As Fall practice approaches, Canes fans once again find there is reason for enthusiasm. After having had all of the optimism sucked out of us by last season, a few self destructing quarterbacks, fraud coaches, and a Canes team that quit on itself in 2007, there is again reason for hope in 2008.
-
These new qbs come in with the same super hero hype as their predecessors but something feels different. Both Marve and Harris show poise and confidence that is uncanny for freshmen. Having a pair of quarterbacks that would kill to get in the game is refreshing. The last pair we had seemed to be afraid they were going to get killed if they got in the game. These two new guys actually seem to calm down their coaches. You don’t get that Shannon Kool Aid aftertaste when he speaks about either of them.
-
The rest of the recruiting class is recognized as one of the best in the nation. Every Canespacer seems to have one or two favorites that they have confidence will be immediate contributors. If recruits play to their potential the Canes will once again be deep at skill positions.
-
Miami will wind through a not so impossible schedule. Predicating how many games we will win is always up for debate. Yet, making a prediction before the Florida game could be compared to picking the Academy Awards winners before the movies are made.
-
Some opposing teams seem to have had our number in the past few seasons. The Hokies are always a good football team. If Virginia Tech is declining in talent at the same rate we are improving we will beat them.
-
The Tar Heels are well coached but their players aren’t the same caliber as the current Canes roster. If Cooper had Marve or Jacory and some receivers that could catch in the huddle with him last year, we would have won in spite of somnambulistic side line coaching.
-
Texas A&M is a tough crowd but a not so tough team. If we can handle the Swamp, College Station won’t intimidate us, we win going away. We blow up in the Swamp, we could very well die in College Station.
-
Georgia Tech is changing a lot of things on offense. Earlier Jacket blogs conveyed the feeling the GT players weren’t thrilled with their coach or his offense. We have a history of losing a couple we should have won, but I’m hoping we wipe up Atlanta. Buzz on, buzz off!
-
Wake Forest is for real; meeting them right after Duke is going to be interesting. We cream Duke and our heads get swollen, Wake buries us (I couldn’t resist!).
_
If we beat Texas A&M and UNC back to back we should be sky high for FSU and trounce them. Then again we are talking the roller coaster Canes. There is no reason we couldn’t win the Coastal Division, and even fewer reasons we couldn’t win the ACC.
So when you are ready just…“Roll Up, and that’s an invitation, roll up for the Magical Mystery Tour, it’s hoping to take you away”

I aint rollin it but its bubbling.
WHo ever the author is nice write up but no mention of VT. That game could very well decide who is playing for the ACC and write to play a BCS bowl in our home stadium. Or does VT come in a later article.

Brownie...when I say 10:00, I MEAN 10:00!
Look, here is how it works:
1. People, and by "people" I mean Canes fans, submit blogs.
2. I edit and add photos to the blog.
3. I schedule the blog to post at a certain day and time up to 30 days in advance.
4. How hard is that?
Posted by: SOUP | July 11, 2008 at 10:50 PM
It woulda been obvious it was solar if it had the requisite -> "peace" at the end.
BTW, where is Obvious?
Yo, we gotta do things we havent done for a couple years:
> Receiver catch the ball consistantly
> Good decision making at QB
> game day coaching
Simple, right...BTW, did I mention f!hk VaTech?!

Probably because I don't want them to, or post his name as the author?

CGNC is back in action and has something really INTERESTING planned.

My trip to Florida. I came for a visit for a few weeks and went to see a old friend in Gainesville. I went into Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and took photos inside the men's locker room. It was pretty cool they have like 5 guys on that team running below 4.3 On the Flip side i went down to the "U" and was in the Hecht and I spoke with Sinorice Moss who was really working on being injury free this year and getting alot more PT. Ken Dorsey was outside Running Sprints in the grass and I have a lil video of him doing that. I spoke with him and asked him about coming back to the U coaching and he said he would love to so i look forward to that. He is a big guy by the way not to skinny anymore. I spoke to Kellen Winslow and he looked in peak form he was a nice guy and wanted me to film him before Swasey started to trip and asked me not to. Omar Rolle was there, he is like 30 now and used to be a WR for Miami #9 out of Miami Norland he was a real nice guy and talked alot about the upcoming season we had. He says Allen Baily will be a big part of the defense this year. one thing to note is all 40's is not created equal i noticed Miami's board just like the one i filmed in Gainesville with all the top 40 times and although our times are slower our is run on the grass at the practice fields so all surfaces are different speeds.

