"Meanwhile, former Florida running backs coach Stan Drayton made a splash in Knoxville, Tenn., when he was interviewed about leaving Florida. Drayton said he had a confrontational discussion with Meyer about leaving Florida for division rival Tennessee."

OK 86 - it doesn't come up where I can vote - is it supposed to?

Norm...pay sites only, particularly Canesport. Free sites are fair game.
WE post a lot of material from the official University of Miami web site at www.hurricanesports.com to help support the Hurricanes Athletic Department and promote ticket sales.
But pay sites such as Scout and Rivals are opposed to cutting and pasting material from their sites. Scout has some free stuff that we use, but not the pay stuff.

I guess no package deal for D. Andrews and J. Harper. Harper is going to sign with Clemson as well, with J. Davis leaving for the draft Jamie sees an opportunity to compete for early playing time.

Meyer confronts coach about leaving for Vols
By BRYAN MULLEN
Staff Writer
KNOXVILLE — Tennessee football fans may be happy Stan Drayton is the team's new running backs coach.
Florida Coach Urban Meyer is certainly not.
Drayton made that clear on Wednesday night when he met with the media for the first time since accepting the position on the UT staff. Drayton, 36, spent the last three seasons as the Gators' running backs coach and is considered one of the nation's best recruiters.
"We talked about it," Drayton said of a recent conversation he had with Meyer. "I can't go into too much detail about that. The conversation was a little rough, a little rocky."
During a Florida coaches meeting earlier this week, Meyer learned of the UT offer and decided to cut the meeting short and talk one-on-one with Drayton.
"He pulled me in the office and said, 'I'm all about having a fresh start but that's Tennessee,' " Drayton recalled. "I said, 'Yeah, coach. It's Tennessee.' He said, 'That's our rival now. That makes things a little confusing here, a little tough.' "
Drayton said cooler heads prevailed when the big picture was discussed.
"Eventually we broke down what was really important," Drayton said.
"Is it Tennessee-Florida, or is it all about career movement and family? For me it came down to what was best for my family and myself. That's why I'm here."
Drayton, who described his recruiting style as very aggressive, replaces Kurt Roper, who was recently named offensive coordinator at Duke.
"We did a significant amount of research on (Drayton), as he probably did on us before he chose to come here," Fulmer said. "Everybody had wonderful things to say about him, not only as a coach, but as a person."
Drayton also noted that one of the factors in his decision to leave Florida dealt with the limited role of the running back in Meyer's spread option offense.
"If you're going to be a running backs coach, you want to be part of a system that involves the running back," Drayton said.
Financial terms have not been disclosed. He made $135,000 at Florida this past year and was the Gators' lowest-paid assistant coach. Roper was scheduled to make $150,000 this year at UT.

*** That's the full article again for those of you who haven't heard. Now that Harper is visting Florida this weekend, i wonder how Meyer is going to weasel his way out of this one. No running backs coach, He doesn't use the Rbs that much, Tebow and harvey is Florida's offense and praticuly a two man show. Yeah Harper, it's between US and CLEMSON.

Killer, yeah, that's what I saw on TOS.
No real loss though. I'd rather have an OL or another DL personally.
We're loaded at RB and not having one this year makes it more enticing for Bryce Brown next year.

Trout, if we could steal Strong that would be so beautiful....lol
Personally, I don't know why Strong wants to stay. He's been demoted. He'll never receive credit for what he does because of Oscar's ego and if he stays he'll eventually be on the Mickey Andrews plan.
If he has any aspirations to move up the ladder he needs to leave.

86, sounds like you're having some growing pains. lol It's a good thing though.

Cav I totally agree, lets get another DL or more importantly an OL. Hopefully we pull in Brandon Harris, that would be the ultimate sign as of right now. What was the deal on the NW player? Is there any truth to the positions being filled in this week? Somebody help me, help me please..(William Jones, Friday).

The EE from MNW is what I'm asking?

& RB Lamar Smith in '09. Also RB Eduardo Clement from Booker T. in 2010, I love the way he runs...was just a sophomore.
Posted by: Zakkee | January 14, 2008 at 09:59 AM
i like how Drayton put it. "If you're going to be a running backs coach, you want to be part of a system that involves the running back". So all RB recruits why are you looking at UF?

From the previous...LSU smoke?????
"A Michigan booster has informed The Jock Rap.com that LSU head football coach Les Miles and the University could be facing an investigation into serious NCAA recruiting violations in the coming year. According to the source, violations were made during the last two recruiting seasons and stem from specific incidents allegedly taking place on the national college signing day over the past several years.
The source went on to say that the University of Michigan’s Athletic Department was made aware of the possible violations committed by Miles, causing the Wolverines to back off their pursuit of him. If the allegations are true, it would certainly validate the rumors circulating - that for years Les Miles’ recruiting practices have been questionable. We will let you know more as we hear it.
As for the NCAA’s pursuit of the violations, we are confident something will be made public in the coming months, but not holding our breaths. USC has been skirting punishment for alleged recruiting violations with a number of high profile players - including Joe McKnight - for a number of years.

