Somebody posted that Rosier had a bad completion% I am not looking it up but I wonder how our avg 3rd down distance compares to the rest of the ACC. It seems like defenses know what's coming from us which makes it harder for everyone. From the O-line to the QB. It's the main reason our 3rd down success rate has been so terrible.

I could be wrong about this but I thought I heard Richt in an interview saying the average day for our coaches is only approx 9-5/6. I don't I think ever heard that from another professional coach. With all the other positive stuff he does how can he properly game plan for our opppnents?

MLALUMNI1970

I feel another nail biter coming on. Maybe church, synagogue, mosque, etc. are the places we should visit.
Total embarrassment. Maybe there are injuries, etc. that we do not know about.
My beloved KEN DORSEY We needed you so badly, Suit up. Who would know. Maybe Michael Irvin could squeeze into his son's uniform!! Maybe Ray Lewis could do the same.
Feeling kind of desperate. I wonder what Manny Diaz was and is thinking.
CMR needs to kick some butt and fire the team up. Starting with his own butt. Disgraceful.

BEERicane

You know, there are an awful lot of golds going against that auburn DL that also aren’t getting called.... are hold calls overall down this year?

BEERicane

This Bama-Aub game is one head scratcher play after another down the stretch here

BEERicane

What the hell is going on? There?!

BEERicane

Down goes Bama.

MLAlumni1970

Auburn is beating Bama. Just think if we were still undefeated. So many possibilities.
What will happen now? (if we beat Clemson)

Go Canes!!

For those in favor of chaos, Clemson losing to South Carolina would create pure insanity.

I've been saying since last season we only run a couple sets and a few plays off em. The D looks like they know what's coming cause they do. Richt depends on overwhelming talent to win. He's not gonna try to out scheme (out coach) anybody. We saw yesterday what happens when his talent isn't "on".

He did show new wrinkles for ND and VT, and I suspect he will do the same for Clempson. I feel more confident going into this game than I did for Pitt and uva. I expected our luck to run out.

Killerbeez41

Hate to say it......but we will lose to Clemson. Now that you know the outcome, you can relax next saturday.

Clemson is hitting on all cylinders late in the season. They look like a well oiled machine. HUGE challenge for both sides of the ball. We have to play lights out to win this game. Man I don't know, my heart says CANES, but my mind keeps saying Clemson. We HAVE to start fast on O, if not the D has to keep Clemson's O in check. We are going to have play our asses off to get this one. I didn't see the fight necessary to beat Pitt to secure a for sure spot for a NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. We better wake the f@ck up or Clemson will EMBARRASS us AGAIN! Come on CANES, prepare your asses off to get this W. Have to EXECUTE!!!!

Searles is stealing paychecks (Dude)

So Bama's loss eliminates OSU right?

86Cane

We HAVE to start fast on O, if not the D has to keep Clemson's O in check.

Posted by: Killerbeez41 | November 25, 2017 at 10:47 PM

Shirley, U can't be serious?

The question is not if we can start fast on O, but if we will ever even get started.

VA Cane

The loss yesterday was disappointing..but you could see it coming.
I have refrained from comments lately; I am not a fan...ever... but a coach.
The things I see the most for the loss are...Fundamentals, Execution, and Consistency.

The OL is questionable regarding fundamentals...lazy fat...shuffle feet instead of picking them up...stand and look.....run reach and pass block..good average and bad...depending on how they want to be! Fundamentals average to poor...same for Execution and Consistency depending on who you play...bad mindset!

QB...very limited Fundamentals footwork mechanics reading...delivery...average at best. Execution and Consistency...Average to Poor great heart but takes more!

WRs..Fundamentals...good hands..most of time good blocking...never use TE...WHY? great player...coaching problem they are so blind regarding TE...Richards is a diva...hammy not good...but poor attitude all year...crybaby!..Coley II grow up baby! Berrios took Pitt off!

D...good but issues....Jackson and Thomas...want sacks...not so tough vs run...DTs..strong. McCloud has attitude...often out of place...DBs improved...still out of place at times...weak tackling at times.
Manny is too elaborate at times..leaves openings for attack lacks discipline at times..good..but not Buddy R/46 good!...stunts vs Pitt left QB run open all 3 times in Red Zone...and someone said do not blame D... 2 TOs...but got their Face Punched on the run all day and In 3 trips to RZ...gave them 3 RZ TDs that looked EZ...not so elite then!

