SOUP

DAT...U are like butter, because U are on a roll!

Hurriphin

Dat,

Me & you gotta split that tee. SOUP jerked me again!

Canez1

LMAO at T's question for Manny!!!!

Hmmmmm something doesn't sound right!!

What say U?? LOL

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Hurriphin

Leggett is a Bartow boy ain't he? No excuse for him not being able to channel his inner-floridian.

SOUP

CANEZ1...I just posted what was sent to me? LMAO

DATcane

Hurriphin U got this one....... I am good mang. Soup U get my email the other day didn't get a response from U?

Esteban

we've had so many Texas canes come in and do big things that Lance Leggett sucking shouldn't be something that gets brought up about recruits from Texas. Jason Fox - texas recruit. Jessie Armstead if you wanna go back a ways. And lots in between. Wasn't Akieem Jolla from Louisiana? Means we pay more attention to him being from there than Reggie Wayne or Ed Reed?

Esteban

i find myself disagreeing with Manny more each time. But still appreciate him coming and giving real opinions instead of "go to the website and pay for a subscription for my opinion" responses.

klcanefan

I was literally laughing my a off @ the truth question! You're too much, 86! :D

Hurriphin

Personally, I'm counting on Malcolm Bunche EVENTUALLY making amends for Orien Harris' underachievement, while he was here.
I went to school with Orien, (and worked summer youth with his former 1st rnd. bust older brother Kwame) and he shoulda' repped DE alot better than that.

SOUP

DAT...got your email and responded, don't understand what happened? I liked the idea U had a for a blog article. No specific criteria, just not too long. I'll edit and add photos.

"His" interview on Hurricane Hotline this week was EXCELLENT! There is info about "him" on the UM web site also.

Who knew that The Truth was a closet AJ fan? Who knew? LMAOAROTF

Texascane

OU, Texas and LSU seem to do okay with Texas kids.

22 starting QB's in Division I last year were from Texas HS.

Three of the top five Heisman vote getters last year were from Texas high schools.

Texas High Schoolers won the Biletnikoff, Walter Camp, Ray Guy, Lombardi Award and the Nagurski last year.

Maybe we just aren't too good at picking them...or maybe we just aren't too good with them after we get them.

Esteban

Texascane, it's just selective memory with the Texas recruit comment.

SOUP

or maybe we just aren't too good with them after we get them.

Posted by: Texascane | August 22, 2009 at 01:46 PM

OUCH

Esteban

Texas, Cali and Louisiana have always been places where we plucked a few guys from.

Esteban

looked back at the 2001 roster. 4 canadians. Kehoe must have been a fan of skiing or snowboarding...something.

The Truth

WTF??!!

I must have been on a serious bender cuz I don't even remotely remember writing such a question

LMAO

Anyway Canez, KL...I'm pretty sure soup is getting back for this:

I was doing a little demolition work over on Killian Dr and about 97th ave. Digging around the rubble of one of the houses we pulled out some old VHS home movies. After carefully reviewing them I think I may have stumbled up some clips of SOUP and his parents from when he was a wee laddeh.
Could this be pre-puberty 86??

The Truth

Anyone with iPhone know if the copy and paste feature is unique the my new 3gs or is it included in any updates.

Either way, along with the video, it's awesome. Any non iphoners out there should seriously consider getting one. It's addicting though. I get yelled at all the time for not paying attention to people when I'm out and about LOL

Be good guys. Have a great day.

Esteban

86, don't worry i got your back. 86 head isn't huge. He's got a regular sized head. His face just is about double the size of a normal face. The skull? Regular size!

Esteban

Truth, copy and paste feature was part of the OS 3.0 update for the iphone and ipod touch 2nd generation. I got the 2nd gen Touch so am appreciating the copy and paste feature. i played with an iphone 3g S and am wishing i wasn't under contract with t-mobile so i could go ahead and make the switch.

canezilla

Not a peep out there about the scrimmage?

Six, Canezitis, Sniper, Super, KillerBeez and Ferman all picked Ojomo as their LOF.

ALL appear out of the running for defensive LOF 2009.

Anybody who picked Jacory / Spence should be disqualified!

coldcane

Child Please Soup...the fact that Jacory isn't on any national award list makes him legit for the LOF...I could understand if he was being hyped as an all American or something, but the fact of the matter is he's on my MY Heisman list which makes him a must on my LOF...by the way you all are sleeping on #1. I have the firm of Harris & Harris as my LOF and the glove will fit!

Don't forget Kevin Williams!

dj moonbat

"ALL appear out of the running for defensive LOF 2009."

Maybe there should be an honorary award, for Ojomo's jaw, like giving somebody a posthumous Oscar.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

BG, I was thinking about Williams too. I think he and Armstead were the first big TX recruits to shine at the U. But they had that mentality, no doubt.

