Of Texas! Here is what the Canes hope to do: put a dagger deep into the heart of the Longhorns on their way to the Sweet Sixteen. The Canes rounders have already exceeded all expectations this year and are looking to add a little icing on the cake by beating Texas in their second round match-up.
The Canes "Jack Attack" offense (courtesy of SuperCooper) is locked and loaded and ready to shoot down the Horns. If they can get Lance "over the" Hurdle and Jimmy "Graham Cracker Crust" to throw in there is no reason they can't win and advance to the round of 16.
And if U had any doubts, Randall Hill, AKA as The Texas Killer, called Canespace tonight and said: "Score six and take it into the tunnel!" If anyone knows how to score on Texas it would be Randal "Thrill" Hill. The former Miami Killian Cougar and Hurricanes star is remembered for his run into the tunnel against the 'Horns.
As we like to say here on The 'Space: Score here, Score often!
Then, all of a sudden, out of the blue, Kristi Yamaguchi showed up and also threw her two cents into the mix. Some Canespacers asked what the heck was she thinking?
But, as you all know Kristi is already Dancing with the Stars and hopes the Canes can do the same with a victory over Texas. Kristi shows up, predicts a UM victory and the Canes win. It's just that simple, right?
GO CANES, BEAT TEXAS!!!
I Got 1st Dibbs Go CANES!!!!!!

That's not Henry, that's just St. Mary's wondering why we're so much better than them...
Manny! what's up? Enjoying Arkansas? There's some excitement on campus for those people "in the know"... unfortunately many people are apathetic
Posted by: Loco | March 22, 2008 at 11:22 PM
Manny, I believe somebody on the previous blog had a question about who was covering football while you're away...
But I think basketball takes priority right now. What's the team's attitude like? Are they happy to have won one (like the ACC tourney) or are they hungry for more?
Posted by: Loco | March 22, 2008 at 11:25 PM
Just got back from the Gables where we were watching the Stanford vs. Marquette game since we were rained out. I'm told a double will start tomorrow @ 10AM, but have plans and can't make it. I'm hyped for the scrimmage next week, but Aqua and other may be going to the GA TECH games in April. TECH fans will sound something in between retarded and choking when we're done w/ them.
We need to take advantage of our size tomorrow and grind them inside and kickout when needed.
GO CANES!!!

A: Just had 19-ounce steak over at Bill Clinton's favorite restaurant -- Doe's Eat Place. Delish! Last night Shandel and I were chilling with some St. Mary's dancers. Only in Little Rock!

A: I would assume Susan would be at football. It kind of sucks I have to miss practice -- but its great to be here watching the Canes basketball team put themselves on the map. Team is definitely happy about winning one. I get the feeling though they really believe they can win tomorrow.

Hi Manny! Did you talk to any of the team today? What is your impression?
Posted by: CanesgirlNC | March 22, 2008 at 11:28 PM
sup Manny. i'm actually not feeling too good about this one and i'm usually one of the optimist. my main concern is our big men gettin bullied down low. i'm hoping they show some serious heart. right now the only one i know will be fighting back is Graham. i'm hoping King's pride forces him to really grind with the texas guys. I think him and Collins are more skilled than the UT big men but not as consistently aggressive. i think double AA (augustin and abrams) will get their points but if we can control the boards and get their inside guys in foul trouble thats our best shot at winning this one. i'm just not optimistic our guys will be up to that challenge.

Manny, I read an article that Jack was under the weather earlier in the week and he was given meds for the St. Mary game. Is he over it now or still sick?

