Hey Soup, gereat blog in hard times; I love the REO reminder.
Tomorrow, Septemmber 13, will be the third anniversary of Gary Richrath's death. He wrote, played lead guitar and sang the lead vocals on Riding The Storm Out. RIP - great Rock'n'Rollers will never be forgotten!

Go Canes!

The reality of s long haul without power has officially set in.

This is gonna suck.

Old Skool

Woohoo. Power again last night. Only 30 hours in the dark. Guess I'm one of the lucky ones.

SOUP

Vfb...thank you. I was a big REO fan back in the day. Their older, classic rock stuff is great.

Skool...glad you got your power back.

Go Canes...my brothers in Kendall share your pain.

#UPDATE: East Coast - estimated power restoration by end of weekend, possible exception in areas hit by tornadoes, flooding & severe damage.

SOUP

FPL just said East Coast should have power back by this weekend (5 days) and West Coast within 10 days. I spoke to Kenny in Fort Myers and he is fine, some screen damage and tree damage but no structural issues. He has power already. No word from Bill in the the Keys. I have called and texted and no reply. I am assuming his phone is dead?

Terrance Sullivan

Appreciate the updates Soup!

Nice to see our boys do well....Chick, long hair and all, hustled to make a big play in the Steeler game recovered blocked punt for TD!
Chick has done well...

Chickillo, who started in place of Dupree on the left side, had a great game from a statistical standpoint as the former sixth-round draft pick out of Miami registered two sacks and six total tackles against the Browns. If that’s not enough, Chickillo also scored the Steelers first points of the game thanks to him recovering a blocked punt in the end zone early in the first quarter.

TEAM STATUS UPDATE
by Peter Ariz
Published on 09-12-2017 11:42 AM 46

We know that the FSU game has been moved to October 7th and Georgia Tech to October 14th.

As I reported last week, the school sent a group of about 30 players up to Orlando to stay for the storm. They are still up there and the players have been told that they will not go back to Miami until campus is cleared for classes to resume. Right now, school admin is saying campus will open next Monday at the earliest with a chance that it takes even longer than that.

The football admin and coaches have a plan in place right now to get the remainder of the team to Orlando in case they need to practice up there for Toledo week.

BigWindyCane1

Palm Beach Central 2019 three-star defensive tackle Renato Brown has given a verbal pledge to Miami. 6'5", 310 lbs. Another big athletic, local defensive lineman recruited by Coach Kul. Just in two short years, That problem the Canes used to have recruiting and developing DLs, especially DTs, seemed to have been FULLY and COMPLETELY remedied by Coach Kul!

SOUP

6'5", 310 in HS? I don't recall that in 1980?

SOUP

But did you try that gentleman's club he frequents?

The club was damaged by the storm and closed.

I called there FIRST.

Yall aint know?

Tony, that was that new technique where you use your belly to block the offensive lineman and then let him push you five yards off the line.

Dno learned it at the annual camp Hellen Keller U.

UMike

I forget what game I was watching, but the commentator was talking about the defense and said "if you notice they do not line up close to the ball, they sit back and play read and react defense..." I started having flashbacks lol

I was saying that on here when I was watching that GT game. I was dumb founded they were lining up the way the did. They never changed anything either. GT was getting a 4 yard push every time.

thirstybuzzardcane

Tennessee's defense was ranked 95th and 124th the past 2 years. OUCH!!! Sounds like the D Cordinator is a little strong headed.

thirstybuzzardcane

👆👆👆 Tennessee's DC is in his 3rd year.

Go Canes!

Tennessee's coach is a dead man walking.

The Gators, the worst offense you'll ever see is an 8 point favorite over them.

That's what they think about the Vols.

Hope that kid from the west coast who bailed late is happy. They moved him to WR after he got there and may not have a catch yet this season.

Go Canes!

P.S. Still now power at home, just got it back at work.

TonyCane

UMike, I can picture the flashbacks:

1) Forcefeeding Chilkillo in an effort to bulk him up to 399 lbs
2) Prevent defenses in goal line situations
3) Clemson players laughing
4) 4th and 2, and corners lined 15 yards off the line of scrimmage

TonyCane

There are some funny posts on that Twitter feed, such as mockingly protesting, "But we have 5 star hearts!"

CGNC

Hello party people! Had a large section of fence come down (which we propped up), a torn light fixture and no power for 3 days but it is on now. Even found gas last night with NO line. Imagine!

