solar, watch kevin garnett, you know that's exactly what his mind was thinking!

Calvin

The only thing they trying to do now is keep ojomo and the other players from retaliating.

As far as soup goes, either soup has small hands or she use to be a wide receiver somewhere. Is that the jello shot cake lady!

Daytoncane

Jcane, it wouldnt be very wise to tell about a player's injury anyway.

for example, if you have a knee injury but decide to play anyway, dont you think other players will go after your knee on purpose? that's one reason why coaches like Bill Belichick dont discuss injuries.

another reason randy doesnt have to tell these reporters anything is that half of them want him fired anyway. they never wanted him to be the head coach anyway. a black man in the south coaching one of college football's most storied programs? see if you find a lot of people that are ok with that. he probably knows what the public opinion is about him, but he takes it all in stride. he's beaten the odds before, and he can certainly do it again.

canezilla

i had summer school one year ,never went to school i was at the 163rd all summer.

dj moonbat

" a black man in the south coaching one of college football's most storied programs?"

Miami's not "the South." It's more Caribbean than Southern.

Calvin

Yep, the "Miami's not South" statement is a statement that makes us all seem dumb to outsiders, because we're the southern most state mao wise, next stop, Cuba.

The culture is the furthest thing from what people consider the "SOUF" this ain't Georgia, Mississippi or Alabama Souf. The media here just don't like shannon because he doesn't give a rats nickle about trying to please them. Hell, i luv the information lockdown around coral gables. He gave the media their chance and they became a distraction to him and what he's trying to get done. He allowed them into a spring practice, next thing he and alot of us know, it was filmed and put on youtube.

Shut them out randy and put a sign on the gate that says "quit whining, and go buy tickets like everybody else so you can really know after the game".

DJ,

Carribean? Most of the Carribeans in South Florida have a southern accent(even hispanics). If they don't, they probably just got here. Give'em a few years & they'll have 1. Southern culture has rubbed off more on the islanders than vice versa. This is the south. It's just the multi-cultural mecca of the south...

it could only be carribean because of all the immigrants there. but its still the southern most city in north america.

Man, did it look like my putting a few thoughts down get some folks in a tither. Calvin and Dayton, I think you guys need to reread what I wrote. I never said we should know anything about who's injured or what happened. Just the opposite. I said there are other ways to make it clear no info. is going to be shared than outright lying to someone. We may disagree about how Randy did this, not whether anybody, reporter or otherwise, had the right to know the details, which we didn't/don't. I completely respect the team's need/right to keep issues like these in house, as well as injuries private. I just think Randy should be consistent in making it obvious that he's not going to discuss these types of things, like A. Brown making it clear to questions about distractions along the lines of I don't worry about those things. Dodge or avoid the questions all you want, but if you outright lie and get caught in it, you look a lot worse then if you simply choose to not discuss. Part of his job is PR. I'm done on this topic all. Back to regular Canespeak. Peace all on the Space. Catch you over the weekend, and still way looking forward to seeing how the staff coaches and the players play come FSU more than anything right now.

Calvin

Maybe you need to go back a read what a lie is, and than go back and put the tissue down so you can stop crying like shannon stole something from you or something. Have you ever seen 2 people playing and than one all of a sudden gets serious and throws a blow, is that a fight or more towards horsing around.

Leave it be, before u have no home

The "Southerners" in Miami are the old-school folks that settled there before the glitz and neon of South Beach. You can tell a true old-timer by the way they pronounce Miami. It is MY-AM-A.

After carefully reviewing this whole Ojomo situation I've come to the conclusion that 86 has an enormous head.

Daytoncane

Jcane,

i think randy made it clearly obvious by stating "horsing around" repeatedly. im pretty sure he wasn't the one who said a walk-on sucker punched ojomo.

I agree with everything you say, Jcane. And for what ti's worth, Randy is really stretching the definition of "horseplay" with this one, based on the HS coach's remarks. Coach isn't doing himself or the U any favors on this, he needs to just say "internal issue" or words to that effect if he doesn't want to discuss matters. That's just my opinion and I'm hoping the issue gets forgotten quickly, so I'm not going to bring this up again. And I do respect all opinions to the contrary

New Orleans Saints tight end Jeremy Shockey took refuge from the heat under a canopy on the sideline, sipping from a small bottle of Gatorade, and he never saw Andre Johnson coming.

In passing, Johnson tipped Shockey's drink, causing some to trickle down Shockey's chin. Laughing, Shockey playfully chased Johnson for a few yards, but Johnson, a speedy receiver, avoided the bulky tight end.

“I'll get you back later, ‘Dre,” Shockey jokingly shouted at Johnson.

That friendly incident happened early Thursday and had nothing to do with the morning practice that became Wrestlemania.

“Did you see all these Miami guys out here getting in the fights?” Saints receivers coach Curtis Johnson said with a grin. “That's how we do it, I guess.”

Johnson was receivers coach at Miami from 1996-05 and coached Johnson and Shockey when the Hurricanes were the 2001 national champions.

Center Chris Myers and tackles Eric Winston and Rashad Butler were also on the team.
One of the best

The Saints also have former Hurricanes in linebacker Jonathan Vilma and tight end Buck Ortega, bringing the number to seven former Miami players on the Texans and Saints rosters from a team that is considered one of the best in college football history

“We already have a few guys on our team that played together at Miami,” Winston said. “But with the Saints here, there's even more guys that were on that team.

“It's always awesome to go up to those guys and reminisce about the good old days.”
Keeping Winston in line

Winston said that having several college teammates around him with the Texans keeps him grounded in his NFL career. He said Butler and Johnson were the same shy and soft-spoken players at Miami that they are with the Texans.

But when asked about reuniting with other Miami teammates, Johnson had plenty to say.

“Every time we get together, it seems like we talk more about what we did in college rather than what we're doing now on the football field,” Johnson said. “Those are the moments that you really cherish.

“We won a national championship together, and that's something you'll never ever forget, and it's a bond you'll always have. We really don't talk much about football at all.”

According to Shockey, Johnson doesn't talk much at all.

“Andre's a silent assassin, and there's not many juicy college stories about him,” Shockey said. “But he's obviously the same hard-working guy that likes to get better.”

Curtis Johnson, the receivers coach, agreed with Shockey about Johnson's work ethic and added that Andre's personality has gone largely unchanged.

“Shockey is a different story though,” Curtis Johnson said. “He never said two words at Miami and now look at him.

“But he's still a great player and an excellent playmaker, just like he was at Miami.”

Johnson said coaches were impressed with Andre at Miami Senior High School, but he was redshirted as a college freshman because he was behind two seniors in Reggie Wayne and Santana Moss.

Ortega, who was Johnson's high school teammate, was also redshirted as a freshman.

“You never think about playing with your teammates after Miami because everyone's just dreaming about playing in the NFL,” Ortega said. “We were just a bunch of kids that were given a great opportunity to make something of ourselves at Miami.”
Not everything is fair game

As far as funny tales and embarrassing moments from college, most players were unwilling to out their former teammates, even though they play on opposing teams that can't seem to get along.

“I have plenty of stories about Eric and several about Chris,” Shockey said. “But I'll have to keep those in house.”

whats up fellas, keep your heads up losing Ojomo and Moncur hurts but at least we still have all the other studs on the team ready to go. Besides if our Linebackers and help stop the run we should be fine. I mean we still got MROB and Bailey along with Fortson. Not to mention an emerging Vernon and hopefully Dye will come around. I have not heard anything about Dye though so..... Not sure but Wesley can ball and Smith is decent.. Just can not wait for the first offense series.. So whats your take do we score on our first offensive drive of the season? I say we do....
