Each year at Canespace we recognize bloggers who have made significant contributions to the blog during the year. The nominees are often defined as: "Hard core Hurricane fans that have a computer glued to their hands"
This special breed of "five star" bloggers work hard all year long to achieve greatness. They have been known to blog morning, noon and night even during the dead season of Summer. They write features for the blog, recruit new bloggers, make strategic connections, take pictures, cover events and contribute in many ways to our success.
Last year, the first ever class of CSROH 2008 selections chosen by the fans were:
- Manny Navarro
- The Truth
- SolarCane
- Cavaleer (AKA ChinesePunisher, Captain Optimist)
- CanesGirlNC.
This year the nominees are:
Cat5: King of the early morning bloggers and known to attend any and every Canespace event ever held this blogger has had his picture taken with more cheerleaders, players, fans (and some people we don't even know) than any other Canespacer. Cat5, seen here with his favorite player Arthur Bown, even developed a Canespace decal for cars (seen at TOP RIGHT), has made several suggestions on how to improve the blog and according to his wife wears Canespace to bed. Now that is committment! And, I think it is important to know that Canespace official photographer OcalaCane nominated and endorsed Cat5 for the CSROH.
Six: This long time Canespacer formerly known simply as Six is now referred to as the "Artist known as Six". No blogger is more knowledgeable, more articulate or more savvy than numero seis. This guy can name the starting lineup of the Canes 1983 National Championship team, the 2001 National Championship baseball team and the ACLS Champion 2008 Tampa Bay Rays. He writes comments that could be features, has a incredible sense of humor and he shows up when it counts. Six, who is seen here on the field at the 2008 ACC Championship game in Tampa has multiple nominations for this elite award. Vote for him now and often.
UMike: This freshman blogger is relatively new to the Space but like Sean Spence has made a sudden and significant impact on the blog since his arrival. He has written three articles, developed our current banner at the top of the blog and is a regular on The Space. He has attended events, taken photos aqnd helped support our growth and popularity. This young gun, seen here at The UM Spring scrimmage with his son, should be given some serious consideration.
bg1906: He is legend! His 2009 National Signing Day coverage was beyond compare. His incredible research and rapid fire comments on NSD will be the standard by which all others will be measured. You would have thought that he had a private line to Coaches Shannon and Hurtt or had tapped into the fax machine at The Hecht Center or something. Then he tops that off with his annual GAMER feature on EA Sports NCAA 10. Beat that! This is my nomination and to me a no-brainer.
Canechic: The hard-core female phenom has given Canespace her all. A consistent blogger during football, baseball and basketball seasons, she is a serious sports fanatic that knows her stuff about plays, players and keeps score during the many heated battles on the blog. Her husband Angry (seen here at right with son Nick, daughter Nicole and former UM WR Brett Perriman) is also a Spacer. Canechic and her son Nick went with Canespace to the UM-FSU game at The Doak in 2007. But better yet, her daughter Nicole was accepted to UM this year and will be a Sunsation come Fall. Canechic was nominated by last year's inductee CanesgirlNC.
Calvin: This fire breathing, gator hating, blog busting contributor has been with Canespace since we started in June of 2007. Calvin is not only the King of YouTube, an original Spacer but also holds the record for the logest comment on the blog. As blogger RoachCane77 once said the instant you read the first two lines of a Calvin post you absolutely know who it is from. Calvin's rants and tirades against outsiders and for the Hurricanes are legendary. You step on Superman's cape, don't spit into the wind, you don't pull the mask off the outlaw ranger and you don't mess with Calvin! Calvin was nominated by CSROH08 inductee SolarCane.
Canez1: This hard hitting and sometimes controversial blogger brings his "A game" everyday. He has been known to insult, confront and even embarrass weaker bloggers in their futile attempts to explain themselves against one of his now famous tirades. He is a recruiting guru who at time knows more truth than SupeCooper, 321Cane, bg or The Truth combined. He is also an original Canespacer from back in the day and that carries some weight too.
Bloggers who deserve an "Honorable Mention": Esteban (original Canespacer and a popular fan's choice); Aqua (another original Spacer, frequent participant at events and Titanic regular); SuperCooper (recruiting guru and NSD contributor); too many others to name.

Todays favorite artist lyrics sent to me
from the Rock and Roll Geeks
Warren Zevon lyrics.
for my next trick
I can saw a woman in two
But you won't want to look in the box when I do
I can make love disappear
For my next trick I'll need a volunteer
back in the high life again
It used to seem to me
That my life ran on too fast
And I had to take it slowly
Just to make the good parts last
ill sleep when im dead
I'm drinking heartbreak motor oil and Bombay gin
I'll sleep when I'm dead
Straight from the bottle, twisted again
I'll sleep when I'm dead
poor poor pitiful me
She really worked me over good
She was a credit to her gender
She put me through some changes, Lord
Sort of like a Waring blender
excitable boy
Well, he went down to dinner in his Sunday best
Excitable boy, they all said
And he rubbed the pot roast all over his chest
Excitable boy, they all said
werewolves of london
He's the hairy handed gent who ran amuck in Kent
Lately he's been overheard in Mayfair
Better stay away from him
He'll rip your lungs out, Jim
I'd like to meet his tailor
Werewolves of London
lawyers guns and money
Now I'm hiding in Honduras
I'm a desperate man
Send lawyers, guns and money
The shyt has hit the fan

naw skool, I just remember a lot of useless crap.
"Jiminy In The Buckhole!" sounds a lot like a late night military school game
it also sounds like something Truth might utter right after Cooper dances around and get blasted into the turf.

