Terrance/Rob/Roach...we have booked our flights from Orlando to Dallas on Southwest Airlines to arrive on Friday morning early on 8/31 and leave on Tuesday afternoon late on 9/4. Only $265 R/T and bags fly free so that was a bargain. We happy!

86Cane

Terrance...we are staying at another hotel on Friday and Saturday and then checking out Sunday to stay at then LQ on Sunday and Monday. Please confirm our reservation at LQ?

BigWindyCane1

Interesting: Shane Larkin and Lonnie Walker IV, were both selected #18 in the first round of the NBA Draft. I think walker landed in a great spot. With Kawhi Leonard likely leaving this season or at the end of this season, Walker will have every opportunity to develop into that next

Two NBA draft picks in the same draft. What an accomplishment for the Canes. I think Brown could have benefited from another healthy season, but he was still drafted and can play in the NBA.

Terrance Sullivan

86 That is correct. LQ in nearby Grand Prairie. On Friday and Saturday! LQ in Arlington on Sunday and Monday!

Harry Miller

86, I will be near Arlington on the Tuesday 28th.
Did you get two tickets for me? Looking forward to meeting up with all of you.
I have a few photo's to send of us with Canespace
shirt at Cowboy stadium. Send me an email so I can send them to you. I am really looking forward to this game.

No that is not what I meant. Maria and I have made reservations for another hotel in Dallas downtown area for Friday and Saturday nights. We do not need a hotel for those nights, so you can cancel us at LQ Grand Prairie.

The LQ reservation we do need was for Sunday and Monday night at the LQ Arlington hotel with shuttle to/from the game. Please confirm and call or text me later today or tonight.

86Cane

Harry...I will buy your tickets today as close to us as possible although it will not be exactly in the same row. More info tonight.

Go Canes!!

Interesting:

A few surprise picks for "the team not named Alabama or Clemson" that could make a case to be preseason No. 1 on @ESPNUonSiriusXM this morning.

Miami and Washington.

What do ya think?

(888) 573-5335 to join me and @GregMcElroy

Terrance Sullivan

86 I got it covered Brotha!

Terrance Sullivan

86 I got you and Mrs. 86 booked at LQ in Arlington for Sunday and Monday Nights. I have already cancelled the LQ in Grand Prairie on Friday and Saturday for y'all!

Great deal Soup! Can’t wait!

Harry Miller

86, I will be in Mansfield just south of Arlington
about 30 minutes from AT&T stadium. Let me know when and where and I will meet you. I have a car so I can meet you anytime, anywhere.

Thank you.

86Cane

OK, Harry. When do you arrive?

BigWindyCane1

Canespace headed to Dallas to play in the next biggest game of the CMR era. Can’t wait to see the photos from Dallas.

BigWindyCane1

GC,
Looks like Greg McElroy and ESPN giving the Canes some love. I can see that special season under CMR happening in this third season, but IMO it all depends on the quality of the QB play. Will MR12 step up and improve over last season or will we see PERRY, Weldon or WILLIAMS step in and give the Canes the solid QB play this Top 10 football team deserves.

It makes me smile to think how far we have come from:

Some photos may have to be edited to protect the guilty. Could be some serious "collusion" going on!

Good article TC

There needs to be some serious retribution dealt out on LSU

Terrance Sullivan

I was at that bleep Show in Atlanta. I remember it like yesterday. That was the official start of our decade of mediocrity. Beating LSU in Arlington on Sunday September 2nd would also validate the end of the mediocrity stretch!

orange 'n green in the vein

Smart Mark is 4-4 overall against LSU with an average score of 27.6 for to 27.7 against including the 1-2 record in SEC title games. That's in a series that LSU leads historically 16-13-1 and he's coached UGA both to a largest margin of victory ever at +29 in '04 regular season game and the highest point total for a UGA offense with 52 in the road game of '08. The two losses to Saban's champs in the 2003 season deserves notation because most teams don't play two games against the team that takes home the trophy in a single season, as does the fact that all this was compiled while having a deficit in NFL players to only LSU during his career in Athens with four less NFL selection caliber players and three less 1st round selection caliber players over his time in the SEC than Mike's tigers.

So it's not going to be the coaching if the season doesn't start off the right way.

OGV in da house!

💯

BigWindyCane1

I think OGV just complemented CMR!

