As all of you most certainly have heard by now University of Miami QB Robert Marve has requested, and has been granted (with stipulations), the release from his scholarship at UM by Canes Head Coach Randy Shannon.
The Canes will now move forward and look to 2008 part-time starter Jacory Harris, red-shirt freshmen Taylor Cook and Cannon Smith, or one of the incoming freshman to fill the quarterback position in 2009.
Regardless of where you stand on the situation, it is undeniably sad that in the period of just under two years, Robert Marve has gone from being named Mr. Florida Football in high school and proclaimed as the next "Great One" at UM to being labled by some bloggers (legal disclaimer: NOT ME) as a problem child with more ego than talent, less maturity than leadership and more interceptons (13) than touchdowns (9).
Now that takes a lot of work! From alledgedly breaking a car mirror in Coconut Grove and running from police last year that led to his first suspension this season, to being suspended a second time for the Canes recent bowl game due to apparent class attendance issues, it now seems obvious to both Canes fans and the casual observer alike that "Little Bobby" may have some serious growing up to do.
Marve's father and even his former high school coach have all come out with some not so flattering comments about Coach Shannon's treatment of Marve while the young man was living for free on the lovely UM campus in Coral Gables.
Marve's former coach at Plant HS was even recently quoted as saying that none of his players will ever play for Randy Shannon at UM. Now we see where Little Bobby gets it from! Talk about ego?
Since when does a high school coach determine where his players are ALLOWED to attend college? And how do the Plant high school football players' parents feel about that? And, since when does any coach deny one of his student-athletes the tremendous opportunity to attend a respected instuitution of higher learning for free? Maybe some high school students' parents would LOVE for their sons or daugthers to attend UM on a scholarship?
This is like watching a lttle league game where the parents and the coaches ruin the whole meaning of the game by brawling in the parking lot. It is just sad; very, very sad.
Regardless of this seemingly silly behavior by the adults and all the child-like nonsense, we want to thank Robert Marve for his time at The U and also wish him all the future success he deserves.
And what he deserves is totally up to him.
A few words of advice to Little Bobby: Go to class and stay off the streets late at night. In the words of one head football coach: "Nothing good happens after midnight."

My concern is - where is Charles getting that info from? First of all, that sounds like information that only an insider would know. Second, if he was making it up - what is his motivation to do so?
I point this out because I read someones post, before the official report that Marve was seeking a transfer, which said that - Orson Charles was helping Marve clean out his locker. That thought naturally raises the question - Is Marve bad mouthing the Canes and their Coaching staff?

Marve don't realize that everything is a test. He may not have asked to take such a test, but like it or not, it comes with anyone proclaiming a leadership position.

First time blogger here, I think this Marve drama will eventually benefit The U, no more distractions from an obvious spoiled and troublesome player. Now we have a clear starting QB going into the spring and next year. Unlike Marve, Jacorry is actually trying to get recruits to come to Miami.

Roberts coach just really added fuel to the fire and like someone said, other coaches are going to get wind of this which isnt good for Marve. So the big deal is Shannon wasnt tucking Marve in and holding his hand on and off the practice field. Basically he wasnt Marves high school coach. Marve has to realize where ever he goes its going to be different than what he had in high school. His dad and Weiner need to shut the he!! up and just work on getting that boy in a school thats right for him. Dont make matters worse.

Yeah I leak that one out her names is Becca Marve plays basketball and softball for Tampa Plant . What i do not get is why everyone is saying that Robert and Nix relationship was great .... that is far from the truth. I met Eugene Marve at cdb sports grille in tampa and we were talking doing the Wake Game and i can say that Marve family was more upset with the play calling and the lack of communication with Nix than Shannnon.... Thats the truth! besides OrsonCharles was on facebook saying: Fire Pat Nix or im a Bulldog! 2 months ago! So now there on Shannon!
Witch comes to mind that i think from speaking and meeting with them that there actually playing a game in this! all of them!
To there highschool coach ! There is a good chance that Shannon did not want marve and charles teaming up and going to one school as a pkg. Like the tenn. thing or s.fla. or fla. That may have been a large part of why Shannon put on the restrictions. Breaking the rules by contacting teams while still a Cane was number one but the idea that charles and marve were going to deal behind Shannon's back and get away with it, was cocky, and beyond ego. Then to be called on it and get personal was shooting themselves in the foot twice.

Marve has become a liability rather than an asset. He is bad mouthing Shannon because he can not have his way. Shannon just want U to play hard and knock someone the hell out. Marve thinks his next coach is going to hand him over the keys to the NEW BENZ OR JAG without working for it. He may play backup for years to come.ONLY TIME WILL TELL! Besides, NOBODY put him in this situation but him. I wonder how he'll act if Bill Parcel was his coach!! The one think that NFL coaches know very well is "a Pre-Madonna". If Robert Marve have any forsight about him, he will not create this type of reputation. If he do not take a course to reverse these facts or rumors, then he better hope he is Hiesman worthy, because that is what it will take for him make "the impression" go away. The impression of - a freshman thinking he is smarter than a coach, is cryptonite to NFL hopfuls. And even if he do make it to the NFL, NFL coahes as well as players will constantly make him prove his genuis.

Children are traditionally "young and dumb". Marve, it your choice. You can be a leader a take responsibility for what you did. Or you can continue acting like a spoiled bratt, a follower of bad advice. Its your choice and its another challenge. Prove that you are a leader. Prove us wrong.
