Cant wait. Look forward to tailgating and seeing our Miami Hurricanes beat Wisconsin in the Orange Bowl and finish 11-2 and tie the 2003 team as the best team in the last 14 years of Miami Hurricanes Football and the best Canes team since joing the ACC in 2004. Go Canes! Beat The Badgers!

What you've failed to notice is that the outcome of the UM vs fsu can determine the rest of your season. Had we lost I think our season would be a lot different and the same can be said for them.

Have you forgotten what happens to us right after losing to them?

Anyways... EVERYONE knows when you're playing a rival THROW THE RECORDS OUT THE WINDOW

Why?
If he comes back and he starts, it is because Perry still isn't good enough to play big minutes at this level of competition.
If he comes back and he doesn't start, then at least he will be a reliable back up. (And we'll need a reliable backup if Perry starts, because Perry doesn't have a physique which can withstand too many hard hits).

Looks like Josh Jobe is about to flip to Bama. Honestly, I really dont know what he is for us. Certainly not a CB because he isnt very fast, Hall is a much better FS than he is. As a SS Jobe just doesnt have the hitting power you look for. Hopefully this means we are landing Campbell and Surtain Jr. If that happe s then in 2 years our DBs will be the best collection of talent in the country.

With things looking good for Miami with Top247 quarterback Jarren Williams ahead of Wednesday's announcement, the Hurricanes will spend part of Monday checking up on top arm for the next cycle.

InsideTheU has learned that assistant coach Jon Richt is expected to swing by Eugene (Ore.) Sheldon High which is home to Top300 quarterback Michael Johnson Jr.

Johnson Jr., who is listed as the nation's No. 4 dual-threat quarterback in the Class of 2019, was offered by UM back in July. He continues to state that the plan is to visit Coral Gables this upcoming spring.

“I have always liked Miami just based on the way that they have played and the talent that they have there every year. I just love their style. They are definitely high on my list and definitely up there in my Top 3 when it comes to my thought process."

Johnson Jr. (6-4, 190) is the son of Oregon assistant Michael Johnson. He threw for 1,218 yards and 21 touchdowns this past season with 5 interceptions to his credit while running for 12 more scores and 745 yards on the ground.

RCCF

Miami's regular season is over which means that recruiting season is in full swing. The Hurricanes had multiple coaches out on the road Sunday as they looked to make one final push before the early signing period in a few weeks. InsideTheU has the latest.

Big Commit Coming?

Miami currently holds 20 public commitments in the Class of 2018 following Patrick Joyner's decision to flip from Florida State to the hometown Hurricanes on Sunday. While many will point to Jimbo Fisher's exit in Tallahassee as the reason why Joyner double-backed on his pledge the Seminoles, it's not. Joyner is a prospect that Manny Diaz has been working since June and one the coaches always felt confident about signing despite what was said during interviews.

With Joyner getting the momentum going once again for Miami on the recruiting trail the good news shouldn't stop anytime soon. We continue to hear good things bout where UM stands with Lawrenceville (Ga.) Central Gwinnett Top247 quarterback Jarren Williams and fully expect the former Kentucky commit to pick the Hurricanes over Ohio State and Auburn on Wednesday when he announces a decision via social media. Williams is in line become one of the highest ranked quarterbacks to sign with the Hurricanes in over a decade. He's also someone that could compete for playing time right away seeing as how he plans to enroll early after participating in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl in January.

Defensive Line Board Update

Miami has cooled on Kissimmee Gateway three-star defensive tackle Dennis Briggs. That's why it wasn't much of a surprise to see him tell reporters last week that he was actually thinking of committing to FSU before Fisher left for Texas A&M. Why aren't the Hurricanes as high on Briggs as they once were? Because of recent conversations with junior college defensive tackle Jared Goldwire. The Louisville commit took an official visit to Coral Gables last month for the Notre Dame game and apparently impressed the staff in multiple ways while he was on campus. We're not ready to state that a flip is imminent (contacts at Louisville still indicate that the Cardinals feel like confident that Goldwire sticks) but things appear to be trending in the right direction for the Hurricanes.

UM has also gained some traction with Top50 defensive tackle Michael Thompson. We reported last week that the Saint Louis (Mo.) Parkway North standout was planning to take an official visit to Miami and are told that's still the case. Some think that the U.S. Army All-American, who is also considering Missouri and USC amongst others, could contribute right away at the next level much like Fort Lauderdale American Heritage Top247 defensive tackle Nesta Silvera.

As for defensive ends, the Hurricanes continue to look like the team to beat for Fort Lauderdale American Heritage Top300 defensive end Andrew Chatfield (more on that below) and are scheduled to have an in-home visit with North Carolina three-star defensive end commit Chris Collins on Tuesday. He's another flip candidate for defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski.

Latest Buzz Out Of American Heritage

Miami made a little tour of American Heritage on Sunday. The Hurricanes sent Diaz, Kuligowski, cornerbacks coach Mike Rumph and safeties coach Ephraim Banda all together in on in-home visits with Silvera, Chatfield, five-star cornerback Patrick Surtain Jr. and five-star cornerback Tyson Campbell. Based upon everything we have heard the past 24 hours we're told that those sit-down meetings went well although we continue to hear that each recruitment is going to feature plenty of twists and turns down the stretch and are far from being over.

The good news? A trusted source at American Heritage stated on Friday that he was more than confident that the Hurricanes are going to sign 'multiple' kids out of the 5A powerhouse program given all the recent coaching changes and the type of season UM had. That was even after the source saw Alabama defensive backs coach Derrick Ansley pacing the sidelines and chatting up both Surtain Jr. and Campbell's parents.

