sup ya'll? anyone got any good recruiting news?hate this dry spell of no canes foosball and not much recruiting info.i need my fix man..."u got any money, any blow,c'mon maaaaannnn i'll suck yo _ _ _ _"
lol-gotta love boy'z n the hood.
seriously, though,i need my canes fix man, and basketball just didn't do it for me man gimme some foosball news and dangit i'd take gus over nix anyday.honestly, how much did u see nix have us in the pro formation this year anyways?maybe 30-40%.maybe.so we need to squash that talk right now-only USC is really running a true pro style offense nowadays and has success with it-everybody else worth their salt runs some type of spread, including,TX,OK,FL,Penn ST,and any other program in the top ten.
it's called evolving.and in the world of evalution,u either evolve or become extinct.
and besides gus likes to attack defenses while mr. nix takes what the D gives him.gimme the former anyday.

solarcane

conch no offense taken bro!
that was meant as pure sarcasm

"We go to the Emerald Bowl we get a chance to show how well we tackle really good running backs"

We helped make super stars out of just above average opposing running backs and QBs all year.

That guy Best on Cal will have 70 yds by halftime before we adjust.

I see the theme in your subliminal message soup, the talented second guy seldom gets his due.

Texas Tech reserve defensive back De’Shon Sanders was arrested early Thursday morning on two cocaine-related charges.

Isn't the booger sugar a little too high profile for Lubbock, Texas? They probably didn't even know what the hell it was he was trying to sell them ... probably thought it was flour.

something to ponder

In the last ten years all three of the Florida elite programs have one a football National Championship

FSU 1999
UM 2001
UF 2006

AC Associated Content Site

Pretty cool article pitting a current All U alum team against another NFL team

QB- Vinny Testaverde, Ken Dorsey-

By far the weakest spot on the team, the ancient Vinny Testaverde would actually be a better option than the noodle-armed Ken Dorsey (although both have weak arms at this stage). Testaverde can manage the offense pretty well without causing turnovers, however, leaving the game in the hands of this squad's great defense.

RB- Edgerrin James, Clinton Portis, Frank Gore.

James, Portis and Gore are all explosive backs with great vision and balance who are among the best in the league. James has been stuck behind a bad o-line with the Arizona Cardinals but is still an excellent talent in the NFL. Portis is a big-play threat every time he touches the ball. Gore is a monster who can score from inside the 20 with ease and get the tough yards.

WR- Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Roscoe Parrish

The top two wideouts are both big, fast and physical. They are each among the most feared wide receivers in the game who can strike from 50+ yards away at any time. Roscoe Parrish is a good fit for the slot because he is small and quick although he is better as a special teams player.

TE- Kellen Winslow Jr., Jeremy Shockey, Greg Olsen-

All 3 are very athletic and excellent wide receivers from the tight end position although they are less-than-great blockers. But they block decent enough to give the other team headaches in guessing whether a run or pass is being called.

OL- Rashad Butler, Bryant McKninnie, Eric Winston, Chris Myers, Brett Romberg-

This group is a little weak compared to other top alumni teams but the presence of McKninnie makes it decent because he is one of the best pass blockers in the game. Depth is a serious issue.

DL- Warren Sapp, Calais Campbell, Vince Wilfork, Jerome McDougle-

Sapp has to come out of retirement to help this unit and Campbell is set to be a rookie in the NFL but he joins in as well for depth's sake. Wilfork is big enough to play the nose tackle in the 3-4 defense which is what this team will likely play.

LB- Jon Beason, Ray Lewis, Jonathan Vilma, D.J. Williams-

This unit features a lot of speed and Lewis is one of the best linebackers in the game despite the fact that he's lost a step in terms of his overall speed. Vilma and Williams are solid but they do bring a lot of speed to the table to make for an aggressive defense.

DB- Philip Buchanon, Brandon Merriweather, Antrel Rolle, Ed Reed-

A pretty good all-around unit that would be pretty dependable in terms of giving up the big play. Rolle is phsyical enough to play up on receivers while Buchanon brings a ton of speed. Ed Reed can cover up many mistakes in the backfield with his range while Merriweather is a versatile defensive back for the New England Patriots.

Overall:

This team has a lot of playmakers but is a little weak on the offensive line and QB which hurts a lot. If they were given enough extra players for depth purposes, they could win about 7-9 games depending on how good their coach is.

The Hurricanes are still a VINTAGE name, even when they are relatively down. Simply because most of college football "get's off" HATING on the "bad guy" of major college football.

Since the Emerald Bowel is in the backyard of Cal, I'm guessing over 85% of the crowd will be anti-Canes. But U know what I say...The more Cane HATERS, the better!!

solarcane

mac,
I hear ya, remember the fable of The Twelfth Man and how those fans could actually make a difference in the score?

86 - I won't be at the games tonight, I'm taking some personal days from work. I will be at the ACC game tomorrow, I'll give u a call while I'm there.

I can tell you the final scores and some stats from the games tonight though, ha.

I can tell you right now, the Lakeland vs. Chamberlain game will be ugly, Lakeland will crush them. The Armwood vs. Plant game will be Armwood shutting down Plant. Orson Charles probably won't even get more than 50 yards receiving .. if he does, it will be a miracle, esp. since Aaron Murray is out.

