2nd No?

long live ron mexico!

happy birthday soupcan.

Your birthday 86? Happy birthday, and thanks again for this awesome site.

Old Skool

Since everyone else is doing the numbers cliche ... Froofraraw!

Things to be positive about:
1. New DC for 08 season...like the saying goes "offense score points, but defense win championships".

2. We're finally getting a football player at the QB position.

3. No promises of playing time to recruits...you have to earn playing time, no matter who you are.

4. We will win 9 games at a minimun next season, but because I'm a 12%er I say we go undefeated.

5. Kicking Urban Cryer azz in recruiting.

Soup!! Happy Birthday!! Long Live and prosper!

Cumpleano Feliz Ocho Seis!

Hey Fellas,

I Know I harp on this a lot but I think the Media SERIOUSLY have a problem with THE U and atheletes from UM.

I was just looking at MSNBC which was showing the funniest mess-ups of 2007 and they showed a clip about Kevin Everit (the Bills TE) moving his legs and arms for the first time in his recovery from his spinal cord injury. However, the person in the clip wasn't KE; instead it was a clip of a crimminal - in a wheel chair - in some court room - who began kicking and swinging his arms (at the lawyers, cops, etc.): when this was showed simutaniously as the reporter mentioned that KE "moved his legs and arms for the first time . . .".

Here is the clip, you be the judge:

long live ron mexico!

soup's gone international. he's got a visitor from china and another from korea, republic of.

Here was the actual clip that was suppose to be funny and frankly - I don't believe that news room made a mistake:

What do you expect from West Palm Beach, it's Gator country. The Gators run both the electronic and written media industry in Palm Beach County.

Happy birthday 86!! Thanx for this amazing site......

生日快乐86 (Happy Birthday 86)from your China connection. That would be me, 66cane. I have been living and working in Shenzhen, China for about five years now. Its been a long road since graduation day in 1966, and just about all that road has bypassed the USA. Maybe one day it will lead me back home.

The most important thing to be positive about is simply the "U".

Happy B-Day 86!

Happy Birthday 86!

86, - before I forget:

midwest what did the article say??

Midwest it sure sounds like it!!!!!

He wants to help Miami get back to where we were. Can't wait...

It sure sounds like he's a cane!

Play the Fresh- did you see the article yet?

what did it say?

I think we are going to have a big day at the army all-american game!!

He's excited about the class coming in.
He would help recruit if needed.
He wants to be part of the group that brings the Canes back.
But he's still listening to the LSU coach, because you need something to fall back on.
And that he can't wait for signing day!

diehard texas fan

Happy B-Day 86, my birthday was yesterday.
Go Canes & Go Capricorns!!

So should we believe the article about PJ? Anything new on Patchen?

Hope everybody is having a happy holiday out there.

A close associate confirms UM coach Randy Shannon would love to lure Florida co-defensive coordinator Charlie Strong or Georgia defensive coordinator and ex-Cane Willie Martinez for his defensive coordinator job. But UM doesn't offer huge money to assistants. UCLA defensive coordinator DeWayne Walker also is being mentioned as a candidate. . . . Ex-Canes lineman Matt Patchan said Monday his highly coveted son, offensive tackle Matt, is still strongly considering UM, as well as UF and LSU, with a decision due shortly. . . .

Thanks to everyone who wished me a Happy Birthday! I'm now officially done with 2007 and looking forward to 2008. We will be sitting in TNP Stadium before you know it! Until then we have the undefeated Canes BB team and then Baseball to keep us going.

Canespace Schedule:

Friday: Hogshead interview by Solar.

Sunday: Canes Basketball article by 86.

Tuesday: LIVE chat with Manny.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY 86!!! And thank you for giving all of us Canes a place to meet, greet, talk, blog etc. every day of the year. What a wonderful present you gave to all of us.

12-0 Hurricanes Move into Top 20

Hurricanes earn highest ranking since March 2002.

Dec. 24, 2007

CORAL GABLES, FLA. - The undefeated University of Miami men's basketball team continues its climb in the rankings and is No. 19 in both the AP Top 25 and the USA Today/ESPN Top 25 Coaches Poll released today.

It marks the second-straight week the Hurricanes have been ranked among the nation's top-25 teams, and is the highest ranking for Miami since earning a No. 16 ranking by the ESPN/USA Today Poll on March 3, 2002, and No. 17 ranking by the Associated Press on Feb. 18, 2002.

It also marks the highest ranking for a Miami squad this early in the season.

Last week the then-22nd ranked Hurricanes won three-straight games by an average of 30 points an outing.

No. 19 Miami returns to competition on Sat., Dec. 29, taking on Winthrop in the first game of the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic at the BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Fla., at 4 p.m. Winthrop (6-5), who advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament as an 11-seed last season, comes off Friday's 62-59 win over Old Dominion. Temple and Florida will meet in the tournament's second game, scheduled to begin at approximately 6:30 p.m.

