Go Canes!

We shouldn't lose one this season.

1mg Of epi

Go, u are right. We should not. Interesting stats u posted re: snaps taken by starters. Not a big believer in stats explaining outcomes of games, but those stats have value.

Give me the Captain, Mr. Captain Crunch.

BigWindyCane1

VT won last night against a ranked team, and GT is winning at halftime tonight against a ranked SEC team. The Coastal will not be a cakewalk. The Canes will be favored in all of its ACC Coastal Division games, but it cannot take any Coastal team lightly.

The Canes must step up and play to their potential consistently this season.

Terrance Sullivan

VT was 10-4 last year and GT was 9-4 last year. It's no surprise to me. Of course I pay plenty of attention to the ACC Coastal and ACC in general. Most fans obsess over The SEC. And Big Ten. Big Twelve, and USC. I keep an eye on them but I obsess about the ACC because that's the league my favorite team has now been in for 14 years with no titles to show for it. So when has it truly ever been a cup cake League and if it was what does that say about our program since September 1, 2004.

thirstybuzzardcane

Tennessee front seven are very slow! Not sure why the D line is lining up the way they are. They need to get closer to the line of scrimmage. They need to penetrate!

thirstybuzzardcane

čĹćčĹćčĹćčĹćI think coach D'no is coaching them....lol

If I'm not mistaken TS wasn't the ACC last year the king of bowl games? Think regular season OOC record was also 1 or 2?

Great blog 86. Extra credit for not trying to cover by using the missing the top WR crutch as an excuse for the lack of major blowout final. Reality based commentary like that is what makes your blog better than any other for Hurricane sports IMO.

Well, after watching every team this week it looks like;

Arkansas St - winnable road game, it will be their game of the year and the home crowd will be ready. Final margin should be comfortable in Miami's favor. The team must return from Jonesboro with a QB or else all bets from here on out are off.
Florida St - went from a difficult potential road upset to a winnable road game all in the course of four quarters of football to start the season. Call it a toss up until the next sacrificial semenhole gets their ears wet to know more what to expect from the replacement.
Toledo - will be good this year, for a MAC team. Defense will need to show up and offense has to be clicking but this is still the easiest home game left.
Duke - improved from last year, still a winnable road game that could turn into a route if the defense gets a few takeaways.
Georgia Tech - Smart Mark got this, he's only got about two decades of prepping yearly for this program after all. Mills getting dismissed from the team isn't much of a factor as they just keep plugging cogs into the high school offense machine. A lesser coach on Miami's sideline would throw this into a tossup category instead of a likely close win where it is for them now. Smart Mark will have to do a better job of Thursday night game prep with the week off leading into it than he did in his first game on that night of the week in his career last season.
Syracuse - improved from last year and is now a marginal bowl team. May have advantage at the QB position still by the time game kicks off if UM can't get any answers there at this late a date in the year. Still should be a comfortable win though.
North Carolina - expect a tough road game but their defense still can't catch up to Fedora's offense so this is winnable. They could hang around and turn it into a shootout where they would have a chance at home.
Virginia Tech - they're the division champs until someone knocks them off. That should be this year for Miami. Fuentes is not afraid to attack press coverage deep to keep teams honest so the secondary is in for a test it appears.
Notre Dame - toughest game of the year, now a home game instead of a road game like it appeared preseason looking at the schedule. Home crowd will be an X factor which means if UM is undefeated going in they should win but if they slip up and attendance suffers with dropping interest in the home market it becomes a tossup very quickly.
Virginia - improved but still not a bowl team. Probably will be a woodshed trip for them.
Pittsburgh - sleeper team and tough to project how rosters will look at the end of the regular season. Should be close but UM can pull this out as it's easily a winnable road game assuming the QB question is settled prior to November.

"Irma's satellite presentation remains quite impressive with a
well-defined eye and a symmetrical CDO containing very cold cloud
tops. Flight-level and SFMR-observed surface winds from NOAA and
Air Force Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicate that the current
intensity is about 120 kt. Since the hurricane will be moving
through an environment of low vertical wind shear, a moist mid-level
atmosphere, and increasing upper-ocean heat content, additional
intensification is likely. The only expected impediment to
strengthening should be eyewall replacement cycles, which are
difficult to predict. The official intensity forecast is very
close to the latest model consensus, ICON. Although the consensus
of the guidance shows slight weakening in the 96- to 120-hour time
frame, Irma is forecast to remain a powerful hurricane throughout
the 5-day forecast period.