IMO, the Canes have more NFL picks on their current roster than LSU, or any other team on the Canes’ schedule. Some of that is attributable to CMR’s recruiting, and some of that is attributable to CMR’s player development. Last season was a great step because it’s the first ten-win season for the Canes in a decade. With all the players who are returning and “Smart Mark”running things, 2018-19 should be a special season for our Miami Hurricanes!

Interesting article about recruiting South Florida. It seems to be consistent with what we are observing.

Diaz: We Don't Care About Recruit Rankings
ByANDREW IVINS Jun 26, 8:04 PM

For the better part of the past two months Miami has moved in and out of the Top 10 on the industry-genreated 247Sports Composite Team Rankings. One week the Hurricanes are in the Top 5, they next week they aren't.

While some fans are worried about where UM stands almost six months before the Early Signing Period, the decision makers in Coral Gables don't appear to be all that concerned about what the experts think about their class at this point in the cycle. Miami defensive coordinator Manny Diaz told 560WQAM's The Joe Rose Show on Tuesday that Mark Richt and his assistant coaches aren't looking at the stars listed next to kid's names and instead focused on keeping top talent home.

"Some people want to dominate the recruiting rankings," Diaz said. "We want to dominate South Florida. And if we dominate South Florida, what history shows is when Miami dominates South Florida then Miami dominates the world in the fall. That’s the only rankings we care about – where we get ranked the first week in January. We know the path to it because we’ve seen it done before. If we continue on that path good things are going to happen.”

The Hurricanes have picked commitments from Vero Beach defensive end Jahfari Harvey, Opa Locka Carol City cornerback Jarvis Brownlee, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas defensive tackle Jason Munoz and Hollywood Chaimade-Madonna cornerback Te'Cory Couch all in the past month. Only one of those prospects – Couch – is a consensus four-star recruit. The other three are billed as three-stars. All four however reside south of Orlando and within a two-and-a-half-hour drive from Miami's campus.

"Sometimes guys don't go through campus because of injury. Sometimes the schools down here are so talented they may have four starters in the secondary that all go D-1, so they may have a guy that didn’t even start his junior year who may be an amazing player. That’s why South Florida players have always been underrated. They have. It's never changed since the ‘80s. If you can play on these fields down here in Dade, Broward and Palm Beach County, you can play and it doesn't matter how many stars you have attached to your name or what the interest says about you."

NCAA rules prohibit from Diaz speaking about specific prospective student-atheltes, but it's easy to figure out which prospects he's referencing. Munoz missed all of last season after with a broken fibula. Brownlee spent most of his junior campaign rotating with three FBS signees in a loaded Carol City secondary. Harvey played independent league football at lowly Fort Pierce John Carroll.

Diaz went on to add that he thinks that Miami's dedication to recruiting South Florida is starting to pay off and in a big way.

"What we’re seeing now the third time through the cycle is our commitment to being the choice of all the kids down here," Diaz said. "These kids were 9th graders when Coach Richt got here. These kids have short memories, that’s probably about what they remember about Miami football. Their friends now are 'Canes, because the kids we took two years ago from a Broward County school, Dade County school, they’re here. And they want to be with their friends. You can go from being the place where the kids don’t want to go to the place where kids do want to go quickly. And people can see our intentions."

86Cane

Man, I love me some Manny Diaz!

Go Canes!!

Excellent article.

Imo we are going to lose a top recruit or two every year here. There is way too much recruiting pressure down here.

We just have to get our share of elite guys year in and out and continue to keep the Friersons, Garvins and Joe Jackson’s we have here every season. Awesome recruits who may not get as much national exposure.

Vinnie update:

Testaverde is currently the quarterbacks coach at Jesuit High School of Tampa, where his son Vincent, Jr. attended. With all of his kids off at college, Testaverde and his wife Mitzi decided it was time to downsize from their 12,323-square-foot mansion in Tampa Bay. If you’re interested in purchasing Vinny’s home, it will cost you a cool $4.99 million.

Old Skool

Hmm I think I know a realtor that could handle the sale.

In other news ...

Only seven college sports programs in the country brought in more money in 2016-17 than the Florida Gators, according to data collected by USA Today.

UF had $149 million in revenue, according to the paper's report. That trails Texas ($215 million), Texas A&M ($212 million), Ohio State ($185 million), Michigan ($185 million), Alabama ($174 million), Georgia ($158 million) and Oklahoma ($155 million).

Florida State raked in $144.5 million. That's 13th on USA Today's list but far behind the Aggies. Consider that another data point why Jimbo Fisher left Tallahassee for A&M.
