Oh wow!

SOUP

Hey, 12%ers, have room for two more? LOL

Posted by: miamimike01 | September 19, 2009 at 01:27 AM

Too late there Mikey. U can ONLY be a 12% BEFORE the season starts.

There are very few actual 12%ers that I know of:

RCCF
Cat5
Canefantasy
CaneAddiction

Others? And don't cheat on this one, if U is, U is, if U ain't U ain't.

SOUP

Skool...U are HOT! Did U email me your info for the Canespace gear?

SOUP

Canechic...did U check your email? Has Angry calmed down yet? LOL

canechic

At this point the hiring of Mark Whipple looks like the equivalent of a high school band bringing in Jimi Hendrix to play in their recital

vault this soup, quote of the year!

canechic

No not yet soup, I will check! Angry has finally calmed down, took Nicole's Bo to the Grove yesterday (he has never been) and ate at the Sand Bar (the best fish tacos ever). Got home about 11:30 last night!

Still reeling from the game Thursday it was amazing. Now canes got to beat to tech's in a row.

My favorite quote from Whipple...he may be a 12 per center.

I have to rout for Florida State today for the same reason a wife beater gets mad when somebody else hits his wife.

My wife still had the Canes battle flags on her car driving down to work Friday

Two guys ridin in a UGA pick up truck shot her the U and then a big thumbs up, these dudes detest GT like we hate Florida.

I'm really surprised some Tech clown didn't rip the flag off while she was working.

Funny how all of a sudden the o-line is getting alot of praise, hmmmm, that's what i kept trying to tell "thee excuse" the o-line is not going to be a problem, we only have to really replace 1 guy, the right tackle. trump at center with his strength is stout, and as long as he doesn't have to work in alot of space, he's great.

I couldn't understand that the o-line bashing, even when kehoe was here, a bad oc will do that to and o-line. It wasn't fair for kehoe to have to coach an o-line where defenses was teeing off all game long. cristobal did a great job with the o-line as well. stoutland knows exactly what he's doing, and it's showing. But the biggest key is the timing of the play calls as well, people don't know if we're passing or throwing, hell, i know i've been able to call out some runs as well myself.

I knew this g-tech game was goign to be easy based on the guys we had on defense this year and the way the d-line played against Fsu, it was going to be perfect against a g-tech team. And i'll say this about g-tech, that option is going to be in trouble in the acc, the main reason is, teams this year are prepared for it, if you look at what g-tech did against clemson and what they've done against us, that option has actually already been shut down. Not sure who they play next, but us beating g-tech in dominant fashion, we've set the standard. The acc has some good defenses and with 1 year to prepare for it, alot of defenses in the acc will start shutting that offense down.

#8, that receiver for g-tech is the real deal, he's in the same category as the last receiver they had their who was drafted in the 1st round. With that being said, sam shields had great coverage on him, and just like bradon last year, had sam had more time to play at db, he'd be excellent, had nesbit thrown that out route on point, shields would have been running the other way for 6 points.

The biggest thing going forward though, we're going to have to get more blow-outs, because next year, the o-line is going to be real young, so we need to not actually get blow-outs but get those guys a lot of reps. At the same time though, the big key will be if we're able to keep orlando franklin for his senior year. Than next year we actually won't be that young either, franklin, figs and gunn as the nucleus, as we continue to work in brandon washington and hopefully ben jones and jermaine thomas can start getting more reps.

The way shannon is running this program though, it doesn't really matter that much about players getting that many reps in games as well, because it's no fluke about the competition in practice being way up. The thing about having shannon's watchful eye over this program, people don't understand that his eye will only be satisfied when he sees exactly what he knows is HURRICANE football, and shannon is seeing that and has been seeing it for months now.

shannon is not a fake guy, he's not going to say or heap praise on someone who doesn't deserve it. With that being said, make no mistake about it folks, vaughn telemaque is the real deal. As we have been saying for a while, we're going to have leaders on all levels of the defense, from d-line, to linebacker, to safety. We already have that now, and it will continue as long as shannon is here.

A healthy moncur will be hell for any defense. On the v-tech game coming up, i'll say this, while v-tech plays us tough, they've never faced an offense like we have now, this includes the 2001 and 2002 teams. While those offenses back than had more seasoned talent, i'm not going to say better talent, because for real, there were only a few guys on those offenses that you can say were actually that much better than the players we have now, for example, of course andre johnson, bryant mckinney, frank gore, roscoe parrish, vilma, etc. etc.

When you look at the younger guys on this team, they're right their. Here is a fact too, and people are going to say no way or we're pushing it, but i'll say it for yall rigth now, jacory is better than ken dorsey, and the only reason i'm saying it for yall right now is simple, i just want alot of yall to understand what's really happening in front of you. In fact, just like when i saw frank gore and knew immediately he was the best runningback to ever come thru UM pre injury, pretty much the same thing i've seen in jacory from highschool up until now. With that being said, keep that analysis quiet about jacory.

I knew jacory would come at g-tech just for them saying they were going to come after him, they don't understand how fired up that made jacory inside. Anyway, we're back to having a whole bunch of competitors back on this team now. For those who don't know shannon, you're going to get to know him more and more, and to all the naysers, keep naysaying!

As far as this team having a let down, understand this, to many seniors on this team that have lost alot of games to long and they want to keep this going. The young guys on this team understand what it means to play for the next man and especially for the seniors. You gotta love seeing moncur get hype over their with vaughn t.

Anyway, the game coming up against v-tech, i like that match-up. They were young like us last year as well, going to be a good game. Our biggest problem is not having a good special teams kicking the ball off. Which made the defense look that much better, g-tech had great field position all game and still got shut-down.

If we get special teams to force teams to start at their own 30 and below yard line, look out, and we didn't even have that many turn-overs last night. If this defense starts getting turn-overs, that's when the real Hurricane football will start showing up. We're getting a few turn-overs, but if we get about 2 or 3 turn-overs in games, look out.

CaneSniper

The thing that amazes me about this offense is how I no longer fear 3rd and long. For the last 5 years, when you see our QB fading back you just had this sinking feeling in your stomach that something bad was about to happen. But now I'm getting back to the way I felt in 2002 and earlier, when I see our QB fade back and I just know something good is about to happen.

I've watched the game on ESPN360 a few times now

Anyone else get extremely pissed that GTech's lineman just lunge after the snap at the Canes DLineman legs? I kept watching it over and over, each play, as soon as the ball was snapped all the GTech OLineman dove at their legs

I can see why the front 4 (more actually, because of rotation) of the Canes were so fired up when they stopped the run after dealing with that garbage

I still crack up, watching Brandon Harris come jumping on top of the pile of Canes, after they stood up a GTech run play in the middle ... B.Harris sees a big pile of orange, pushing back a small pile of white, and he decides to just run up and jump on the top off it like he was shooting off the top rope in a WWF ring and doing the "frog splash"

Six

solar - that goes along the lines of, I don't have to like you, but I like that you hate my enemy as well

I still don't like UGA though, ha

I know that Richt and Willie Martinez wore the "U" .. I didn't root for Richt when he was at FSU, I'm not rooting for him at UGA either. I'm stubborn like that

Six

I think the next 2 games will lay testament to just how good the OLine really is

They've been playing phenomenal. I'll be the first to say that I was very skeptical of them, heading into the season. I can admit that and will admit that all day and all night. It was said, many a time, that the season will go as roots of the team go - and those roots are in the trenches on either side of the ball

That's almost some Kung Fu Panda thinking, mixed in with some straight up coach speak

OCALACANE

Six...
I took a pic of their lineman #60 on a block diving into Sharptons legs. A great photo if I do say so myself. Keep in mind this pic is from upper deck with a long zoom. It is on my myspace and face book. 86, will post it later on the blog. U could see these blocks from the upper deck.

CaneSniper

Six...That's a great shot of Brandon jumping on the pile. I got it as my desktop background now.

CaneSniper

I hate to route for the inbred mass-murdering hillbillies of Va Tech, but it's probably in our best interest if they beat the cornholers today.

Six

OCALACANE - Didn't that garbage just piss you off, watching it happen over and over and over? I'd love to hear a directional mic pointed into those trenches before each snap, just to hear what the Canes DLine was saying to the GTech OLine about that. I understand it's a form of blocking and all, but damn if it doesn't seem dirty. If I was the ref, I'd allow the DLine to celebrate a little after a stop in the backfield or a sack - just b/c you see up close and personal what they had to go through on each snap to get there

canechic

It was awesome in person, I was screaming.."He is going to get him some"!

Six

CaneSniper - I'm trying to find out how to make that sequence of B.Harris jumping on the pile as a .gif file, so I can watch it over and over

That, and also when Miami Vice Telemaque upended the GTech RB onto his head

Six

Isn't GTech supposed to have the upper shelf students in the state of Georgia, outside of Emory probably having the very top shelf kids?

http://img185.imageshack.us/img185/3306/georgiatech.jpg

Look at those 12 f***wits.

I dunno, I love my team to death but haven't gone as far as painting my entire body, putting on a wig and looking like Darryl Hannah in the "Clan of the Cave Bear" movie.

