Today your Miami Hurricanes face Wake Forest in an ACC showdown at The New Place (TNP) Stadium. What is it with these seemingly nice universities located in the North Carolina Bible belt that have this fascination with naming their teams after Lucifer?
First the Canes have to face the Duke Blue Devils and now the Deamon Deacons? Somebody's been drinking the "Fire Water"!
In fact, the University of Miami is now 33-18-1 all-time versus teams from the state of North Carolina. Since UM joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in 2004, the Hurricanes are 9-4 against teams from the Tar Heel State. Prior to two late season losses to N.C. teams last season, the Hurricanes had seven straight wins against the state from late 2004 to early last year.
Before Miami joined the ACC, the `Canes rarely faced teams from North Carolina, playing just four games against N.C. teams from the time Dennis Erickson took over the program in 1989 to the team's last year in the BIG EAST in 2003. Over that 15-year span, UM faced East Carolina three times and NC State once.
Todays game features an interesting matchup of contrasting teams. Wake Forest is coming off a 26-0 loss at Maryland and brings a 4-2 overall record and 2-1 record in the ACC Atlantic Division. Miami is coming off a a 49-31 win over Duke and brings a 4-3 overall record and 1-2 record in the ACC Coastal Division.
This game will determine two facts: Are the Canes ready to compete against a quality opponent and who will win the ACC championship.
Both of these questions will be answered today at noon...
GO CANES, BEAT WAKE!!!

FSU/VT game... 3:30 PM, on ABC
Fla/KY game... 12:30 on CW
Tebow, Change of mind...say's at end of year, he will consider the NFL instead of staying a 4th year at FLA.
Urbie must be sweating it out... I wonder what Florida and his other super stars would be like without his boy king... my guess, above average 8/4 but not top 10 material.
3 hours 31 minutes... GoCanes!

KY/ Fla game... Kentucky, Missing key players!
Two weeks ago, Kentucky's defense held No. 2 Alabama to 17 points, but lost by a field goal. Kentucky beat Arkansas 21-20 last week in dramatic fashion. The victory came at a price. Kentucky lost its featured running back, Derrick Locke, to a season-ending knee injury.
Locke's injury came one week after Kentucky lost its best receiver, senior Dicky Lyons Jr., to a season-ending knee injury.
The Wildcats are banged up on defense, as well. Starting linebackers Braxton Kelley and Johnny Williams are questionable for Saturday's game because of shoulder injuries and defensive tackle Myron Pryor is unavailable because of an ankle injury.

Posted by: masscanesfan | October 25, 2008 at 09:40 AM
Mass,
U can see it on live streaming video at www.justin.tv, and look up The Dark side channel, he blogs on here and streams it live for fans that can't get it. If U can't find his channel, just type Miami Hurricanes in the search and it should bring U to his channel to watch it. GO CANES!

Forget luck, just go out and dominate. If we lose today the seasaon is a wash. If we win, we can still salvage a very good season and a rematch with the Noles, maybe even a BCS.

Mass,
Yeah, well as long as I can see it, It doesn't matter to me. The live streaming video is very good too. Also, off to the side you can blog on the channel with other fans which is neat!

Right!
IT'S @ justin.tv/darkside_tv
Since this is Breeder's Cup Day, out in SoCali, an apt metaphor is called for. Team Shannon has to break out of the gate quickly, and take command of the game from the get go. Wake Forest isn't Duke, so I hope Team Shannon doesn't fall behind early-albeit the home crowd should give the Canes some energy to feed off.

What ever Coker says today has no bearing on how the Canes play.
Bashing Coker for two hours on the blog as the game goes on , is gonna bore the hell out of everyone that checks in.
Make your obligatory hate remark, then concentrate on the game.
Try to be comprehensive on your observations and your comments.
Folks not seeing the game will appreciate a realistic description of what is going on.
thanks
peace

The O has to MAN-UP and at least get a FG. Give the D some rest. Wake Forest is making it look too easy!! All runs.
Posted by: macjones de albuquerque | October 25, 2008 at 12:13 PM
2 many drop passes!! Come on D FREAKIN' MAN-UP!!! Now is a good time 4 a turnover!!
Posted by: macjones | October 25, 2008 at 12:19 PM
Does it seem like the WR's like to catch for Harris but not for Marve?
Posted by: Hurricane Mitch | October 25, 2008 at 12:21 PM
That's what Yo is talkin' about!!!
Let's go O!!!
Posted by: macjones de albuqueurque | October 25, 2008 at 12:23 PM
I hope Team Shannon attempts to establish the run. Let Coop get into a groove.
Posted by: macjones | October 25, 2008 at 12:25 PM
Benjamin deep baby!!!
Posted by: macjones de albuquerque | October 25, 2008 at 12:26 PM
Maybe Marve should run 10 yards out to the WR and TE's at the end of their route and hand them the ball instead of throwing it to them right in their hands or chest.
Good to see the D shoring up on Wake's run game for that series.
Wow - amazing what can happen when the WR catches the ball, huh? A 48 yard pass completion.

Texas Tech vs. Kansas today ... it's going to basically be an Arena Football Game, except the teams will be wearing college uniforms.
Funny to see one of Herbie's kids start freaking out crying when Corso put on that big ass buckeye head.
Posted by: Six | October 25, 2008 at 12:29 PM
OK... Time for the DEFENSE TO SHUT 'EM DOWN!!!
LETS GO!!!!
