The C was 1980s like - rest of college football should be scared. Take down Notre Lame and we back!

The D daggum it lo!

Louisville's heavily favored Saturday against UVA. Who's gonna be in Charlotte for the ACCCG??

Now this one is a perplexing problem? I have no insight but will seek it out at the ND tailgate from my "sources".

I'm seeing Wake Forest OL doing damage on ND's DL. I'm seeing an erratic QB for ND & a really good OL. Too bad for those guys they have to deal with our trench warriors.

I dont think ND's D matches up with our O well.

I do what I can. That's all I got.

Tonycane

We’re 8-0 for the first time in 13 years. The defense in the fourth quarter...especially that final drive...that was the closest to Prime Canes football that I have seen since 2001. Watching it I felt we were back in the Orange Bowl.

I’ve never doubted that we could come back. The sleeping giant that was Miami football was always threatening to resuscitate. In the meantime, a loyal 12% kept plugging away, arguing about players and coaches and philosophies as they waited for the greatness to return.

After last Saturday, it’s back. This is a special season, and the long drought is over. This is what Canespace was created for!

Old Skool

Very interesting top seven secrets Tom. Can't wait to read the next three. Hopefully, at least one or two on Saturday. Then save one and maybe the super secret 11 for Clemson.

ColdCane

Sarasota me and my son will be traveling to the ACCCG... True story... Before the season started my son and I made a pact that if the Canes made it to the ACCCG the only way we wouldn't go is if we were deployed (we're both in th army he's stationed in Italy I'm stationed at Fort Hood TX). I'm not counting my chickens before they hatch but we'll definitely be in Charlotte... Of course we want to experience this the canespace way so I'll continue to monitor the blog in the coming weeks to see who else is going so that we can coordinate the tailgate and possibly sitting together

ColdCane

Not only That... It just so happens that my son is going to be home this coming weekend and I'll also be in home this week to do some things around my mom's house that she's making me travel all the way from Texas to do...needless to say I'm asking anyone with two tickets to hold them for me and my boy...l know this is a big game so I'm not asking for charity we'll pay for the tickets I just want to be around Spacers and 12%ers such as myself... anyone who either has or know of two tickets please let me know... Thank you in advance

ColdCane

I think I have the blog to myself so I'll go one more time... I'm going to list what I think are the very worst ALL ACC teams that our defensive players should be placed on...AGAIN THESE ARE MY WORST CASE SCENARIO PICKS... so if I place someone on the 3rd team that means that person could maker first or second team but should at least be on the third team in MY estimation
Joe Jackson 3rd team
Norton 3rd team
RJ 2nd team
Chad 3rd team
McCloud honorable mention
Shaq 3rd team
Pocket 3rd team
Micheal Jackson 1st team
Jaquan 1st team
Redwine 2nd team
M. Young 2nd team

that's 10 of 11 on singe form of ALL-ACC team... Who's with me

ColdCane

That's supposed to be Pickney... Not Pocket

Old Skool

Anyone doing Canespace signs for Gameday?

Go Canes!

If I had to venture a guess as to why Dee Jay is playing conistently ahead of Choc it's because he's a better player who's working harder in practice.

Nothing against Choc but Dallas has looked dynamic just about every time he's had his hands on the ball.

To me it looks more like the Gus "the bust" situation... he wasn't playing all season pretty much then you hear rumors of him being unhappy and looking to transfer and then he is all of a sudden a starter! When we should have been playing Yearby.

This actually cost us 2 RB's!

Go Canes!

Not sure who Gus is in that scenario.

Are you saying Dee Jay is playing cause he wasnt happy and was going to transfer?

Porter on CMR this morning on QAM:

What Mark Richt said on WQAM on Monday morning:

“When you come to Miami you know there’s some challneges to get people excited about the program. They are excited about the program. … It means to much to the players.

“It’s tough on the opponent to function and think clearly and know that things are going to be OK. I can’t thank everybody enough. It was wonderful.”

* The offensive line performance was “the best by far” of the season. “The D-line obviously did a great job as well.”

* Malik Rosier’s three interceptions don’t worry Richt too much. “We knew we were going to have to be aggressive against this defense.” He said Rosier was pressing the issue, as his coaches wanted him to, against a defense that got after him. He didn’t sense Rosier being gun-shy. Quarterbacks coach Jon Richt, his son, told the quarterback “don’t flinch.”

* Rosier’s touchdown run was a set play. It has passing options, but UM saw run all the way. Of the quarterback runs that looked like they could be a draw, it’s probably “50-50 by design,” Richt said. He mentioned Rosier running for a first down on another play just because he instantly recognized a coverage and took off.

* Jaquan Johnson “never ceases to amaze me,” Richt said, with how he tackles much bigger players.

* Richt on the Turnover Chain: “It has really gone berzerk.” He said “all the Little League teams around South Florida have their own version.” He also noted that if “we we’re 5-5 with seven turnovers” people would be making fun of it.

* As coaches, “you don’t have time” to pay attention to the social media criticism that came with close wins.

* Ahmmon Richards, is he OK? “I think he’s getting better as we go.” He said Richards’ hamstring and ankle have made 2017 tough for him, but UM still has confidence he can make a big play when they need him. Richt praised Richards, Braxton Berrios and Jeff Thomas in particular for their downfield blocking, which was excellent all around.

* What was Richt thinking on the fourth-down call early? “I’m Mr. Kick a Field Goal No Matter How Bad it Hurts … but you know what, I got so mad we couldn’t get that darn thing in there” that UM went for it. “It wasn’t a good call. … It was bad, but I was mad. We went into this game saying, ‘We can’t flinch.'” It didn’t work, but he wasn’t upset Virginia Tech’s offense had to try to go 95 yards against UM’s defense.