'Offensive in nature' now there's a slippery slope.

Cav...it's all good! I'm just trying to do the right thing here, be fair to all and play the political games that need to be played to be successful and get us to the next level. You being a wise and forward thinking man yourself, I'm sure U can understand?
Posted by: 86Cane | January 14, 2008 at 10:02 AM
Thats a GREAT question Este, I honestly dont get it. Everyone who watches them play can see that they dont use the RB position that often.
Posted by: KillerBeez41 | January 14, 2008 at 10:03 AM
Also for anyone who didn't see it the last blog, apparently PJ's ACT score shot up from 13 to 26 over the course of a few weeks.
This meant he didn't to take the FCAT or something like that.
What's that smell???? lol
B. Harris and TJ Bryant come on down.
Posted by: Cavaleer | January 14, 2008 at 10:05 AM
86, I understand it perfectly.
I think you handled the entire Rudy situation superbly.
Bravo to you, my friend.
Posted by: Cavaleer | January 14, 2008 at 10:06 AM
Este and Killer, they go because they're 17 year old young men and are thus impressionable and easily deceived....ALTHOUGH, Oscar's stink is starting to catch up with him, inside and outside.
It would be so perfect if we could nab Strong.
TOS is reporting he's NOT interested, however.
We'll see...
Coaches lie and 17-yr olds lie and don't know either. lol
Posted by: Cavaleer | January 14, 2008 at 10:10 AM
Skool...if anyone complains then we are obligated to try to address the problem and try to stop it when and where we can.
Gary at Canesport has a legitimate gripe. I can understnd his complaint. He loses money when his content is taken and posted elsewhere.
I don't believe that UM minds when we post their stuff because we always give them credit, post a link to their site and help to promote UM Athletics and sell tickets. UM MAKES money from this activitiy. They have NOT complained. So, no harm, no foul.
Posted by: 86Cane | January 14, 2008 at 10:12 AM
Gary needs to show some evidence as to how he loses money. Those who wait to read it on a blog wouldn't pay for it anyway.
Posted by: Esteban | January 14, 2008 at 10:18 AM
I don't know what's going on with these early enrollees, but someone over at UM better get this straightened out. If they keep screwing around with these kids on entrance procedures when every other school gets them in like crap through a goose, it will start to hurt recruiting. This has been going on for many years now. Its a problem.
Posted by: Mephistopheles | January 14, 2008 at 10:20 AM
Cav...all I will say is if I could let you read my email and see what happens behind the scenes you would be surprised, VERY surprised. There is a lot of work being done that nobody here on the blog ever sees.
Content is one thing, cleaning up "situations" that occur is another. I will not go into details but suffice it to say that there are more "situations" than are evident on the blog. And a lot of relationship building and developing trust that takes place behind the scenes.
I had no idea running a blog could be this complicated. Shoot, when I started the blog I didn't even know if anyone would read it! Now I know just about EVERYONE reads the blob, I mean blog...

but i don't think its too much asking for people to summarize instead of copy and paste. its one less headache to deal with. but their reasoning is some b.s. people probably have canesport subscriptions for the info off the message boards more than for the info in the articles.
Posted by: Esteban | January 14, 2008 at 10:27 AM
I dont think it is illegal to copy and paste free info as long as you state where the info is coming from.

anybody know anything about robinsons visit to free sneakers university or who the recruit of ours that is being pursued by florida?

I wouldn't pay to read Scouts or Rivals rumors, but I would pay to read Solar, see example below:
Truth,
Not naming any names, but after reading lots of media writers I have come to the following conclusion:
I could eat a bowl of Alphabits and shyt a better article than a lot of them.
peace

Yep, had to happen sooner or later. I think the blog has matured enough to handle just about anything.
Strong, our DC hopefully by tomorrow, is probably still having a "conversation" the Oscar Meyer about his UM offer. If Meyer blew his top with a position coach leaving for Tenesses, he must have had meltdown when heard about Strong leaving..LOL
Strong would give RS an experienced "voice" that he could respect that would balance the youth of this coaching group.
Posted by: rubcatcane | January 14, 2008 at 10:40 AM
just from observing...if UF loses Strong to us. Then that means they have lost 3 coaches. Just my opinion...it seems like Meyer plays favorites up there and some of the coaches are like forget this, im out of here.
Strong...come on down. Coach a REAL defense.
Posted by: Jake | January 14, 2008 at 10:46 AM
its nice to see that the guys leaving also happen to be the strongest recruiters on staff.

We have all worked for a person who takes all the credit and blames everyone else for failures-- Oscar Meyer...I don't think the coaches leaving the Gators is a coincidence.