Armwood's D is basically one of the filthiest high school defenses I've ever seen. They've had 6 defensive shutouts this year, 4 games where they held their opponent to 7 points or less, and have outscored their opponents 470-76. First game of the year, they beat Plant and Aaron Murray, 9-2.

Put it this way on how big a game like this is ...

From 2006 until now, Armwood has only lost 3 games. They lost to Winter Haven, Booker T. Washington (last year when BTW won state), and Plant.

From 2006 until now, Plant has only lost 3 games. All of them to Armwood.

Here are some of Armwood's players:

- Mywan Jackson (QB) #5 rated ATH by Rivals, he's a Jr. and also plays RB/WR/CB

- Petey Smith (ILB) #4 rated ILB by ESPN

- Ryne Giddins (DE) #4 rated DE by ESPN

- Angelo Hadley (DB) #52 rated DB by ESPN

The past 9 years, Armwood has averaged sending 8 players a year to Div. 1 schools.

Not bad for a town that has only 5,400 people in it.

canechic - there's no way I'd ever talk about the Canes the way Sileo does, and there's esp. no way I'd brown nose Brad Culpepper like Sileo does.

I had a nice long conversation with Brad Culpepper before the Cane vs. Croc game. The guy was clueless about the Canes, at one point, he asked me if Devin Hester was any good in college. HUH?

For a former Croc player, he must not remember when "Anytime" picked up the blocked FG attempt in the 2004 Peach Bowl, and ran it back for a TD, while high stepping from the 25 yard line all the way to the endzone ... with the closest Croc, about 15 yards behind him, chasing him.

Guess he also didn't remember when "Anytime" ran back a 97 yard opening kickoff for a TD against the Crocs, in the OB.

I will probably bash the Crocs for at least 1 hour of that 3 hour show. Even after they win the SEC Championship, I'll still have something to say about them.

canechic

We are #1

What CC said.

canechic

Six good because I that is one reason I stopped listening to Sileo. Those WED 10minutes made me puke!!

Watching Apk and Seminole. Ray Ray struggling on offense. 6 to 0 seminole

canechic

Alonzo Highsmith's son plays for Buffalo, who knew?

hurriphin

space invaders

hurriphin

CC-
anyway you could knock a few of those seminole kids out, after the game, and drag them down to coral gables?

canechic

I hope they come down to the Gables! Ray Ray is huge!!!!

Seminole 14 Apk 0 11:50 left in the 3rd. Nile Owens #1 just returned the kick off for TD and then #4 converts the 2 pt. conversion.

The game is on the local brighthouse station in Orlando.

hurriphin

will ray ray be playing the saftey position at the UA all-star game?

canechic

Not sure he plays both ways. He just ripped off a 15 yard run from the shotgun and no one could bring him down. He looks like a man playing boys.

canechic

Debose punts too!

canechic

Is everybody putting their Christmas trees tonight??

canechic

canechic

up

hurriphin

I'd like to see him soley at the saftey spot. We know that QB is out of the question at UM. Some have him panning out to a OLB, but I believe DB maximizes his athleticism

Esteban

former patriot player:

leonard russell

canechic

hurriphin he just went down the field and scored a TD. QB run for 10 yards, QB run for 11 yards and Debose QB pitched back to Ray Ray and he scored the TD. Ray Ray is as cool as a cucumber.

21 to 0 Seminole

hurriphin

kwanza tree....?

canechic

He will make a great safety. In high school you put your best athletes on the field all the time, that is why he plays QB. He does not have a great arm but is an exceptional athlete.

canechic

But kwanza is not until Jan, right?

hurriphin

CC-
isn't apopka one of those grating, boring, mortifying, option teams you were telling us about a while ago?

at least they gave us the hit stick and (i believe) big sapp.

LatinCane

.

hurriphin

I don't have a clue when kwanza really is....

canechic

Yes and the Apk QB is going to Michigan so he will fit right in!

Ray Ray just had a huge hit!

Six Plant is beating Armwood, that's a suprise right?

21 to 7 Seminole 9 minutes left in the 4th

canechic

Sapp and merriweather are both from Apk

Old Skool

Good luck Six
May it be the start of something big for you. And you can join the other names in Tampa/St. Pete sports broadcasting history: Salty Sol Fleischman, Andy Hardy, Dick Crippen, Mark Champion, Jack Harris et al.

canechic

Ray Ray just threw a pick (horrible pass)

MWD

If anybody is interested in High school football...
Miami Northwestern-40 Killian-7 in the 4th qtr

canechic

Thanks MWD, my son was wondering!

canechic

Debose just ran an 87yrd TD and did a double back flip in the endzone! 15yrd penalty!

27 to 7 seminole

canechic

And let me tell you that backflip was a 10!

What an athlete?????

MWD

CC, you are welcome.

hurriphin

two things keep us from netting debose:
1) UF's offense.(hard for a player of his style to resist that offense)
2)Our depth at WR.(most 5* kids aren't as competitive and patient as say, laron byrd)

other than that--he's all ours!!