Six

canechic - I bet it was great to see in person, I guess the only good part about watching it up at work was just constantly rewinding the DVR so I could see it again whenever I needed a laugh

I'll have to wait until the UCF, USF and ACC Championship game to see the Canes up close and personal

SOUP

But how do U really feel?

dlu

Nice ongoing short list article, better than most newspapers.

CaneSniper

After the Ojomo incident I was nervous about the DE position. But Wesley and Vernon have really stepped up. Now the only position I'm worring about is CB. We will need an outstanding effort from those guys the next two weeks.

CanesCanesCanes

Really enjoying this short list concept. I guess I'm just missing it, but how is Oklahoma already out of the running with just a "quality" loss to BYU. Just checking.

Thanks.

Every week just gets better and better.

idk if i was officially a 12%er, but i did pick the big redhead as my LOF, thats gotta be worth somethin...

SlingBlade

Jacory for Heisman.......

i dont think he'll get it because there are too many people on this team that are gonna receive consideration, which will divide the voting...

but i did hear a rumor that they are gonna rename it after the season to the Harris Trophy...

i hope he gets it just so we can see the look on the faces of all those old people at the ceremony when Jacory shows up in his pink suite and pimp cup...and dont forget the afro

dlu

I am torn on the pimp suit thing, it would be funny as H*ll but respect for history thing is good too.

dlu

Lot of people want L.Miller to red shirt this yr. If Miller is not ready ok, but I would like for the U to win it all this yr. Someone said it would be awesome to have another guy like Benjamin , we do Miller. If Miller can get some good route running down and has the hands to receive, what a potential weapon.

SOUP

ACC Game of the Week: Clemson and BC.

Spiller just scored on a 70 yard punt return.

Clemson 7, BC 0

SOUP

dlu...barring injury it looks like Miller will spend this year getting grades, getting ready and running track.

It appears that UM wants a one year spacing between him and Mike James.

bg1906

UNC looks slow. Little bit for you guys, remember Marvin Austion was #1 DT propect in 2007. He's now in his 3rd year and NOW he's an impact player. So that holds true to what Coach Shannon says about interior linemane, takes them about 3 yrs before they are truly ready to go....I say that to say.

Don't worry about #99, he'll be fine! Get well big guy and work on your moves! HAHAHA!

SlingBlade

did anyone else see that on the first drive of the game..after the first two plays that went nowhere..there was a long pass to hankerson over the middle..and after that play jacory was running down the field to the line of scrimmage and looking to the sidelines and jestering in a manner that would lead me to believe he was telling whipple what play he wanted to run next..and we all know the next play was a td to byrd

i replayed the game last night and saw that and replayed it over and over...it does look like jacory is giving hand signals to the side and it looked like he was asking permission to run a certain play...

i was disappointed in the turnout for the game..we definately need to sell it out for the oklahoma game

CanesCanesCanes

Replay the game and focus on #30, the FB, Patrick Hill. Unsung hero. Not just on that funky catch but he was blasting somebody on EVERY play.

Giving him his due

do you remember all the canes wearing fatigues to the bowl game?

The Miami players, after all, inherit a tradition of wearing fatigues to a Fiesta Bowl cookout and stomping out into the dry Arizona night at the first excuse. A few of them once tried to tackle the Florida State horse, Renegade, as he galloped up and down the field in Tallahassee.

the canes set the trends and are hated by most but loved by us...

Posted by: Six

Six, that is the way you are taught to block for that type of O....we ran the wishbone way back when, and that is way we were taught to block, especially if you have swift backs, if you have a fast back, all you need to do is get a piece of someone, and back is gone...OK did same deal years ago....The best wishbone, and I option teams were run by small, fast qb's...thmas lott ans jamelle hollieway....which jamelle, we shut down
Our guys obviously did a ton of film study on the way GT blocked, and worked in practice on not getting stuck up in it

Hurriphin

Not to come off as a pole-jocker, but I ALWAYS said that I didn't care if Pat Peterson stayed or went, as long as Brandon came here. I remember watching him and the BTW posse spank that SC team (Summerville?) on national TV, and he ERASED AJ Green.

I think Solar said that he looks like he's always trying his a$$ off, and that's very true.

The reason I didn't make him a LOTF, was mainly because I felt he (along with Jacory, Spence, and Byrd) were too easy.

And there's another CB on this team that goes by Brandon, who I think is gonna be a carbon copy of B-Harris........

Six

phillyscott - ya, I get that they're supposed to block that way. Like I said to OCALA, I understand it's a form of blocking and all, but damn if it doesn't seem dirty. .. it still pisses me and you know it pisses the DLineman off