Feagles sucks..find a punter.

Coaching..do not understand Fundamentals Execution or Consistency

OL poor all 3 areas...Searels sucks got to go tonight! horrible in all areas! Weak link!!

QB...QB coach Richt and HC CMR....poor in all 3 areas....CMR should be involved..apparently is not or does not know...he was a UM QB...poor!

ST....punting sucks!!

D....good overall still see a lot of grabbing instead of tackling...Jackson and Thomas need run coaching...DBs wrap up!!!

We have had a good year...lots of passion...heart...luck...but when your QB and OL cannot Execute Fundamentals Consistently...it catches up...Pitt...you cannot skate and win NCs with Fundamentals Execution and Consistency average to poor at OL and QB!

I like CMR...but I do not see a staff coaching Fundamentals I do not see a staff working on Executing Fundamentals Consistently I do not see a Fundamental Consistent Game Plan being Executed...and CMR is not in your face kick your ass Aggressive....those bowls he smokes make him mellow down easy....This aint Gawga my friend..mellow and average Fundamentals Execution and Consistency got ya fired.. get an OC...OL coach...put the pipe down and get the desire to beat all comers...got to Hit Hate and Hurt...while teaching Fundamentals Execution Consistency

Great Year...surprised...much room for improvement....We can still get it...Clemson is the focus!!!

JMO

VA Cane

not said much in a while...while my health from leg and heart is very good....wife has lump in lung...fluid around it...52 yrs old...smoked long time....does not look good. She is not a positive person...makes it tougher. Very tough for me and my kids.

I have been working very much...but still watching Canes...and coaching. My college team where I coach DBs..VA State U had great year 10-0 won first playoff game but got beat in quarters...11-1.
My 8th graders are 11 - 0...play for SB title Sat 12 2...hope we can win...would be 8 of last 10 titles....and would give me title at 3 different teams in league.
I want UM to get in it...we must work hard this week...still got a shot...go Canes!!!!

86Cane

OK, so as to my conspiracy theory, I am not going to just come out and state it but instead will ask some questions that simply can't be answered. Let's start with this seemingly innocent enough comment:

He did show new wrinkles for ND and VT, and I suspect he will do the same for Clempson.

Posted by: 1mg Of We Need An OC | November 25, 2017 at 10:37 PM

So what is the purpose of showing "new wrinkles" in previous games only NOT to use them in such a critical game and time as when trailing at Pitt late and your QB struggling mightily with National Championship implications hinging on every play in this final game of the season?

On the pass to Berrios where he was wide open running to the sideline and Rosier threw the ball behind him, why not go back to that play later in the game? Even if you need to disguise it with a different WR from a different formation?

Why no Wildcat, jet sweep, double reverse, trick play, fake punt or ANYTHING to even look like you were trying to actually win the game instead of just playing it out?

On the drive when we threw short passes, went right down the field and scored to make it 7-3, you know that one drive where it looked like we could score at will anytime we wanted? Why not stick with that and do it again and again?

I think you might see where I am going with this but am afraid to say out loud because it sounds so cray-cray that it seems almost absurd. I will not risk losing my credibility by just saying it but something is just not right and I think you know it too. There is a reason for these choices, decisions and outcomes. You decide what is or isn't a possible conspiracy theory.

VA Cane

Not so sure about conspiracy..86 your are a SHARP cat...like Columbo or Adrian Monk!!!!

...think thats the kind of Coach CMR is....good....but nothing more. Not innovative, not aggressive, not fundamental/execution/consistency based, not a big play action pass guy, not a TE guy at all. Not a big time motivator, not real hands on teaching, does not develop or hire strong coaches...and it does not matter. Rather have son coaching QBs and himself calling plays than a real QB coach or OC....little ego I know best here?
Great man...but not a breathe live die football guy...its a good job, great $.....but winning it all...no big deal never has been close..does it matter?!!!
To me...YES!!! MATTERS!!...winning it all is LIFE! lucky for my 2 state titles in HS career...lucky for numerous
SBs in current league, lucky for 5 HS titles at L C Birds High where I have coached.....not Big time College or NFL....but damn the kids the parents the crowds...and Winning it All is like....Best High Ever!!!!
I emphasize WE.....TEAM....GOD I love winning with others..Together!!!!
CMR...great man...likes to win...but if not...thats ok with him...has made $millions....he will get us back to relevant....but eventually I think it will take a different man who demands titles to get ther.
JMO

raizecane

Soup - all very good questions above. Honestly, if you watched the presser by Rozier, it pretty much tells you the story. He basically admitted he was not focused on this game and rest assure he wasn't the only one.

