The Truth

I'll pay up when Marve reports. That said...good for him. Great choice and I honestly can not believe they made such good decision.

Maybe this will be the beginning of Bobby growing up and daddy letting go a bit.

No more excuses now.

Great blob write up by the way...

Man can't beleive we're not even in June yet. Can't wait for this season start. I just want the boys on D to decapitate a GT RB on that option and for our O to make those farm boys from OK wonder what happened as guys like the Blur and Pimp house one and then the big boys like AJ, Streeter and Byrd snatch one from the heavens (the game capped by Mike James running through an OU DB in the 4th would be the exclamation point)

Great write-up! I'm suddenly excited to see what Whip has put together for us. I have no doubt it will be WAY more exciting than what we've been tortured with these past few years.

Don't be sorry, everything's better when WET! ;-)

Go bayside, flats fishing and it's no problem, always close to shore if it gets nasty and no wave action. Plus bonefish don't spook in the rain. Harder to sight fish but when you know where they are on the outgoing and incoming tides it ain't no thing.

University of Miami junior closer Kyle Bellamy was named to the 2009 All-Atlantic Coast Conference First Team, as announced by Commissioner John Swofford on Monday. In addition to Bellamy’s first-team honor, three other Hurricanes – second baseman Scott Lawson, catcher Yasmani Grandal and starter Chris Hernandez – were named to the league’s second team.

Bellamy closed out the regular season with a league-high 15 saves, six more than any other ACC reliever. On the year, Bellamy is 3-1 with a 1.09 ERA, allowing just five earned runs while striking out 58 in 41 1/3 innings of work. Eleven of his 15 saves have come in more than an inning of work, while he is holding his opponents to a .151 batting average against him.

Snappers is a great choice, 86. Be sure to say hello to Howard, the owner... he's a DIEHARD Canes fan. :)

The Truth

....and she not tall either

KLCaneFan

BUT I have to point out that Snappers is in Key Largo, not Tavernier... :D

JCane

Well, the Marlins did it again, blowing a 2 run lead by giving up 5 in the 7th. Anyone here think the Fish will finish better than 20 under 500%? I don't. Hopefully the Canes will pull together the bats they showed vs. WFU against G. Tech tomorrow.

BTW, for Capt. O...it is interesting how many medical disorders have cultural components. An advantage in one environment suddenly becomes a problem in another one. It is part of life (ie why whales now live in the ocean). Amazing examples include why African-Americans (btw, why do we all have to be something Americans? Are there any African-Canadians or Japanese-Mexicans?) are more likely to have sickle cell disease and hypertension. The trait for sickle cell disease helped people survive malaria, which made it a genetic advantage even if 1/4 of the people got the full disorder and died early. However, without malaria around, who needs it? Also, hypertension tendencies made it easier to stay hydrated and survive the terrible voyage over from Africa to America. The other folks were more likely to die. Now, the survivors' genes are shared by way too many people who don't consider this an advantage.

Okay. I want no more medical topics if I can help it, and I'm staying away from the controversial stuff. :)

JCane

So Truth, do you go to Gustos if it's 12/12 and you know the world is going to go anyway (especially if there are some, shall we say, attractive folks around? I know. Only if you get to discuss the history of the "Heats" franchise with Timmy Hardaway! I'm glad I wasn't the only one who remembered that one. Why isn't the Phoenix franchise the "Sun" instead of the Suns anyway?

Chinese Punisher aka Cavaleer

Chris, great work as usual. I've always enjoyed your blob.

Chinese Punisher aka Cavaleer

JCane, yeah, it interesting how a benefit in one climate can be a deathblow in another. I have a tenant who has sickle-cell and I can attest that it's one of the most bizarre illnesses on the map. The cells "sickle" with changes in the barometric pressure, year round. It's like walking and sleeping on needles. But he grins and bears it, and none of his children have it thankfully. He knows he could die any day but he troops on, nonetheless.

As far as Africa is concerned, the only African-Americans I know are Barack Obama, John Kerry's wife, and a few Nigerians I met in NYC. I guess our Cane Ojomo would fall in that category as well.

Everyone else I know who has larger amounts of melanin in their skin is American, for a long, long time.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

F. S. U. W 38-20
G-tech W 42-17
V-tech W 28-10

Miami has no excuse to not be 3-0 facing Oklahoma at home.