Center fixes from the aircraft indicate a westward motion of about
270/11 kt. Irma should turn toward the west-northwest tomorrow
while it is steered by the flow to the south of a mid-level ridge.
A broad trough is forecast to amplify over the eastern U.S. in
72 hours and then lift northeastward leaving a weakness in the ridge
to north of the hurricane. This should cause a slowing of the
forward speed near the end of the forecast period. The official
track forecast is similar to the previous one and is close to the
model consensus.

Users are reminded to not focus on the exact forecast track,
especially at the longer ranges, since the average NHC track errors
are about 175 and 225 statute miles at days 4 and 5, respectively."

Imo Tennessee looked slow, poorly conditioned and unprepared.

We play them at home on a Thursday night in the new black unis and we're adding five legends to the ring of honor.

We know that scheme inside and out, have a far better front seven and will be jacked that night.

That QB may not make it out of the stadium alive.

VfB_Cane

Posted by: Go Canes! | September 04, 2017 at 02:43 PM

That's very interesting indeed. Rosier was spot on throwing to his left and up the middle (11-14). 8 of his 11 incompletions came when he went to the right (6-14).
The last thing we want is a predictable passing game, so Richt father & son better get that fixed in a hurry.

Go Canes!

Posted by: VfB_Cane | September 05, 2017 at 08:48 AM

Thought that was strange as well. Would think throwing to his right would be much more natural.

May be wrong, just the way it's always seemed to me.

Posted by: ASU is really good. We are average | September 05, 2017 at 10:40 AM

No everybody here believes that ASU will easily beat UM. Any other questions?

Old Skool

Dang. This is like reliving my Miami childhood all over again. Lots of excitement

Fill up now and if you're planning on leaving do it sooner than later because what also can happen is that as people leave, gas supplies along the turnpike north of SFLA get stretched or run out as South Floridians drive up out of the area.

VfB_Cane

This could get really ugly wherever this thing is headed.

NHC:
Based on these data the initial intensity is set at 155 kt for this advisory. This makes Irma the strongest hurricane in the Atlantic
basin outside of the Caribbean Sea and Gulf of Mexico in the NHC records.

360Cane

Well, the Huskers run a 3-4, and we all know very well how much that D sucks in college, don't we? []_[]

TonyCane

Bottom line for those of you in the Keys, leave now. If you're tempted to stay, read up on the 1935 Labor Day storm. It's a good example of what happened when a Category 5 storm hit the Keys.

Go Canes!

Anyone who doesn't leave the Keys is insane.

There won't be anything left standing in this thing hits at 150 and this thing is potentially at 175-180.

SOUP

Can't even find good trolls anymore?

SOUP

Agree with everyone about evacuating NOW. I did not hear anything about a voluntary much less mandatory evacuation of the Keys. How could that be?

Also, how do these tiny islands in the Caribbean manage to deal with these storms?

TonyCane

The 1935 storm killed 408 people in a much more sparsely populated Florida Keys. The storm surge destroyed part of the railroad linking the keys.

The track of Irma looks almost identical. Leave now and be safe.

Anyone know what is going on with the spread? Came to Mirage this morning and they had Miami -17.5. I went to take the bet and they would not let me make bet. Then they turned betting off for the game then reopened it at -14.5. By the time I get to the table to make a wager it changed to -12. I took Miami -12. I go eat breakfast and come back to check out other lines and it moved to Miami -10...

Key's evacuation has begun. Mandatory for visitors. Residents to follow.

Yepp. Donna was a bad girl. I remember, as a little boy, the wind blowing so hard that it was driving the rain underneath the front doors. It then jetted up in a spray of water like there was a shower shooting up at you from the ground.

One more thing ... Fill the propane in your grill. If the electricity goes off, you may need to have a grilled meat orgy with family or neighbors before it spoils. Not to mention that may be the only you can cook.

Also if you have kids, it might be a good time to accustom them to eating non-perishable food. During the last hurricane I went through, the power went out for days. My girlfriend had a 13 year old daughter that refused to eat tunafish without mayo. The mom gave in and opened the fridge. The food inside spoiled earlier than necessary.

Irma quote from Weather Channel:
