If you had your choice between MH or Rudy to kill a few minutes of blogostrophy who would you choose?

SOUP

OGV and pb...fair enough.

I'm not in the business of defending people, I just want people to get a fair trial in the court of public opinion.

Rudy is not ignorant or negligent, just outspoken. He should not be held liable for that. If you want his email or phone # let me know...

Loco

Which player was that loco?

Posted by: Calvin | June 27, 2008 at 10:01 PM

Safety Corey Addison.. One of the top in florida. He grew up a gaytor fan, and has them, us, UCF, and South Carolina in his top 4... but the gaytors haven't offered him yet

busy_cane

Rudy Rodriguez-Chomat (“RRC”) is not a good writer. He has grammar issues. His arguments lack logic. He shows extreme bias in his columns.

Here is an example from his June 17, 2008 column, Classless Move:

Hopefully, the Mets will go like 60-102 just so the Wilpon's get screwed just like they did to Randolph.

Seriously?

Comments like the one above and the rant about the ’09 recruiting class consistently end RRC in the doghouse. He deserves to be there. He puts himself there.

Soup, I appreciate your desire to defend a good guy, and I appreciate your defense of his angle, but RRC is more than a fan blogger. He writes for newspapers. His site charges a monthly subscription and is an ESPN affiliate. What would we be saying if Omar Kelly, Manny Navarro, or even Shandel Richardson wrote the same things?

RRC is guilty of more than just a malapropism. He consistently goes beyond what is appropriate and he has earned all the criticism and more.

Soup, I'm uploading the pics now. Feel free to pick and choose what you want, some are fairly decent. Let me know what you don't want to use and I'll put it up on photobucket or something

Wasn't it Rudy who was griping LAST year about how fuct it was that we weren't going after B. Harris (who we got) and Quan Fletcher (since, you know, we were woefully short on quality linebackers last year...)? That's just not the track record of a savvy observer.

busy_cane

Sorry Soup!

I applaud you. I really do.

I don't doubt that RRC is really well intended, is a really good guy, is a lot of fun to be around, and is a huge fan of the Canes.

BTW, you'll have a new blog up tomorrow, and my comment will be archieved in blog oblivion.

solar, you and I both know that Jitters isn't winning the starting QB spot in Art Briles multiple offense this year. Kevin Kolb was the man his first year in Houston BECAUSE HE PLAYED FOR BRILES IN HIGH SCHOOL. Jitters isn't picking up that offense in six months or less and even if he did, he isn't completing the 70% of his passes Coach Briles likes to see from his QB's.

SJMPARMAN

I will add 2 cents to this topic just cause I can. This blog is filled with alot of knowledgable UM fans. I really feel many of these fans know far more than the "pundits" who cover the team. Shandel at the Sun Sentinel is a nice guy but he is clueless about the team, its traditions, and about the Canes can do attitude. Jorge at the Palm Beach Post is, at best, a reluctant reporter for the U. That is Gator country up there, and, with all due respects to Mr Milan, his heart just isn't into it. In Miami, Manny Navarro is as good as the Herald can find for UM. He is a great reporter, his heart is into it but sometimes he seems lost in understanding the dynamics that is U of M football.

These pay for blog guys are really clueless. I am not going to call Rudy or anyone out on a personal level. Based on schedule alone, when people play each other next year, the U could field an all freshman team and go 5-6. The serious opponents all will be beat up by the time we play them except FSwho.

Now these pay sites have predicted anywhere from 3-8 to 5-6. Apparently, they have forgotten that we will field juniors and seniors next year, and many of those guys were highly recruited and are very good football players. Randy got rid of those guys who were juniors or seniors but who didn't have the potential to compete nationally, see Kirby Freeman as a prime example. Next year, we rock. Unlike Coker, Randy got rid of the dead wood in the program and brought in promising freshman to replace the deadwood on the depth chart. But that is depth chart stuff, there are plenty of top notch starters who are juniors and seniors on this team.