Other In-Home Visits

Mark Richt and tight ends coach Todd Hartley flew out to Las Vegas on Sunday to have an in-home visit with Top247 tight end Brevin Jordan. The Under Armour All-American remains completely locked in with the Hurricanes. Richt is expected to be in Orlando on Wednesday to meet with Dr. Phillips three-star offensive tackle John Campbelland then Jacksonville on Wednesday to see Providence Top300 tight end Will Mallory. We have heard he will be in Georgia on Thursday. Banda is schedule to make his way up to Top100 safety Josh Jobe's prep school in Connecticut that day as well.

The Canes have nearly a month to rest and game-plan. After ten straight weeks of playing football without a bye week, the Canes have a nearly a month off so Wisconsin will receive the well-rested Canes best shot. CMR will game plan to the strengths of the current roster.

It would create a lot of momentum going into the off-season if the Canes close out the Orange Bowl, a major bowl, with a win. That is substantial progress in year 2 under CMR and staff.

After much serious thought and contemplation regarding the relative strengths and weaknesses of both Orange Bowl teams, I will give my early prediction and try to stick with it:
Miami 34 - Wisconsin 13.

BigWindyCane1

Following this week, the Canes are still the only college program ranked in the top 10 in both basketball and football.

BigWindyCane1

The Canes men basketball team really looked impressive against Minnesota and Princeton. They were underdogs against the Gophers, and they beat the spread against the Tigers.

The Canes men basketball team is definitely better than last season, and that improvement not only comes from the incoming freshmen like Walker, Waadenburg and Lykes, it is from the growth and development of the current roster in Newton, Vasiljevic, Izundu Huell, Brown and Lawrence. It is really amazing how much the Canes develop players at Coral Gables under Coach L.

But the players get enough...

Man a lot of y'all round here is like Richt; smart but way behind.

This article is four years old and more relevant now than at publication.

Youth football coaching is largely TERRIBLE. Most of them clowns warm up, do 10 minutes of drills if any at all, and just scrimmage.

Dominant run blocking is HARD to come by because the youth coaches are throwing every play. Learning to run block was HARD. We suffered for it.

I am pro style 60-40 run pass all day, but it doesn't exist like that anymore. Even Bama is phasing away.

Our qbs struggled because they played in an effective but antiquated system that gets the qb hit ALOT WHILE DEFENSELESS. Defenders are too ungodly to put a qb through that like it is still the 80s.

They both broke down when it mattered most because of it. They lost rhythm in big games and looked AWFUL. Both BK and MR and I have and will defend them both.

It ain't 96.

Get the ball out that man hand quick at all cost.

We just got our shut twisted by two teams who get it.

When will we?

Well seeing as both QB's of the future are dual-threat I would say game 1, next season.

Go 'canes!!

His Royal Dudeness

Some people think the spread gets your QB hit too much, and while that is technically true, the ideal is that the QB should know where the hit is coming from because the matchup is found prior to, or quickly after the snap so that the QB is able to get the needed yards and then protect himself. Most of the great spread QBs stay healthy so I dont really see the problem.

TruCane81

Man y'all motherf***ers something else.

Did y'all see the way Brad got thunder cat, w.w.e. body slammed at Fsu? Then got his f***in tooth knocked out?

Y'all seen them hits Malik take in the pocket and barely get up? Get up play like shit and y'all surprised?

Richt did that.

It's his philosophy.

Respect your opinion but Kaaya ended his career here on the best run of his entire time on campus.

And I honestly don’t remember Malik taking any hits any other qb who’s s threat to run takes.

Thought our pass protection the last two seasons has been generally good. Kaaya just made it look worse than it was with his concrete feet. Our run blocking is what’s been consistent terrible.

Randy Shannon hired as UCF's new D-Cord ....

86Cane

The UCF Knights have hired Missouri offensive coordinator Josh Heupel as head coach, replacing Scott Frost.

Heupel is finishing his second season at Missouri, which has put up big offensive numbers.

"I'm extremely excited about the opportunity to represent UCF," Heupel said in a statement.

He served as quarterbacks coach and co-offensive coordinator at Oklahoma from 2006 to 2014 before being let go at his alma mater, where he played quarterback on the Sooners' national championship team in 2000 and was the Heisman Trophy runner-up.

The 39-year-old spent the 2015 season at Utah State before joining Missouri's staff.

"I believe we've identified one of the brightest offensive minds in college football," UCF athletic director Danny White said in a prepared statement. "His offensive system is very similar to what we've been running. I know he's going to utilize all the great talent on our roster and continue to add to it. He's no stranger to success, winning a national championship as a quarterback and leading a number of extremely high-powered offensive teams."

Missouri improved from 124th nationally in offense the year before Heupel arrived to 13th last year and seventh this season, averaging 511.5 yards and 39.3 points per game.

UCF also announced that Heupel is hiring former Florida defensive coordinator Randy Shannon to the same position.

Shannon served as the Gators' interim head coach after Jim McElwain was fired. He also served as Miami's head coach from 2007 to 2010 after serving as the school's defensive coordinator.

"Randy is someone who I have always had a great deal of respect for throughout the years," Heupel said. "Seeing what he's been able to do with defenses, in addition to his ability to recruit this state, it's extremely special and will be invaluable to our staff."

Yep. Let the kid get downhill so he can protect himself. Plus those type qbs been running their whole life so they are used to it.

I'm pro set for life, but it's time to move on.

I will be concerned about our qb safety until something changes. Watch the tape of Lamar Jackson against Houston last year. Five step drop can be problematic for the most elusive of qbs.

Would have really liked to have seen some type of option for Rosier outside of zone read. He ain't Vick but he made some great runs this year.
