From the sunny and always beautiful Florida Keys, the rum drinking capital of the world, home of the famous Holiday Isle Rum Runner, we are proud to announce that the Whistle Stop offers a 15% discount to UMAA members. I know, I was there and can tell you that now they wear Canespace!
This was after I was able to capture six Florida lobsters with my bare hands while holding my breath 20 feet under water. Then once on shore, we wrenched their nasty little heads from their bodies.
Much like Allen Bailey, Marcus Forston, Eric Moncur, Marcus Robinson, Adawale Ojomo and maybe even newbie freshman Oliver Vernon are going to do to capture opposing QBs this year and toss them into the injury bin.
Anyway, I apologize that we don't have any more news to bring U, but when you are in the Keys it is what it is.
We will have more news for you later this weekend...
Uh oh!!

where is everyone tonight?
Posted by: miamihurricane34 | August 13, 2009 at 11:03 PM
U WANNA GET IN THE VAULT? POST A COMMENT LIKE THIS:
"I'll wager my entire next year's salary that, barring injury, this fall you will see Marcus Forston and Allen Bailey do that thing where they strike down with great vengeance and furious anger those who would attempt to cutback and find holes to slip through. And you will know our name is the U when they lay their vengeance upon thee"
THAT IS HOW IT IS DONE!

SOmebody asked the othr day who was the second half of the wipe-out boyz, it's ojomo, i think they knew forston was the other one. At the same time, this whole d-line is working on wiping out a lot of offenses!
Posted by: Calvin | August 13, 2009 at 11:07 PM
night Soup, good luck tomorrow.

Este...I shouted out to Vernon at the CanesFest event:
"Hey Vernon, get us a couple of sacks this year?"
He replied: "I'll do more than that."
True story...tru dat!
Posted by: SOUP | August 13, 2009 at 11:11 PM
vernon is already at 250, uh oh, that's going to spell trouble for a few right tackles.
The interview manny had with vernon gives a real good perspective on the mentality of the players on the team right now. manny was asking vernon if he had a sack streak going because he's been getting at least 1 everyday, vernon told manny, "i'm not counting sacks, i just want to keep making plays".
It's guys like this who made Miami's name what it is today and what we're almost all the way back too.
Posted by: Calvin | August 13, 2009 at 11:13 PM
is steven wesley still at LE? mentioned vernon, ojomo, and moncur at LE in that manny blog post. but no mention of wesley. i'm hoping he's at RE so we got a consistent run stopper over there.

Had a great time. Took the family down there and stayed at mile marker 66. Hit several beaches and made it to Key West on Tuesday. Had a blast there but had to leave around midnight because with the kids with me, they didnt need to be exposed to all the drunkeness. So I had my last one at 11:55 PM, lol.
One thing is for sure, you can have a nice time down there but you need a boat or jet skies to really take advantage of what the Keys have to offer.

Per ESPN re: Torrian Wilson, who clearly reflects his commitment thus far...
"I've narrowed it down to three with Miami, Stanford, and Michigan," Wilson said. "Everyone is still in the mix, I'm just trying to cut things down a little bit but all the schools still have a shot."
Additionally, Wilson does not have a definite timetable for his announcement, "It's still a possibility that I could commit before the season starts but I have to see what my parents say. I could commit before but if not, then I will make my decision sometime during the season."

also, 3 of 5 FSU TB's down. Jermaine Thomas and Pryor only scholly runners healthy...
Posted by: miamimike01 | August 14, 2009 at 12:50 AM
more FSU injuries: falling like flies...
Three of the four backs behind Jermaine Thomas on the depth chart had to spend time off the field because of injuries.
Tavares Pressley could not go the entire practice because of a leg injury, while Ty Jones also missed some time. Freshman Chris Thompson, injured his right ankle near the end of practice, leaving Thomas and Lonnie Pryor, a freshman from Okeechobee High, as FSU's only healthy scholarship running backs.
Defensive end Kevin McNeil has been academically cleared to play and will spend two days in shorts and two days in shoulder pads before going full-contact.
Defensive tackle Justin Mincey was helped off the field with a left knee injury. FSU officials did not immediately know the extent of the injury.

Give me
Wilson
Mcdermott
Feliciano
Arie Kuj
Linder
Glenn
Bunche
that class would solve all of our o-line problems
Then you just have to address the secondary and we are finally good numbers wise across the entire team. Then we can go back to having balanced classes.

Canefan - Even if we get two of those three you have (Wilson, Linder, Arie) I would call this class a success in terms of OL.
Posted by: shwarma | August 14, 2009 at 09:15 AM
Kuondijio is close to Ego Ferguson. Would be nice to get both of them.
Posted by: SuperCooper | August 14, 2009 at 10:07 AM
Super - I agree though according to Rivals Lemonier's mom is pushing us too. I think we only take 1 DE in this class (though maybe two if Dye switches to TE as Truth says)
Also, according to the Rivals tease Devont'a Davis is planning on committing soon but I thought he might have been a grades issue? Plus accoring to the Rivals he does not have an offer (quite a contradiction but hey these guys at Rivals never surprise me)

Never been much on rum or any liquor for that matter but Brandy and Canadian Whiskey are real good... I prefer the herbal remedies...
Posted by: elliott | August 14, 2009 at 10:24 AM
Estimating we are taking another 10-11 kids this class I see the following be the waying the class fills out in terms of numbers:
2-3 OL (development and Bunche will dictate)
2-3 DBs (if Reid stays at safety I think 3)
1-2 TEs (dependent on Dye and Plein)
1-2 DEs (again based on Dye)
1 LB (needs to be MLB...Mr. Luc?)
1 WR (this guy will have no fear of comp)
Wildcard:
1 RB (Clements or Bernard or possibly Gore if he can mend things and maybe don't have a WR)

Elliott I saw that last night. Interesting nobody on the second team (i.e. a receiver)
Also, did anyone see Antrel was on PR duty for the Cards last night?
Posted by: shwarma | August 14, 2009 at 10:26 AM
Shwarma, I think Ego is a DT in college anyways.
Posted by: SuperCooper | August 14, 2009 at 10:44 AM
"Justin Mincey injured his knee. I spoke with three people who attended practice and their responses were "definitely not good", "it looks like a big one", and "let's hope for a miracle." That's not encouraging to say the least. Mincey is important for the 'Noles because they have very little depth on the defensive interior, and he really came on at the end of last season. I am sure they will know more when the swelling goes down but Mincey definitely can't walk right now."
We should run all over them for 60 minutes, no excuses.
Posted by: SuperCooper | August 14, 2009 at 10:44 AM
I hate injuries even for FSwho, but I agree with Super. No excuses. We should gash the inside, then go over the top. I think we win in dominating fashion. Does anyone feel the same or am I just way to excited and drinking the orange and green
Posted by: Canestruck | August 14, 2009 at 10:52 AM
I can see that because of his size, though if he is quick enough that could make for a great run stopping DE.
Posted by: shwarma | August 14, 2009 at 10:58 AM
You are beginning to see why it's dumb to predict pre season rankings and who we should or shouldn't beat two months before the season starts
Every year it's the same thing
an opponents key player gets injured, a guy gets suspended a guy gets arrested.
We lose a guy for a game some reason.
We were all sweating the schedule two months ago, now nature takes it's course and a lot of the firepower is dwindling.
peace