I guess the concern is that I can't give Rudy or anyone else a pass for not respecting the talent on the team, especially in light of what is a VERY favorable schedule. 8-4 or 9-3 would be a very so-so year given the talent on this team, especially when you look at the losses of talent of teams within our division of the ACC. How can I respect the "paid" guys when they can't see the obvious???

orange 'n green in the vein

This Rudy thing is just so puzzling. How are you going to call out this coaching staff for not recruiting properly? Clock management mistakes? Maybe. Not breaking through to the two headed beast of a QB that was returning last year? Uh, OK, as long as you don't pay any attention to what was going on with the passing game before Nix was brought in. But to dog the recruiting acumen of this staff is just baffling. How many former recruiting coordinators are on the roster? Three, four? It's not like these guys don't have proven track records bringing in kids to less prestigious programs than Miami to look back on.

orange 'n green in the vein

I can't wait until Mr. Football I and Mr. Football II make everybody open up and eat some f'ing crow this year. And SJMPARMAN is right, there is a lot of Jr. and Sr. talent in the 2 deep. Now it's just a matter of getting these guys who have been here for years to come through at the expected level of performance.

I do not want to get caught up in the whole Rudy thing. Not really into blogging wars or wars on football speculation. We as the blogging population are pretty much just that "speculators." We bring our experiences, knowledge and OPINIONS here and try to convince others we have the right vision. But truly we really do not know. Lots of bloggers here are VERY knowledgable cane fans and have great inside info. As far as Rudy he is a reporter or insider so I think the guys get miffed when he says some things.

You know the old saying about opinions.....they are just like a___holes, evryone has one.

Go Canes!!!!

Who's the wideout highlighted in the latest Rivals article by Matt Schodel? Anyone have that?

Cavaleer

"I still think Rudy is grossly unqualified to be making the majority of the opinions he makes. If I may use an analogy to illustrate I will say this:

Lets say I were to spend a month or even two hanging around the UM Medical School at Jackson, talking to doctors, patients and administrators all day, every day.

If at the end of that time I was still a total tool, would you want me diagnosing you if you were sick?"

Busy, Calvin, Peebster, SJM, OGV and a few others said everything I was going to say about Rudy's flim-flammery. lol

At bottom, he needs to take Journalism 101.

Old Skool

Wide Out Xavier Rhodes is Rivals tease of the day

Old Skool

Journalism 101 is irrelevant. It was about rules, objectivity and structure. Little of that matters anymore, especially on the Internet. If what you say -- whether factual, justified or not -- can attract and hold and audience, that's all that matters. Rudy is turning off readers, He'll either change his ways or fall by the wayside.

solarcane

skool,
Good point, I think Chris Stock has had more than one heart to heart talk with Rudy.
I have nothing against Rudy, I read his stuff and agree or disagree, then move on.

I do beleive we fans need every resourse available to gather and share Canes information.

Think back ten years ago. You had to read the Sunday paper or watch two hours of Sports Center to get any Canes info when we were playing on the road.

CoCane

I love the football team but this is the year Faith in Haith will provide blessings. The hoops team is LOADED! I think they'll be the team to give the Tar Heels fits in the ACC.

Hurdle is as quick, fast & athletic as any PG in the country.

JACK! I ain't gotta say shyt else.

Daequan Jones is the most athletic frosh SF for the 08'. Dick Vitale's gonna scream DIAPER DANDEEEE BABEEEE!!! After he posterizes mutha fukkaz on the fast break.

We know Jimmy Graham's gonna bring energy & defense.

The big question is Dwayne Collins. Has he taken his work ethic & skill package to another level this off-season? CAN YOU DIG UP THE INFO FROM YOUR RESOURCES 86'? 'Cause if Collin's is on point we're a legit final 4 contender.

Holla at ya boy...

But Solar and Old Skool how in the world do you think Fox, Rush, O'Reilly stay on the air? They entertain, throw out of bone(not always true) those that agree come back, those that disagree come back-the best of both worlds.

Unfortunately we as a public not very educated and because we hear it on the airwaves we think it is true and give it creedance. Silly we are but we do not have to listen, watch or read. So I generally take it with a grain of salt and try not to feed into it.

Rudy may just be trying to entertain and get a rise out of cane fans and many of you guys.

Old Skool

Canechic.

Precisely, standards of professionalism have been replaced by sharp opinions, glitzy graphics and big personalities. Entertainment rules and popularity is its most important asset. How and who delivers the news is more important than the news itself. Truth is subjective.

Rudy may have been trying to entertain, but wit helps.

The reviews are in. He bombed so we move on.

SuperCooper

LOL, no doubt.

BTW the player that Rudy thrashed, Mike James (Who?!), is on campus and should commit by the end of the weekend if things go right.