>>>>>

G&T, you blew my Captain Optimist title right out of the water!!! haha

If we drop 42 on GT and hold them to 17, I'll be right with you on the 12% bandwagon.

Chris, you really brought the gospel with this blob!

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

G&T, you also set yourself up to bytch and moan if we lose one or even two of those games.

We're talented but still inexperienced. A lot depends on what these guys are doing right now and for the next two months before fall ball.

I think we have enough Shannonites on board that they're spending the off-season doing the things the classic Canes did. We'll find out in two months.

JCane

The Lakers are up in a good one with just five seconds left. The FT makes it a 3 point game. Denver hits the first, now 2 points down, 3 seconds left. That's the ballgame. The Lakers show some character and hold the home court edge in game one when everyone figured they were ripe for the fall.

Calvin

As far as this team is concerned, their is nobody in the acc with more talent than we have, that's the 1st thing. The only thing the teams we lost to had that was better than us was offensive coordinators, and that got addressed in the good article written up top! I would even venture out to say that we actually got a better teaching defensive coordinator in lovett. While bill young had he stayed would have been effective for sure, against g-tech i was real dissappointed that he had the safeties playing that far away from the line.

Against the option you just need 1 safety back, and man up those wide outs and force them to become a passing team, to many times the safeties were lined up 10 & 1 yards over the top of the tight-ends for nothing. At some point you just tell your db's, you're on your own, and let the other 9 to 10 people in the box shut the run crap down.

He was feeling his way, and it was just his first year with us, would have been good to keep him for stability purposes though but oh well, i think lovett will love it here! And he seems to be more of a common sense d-coordinator like shannon. The one thing about shannon was, he was going to make sure his defenses took the things the oppossing offense does best away, and make somebody else beat you, which normally never happened.

When young made the comment well i guess shannon's a better defensive coordinator than i am, has young ever won the top assistant award as d-coordinator! That being said, we'll be real solid on defense, the question that remains to be seen is, how aggressive will our defense be this year!

Now, honestly, how hard is it going to be for our offense to look better than it did last year. Hell alot of us in here could have called beter plays than nix last year. You can almost count how many deep passes we threw last year on both hands. I bet california was surprised that jacory threw that deep pass to hankerson.

shannon had a gamke plan coming in, and he's carrying it out to perfection even while taking chances. They're using their own eye's to spot talent and that's the way you really do it!

soup, what's closer, driving to usf from the marve's house or flying to purdue/tennessee, cause i think that's how thy're looking at it!

Jeremy Davis is going to be better then Phillip Buchannon @ the U and that says a lot because #31 was a 1st rd draft pick, something we did not have this past yr He was drafted ahead of ED REED by the way look at the scouting report on him coming out of college.http://archive.profootballweekly.com/content/archives2001/draft_2001/scoutingreports_db.asp
Let me break down why. 1st Ok bloodlines PB and JD are Half brothers, no one on here brought up that they are also the cousin of Jevon Kearse, that is a lot of talent in those veins you can not help but to be good. 2nd When PB was in high school and college he did not have an older brother who was a former Cane and 1st RD pick showing him how to be successful, JD does. 3. JD is bigger and even faster then PB who was not big but plenty fast, PB goes 5'10 185 he ran a 10.5 in the 100 and a 21.8 in the 200 PH was such a good athlete he was offered 500,000 to play baseball for the REDS but went with football.
http://hurricanesports.cstv.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/buchanon_phillip00.html

People forget how good Buchannon was
http://www.nytimes.com/2001/11/27/sports/colleges-hurricanes-buchanon-might-be-the-best-of-the-best.html?n=Top/Reference/Times%20Topics/Organizations/U/University%20of%20Miami

but JD is going to be better. He is 6'1 176 and just as fast and getting faster. He recently ran a personal Best in the 100 meters and the kid is just getting better. He is already Bigger the DVD and just as fast.

by the way check out this interview with ED Reed before he got drafted, it is classic cane, He worked for Blockbuster Video his soph YR lol http://archive.profootballweekly.com/content/archives2001/draft_2001/combine_qanda_reed.asp
