Pinoycane

Loco

i haven't read up so i don't know what's been said but here are some of my thoughts of the past few days while i was out of town playing rugby in front of US national team scouts...

I would like to point out that these are thoughts, and I have no insider evidence to back these ideas up:

Shannon's stipulations mean Marve may not leave. All of the schools he wanted to go to were SEC or florida schools. It may seem like a d*ck move by Shannon, but to me it seems like a way of shannon trying to make Marve grow up, man up, and come back next year and compete.

I also don't see Marve getting out of his scholarship, unless his daddy pays for a year.

Jermaine Mackenzie is gone, but that is not a surprise considering the depth we had here and the fact that Nix is gone and Marve is likely gone

I'm tired of hearing "Nix got fired" because he didn't. His contract just wasn't renewed. There IS a difference.

There's tons of people that can replace Nix, but I don't see it being a big name. IF it is, it might be Chud because of past ties. Besides that, who knows... But Shannon will upgrade for the better. He's shown he's a good talent evaluator and recruiter.. and I don't mean just for players.

Weiner is just defending his loyalties to his player. What he said is not right, he should never take an opportunity away from a player. But if a player wants to go t oMiami from plant, then they will. If they are unsure, you can bet that they will not

Loco

Also, I disagree with all the Marve bashing. He has done the least wrong in all of this. His father and coach have been the problems more than anything

Go Canes!!!

Rashad

Watching USC and seeing how big they are, I hope Miami's new strength coach can get our young boys ready for 09.. Go Canes!!

Cat5 Cane

Feels like negative energy within the force is draining the space... Me thinks and agree to less Marve bashing is better then more... He played his azz off for us.

Enjoyed both points of view, but sometimes it's easier to accept anothers point of view by saying, we agree to disagree, then getting to a pissing match and disrespecting each other... That said, Go screw both of you, because what I believe to be the truth, is the truth... LOL. Randy walks on water but carries water wings, cause he never knows when he might piss the football Gods off... but that's just Randy being Randy.

Can someone tell me who's gone officially.... so far I've read...

Nix... OC and QB coach
Pannunzio... Special Teams and TE's
McGriff... DB's
Swazy... S and C

I wonder if Young is pulling some strings to bring in his ST, S&C, and DB contacts.

Tired of up and coming... hopefully Randy Go's Pro fishing.

Chinese Punisher aka Cavaleer

Loco, Shannon knew the douches Eugene Weiner were shopping Marve behind his back to SEC schools. That's why he banned him from those schools.

Marve hasn't been as bad as his pops and coach but he knew what he did wrong and never said, "I was f'ing up and brought this on myself. I had a better than fair shot and I didn't make it."

The rest, I agree, came from his father and coach, manipulating him and meddling in affairs that aren't theirs.

As for the OC, unless something really bizarre happens, I don't think Chud or Captain Dirk will be leaving the NFL.

And while they would be our dream picks, Mitch Browning at the Cuse ain't chopped liver. He worked wonders at Minnesota and in 2007 at the Cuse.

I think he's our man.

Carlos

Pinoycane nice article on recruiting. Thank you very much. Been here just this evening for a couple hrs....knowledge is much deeper than "other places I've been". I am an experienced player and coach, and after some bad experiences "elsewhere" I hope I can feel welcome here with thoughts, opinions and football experiences from many years.I like it here; hope I can fit in. The Grove, there's always room at the Space. We never get enough thought and insight. After all, most of us are a thousand miles away and are used to feeding off bones from the "traditional" news sources.

Thanks to electronics and Soup, we're dam near in the hallways of Coral Gables itself. lol

Welcome and Bring It! ;-)

OCALACANE

Hey Grove21
Again welcome to the space.
For the fans By the fans...
Post here post often we would enjoy your knowledge and experience...

Chinese Punisher aka Cavaleer

Cat 5, check out Mitch Browning's bio, especially his time at Minnesota.

OCALACANE

Well said Chipun!!!

86Cane

Name one of the two teams (and year) that won the national championship with more passing yards then rushing yards?

moneycane

BYU 1984

Chinese Punisher aka Cavaleer

Soup, that's a good one. Miami 1983.

Thegrove21

TYVM I think I found a real home...seen a lot of UM games all over the USA....my favorite games ever that I saw? 1985 ND at the OB we whipped them from the time they came out the dressing room....First NC game, my uncle was a neighbor to HS, had a great seat...and the VT game (there) when we beat them to go to the RB....saw that from the sideline....got Mt Mckinneys, KD and Clintons graph....BM was so big up close, what a beast!!! Lets get a couple like him!!! I see us playing on that level sooner thasn later.

OCALACANE

UM 1983 Kosar and the Schnell...

SOUP

Chi-Pun U are correct!

Money...U are also correct!!

Grove21...U are IN my friend!!!

Thegrove21

TY glad to be here!!

SOUP

Chi- Pun...Who was the MVP on the 1983 UM team?

SOUP

Not on defense...

SOUP

Only on offense...

