of the news is positive. The Miami football name is a proven commodity when done right, much better known than the scrappy bball team. As for basketball, in the ACC the spotlight is always on Tobacco Road and Syracuse, not Coral Gables.

One program can change that and what not by winning their next six games in a row--

CoCane

It will be close. The hoops team will be coming off of a 2nd strait tourny bid and bringing in a 2nd strait top 10 recruiting class...

TruCane81

All we need is Jacory Harris' Senior year. Just solid play and we win the Coastal & 10 games.

They still sleep on the Jedd Fisch version of J Skinny.

We get that kind of production at Qb and 1500 from Walton we will probably be in the playoffs.

The spotlight will be on Searles' ability to get quality play in pass protection.

We will run well against 7 man fronts. Will need good awareness to pick up blitzes when audibling out of the run against stacked boxes.

We will be blitzed often. We showed poorly on tape in 2016 and Searles will be tested.

Hope we can get better pass protection numbers than they earned at vt when he was there.

Dude (Operating Insomniac Level 8)

Level up.

Preseason rankings for football and basketball will be close, but football will be ranked higher. The football team might be a legitimate playoff contender if they can win the games they should win. FSU is the only game on their schedule that they will be underdogs, and they have a defense that gives them a chance. QB battle is key, and a more mobile QB should help the running game.

CoCane

I hear you Windy.

I still can't sleep on the hoops team. The hoops team will have more talent and depth top to bottom. The football team has more equity and prestige as a program. I think it is a crap shoot...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Jacksonville State men's basketball team earned its first Ohio Valley Conference Championship title, and punched its ticket to the NCAA Tournament, on Saturday with a 66-55 win over UT Martin at Nashville's Municipal Auditorium.

Junior Malcolm Drumwright was named Tournament MVP and received All-Tournament honors, and senior Greg Tucker was named All-Tournament. Drumwright totaled 13 points, Tucker contributed 14 and senior Erik Durham knocked down a team-best 17.

Chosen to finish 12th in the OVC preseason poll, first-year head coach Ray Harper led the Gamecocks to a 10.5-game improvement upon last season's 8-23 overall finish. It is just the second 20-win season in Jacksonville State's Division I history, and marks the first time the program will compete in the NCAA Tournament.

DUNK CITY, Fla. – For the second-straight season and third time in five years, the FGCU men's basketball team (26-7) is heading to the NCAA Tournament as the top-seeded Eagles dominated the 2nd half en route to a 77-61 ASUN Championship win over 3rd-seeded North Florida (15-19) in front of a program-record 4,711 fans at Alico Arena Sunday.

Led by a game-high 19 points from ASUN Tournament MVP Brandon Goodwin and five total players in double figures, the Eagles became the first league member to repeat since Belmont in 2011-12 and matched the program's Division-I single-season wins record with 26.

Trailing at the half, 39-33, FGCU – behind Goodwin, who scored 14 in the 2nd half – controlled the final 20 minutes as the Eagles doubled-up the Ospreys, 44-22, and limited one of the best offenses and individual scorers in the country while putting on their patented Dunk City display.

FGCU – which has won three NCAA Tournament games in the last four years – will learn its opponent and site location when the Selection Show airs live on CBS next Sunday, Mar. 12, beginning at 6 p.m. FGCU will be hosting a viewing party at Alico Arena, and the public is invited to attend. Additional information will be announced in the coming week, along with initial ticket items.

This team made it this far, MUCH more than expected, with smoke and mirrors. They have no true point guard, no real big man in the paint, some spotty 3 point shooters, a short bench and injuries. They DO have a great coach and some awesome Sunsation cheerleaders, but that's about it.

Coach L did more with less this year. Wait until next...WE COMING!

I haven't seen this kind of momentum in recruiting in a long time. Nearly every local HS football recruit I would like to have is interested in Miami. I am not sure if there will be enough room to accommodate them all. In addition, some national recruits are also interested.

CMR and his staff really have this recruiting train rolling along with a lot of momentum. The Canes should also have a good year on the football field. If they do, the Canes will be back.

Now IF you could just replace the words "should" with will and "if" with when, then we may have something there.