Tickets for the MetroPCS Orange Bowl Basketball Classic begin at $15 and are available for purchase through the Orange Bowl Committee Ticket Office (305-341-4701) or online at Ticketmaster.com.

MaryLou...Thanks! Developing Canespace was the best part of my 2007. Can't wait to see what 2008 brings...

86 - happy birthday - if my math serves me correctly you won't be 86 untill 2050! Hopefully, Canespace will still be going strong...thanks for the syber fix.

Sarasota 'Cane

I checked the Miami Herald, Sun Sentinel, Palm Beach Post, and Rivals Wire this am and there have been no new articles since Sunday!! That's why we come here!!

If I check Canespace 4 times a day I will at least get the opinions of my peers when there is no news to report.

I hate this time of year for news about The U!! Especially since we are not in a bowl game!!

Anyway thanks again 86 for putting together "this little thing of ours"! It truly is a 'Canes thing, no one else understands!!

Go 'Canes!!

The pleasure has been all mine!

For the Fans, By The Fans...doesn't get any better than that!

I herd that Matt Patchan got his lunch ate up by Jonathan Jackson #48 for BOOKER T WASHINGTON VS, ARMWOOD in the finals, Tore his butt up!!! They said; He had 3 sacks against him, 5 solo tackles, 8 asst, 1 force fumble,

If Matt Patchan does not come to the U, then He has noo balls for what he had said earlier about the UM program in the year...

He'll have an Alligator Mouth with an Honey bird A$$ if he doesnt committ

LMAO, I havent heard this saying in a long time.

PJ is a Cane boys, I believe:

"Your thoughts on the recruiting class that Hurricanes Head Coach Randy Shannon is putting together? At the moment (Dec. 26th) is rated 4th in the nation by Rivals.com.

"I am excited about the other players that they are bringing in. We are going to have the chance to be a special team in the years to come. I can't wait to get there and I can't wait for Signing Day and to just get it done."

Are you helping Miami recruit other top prep players to come and join you in Coral Gables?

"Exactly. You can never have too many good players in your program so if the coaching staff asks me to do that, then that is what I am doing."

Do you feel like you will be apart of the resurgence of Hurricane football and do you hope you can help bring Miami back to the glory days of the past?

"I want to help put them back on the map, plain and simple. I want to help get them (Miami) back to where they were when they didn't lose a lot of football games."

How do you deal with the other schools that are still calling you and recruiting you?

"You have to listen to what they have to say because you never know what you could fall back on because you never know what could happen. You have to have a back-up plan. You just don't leave the other coaches alone, you ask the questions you want to know and answer the questions that they are asking you.

"(Tigers assistant coach Earl Lane) is still one me. He is a very tough recruiter. I like him; he is a real down to earth type of guy. We kind of hit it off and the thing I like is that he tells me the truth. I am still listening to what they (Lane and LSU) are saying." "

who hear went to the Armwood / BTW game? Anyone notice how Pathan did?

Julio...Not to worry, I'm in good with the boss. I am self employed, so if I get "fired" I'd have to fire myself!

Este...I think six was there. I tried to find stats at the FHSAA site but haven't had any luck yet.

soupster, send you an edit note to your email.
have a great day
see ya tonite

este- supposively Jonathen Jackson#48 BOOKER T. WASHINGTON tore him up.
Does anyone have info on this guy

MNW officially named #1, honors for Harris:

M.H., I saw the comment saying he supposedly got tore up, that's why I wanted to know if anyone was actually there and saw how he did. You know how the "friend of friend told me" things work out usually.

PJ has never said anything that would indicate he's not 100% solid. Sometimes I think all the waffling is more from us and the media. And some comments his father makes that don't necessarily jive with what PJ says. But that may just the way his dad chooses his wording. I think he's a Cane and that's the end of it.

Manny was at the BTW-Armwood game. I sent him an email for more info on how Patchan did, but it sounds like the BTW defense had their way against Armwood and big Matt.

Here is what Manny wrote after the game (he mentions Jackson):

Este...here's the most info I could find (from Manny at the Miami Herald):

After Armwood quarterback Mywan Jackson scored on a 2-yard keeper with 9:47 left in the first quarter to put Armwood ahead 7-0, though, Booker T.'s defense put the clamps down on the Hawks' vaunted running attack.

Armwood, which came in averaging 286 yards on the ground in the playoffs, was held to 97 yards rushing on 26 attempts in the game and only three first downs in the first half.

The front seven, led by ends Jonathan Jackson and Rodney Gustave, tackles Kambriel Willis and Kanavis Ritchie and linebacker Tarvis Pullins, repeatedly dropped Armwood's Eric Smith in the backfield for losses. The runs up the middle by Matt Eastman also stuffed.

LOL good job Hurricane Mitch - here is a positive bullet - I won't have to sit in the stands and say "Come on Kyle" or "douuughhh Kirby" in 2008.... nor will those around me have to hear me :-D

Is Jackson a senior. Who is recruiting him?