Hurriphin, I like that call, "his inner Floridian." Haha. That's classic and true.

Good questions for Manny. Interesting that reporters haven't seen much practice. Hmmm. I think that's a good thing nowadays. haha

JUCO would be a very good solution to our TE woes. Shockey anyone??

Truth, BG Canez1 et al, any chance a good FSU beatdown and an ACC championship brings Joyner to our side??

pb(CSROH10)

Dont forget about Damione Lewis.

360Cane

Wassup peeps?!

86,

LOF for the 2009 season will be...drum roll...

Defense = VT

Offense = Xzhibit, aka, The Duper Project

dj moonbat

Yeah, there are lots of states (cough - OHIO) that think they play serious football, but don't. Texas, IMHO, isn't one of those states. We can take pride in South Florida football, but Texas is a worthy competitor in the high school football arms race.

Fran

Soup I guess I'm just a little bit slow....just realized I picked 2 defensive players. No one corrected me and when I just looked at the list I realized my mistake. If you wish to correct it my choice for offensive player to replace Mcgee would be Streeter. Keep M.Robinson on "D".
Fran

Daytoncane

and why doesn't ohio play serious football? i guess randy didnt get that memo seeing as he went after marcus hall pretty hard.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Miami's not "the South." It's more Caribbean than Southern.

Posted by: dj moonbat | August 21, 2009 at 11:18 PM

>>>>

Miami's deep South but at the same time a distinct style of Southern, just listen to Shannon talk. Caribbean immigrants have been there in any meaningful way only in the last few decades, arguably the last 50 years.

But like most port cities anywhere in the world, especially of a great nation, one finds a variety of foreign flavors in SoFL.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Canesniper, I take Us being "fine" to mean that the players behind Ojomo will dominate just like he was projected to dominate.

But since we're only in Year 2 of the Rebuild, I'd say there are still a few questions.

Texascane

Eric Winston was pretty good, as well.

Mr Troutman

This video is for Calvin ....man every time i see and hear this it just get me CRUNK AND FIRED UP FOR THE SEASON!!!!!!!!!

dj moonbat

"Caribbean immigrants have been there in any meaningful way only in the last few decades, arguably the last 50 years."

But Miami is only a few decades old.

There is no "Southern" culture in Miami to speak of (when was the last time you saw a confederate flag or statue in Miami? and the soul food is different, too.). There is TONS of Caribbean culture (the Caribbean is NOT just the English-speaking Caribbean; it includes Cubans/Hatians, e.g.)

swamper

soup my L.O.F is pimp and cookie

Mr Troutman

Shut them out randy and put a sign on the gate that says "quit whining, and go buy tickets like everybody else so you can really know after the game".

I got your LOF updates. Will fix later.

Windy1

These Canes are loaded, and I think that they will surprise people both on the field this year and eventually on NFL draft day.

When I was at the spring scrimmages this year, for the first time in a few years, I felt that these Canes LOOK physically like the Canes of old - esp. size and speed. The last two years under Coker and the first two years under Shannon, you always felt that they were smaller and slower (less athletic) than what we had seen on the Canes sideline in the past. Vegas Franklin, for example, comes to mind.

Now, the Canes look bigger and faster - they have the athletes that look the part, and they can play the part. I see it even in this 2010 recruiting class. There is not another ACC roster that the Canes would trade for their own. They are, hands down, the most talented team in the ACC. I think the Canes roster is full of NFL potential at every position.

Still, they must go out there and work their butts off and prove it to the world, and I think they can.

Eight wins will be less than their potential, and double-digit wins are more like it. I wouldn't be surprised if these Canes are playing in a BCS bowl at the end of the year, they are that talented.

elliott

wow good to hear and thank you for your insight. I haven't had the opportunity to see the process and progression first hand so that is good to hear.

UMike

Windy1...I myself thought the SAME thing! Watching the spring game and cane fest etc..they look like college players, not high school kids that never developed.

Daytoncane

marcus fortson basically guaranteed at the U.S. Army All Star game that by his second year miami would be in a BCS game. i think most on this board would agree.

UMike

i dont see any reason we cant make it to a bcs game. I think the only reason we didnt last year was #1, Patrick Nix, #2 all those true freshman wearing down the stretch and the cokerites playing lb in the GT game. I mean we are one tackle or antone smith one fantom pass interfence call away from beating FSU, even with nix. Same with UNC, I blow play away, and one bad read by Marve on the last drive away. Again..all with Nix calling a horrible game outside of the first quarter. I mean, GT kick our azzes, no doubt..but we did beat VT the eventualy ACC champs, we beat that azz!! You add in Whipple, and real athletes on D and another year and experience so they wont wear doen the stretch and you got a acc title i fnot talk about a bcs title.