One would think the scare last week would have given them a sense to come out strong but they won in the past so they probably figured....meh... we wil get them in the second half like we have all year.....

If i am CMR and my starting quarterback makes those comments, you bet your ass he is going to pay a price during the week. I would also double the 2nd string QB's reps during practice......

VA Cane

One final observation....ESPN is horrible has been forever....so glad Mike and Mike are done...watching SC Kenny Mayne has been there forever ...horrible forever...he is kin to someone....and Heather Dinich she is an idiot....hates us for sure...but thats fine....why would you have an employee that does not know a damn thing about the game? Why? Cheap trying to save money!

Shes is very dumb regarding football....and she is one ugly woman! Dumb, Ugly....and hates UM?
3 strikes you out honey!!!!

Here is a guy who gets it.

Great job, Soup.

SJMPARMAN

Every football coach wins, and loses, games. It is the profession. I'll still take the record this season over the criticism but that's just me.

86Cane

Just for the record, I am NOT saying Richt wanted to lose or lost the game on purpose. I DO think he has some sense of a higher calling or "bigger picture" in mind when it comes to the team, their character building and their L/T future. I think he thinks that suffering and perseverance builds character. I think that he would put that goal above winning now and do so without a single question as to why he was doing it or what was more important. If he really is in this as his final gig he wants it forever not just for now like we the fans do.

VA Cane

I would also double the 2nd string QB's reps during practice......

I would agree....his comments...while maybe honest...ring hollow..every week is the Big Push!
Prepare to Fundamentally Execute a Consistent Game Plan! Thought he had a better attitude than that....he played very poorly and is an average player at the best.....very average at his very best!!!

That being said...are you ready to prepare Evan (Cinderblock Feet) Shirreffs to take reps to beat the defending NCS? He is an embarrassment to have a scholly.....he is horrible!
hope he finds a new home....no future here....he is horrible!!!!

Malik looks like....well...uh...ummm...err..Kirby or Kyle or Spencer Whipple or Jascory comparewd to ES!!!!

VA Cane

Think he is a good coach....great man....who is happy to be in football, happy to win some games, be at UM, and get paid great $$$,.... but not aggressive enough, motivated enough, or has the deep burning desire to be a National Champion....it is not a Desire or Goal for a very good man!

Finishing 11 -2 and being say....10th to 12th in the final polls is good enough for CMR! Works for some people!!!....Just not me!!!

Don't look much into this!

Go Canes!

We did go back to that throw to Berrios, and back to the bubble screen that worked early, and to the TE who rolled his ankle, and to the middle of the field and to the streaking WR that had 5 steps on the corner every time.

The throws were either way off target, batted down.or the play was busted up by pressure, In that order in my opinion.

Watched the Clemson game last night,

They are talented and well coached. Their defense is very good but i truly believe ours is better.

South Carolina played that game like a pissed off little brother. Flailing, undisciplined, trying to fight instead of playing football.

They gifted them their first few touchdowns,

Their QB is just ok, limited throwing the ball for sure.

We'll have more prep time than them. If we play well this will be a dogfight.

Can't wait.

thirstybuzzardcane

Agree, Go! Should be a good one!

If we lose, we'll be playing Alabama, Georgia, or Ohio State in the Orange Bowl. Not too shabby!

As far as the berrios Miss: there were open receivers deep the whole game. I'm pretty sure berrios was open on that same route again. Rosier just didn't see the open guy or missed him when he did.

As far as not changing things up for a flailing QB.... maybe Richt didn't do it because that's just what we'd be expecting him to do.

I didn't see the game last night, but I have seen them play here and there... they didn't look as explosive as last couple years. Like u said solid D. I don't think there is much of a talent gap either way.

We can beat them if our QB can be accurate, and if our OL can hold up in run and pass.

As far as coaching.... whether we win or lose, I'd bet after the game we will be asking "where was this for Pitt?"