Thegrove21

If I recall correctly, Browning and the boys ran the ball pretty good at MN...I am pleased with the passing game this year...could have been even better but the athletes are good, and Jac was pretty good for a young man....I think he will make big tracks in the land (country mans compliment). The 3 young backs and Chambers look good...if JJ can get healthy stay that way...and Coop runs NS and hold the ball...we can attack...we will need some linemen...but lets get that run game going. Its very promising.

j.w.

Happy New Year all. Is there any news at all on the OC replacement?

The Truth

Listen here solar!

GONE, GONZO and Carlos will be the happiest camper on this passed Sunday ALL spelled the same thing:

Nix was fired.

J knows his stuff but I'll not have you giving any credit away from me thank you very much!!

LOL - Just Kidding

J - you gotta get used to words the iPhone likes to correct. This little self correct spell thing rocks but can get annoying when you know what you are writing and the phone fights you.

And all of you should take a few days off the breaking of the OC news speculation. Things are REAL quiet. Something is going down fir sure and no way no how is Shannon going to let it get messed up.

Debose talks to harris just like he does Sheppard (lsu commit) and even Harris is saying the kid is prob not coming to Miami.

I'm telling, if he changes his mind it would be great but he's not going to school with the other 2 for now.

Cat5 Cane

Hey Grove 21... Interesting name...Wasn't there a club in the Grove called Club 21 back in the late 70's/80's... back then was a blurrrr but I think I had enjoyed myself, I think ?

Mitch Browning's Bio looks good.

I'm out to watch remaining VT game

Thegrove21

I would think that Coach has already laid some groundwork. I dont hate Nix, just not an aggressive OC and I find that disturbing. I am sure something good will happen; I await good news.

dlu

Better no news on the oc, last time was not good with the turn downs, leaks and what not.

Thegrove21

Agreed...we all thought Happy New Year this AM....so I imagine it will be. I think Coach is going to get a good OC, a good recruit class and surprise some people who really speak hateful about him. I am behind him.

SOUP

J knows his stuff but I'll not have you giving any credit away from me thank you very much!!

Sorry truth, but J is the NEW truth! U are yesterday's lunch...

LOL

Neither Shephard nor Harris was enough - for now

Soup: very funny but Truth is the Truth

Did everyone notice what style of offense USC was running today. (pro style) Fuk Nix they looked like the old canes running and throwing the ball down field.

good...at least I got my fix about the OC search.

Chinese Punisher aka Cavaleer

To me, the fact that Shannon has isolated and remedied our shortcomings each year leaves no doubt in my mind that he'll find the best guy for S&C and OC.

Plus, having a real AD in Kirby Hocutt makes so much difference. If Hocutt had been here would Shannon really have hired Nix?? It's doubtful because Hocutt would have been able to do a lot of that leg work for Shannon. Paul Dee was not that person.

With Hocutt on board we might have hired Browning or someone like him back then.

From here on out it only gets better.

I know, I'm just trying to make him post something to earn his TOP DOG position!

LOL

Thegrove21

I'm going to watch end of the OB (ouch wish we were playing) but I look forward to being a part of this team. I enjoyed the wealth of information, the kindness and the welcome feeling here. Thank you all very much. Happy New Year to each, and to the 09 season. Check in tomorrow. Good night.

CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) -- Jack McClinton and Cyrus McGowan scored 17 points apiece as Miami beat North Florida 94-41 on Wednesday.

With those 17 points, including three three-pointers, McClinton overtook John Salmons for 17th place on Miami's all-time scoring list with 1,292 career points.

McGowan added 10 rebounds for his second double-double of the season, while redshirt freshman Julian Gamble posted the first of his career with a career-high 13 points and 13 rebounds. It was the first time a pair of Hurricanes registered a double-double since Anthony King and Dwayne Collins managed the feat in a win over FIU on Nov. 11, 2006.

Miami (9-3) expanded on a 38-20 halftime lead and limited the Ospreys to four field goals in the second half. The margin of victory was Miami's largest of the season, surpassing a 96-60 win over Florida Southern on Nov. 15.

The Hurricanes never trailed and kept the Ospreys (2-10) scoreless for the first 6:05 of the game. Miami took the early 9-3 lead and then extended it to 21-8 as McGowan hit two field goals in a 12-5 spurt.

SOUP

Thank you all very much. Happy New Year to each, and to the 09 season. Check in tomorrow. Good night.

Grove21...how would U like 2 FREE tickets to UM-FSU on 1/21?

Thegrove21

Could not help but notice with respect to the Hoops post....Soup you are on top of a lot of UM aspects. Graduation rates, SATs Hoops, FB....as are many of the posters who really "fill in the edges of the map" (Pirates of the Carribean)with the wealth of info.It is genuine, informative and a welcome alternative to many false prophets spouting whimsical loyalty to The U. All of you keep up the great work. Again, thanks to all.

Thegrove21

Soup I live in VA, but bless you. Perhaps we can connect for a FB game in 09...I always have ticks to VT games in B burg.

"he's not going to school with the other 2 for now."

Gosh, that's a shame. Ray Ray and Dyron are such the consolation prize for whoever gets 'em.