Good to hear from so many that you are ok. That storm was no joke and took forever. Marathon south looks to be a mess. I can't believe some people did not evacuate. I don't know who Bill is but I hope he and his family are safe.

Glad everyone is okay. Good to hear CGNC. Love you all. Go Canes!

No, this time ESPN will lead the charge. They will demand that we change our "insensitive, cruel and politically incorrect" name to the Miami Seagulls or get the death penalty.

TonyCane

In 1992 this issue came up. The idea of changing the name "Hurricanes" was put to a vote at the school.

It's been 25 years since Hurricane Andrew. Time flies. Canes had a great regular season and Gino Torretta won the Heisman trophy. But the Hurricanes did play for the national championship in the Sugar Bowl against Alabama and Gene Stallings. 😩 I had to endure some taunting from anti-Hurricanes fans, but it was still a good way for that Hurricanes team to bounce back from the most devastating Hurricane in South Florida history.

Mike Farrell | Rivals.com
Mark Pszonak contributed to this report…

The NCAA recently released an interesting list of players on NFL opening weekend rosters by college. This week we’ll take a look at which teams in the Power Five conferences produce the most pros and we continue with the ACC.

ACTIVE NFL PLAYERS PER TEAM: Big Ten | SEC

1. MIAMI - 44

The skinny: The flood of ex-Canes making their way into the NFL has definitely slowed down from a decade ago, but the numbers are still there. Greg Olsen is still one of the top tight ends in the game and Olivier Vernon is quickly gaining more and more respect with the New York Giants. While there are less young difference-makers in the league than the Canes would probably like, veterans like Jimmy Graham, Frank Gore and Calais Campbell continue to produce. Will younger players like Allen Hurns, Anthony Chickillo, Artie Burns and David Njoku develop into stars down the road?

Farrell’s take: How about this, The U still leads the way in the ACC despite the program's lack of recent success. That surprises me. Despite struggling on the field, Miami keeps churning out first-rounders and successful NFL players. It may not be at the same level as it was, but it’s still impressive. And the way Mark Richt is recruiting, it should continue and perhaps improve.

thirstybuzzardcane

Good stuff Windy!

It's great to hear everyone made it thru Irma basically alright. My Fam lost fences, power (for some), and some trees...nothing major, nothing important. Still praying for those in The Keys. Daughter got an unexpected week off from school!

1 1/2 weeks to prep for Toledo...think we'll be ok.

NativeCane

Back on t h e grid!

Big thanks to all those lineman from all over the US that work 18-20 hrs. Straight sleep in their trucks then get up and do it again.

NativeCane

TBC I'm worried about the Canes not being ready too but I gotta trust Mark.

I don't want to lose 8 in a row to the Noles but I also have to balance my desire for a win against all the suffering that's going on in South Florida right now.

Just checking in and letting everyone know I made it. I am at work for first time and so finally have internet access.....

I still have no power at home but at least there was no damage so I am grateful.

After all said and done, I will be blasting the following -

Spectrum - For not being able to provide a status even 4 days later as to when we may have internet back up. Shitty customer servive

The Mayor of Deltona - he was no where to be see during this major storm.

Duke Energy - and not the hard working men and women fixing to restore our power. I am talking about corporate. I heard a story that Duke is "way behind" in hardening their systems. Also, if you do some tree trimming through out the year, half of your issues would be resolved.....

Errrr.......can you tell I am little cranky"

Oh, and one more thing. I believe that one of Clint's better movies was ' Play Misty for Me. ' Then theirs Million Dollar Baby and Unforgiven. Even the Bridges of Madison County and True Crimes and In the Line of Fire and naturally, Kelly's Heroes, were great Clint flicks. hUh

Nevertheless, I'll leave the westerns and violent flicks to y'all manly men. Ha. Ha. Ha.

Yes that what I meant, the team should be practicing. Irma has left most without power but so what Hurricane Andrew was the Deebo of Hurricanes and the CANEZ was back practicing a week later hence why we played UCLA later in the year. At this rate we'll be playing game 2 in week 5

BigWindyCane1

Clint Eastwood movies are great. My wife loved Bridges of Madison County, although it doesn't make my list of favorites. But when it's on, I watch it with her - you know how it goes🤣.

My all-time favorite is Unforgiven, hands down. I also like Pale Rider, the Good, the Bad and the Ugly, the Outlaw Josie Whales, and Hang 'em High. Dirty Harry was good. American Sniper, Heartbreak Ridge, Million Dollar Baby, In the Line of Fire, Mystic River and True Crimes were also very good.

Unforgiven is one of the GOAT.