Searles is stealing paychecks (Dude)

Dear Miami offense,

Get you sh*t together now. You owe your defense now. Theyve saved your asses by letting you hang around in games all season until youve got your act together, this bullsh*t. You owe them 3 TD drives in a row minimum. Malik, when you threw all those picks against VT, your D came up and told you we got you. Now its your turn. Youre 11-1 as a starter, I have faith that after your worst game as a Miami QB, you can follow it up with your best, because thats what do at The U. Bring that chip on your shoulder. OL, what can I say that you dont already know? I dont get it, the missed assignments especially, no wonder we only run 4 run plays. You have played like 1500 pounds of p*ssy game in and game out and yet here we are, 1 game away from none of that mattering. This Clemson team is good, but it isnt any better than what youve seen in practice. On Saturday, all of Canes family will be watching, the pressure IS on, you must answer the call and bully those guys on the other side. I will guarantee you this, if you effectively establish the run, we win and you are the ACC Champions.

WWIN

Posted by: 86Cane | November 25, 2017 at 11:43 PM

I believe that when we play bad teams like Pitt CMR gives the offense 6-8 plays to work with and tells em... These are all the plays we need to beat this team... if we execute em we'll win!

When we've played good teams we run things we've never ran all season.

Would this Pitt game matter if we win the ship? In the grand scheme of things the plan is to put 3 solid game plans together with the biggest one starting Saturday night!

Not til the qb was beat up, rattled and cold.

ANY aware observer would know a game like this was coming for Malik.

We were not ready for it at all.

We can win if he plays bad. Cause the o aint just him.

It aint all about throwing either.

Iwatched Baylor win a few years ago with a 3rd or 4th string emergency qb who was really a reciever.

We got a poor mans Tim Tebow as our starting qb.

We need to call games like it.

How when the OL can run the ball? The LBs and Ss do not respect the run. Much of that spread stuff (which I totally agree we should run a bunch more of, Mark Helfrich, just saying) relies on an effective run game from shotgun. Our OL is getting bullied and is missing assignments consistantly.

UMike

True...but the 2005 collapse lead to those 07-15 Canes lol

Searles is stealing paychecks (Dude)

*when the OL *cant* run the ball.

raizecane

Homer needs to do a better much job. Love the kid but he is just not hitting the holes or making the cuts Walton would have. 14 yards rushing against pitt could mean 5 yards rushing against Clemson.

WWIN

No reason our defense should not have shut out this Pitt team with a TRUE FRESHMAN QB either! Why is it ok for our D to give up points to everybody? Their QB looked like a redshirt senior against us!

Special teams is still the WORST unit on the team... only thing that helps them is Jersey Mike... which he was already a made man before Hartley came. No return game whatsoever... Berrios calls fair catch as soon as the ball leaves the punters foot... Jeff Thomas runs the ball up the right sideline EVERY TIME... Deejay Dallas doesn't block ANYBODY on the return. Sorry but these aren't return men.

Offense lacks creativity which I think we all know. Too much subbing of WR's IMO. Rosier struggles with accuracy like we all know but I think chemistry and better game planning would help him. Like 1mg said... when have we had a game plan that exposed the opponents weakness? Then look when teams play us... Toledo exposed Dee Delaney, went short passing game to negate our pass rush... teams have exposed McCloud... Pitt used our speed against us... etc... etc... When are we going to do this.

CA Cane

Playing down to your opponent is the worst most unacceptable excuse I have ever heard. simply put: if you really do this, it means your players staff and HC did not prepare mentally, physically to execute the fundamentals consistently.
VT ND we played really good. so how do you line up against Pitt and not do the same? Certainly we did, but playing down to your opponent, on the road, noon start are lame excuses. At least be in the game....we were not even close after they got the lead. Certainly the worst game we have played in the last 16 games!

So now we go on the road, against the defending NCs, at night....we have to prepare to succeed. There is no excuse no playing down....we must play good.
Hopefully the tape will make each player and coach see how bad we did play....Apathy...we did not care. It is over and done so live learn and go get that title to get in the playoffs.
Thats what championship teams do even when they lose... we are lucky as Bama cannot control their ships fate....things got to happen for them....
so lets go to the Queen City and win the title, we got a shot still!

CA Cane

Preach it WWIN!
My big deal with the D is that they got their face pushed in 3 times....in the Red Zone.....thought we had more pride than that...that frosh ran a couple big timers over.....where are the Tatum hits...I saw none.