Soup did you guys already discuss the "U" controvesy in the new stadium? I am still in denial about the OB? I refuse to look at pictures, my Brother calls me everyday and would give me updates and I would tell him to stop. I am not sure I will even visit the site for a very long time.

Solar all the highschool kids in Nick's circle are crazy about the beatles, if you have some vinyl records, these kids will pay a mint to get a hold of them.
I know kids are paying a mint for vinyl records?? Who knew when I sold my Van Halen, Def Lepard, Knack albums for a quarter a piece, that these kids would pay $30 for one album!! GO FIGURE!

On The Suckometer ND edged us out for biggest bust by an elite program last year.
We didn't go down without a fight and almost pulled it off by letting Virginia grind our faces in the hallowed Orange Bowl turf.
But ND still prevailed as best program to embarrass its fans.
Sacks: Opponents 58 for 415 yards – Notre Dame 19 for 132 yards
- Average yards per carry: Opponents 4.3 yards – Notre Dame 2.1 yards
- First half scoring: Opponents 182 – Notre Dame 83

Solar - I got tired of carrying my albums around with me so I sold them. My dad still has his beatles, doors, and get this Flash Gordan albums he listened to!!! He still has his 8 tracks. He had an 8 track player in his car and I think he still has the one we had in the house as kids! I told him to try and sell his beatles but he won't, so I guess Nick will inherit his collection and Nick won't sell either.

Moving to Dolfin Stadium....
Guys... I hate to say it but.... "It is what it is". The contract is signed and we're stuck for 25 years of coexistence with the Fins... We either accept it, if we can afford it or we protest and sit home...
I wished I could say it is a easy decision, but I can't... Do I want a Box Suite or Club Seats for 6?... I don't know and I'm still holding out... waiting... Yeah, waiting for a miracle with a winning lotto number!!! LOL
On a serious note...
For those who haven't bought their tickets, I understand, as we are in a recession and the sad part is... is that the worst, is yet to come. Miami is a tourest town and 50 percent of our economy is based upon that fact... Come September, starts the high season, but this year, we should expect allot of cancellations..., Now add in The housing gloom and the lack of construction... adds up to a disastrous year for south Florida
Hopefully, Donna will see this and make adjustments, as everybody I know is laying off employees to survive the current crunch...
DONNA, I hope you can hear me!!!
Lower the prices or give special packages at discounted rates for this year!!!

Good Morning Legion,
86...
Big news in the 352! call ya later to give ya the 411.
Lizard fans are now cautiously optimistic. They are much like the Persians looking down the spears of the Spartans. The know they have overwhelming odds in their but are afraid the outcome will be undesirable.
They have everything to lose. They are predicted to win and win big. Yet they realize this young team could come in the bog and pull off the upset. A loss to an underrated, hungry Hurricane team will decimate their promising season and catapult the "300" into history!
Strap Up Lads!!!
IT IS GREAT TO BE A MIAMI HURRICANE!!!
Posted by: OCALACANE | July 12, 2008 at 09:52 AM
Cat 5 I hear U! Gas is one of the main reason we won't buy this year!
I know it is a fact about the change but this will be a bad year, can't really afford to eat much less buy season tickets for football! I know everybody I am just an "economic whiner" in a "mental recession".
I sure hope it gets better soon because I love football and it is killing me that our family will have to miss out on this season!! I just can't believe I will not be at the game for the opening game. Have not missed one since 97 when we lived in CA.
Go Canes!
