Canes were tied with BC 14-14 in the 4th qtr...how is that dominance??

dominance is more like wut Oklahoma did to us..not BC.

SOUP

Brian...so you are saying 9-3 for the Canes in 2008?

Do you also think that the leading reciever for the Canes will be...

SOUP

Brian hows that BC baseball team? Basketball? Cheerleaders???

The College Baseball Blog

Not a BC basketball supporter at all...Cheerleaders are weak in New England compared to South Florida area.

AvaCane96

still not dominance...a close game in the 4th is not dominance.

Wait, wait.... Brian is a 8-4 haha

Cane Since 1982

Just read back throgh last nights Q&A and Im sorry but that was weak. This Brian guy spent more time blowing smoke up his BC skirt than spending time trying to give us any new info on Omaha or college baseball in general.

Brian Q: when was the last time BC football won a NC. Talk about that yankee boy.

A question for Morris and Admin.

Was looking at Rosenblatt's scoreboard, shown above... and was thinking how sweet it would be to have it on our field... A little piece of history at Alex Rodriquez Park... Hummmmmm... What dreams are made of!

Knowing they are building a new facility in Omaha, I doubt they would transfer the old board... but knowing how we cherrish histoy, it would be a good fit here!

To get it , we need to do it on the quick and quiet... while nobodies thinking about it!

82... and others
U know I back you when deserving but why insult a guest when they are invited to participate in our home blog by the host. IMO we need to show some class, as he knows we own him with the exception of a couple of games.. and one need not be brought up... Ouch... it still hurts! LOL...

Everybody is entitled to their favorite teams and their rival teams to be hated the most. But I bet they're allot of closet fans out there that hate us on game day, but love us when we bet their rivals... But what's new,... we're damned when you hate on us and we're damned when you love on us.

To be a Cane... It's all good!

Gotta Go...

We were definitely NOT dominated by BC. We had no one healthy for that game and we still hung in there until late.

We just didn't have the horses to compete.

That stadium is a friggin Morgue!!

BC is a horshyt team that has never won a thing. They were sooo overrated the entire season still hangin from Flutie's nutz! That is the bright spot in the programs history. SWEET!!

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Willie deserved to get fired. He ws horrible. Mets are getting hammered in the media, but whatever. Hopefully we can go on a big run to shut them up

BTW, Zach Kane was kicked off a local HS all star game recently for drinking in his room. He has gotten into a lot of trouble. Not a good representation of UM

Canez1

Sc I was lookig forward to seeing what this kid can do on the field but if he is going to act like a crack head not sure if he is what we are looking for.

Maybe he just needs a change in scenery. The Vets on this team won't let this kid get out of control down here. He needs to get down here asap!

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Cat5,

I was not trying to insult the man. I respect anyone that is an actual jurnalist especially when they take time out of their day and away from their paying job to come blob with us. BUT when you start talking about an in conference rival team (in 2 different conferences) you better be very prepared for myself and others to come back with our side of the tale. I did critisize him for the lack of pertanent baseball info in his Q&A but alot of that can go to the Q's being asked.

Super,

Anyone north of the Mason Dixon Line is a Yank to me. I have no problem being friends with Yanks I just call them yankees. The South Will Rise Again. Starting with MIAMI. (None of this was said (typed) in a racist tone. You can be proud of the south with out being a racist.)

Canez1

I gotta admit I did some stupid shyt ten times worse than that when I was his age. Who the F am I to judge.

Bring this badazz down here and he will straighten himself out or he will be headed back to NJ in a hurry.

He is a Cane and I have his back!

and who knows what really happened??

GO CANEZ!!!!!

CS82 that was me that talked about the Yankee thing. LOL

I'm just teasin ya bro. I could give a fuk.

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Loco

I agree.. don't attack our guest. #1, you never attack a guest and #2 he was provoked into the BC promotion by 'Spacers. He was doing us a favor coming here and speaking with us, whether you agree with his views or not, so don't bash him.

To those who bash him: What are you? Gaytor fans?? Hurricane fans should not bash people, only ideas

Loco

Posted by: Cane Since 1982 | June 17, 2008 at 09:53 AM

I have to say though, that Miami isn't really part of the south... It may be IN the south, but that doesn't make it the south... Anything south of orlando is its own beast, a mixture of northern cuba and southern new york. It doesn't count as the South.

Loco

And with the whole "The South will Rise Again" idea... I have a funny story to go with that. The short argument went a little something like this...

Friend from Philly: The South lost the Civil War, get over it already

Friend from Louisiana: Shut up! We lost on a technicality!

me: What? Surrender?

Loco

sounds like he needs to get off the sauce. What are the repercussions if Shannon pulls his scholli? I know the LOI is binding for the athlete, is it for the school as well? And if Shannon DOES bring him in, how short of a leash is he one? One strike and you're out? Or it depends on how bad?

Canes1 oops I saw where Super copied your comment and replied to him.

Loco no one will argue with you on the south of Orlando thing. I know I am in the minority down here when I am a white southern non-Jewish boy who still holds the aspects of a southern gentlemans character in high regards. I still talk like this is southern land but i know its not, but it wont stop me from talking.

Before someone mentions it no I will not move to a more southern region because it is just to darn beautiful down here and this is where I grew up.

Mephistopheles

Sorry I missed the Q & A last night-its always good to get a non-biased opinion.

As for the series, I wanted Stanford to win last night-we match up better with them. The Cardinal has nothing special, just a solid club-UGA's not much better but they have the hammer at the end of the game-he's a game changer. However, a possible chink in Fields was apparent last night. If UM can be patient and take some pitches, he can lose the zone. Stanford was in great shape but the guy who hit into the DP swung at a bad pitch that would have made the count 3-1.