Returns need work important....and I thought Feagles would shine this year...he is not good. His Dad at 51 is way better....the old man averaged 41.6 over 22 seasons....what happened to those genes?

When are we going to do this.

That one is easy: NEVER.

Clearly, you didn't get the memo. We have no need to game plan because we will be too busy imposing our will on our opponent. Check your "in box", you keep missing all the memos.

I mean, there were 4 TDs left out there, so Richt did put us in position to win. Malik just missed tons of throws and the OL never gave Richt confidence in the run.

CORRECT!

But those passes were open but not WIDE OPEN like everybody has been saying which still makes em low percentage pass plays. If our offense was more creative we could have done something else. Instead... we can't connect on the deep ball so our solution is... keep throwing the deep ball? Look at Clemson's offense... the ball is out of the QB's hand less than a second on most of his passes. Other teams know how to spread the ball around and we don't!

Bingo!

Defense pitches a shut out and we win a nasty ugly game 7-0 or 14-0

They would have done the same thing to Walton lol! Which is expected when you only have 2 running plays and the D knows when it's coming!

1st 2001 didnt pitch shutouts every game.

2nd, we arent there yet. Maybe with 4 years of number 1 classes we could get there. D did its job.

Also, its just not the kind of kid he is. He's a hit the hole hard and run kid. 3rd stringer on an elite, elite team. When we have 2 healthy Waltons and 1 healthy Homer with a healthy Deejay, then we are stacked. They still need an OL that blocks like angry bullies.

The LMAO post of the week. Literally.

Remember last year when Kaaya completed 17 straight and 23 of 24 and you kept bringing out some "True QBR". You then went on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on about how the play calling was so simple anyone ccould do it and Kaaya wasnt any good?

Now you're saying we needed to have pitched a shutout to win?

The D did it's job all day long. The offense was so unbelievably inept they spent the entire game on the field. They also werent helped by completely inept punting that usually resulted with Virigina with a short field every series.

Go back and look at the 5 yard out thrown past a receiver into the opposing bench, or the sreen to Berrios thrown 5 feet past him from 15 feet away.

Isn't it SOOOOOO easy to complete those anyone can do it?

Every single player on this roster has improved dramatically over the last two years, Kaaya incuded.

He finished his career here scorching teams, including dropping 5 TDs and no picks against this team.

Well WW, Malik hasnt completed 17 IN A GAME since Syracuse.

This playcalling cry is a part of it, I get it. But can anyone here honestly say "This is his go to throw. This is his bread and butter"

The reality is the coaches have no idea where the ball is going to go when it leaves his hand. I dont think he even does at this point.

I just pray we get hot Malik on Saturday and he continues to make plays with his legs as he has done all season.

Or we will need the defense to pitch a shutoout to win.

1. We can't do it ONE game in TWO YEARS??? A good D can at least shutout ONE team on the schedule.

2. Two TRUE FRESHMAN QB's in back to back weeks against us looked like redshirt seniors! Wisconsin pitched a shutout yesterday... is their D better than ours? Do they have more stars than us?

Malik has accomplished WAY MORE THAN KAAYA EVER DID IN 3 YEARS IN ONE SEASON! Who had a better offense West Virginia in the bowl game or Pitt with a TRUE FRESHMAN QB??? Defense was NOT GREAT Friday or last Saturday.

Get over your love for Kaaya... the man had a failing grade in the bowl game with a MONTH to prepare for it!

You worried about STATS win the name of the game is WINS! 17 passes in a row or 11 WINS in a row? I'll take the latter for $500 Alex!

YOU SOUND INSANE! IDIOTIC POST OF THE DECADE! But keep thinking you know football...

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

BEERicane

It’s tough for a D to keep holding when the O just goes 3 and out. Ask Bama last night.

Go Canes!

You think it's a love for Kaaya?

LOL

Everyone has gotten better here WW.

EVERYONE.

From castoffs like Micheal Jackson and Braxton Berrios to young players, to underachievers like Thomas and McDermott. Even up and down Kaaya finished his here playing lights out..

But now rotating receivers too often, ack of creativity and defenses not pitching shutout are the problem according to you.

Give me a BREAK

Imagine if they didnt have their All American punter.

I swear it felt like every punt got fair caught at our 35-40.
