Solar, great blog.

Legion, BRILLIANT WORK.

86, BY THE END OF THIS CALENDAR YEAR YOU'LL BE MAKING MONEY FROM THIS PUPPY! You heard it here first. Vault it!

I see my aces Dallas, Canez 1, CoCane, and Calvin are back in full effect. Where's Vince, DJ Moonbat, Daddeh, Troutman et al...

Zakk, I think you're going to get your wish. The SoFl ALL-STARS. Aqua, you said it best..."They'll OWN the NCAA."

I also like seeing all the new names. But ladies and gents, don't just read, SPEAK YOUR PEACE!!!

To speak directly to the subject of this blog, I believe the difference between the all-world HS players and the college greats/flops, is coaching and the college environment itself.

Let's face it, the Jerry Rice's, Emmitt Smith's, Michael Irvin's and Jerome Brown's, and Randy Shannon's of the world are very rare.

Most players, like most people, ARE VERY DEPENDENT ON THEIR ENVIRONMENT.

That's why some so-called 3-Star HS players excel and why so many so-called 5-star kids flop in college and never make it to the NFL.

It's also possible that the 5-Star recruits get lazy and the 3-Stars get hungrier. It would be interesting to do a study following 12 HS players all of whom go D-1, and see how they handle the mental and physical challenges on the next level.

All told, however, the one constant across the board in oUr recent slide was the mental-midget at the helm.

Now that we have a proven champion, on and off the field, we should expect our players to reflect his style and habits.

It is all in the head, after all.

86, my quote to the rest of college football is STRAP UP!...not STRAP IT UP. (Small adjustment...lol)

86, OGV should have his own Vault. Too many classic, stream of consciousness quotes from him to put with everyone else's.

CoCane is a straight up comedian. lol

Solar is a comedian too, but also a philosopher, like Steven Wright. Does anyone remember Steven Wright??? The funniest comedian I've ever heard....but he was too eclectic to go mainstream.

Also, I think you should let a blog sit for a few days before posting a new one.

There's a great deal of information here and it's fun to read and react leisurely. Just a thought.....

Love the new and improved vault, '86. Saving my stuff for closer to the season . . .

Cav,
Steven Wright is the funniest human being to walk the planet.
Who else skates on the other side of the ice?

Good point Cav,
I have to do layouts on construction sites most days and I don't get a chance to read all the posts. Letting it ferment is a good idea.

I just sent 86 my next piece for Hey Is This Thing On?
Hope he gets a chance to put it up this week.

I totally agree...anyone here who reads and is hesitant to post, go for it! We get sooooo many first time posts saying "I read all the time but rarely or never post". C'mon, this is your site, your chance.

For the Fans, By the Fans! Let's Go Canes.....

Gentlemen thanks for making this blog happen. I think it is the coaches job to push these players mentally and physically to a point where they are absolutely amazed that they can push through with anything the coaches dishes out. This will build an enormous amount of confidence which is needed on the offensive side of the ball. Most players on this team are true atheletes and when some come in with the hype they began to believe it. They are more than likely thinking they can come in and get the job done without the hard work. If the coaches fail to push them and they aren't self motivated they will fail. We have seen it the last few years. There must be strong leaders on this team that hold others accountable. Most people are products of their environments. One would hope that if the leaders are studying and trying to make the team better so will the others. I also know the players will take on the attitude of the coaches so I am expecting nothing less than an undefeated season. Go Canes!