Oh well, I like our chances against the bottom of Stanford's pitching-we really need some bats to come alive. We should be able to tally double digits against Stanford on wednesday-if not, I'm concerned.

Hey Matty-I thought Sobo and Raben took better hacks last night. Agree, or was I dreaming? We need those guys to get hot.

All we need is for Garcia to keep his post-season run going-7 innings and 3 runs has been his average in 3 starts. If he can do that, we should get to the weekend with Chris.

JC

I sorta agree with Super about Kane, but I'll leave that to the coaches' discretion. He might be a 'badazz' but he's a punk and we don't need punks down here. Jersey stinks anyway.

Loco, totally agree with your evaluation of South Florida. Though there ARE some true southerners here, that's a pretty fair assessment of it's general makeup.

Canez1, Yankees not looking so hot either with Wang out 10 weeks. Poor Hank Steinbrenner thinks the NL needs a DH. That's "21st century" baseball. I like that the NL doesn't and the AL does, but that's just me.

Well guys I think that worked out fairly well for the Canes. Analysis said Stanford had the better pitching staff, so the Canes didn't want to have to beat them 2 in a row. Better their #3 starter in a one and done situation than having to beat their #1 and #2 in consecutive days. Their starters held down FSU and UGA pretty well!

All I know is the Canes need to tee off on the #3 Stanford pitcher and carry that momentum into the games with UGA. If they don't get to UGA's proportedly weak pitching, that bullpen isn't gonna blow it.

I also would like a big lead Wednesday to give Carlos another shot either in a set-up situation or even closing, without the pressure of a narrow margin, to see if he can get his crap together. We WILL need him in a tight spot before all is said and done, and we need him RIGHT.

GO CANES!

BTW, I'm pulling for Fresno today over UNC, and Rice over LSU. If UNC makes the title series 3-0 with their starters rested, they are going to be a tough out.

JC

Also, I thought I posted this yest before leaving but apparently it didn't go through. Important since I'm seeing lots of people btching about Morris taking out Bellamy after he pitched the 7th and 8th. This was my closing thought on yesterday:

You can't have Bellamy pitching 3 innings a game for 5 games. In a clinching type situation or before a lot of rest, sure, but otherwise you want him to get 2 innings, top. He usually comes in sometime in the 7th if the starter is in a jam. The 8th is typically his only full inning.

BTW some facts from Baseball America before the CWS that are becoming more relevant:

- The Hurricanes are batting just .258 as a team in the postseason, and junior outfielder Dennis Raben has struggled the most, batting .162. Still, all four of Raben's hits have gone for extra bases: two doubles and two homers.

STILL STRUGGLING! HELLO BATS??

We gotta rock the #3 pitcher of either UGA or Stanford. If we don't, we just didn't come to play or win.

- Just six Miami pitchers have seen action in six postseason games. If all goes as planned, six is all the Hurricanes will need.

HELLO? Morris needs to involve more pitchers. Especially now that Carlos has gone AWOL.

- Miami lacks pitching depth, so it needs sophomore lefthander Eric Erickson to pitch like he did in regionals against Mississippi (7 IP, 6 H, 2 ER), and not like he did in super-regionals against Arizona (3.1 IP, 5 H, 7 R, 3 ER).

Well, CHECK today. But that reflects how badly we're gonna need D. Guiterrez back.

And regarding our upcoming opponents:

- For all the talk about how deep and talented Georgia's pitching staff is, the Bulldogs have the highest overall ERA of the eight Omaha teams (4.82). It's even worse in the postseason (5.58). Georgia simply must pitch better to have a chance to win the title, because while its offense has been hot, UGa. doesn't figure to have quite enough offensive firepower to compete in a slug-fest with Miami, Florida State or Stanford.

STARTING PITCHING. That's where you can attack UGA. Their lineup is underrated I think.

- Stanford played one of the best all-around super-regionals last weekend, excelling in all phases of the game to win a tight series against a good Cal State Fullerton club. The Cardinal have the deepest lineup in the field, with quality righty/lefty platoons at the corner outfield spots and impact players coming off the bench. It will be critical for Stanford to stay out of the loser's bracket, because pitching depth is not its greatest strength.

BASED ON THAT, it seems we want Stanford in the next game bc they lack pitching depth but have a solid lineup.

I think either way it's gonna be rough, and no matter who they play the Canes need to rough up the starter.

But in terms of winning 2 straight games, Stanford would seem the tougher team to do so again when they are well rested.

Cane Since 1982

Meph,

You are right on. I too would have liked to have gotten UGA for only 1 game. When it comes to Stanford there #3 can not be anywhere near that of Garcia and they have already shown there bats are highschoolish compared to ours over the season (over the playoffs might be another story). Another to remember for tomorrow nights game, unlike previous years Stanford has played the same number of games in the same number of days as Miami has in the loosers bracket. As far as UGA goes, We'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Alacane

Have you guys taken a look at Shandel's latest article. Noticed how he called out the Canes for "Excessive Taunting" during the Canes-Noles game at Tallahassee this past April. Not cool!!!!

Old Skool

Loco.
I won't argue with you but I'll correct you.
Southeast Florida from Port St. Lucie down is populated with Northeasterners. Southwest Florida from Tampa down is populated primarily with Midwesterners. The reason is that everyone used to follow the Interstates down to go on vacation I-95 runs up into the Northeast. I-75 runs up into the Midwest.

Alacane,

right next to Shandles blog and on the UM sports page for the SS website has been the video (as the top video) of th UM, FSU talking match at the home plate ever since it happened.

Cane Since 1982

Just heard on the radio that the Herald has cut 200 full time and part time employees. Has anyone talked to Manny?
