BEERicane

Who do I contact about the shirt?

Also, Bosher can count for LOF? I thought it was offense and defense not spec teams. jk. that is a good pick.

CanesgirlNC

BEERicane - after Bosher slammed that guy at the FLorida game last year? LOL, elevated his status a whole lot :-D

solarcane

Beer,

Ocala - I want to know how you wash that shirt and still keep those signatures looking so fresh. I wash mine once and you can't tell if it's Jacory Harris' signature or Ed Harris.....lol.

I'll fix it. Shields getting a LOT of love here on the Space. Got an email from his dad. His picks for LOF?

Byrd / Shields

SS Sr. says that Sam says Byrd is the most difficult to cover due to his heigth and build.

Confirms that JJ is looking good after losing weight, is now quicker, faster and ready to roll in 2009.

dj moonbat

If Bosher actually ends up being a LOF, that's super-bad news. I think he's going to have many, many fewer opportunities to show off his punting this year.

BEERicane

I hope he has fewer chances because one of them always ends up being a shank during a crucial part of the game.

Also SS Sr picking Shields as a LOF shows he is completely unbiased. : )

He kicked our arses as an 8th grader on his way to winning State. He played for Kendall Acres before moving to HML.

JameriCane

Picked up my season tickets. Realized I can't make the GA Tech game because it's on a Thursday 9/17/09. Anyone want to buy them at face value? $19 each in what was known as the West End Zone.

What's going on fellas

It's about that time where we get these hurricanes rolling fellas..... I personally feel that it's a toss up between aj and Byrd for the top recebers on the team both are physical an get the yards needed.... I think we won't skip a beat on the dline with the losses of moncur and ojomo these young cats are ballaZ hands downn wtchout for dyron dye and Vernon .....

Glad to see my boy shields putting in work on the secondary he's gonna turn heads

myndraize

Let's not worry about Ojomo and Moncur, instead feed off what Vernon,Dye,and Smith should and will bring.Ojomo may have lost his spot Tough! take it back.the guy that bothers me is G.Hardin, second year in a row he's in-active,should we bring in Ego Ferguson and/or Corey Lemonier he may live on the scout team.

CaneSawMassacre

86.. Does that mean I PPBC will be hitting me up with some jello shots...? Tell the Cougar to watch out, LOL!

I couldn't stop laughing when Joe Rose was talking about Cougars on his morning show, just asking everybody about his son.. That guy has no boundaries. ( I think he takes jello shots before work)

Well some people are just lucky that way!

CaneSawMassacre

And how sweet would it be to see Shields take DVD's spot, and ball out.

To me nobody is on a hotter seat than DVD, man the phuck or step out the way..

Got some studs waiting to eat up your PT.

myndraize thanks for confirming what my old memory drug up.
BTW my oldest son was Mike Shula's first quarterback on the Miami Lakes 75# intermural football team

Esteban

why would it be sweet to see Shields take DVD's spot? hopefully he's playing good enough that he's truly an option. But am hoping DVD has taken his game to the next level as well. Competition is a great thing.

86Cane

why would it be sweet to see Shields take DVD's spot?

Posted by: Esteban | August 24, 2009 at 03:04 PM

Because he's my LOF pick, that's why! How many people picked DVD BTW?

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

cav you must be in hella shape to do what those guys do.

Dayton, the main thing I don't do that those cats do is SWIM. And that's a big difference. Nothing like swimming.

But I run lots of stairs and mountain inclines. I probably don't do as much body-weight work as they do but my cousin gave his perfect push-up things so we'll see.

orange 'n green in the vein

Sometimes, when you only sign one WR a year out of HS, you really only sign one CB. That is the lesson we can take from Sam Shields.

86Cane

The `Canes will hold their 18th and final practice of preseason camp Tuesday before taking Wednesday off for the first day of class.

Practice Highlights:

• Jacory Harris connected with Travis Benjamin for a number of big gains in 11-on-11 work.
• Jared Campbell and C.J. Holton had near interceptions in 11-on-11 action.
• Jeremy Lewis stood out on the defensive line, consistently getting into the backfield on passing downs.
• Red zone highlights included a Jacory Harris to LaRon Byrd touchdown, a Graig Cooper 15-yard touchdown run and a Javarris James 5-yard touchdown run.
• In overtime drills starting at the 25-yard line, some highlights included a 7-yard run by Javarris James, a tackle for a loss by Jeremy Lewis and a 15-yard catch by Richard Gordon.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

OGV, lol, that's a classic, almost Berra and Henderson-esque.

Solar, I understand what you meant about Shannon-Lovett, and yeah, he always looked very calm and confident back in the day. But I'll never forget how he looked when Romeo and that other OLB were blowing all those coverages against UNC in 2004 I believe it was. Not happy. lol

Did you look at those shots of the Sunday practice?? One had Shannon standing right beside Buchanon in the middle of a true SoFl downpour. He looked exactly the same as he did in the other shots when the sun was out. haha Classic.

Esteban

Shields is the unknown. people always are optimistic about those. DVD went from a solid man to man freshman year to a down zone coverage year. now we back in man so who knows he might be locking things down. but that down zone year is fresh in people's minds.

Near interceptions? sounds like they got bricks for hands

Anyone know y Gavin Hardin is out even though Shannon is keeping it quiet?

Also anyone else kinda worried about the USF game?

Not meaning to look way ahead but I def know we can and should win this game but man would that be huge for USF if they won

slim32

LOF - Gordon / Harris

CanesgirlNC

Soup - you don't need to fix the LOF list - you have my picks right - that's who I picked

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Myndraize, don't forget about the Bigg Boss among the DBs, Aravious RR. But until he learns the ropes, Randy and Jojo and Jared even will hold it down.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

If Bosher actually ends up being a LOF, that's super-bad news. I think he's going to have many, many fewer opportunities to show off his punting this year.

Posted by: dj moonbat | August 24, 2009 at 02:03 PM

DJ, that's a dam good point but I think you're right. Bosher will be showing his leg on PATs and not PUNTs. lol

slim32

nice 2 see jeremy lewis making some noise. hes been quiet all camp

CaneSawMassacre

Noooooo Esteban I think you misinterpreted...

I meant IF.... Shields takes DVD's spot it will mean something. For Shannon to say that he has 3 capable starting CB's right now.. (DVD, Harris, Shields) that means something, especially for a kid that went from being a freshmen phenom to the dog house and fought his way out through special teams, sucked up a position change..

I'm just really happy for the kid. If he is worthy of the 1st team reps, and actually beats out DVD, it will only make DVD better for next year, or the young 'guns will pass him by..

As you said comp runs supreme, and it would put a HUGE smile on my face to see Shields truly earn a starting spot on defense and ball out.. Something that everybody on this board and others said was impossible.

1. He wouldn't sniff the field unless injuries happen
2. He wouldn't play unless it was dime situations
3. He will always be a special teams player
4. They should have left him at WR
5. Shannon does this to all player's he doesn't like..

The list was on and on.. but now that he is actually succeeding you see people jumping on the bandwagon.

All I want is for the kid to succeed, he made huge strides. I'm proud of him so far.