* On Notre Dame: “It’s exciting. We talk about, this is why we come here. This is why I came back to my alma mater, these types of moments.” He wants to “embrace the moment, without getting carried away with all the type of things that won’t help you win.”

* On recruiting: “It’s great. It’s great. You tend to be able to measure your success … by how many times does a great player come to your campus or one of your ballgames? It’s week after week after week.” He said there’s a “roll call of guys” that come to Sunday night practices, and the 2018-20 players who came to last week’s game was “amazing. It’s going to happen again next week.”

“If you go by that, we’re going to be in pretty good shape for a while.”

BigWindyCane1

Soup was pretty accurate in his 34-13 prediction.

One of the biggest games in the program's history (certainly the biggest game since joining the ACC), and the Canes played at a very high level. That is good coaching, no doubt. One of CMR's goals at the beginning of the season as effectively been achieved - win the ACC Coastal. Great win for the program.

The next goal, which becomes achievable once you win the ACC Coastal, is an ACC Championship and CF Playoff. To reach that goal, there are still a few things to clean up on offense, and even on defense, which means that if the Canes can find a way to do that, the Canes can really compete for a national championship THIS season. It all starts next week at home in the Hard Rock Stadium. The Canes will face the last team they lost to. The Canes should be fired up and ready to reestablish themselves.

I would like to see Rosier complete a few more throws and at a higher percentage, but I am happy with his heart and playmaking.

Rosier needs to eliminate the turnovers he had against VT, and could have had against UNC and Syracuse. The Canes can beat anyone in college football when the Canes win the turnover battle.

Great things ahead of him off the field when he's done.

If RJ McIntosh isnt a 1st team All ACC then f*ck them. McIntosh has dominated every game he's been in. He and Norton are causing train wrecks at the LoS.

His Royal Dudeness

Best of luck to DJack going forward. As Go Canes said he's not only 1 heck of a great football player, it seems he's an even better young man. NFL or coming back I'll be in that guy's corner 100%.

His Royal Dudeness

If the OL plays against ND as good as they did against VT, we should win a closer game. OL still has some work to do, (that 4th & goal attempt really showed confusion as to who had the outside man) but if we dominate their DL for stretches of the game, they cant beat us. Wimbush is going to get rattled. ND is beatable and I think we are more talented, however talent only gets us so far. I really like the home team, I'm not ready for this ride to be over.

Miami-Notre Dame 2017: Hurricanes DE Demetrius Jackson injured, but focused on giving back

BigWindyCane1

Dude,
I am not sure whether McIntosh and Norton will get the first team nods, but they are being noticed by NFL scouts. Its hard to block both of them one-on-one, and they just absolutely destroyed VT up the middle.

The Canes DL is deep and talented. Coach Kul is doing a great job, definitely the best DL coach in college football. Too bad for DJack, because he was definitely playing at a very high level, especially on running plays and the option. I also think he did a great job rushing the passer.

The Canes DL will still play well, but DJack will be missed. I am not sure how Garvin plays the run, especially the option, but DJack was probably the best DL against the run this season.

I knew Garvin was good coming out of Palm Beach County, but Coach Kul has really worked with him.
When opponents pass the ball, Garvin is really a master beyond his years. On all of the pass plays I have seen Garvin in lately, he has not been effectively blocked by any tackle he has faced. Garvin consistently puts pressure on every pass rush. Garvin has great tools and tricks. Garvin is quick off the snap, can even bend, extend and contort his body and brings violence when he goes after the QB. No offense to Joe Jackson, but Garvin might be the best pass rushing freshman I have seen in quite some time.

I hate to say this, but I think Norton and McIntosh might be leaving for the NFL after this season if they keep playing like they have been. However, there is plenty of DL talent on the roster. With Garvin, DJ Johnson, Ford and other recruits coming in, Coach Kul will have great DLs to mold and develop for years. No doubt, Coach Kul has made Miami into DL-U.

I wonder if Mullins quit or they got rid of him? I don't know what is going in behind the scenes and maybe there is a lot more to it but if that tweet was the only transgression it seems like a mistake to part ways on from either side. Seems more like a teaching moment from the coaching side and if he chose to leave I hope he changes his mind and begs to comeback. Bottom line Mullins needs to understand we are extremely deep at reciever. If Langham isn't complaining no one else should.

From hurricanesports.com:

"It was an hour before kickoff, one of the guys came out and they just noticed the difference of the energy," Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz said. "The student section brought it and the fans brought it. Two hours before kickoff, just when the buses pulled up and seeing the scenes that were going on in the parking lot, let our guys know that the city is different and that's the relationship between Hurricane football and South Florida."

With the victory, the Hurricanes have the inside track to the ACC Coastal division title. Miami has won eight consecutive games at Hard Rock Stadium and improved its FBS-leading win streak to 13 games.

86Cane

"It was magical," linebacker Shaquille Quarterman said. "This was the livest game I've ever been a part of. I've never seen so much love for our team, the way our fans showed up. It took me for surprise honestly coming out running out the smoke. The smoke is always amazing, but when you see every seat filled and everybody standing up. We rarely saw any other color that wasn't orange and green. We walked on the field for the first drive and it's bonkers in there. It's just amazing."

Saturday night’s game is waaayyyyy more personal.

86Cane

"It was a great night of not flinching," Richt said of Rosier's performance. "I'll put in some props for my son, Jon. He really did a good job of keeping him even-keeled and saying, 'Look, man, we're going to take shots. Some of those things happen and you can't flinch. You cannot flinch. We believe in you, we trust you and you're our guy, so just get used to it.' I heard some of the things Jon was saying over the headphones, and he was saying the right things to Malik to help him know that we're behind him and he's doing a pretty darn good job against a great defense."