Jiminy in Buckhole could be a military school game. At the very least, it sounds like something involving a crowbar and KY.

93 days to football against FSU at The Doak.
103 days until the first home game against GT.
Yeah, the waiting is the hardest part...

websense was tried out on the chinese citezenry first, it worked so well for them that "the man" has imposed it on me at work.
DATcane, websense rejects tangle.com
Six, Last of the Mohicans when the main guy is running along the cliffs and messing up warriors along the way with his dad and brother...and the music... the music in the background is building... and then the younger daughter falls off the cliff rather than go with the evil indian from dances with wolves.
Ya that movie is all right I guess.
Posted by: DZ8 | June 06, 2009 at 02:57 PM
Last of the Mohicans was filmed at Lake Lure and Chimney Rock, NC. A truely beautiful place if you are ever up that way.

86 - how are u doing? I finally got my laptop working well enough to post on this incredible site... hehe!
Has there been a player profile on Jacory done? I'm thinking about doing one for the site. . . . So be on the look out.
Solar - sorry about not responding to your email when I specificallhy asked you to reach out to me. Like I was saying to 86 my computer has been broken and I wasn't able to open emails or post on sites. I had a virus. But I wanted to ask you about your thoughts on starting a small business, I work in management for Verizon but I want do creat something on my own. I was thinking about doing consulting because every I do at Verizon is analysis, reporting, training, creating spreadsheets and reports for teams, supervisors and managers. I'm just not sure how to get started and to get my name out there? This really goes for anybody that thinks they could help.. I'm open to all advice, I've heard it takes a lot of listening to realize what makes sense in life. I'm not sure if you will be able to help Solar, it just seems like you are a very enlightened dude and I trust your opinion.
There was an intriguing questions somebody posted on another site that I'd like to bring up here....If Jacory went down, would the season be over? Is Whipple good enough to work wtih the other QB's? Do we have anough on defense to make up for the lack of offense? Who would be the QB that goes in? Cook,Cannon, or the rookie A.J. Highsmith? Then somebody mentioned going spread and throwing Ray Ray at QB and I actually got a little bit excited. Anybody think if God forbid Jacory did go down that they rather see us put the best athletes on the field? Spread out the defense with 4 WR's. Laron Byrd and Thearon Collier(or Kendall Thompkins) to the left, Aldarius Johnson and Travis Benjamin to the right and Ray Ray at QB with Cooper next to him in the backfield. No huddle, moving guys in motion, bringing Cooper out of the flats, running the QB option. There would be a lot of possibilities.
Ofcourse I pray everyday that Jacory stays healthy and leads us to an amazing year. I think we have a lot of things to be optimistic about canespacers and I hope you are all ready for an amazing season.,
I wanted to also make an announcement, for those of you who enjoyed my piece "Ode to a fallen Cane", I'm getting married in November I will be going to Italy for my honeymoon. I'd like to take a bit of my grandfather's ashes to Italy back to his homeland. The trip is going to be cutting it fairly close on our budget, if you feel compelled, I would take a donation just as help. I know everybody is roughing it right now in this economy and nobody has to give me anything but, if you were touched by the article and would like to make sure you can help with the trip I would greatly appreciate it..
Just shoot me an e-mail at kenneth.c.disalvo@verizon.com
Thank you and God Bless,
Canesawmassacre

Fantasy is back.. Back again..
Okay so the hurricanes make you get out of your chair. but lately they've been making me pull out my hair. Shannon is the man he will lead us to glory. so drink up your kool aid in hurry. take out your five dollar bills in a flurry. The hurricanes will be great once again. Once again!!
This song is dedicated to living in a fantasy world..
Ladies get naked.(excluding Canechic and Canegirl unless you want too in which soup should develop a calendar and sell it for top dollar)
Can you tell I am white?

Mid-day saturday, 93 some days away from first game, no one is offended CaneSawM.
Ode-to-a-fallen-Cane was tight. You'll always miss him but you'll begin to appreciate more what he gave to you rather than being sad about him being gone.
Posted by: DZ8 | June 06, 2009 at 04:13 PM
Yes I agree with that DZ8, it will be bittersweet but as I get married and look forward to starting me family I can't wait to pass on the legacy and tradition that he passed to my dad and left with me to continue with my kids.
(I was going to say sons, but I wouldn't doubt that I'll have my girl/girls watching Hurricane football as well)

Actually, the table knives (which come in sets of 4) are a lot cheaper than the whole set. The best part is, if you dont like them you can send them back for a full refund (btw the red support the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women)

canechic - watching the FSU game was great, to see them get their hearts ripped out after being down by 2 in the top of the 9th .. then coming back to go up by 1 run b/c the Arkansas pitcher's slider was getting abused, but he kept tossing it up there for them to hit ... then Arkansas coming back in the bottom of the 9th with a 2 run double to end it in FSU's house ..... it's like being a pyro and watching their house burn down right in front of you.
Posted by: Six | June 06, 2009 at 04:55 PM
Six I loved every minute of it! Their curse still lives!!!!!