Q: Hi Manny! Did you talk to any of the team today? What is your impression? Posted by: CanesgirlNC | March 22, 2008 at 11:28 PM
Hey Canesgirl. Spent 30 minutes in the UM locker room today. Guys are thrilled to be where they are at. I'm actually in the process of uploading all of my audio interviews now at The Herald. It's going to be a hell of a challenge. They are going to need a Duke-like effort to win tomorrow, no doubt. Texas is very good.
Posted by: Manny Navarro | March 22, 2008 at 11:35 PM
Esteban I think all of your points are on the money. I was joking with the UM staff today they ought to hire somebody to punch Dwayne Collins right before the game to see if it will wake him up and get him angry. Miami needs Collins to provide some offense tomorrow, no doubt.

A: He's still on antibiotics. But he says he feels a lot better. He had a fever and didn't practice all week until Thursday. I think he showed Friday he's just fine.

Manny, btw - your other blog article when you were still in Charlotte and describing the ACC Tourney experience - I totally got that. I was amazed at how many people hung out and watched all the tourney games whether it was their team or not. I talked to a couple of families that make it a family event every year. Just alot of positive energy all the way around - I met lots of nice people.

This UCLA-Texas A&M game is great.

A: I think its awesome UM is in the ACC. There are a lot of nice people out there. And it means so much to them to be a part of the conference. The tradition, everything. I think if UM fans would embrace it they'll really start to enjoy college basketball. I mean this team they have now is just great, a real feel good story.

Navaro! If McGowan is like my idol The Worm, then it begs the question: What color is his hair dyed? Also, I 2nd that punching of Collins. This is the game where it's time for the X-factor to make himself be heard and feared.

Viola Wins National Championship In Platform Diving
Sophomore scores a 362.60 for UM's fourth women's diving title
March 22, 2008
COLUMBUS, Ohio - University of Miami sophomore Brittany Viola became just the third women's diver in UM history to win an NCAA Championship with a first place finish of 362.60 in the platform finals of the 2008 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Ohio State University's McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion Saturday.
Viola joins Jenny Keim, who owns UM's two most recent titles with wins in the 10-meter platform in 2000 and the three-meter springboard in 1999, and Wendy Williams, who won the program's first championship in the 1999 platform, as the only Hurricanes to have won an NCAA women's diving title.

Thank the guy above for the blessing we have (Baseball and Basketball) during this quite time of no-news Shannon... not that he can tell us anything, but what can he say at this point... The guys are bust'n their tail and learning to play at 100 percent! We ask... Who's going to start?... Well, let see who's not hurt first and then.... Wait till all of the freshmen get here and then Wait till Game Day!
Up- Date Baseball... Canes 7/2 bottom of the 3rd inning, 1 out, Time out... pitcher change.
Canes baby!
I love Football, but I hate this time of the year, when all we have to talk about is history or who made a catch at practice or what time does a player get up in the morning and what they had for breakfast... Give me strength!!! Give me something to be more creative on the abstract, cause I'm in pain... I want to see it live, not sit here playing mental masturbation of.. can we beat Florida... Screw That! I'm sitting here drooling, waiting for the game to begin while listening to the TIC TOC clanging away in my head, is maddening to me...
Thanks for listening,... I feel better now... Oh, I hear the bell ringing, I'm going to take my meds now... Talk to you junkies later. LOL

Speaking of Tick-tock, Frank Solich's old boss needs to get that extension done for Haith like yesterday. South Carolina needs a new coach, they might be in Haith's hotel room in Little Rock right now trying to come to terms on a deal for him to jump ship for all we know! It is imperative that the barely middle aged AD get on the ball before somebody else steals the 2nd greatest coach in UM basketball history right out from under him. It's one thing when GM #23 steals from you, quite another when it's South Cackalacky pulling off the larceny.

What the hell happened to the fine orange and green wearing women in the upper-left-corner 86? The amount of soft-core erotica for the discerning male Hurricane fan on this site has dropped considerably recently. I do not consider this a good thing. It's really a simple equation:
HOT WOMEN IN ORANGE AND GREEN = +1,000,000,000
Prominent displays of burnt orange and cow horns = -10,000,000
I'll be back later, I'm going back through the archives to find CGNC's green dress picture.
