Were you able to tell if they were serious or not about attending da U?

Windy

Good article. Thanks for keeping us posted. Davis and Nelson are the kind of playmakers on defense we need.

Speaking of #52 Ray Lewis (the original "Ray Ray"), he is playing like a pro bowl player this year. He is perhaps the only LB in the NFL that could put that kind of goal line hit that he put on Adrian Peterson - Stopped him in his tracks. The Ravens lost, but not because of the Ray Ray I.

miamimike01

8th man,

These two guys are solid. Kevin and Devont'a have already had official visits. Both will be attending the UVA game (unofficial).

We can count on these boys to come. Two VERY SOLID verbals. Trust me.

DZ8

So #10 is retired, I googled and wasn't able to find what other numbers and for who were retired at The U. Found out that we have four retired numbers, any info out there?

DZ8

... and great job miamimike01. Absolutely love to hear about these future Canes. Thank U!

miamimike01

#10, #14, #42, #89 are retired.

#10 George Mira
#14 Vinny
#42 Brodsky?
#89 The Mad Stork, Ted Hendricks

DZ8

#10= George Mira
#42= Jim Dooley

looking for the other two

DZ8

Thanks again

8th Man in the Box

good stuff mmike01

DZ8

Only four University of Miami players have had their numbers retried, not because the school lacks gridiron talent, in fact – they have too much! If Miami were to retire every great players number there wouldn’t be enough jerseys left to field the current squad!

from a Hertz car rental add...lol

miamimike01

Dooley, good call DZ8.

DZ8

Do U think they aren't EEing because of grades? Each year the guys who come early contribute the most. It'll get harder and harder for true freshman to make an impact and damn near impossible if they are not EEs.

miamimike01

I don't think either is coming in early. I asked them about that, they both told me June, when the first summer quarter starts.

So just like Armstrong and Dye, among others, be there as early as they can because they understand the importance of getting there early. As far as January goes, I say no.

miamimike01

Wanted to give a shout out to four GHS players not mentioned in the article:

#6 Walter Holsey, RB, SR.
#15 Jordan McFadden, WR, SR.
#25 Byron Ricks, DB, JR.
#32 Sokari Scott, DB, JR.

All these guys played well and were instrumental in the victory last Thursday, and in the victory against Eastside, the first time I covered GHS.

Sokari said his recruitment is picking up, with Florida Atlantic among the first to offer. This is a kid we'll watch next season from GHS.

RandyCane

I can't tell Canespace what great kids these players are, there is much more to these two young men then their physical abilities on the football field.

They have overcome many obstacles much like RS in their personal lives. They are an excellent example of the type player and persons of character that RS is recruiting these days.

From the example of their mother, really Devont'a's mother and Kevins surrogate mom, and their coach Ryan Smith. They will be players and students the U will be proud to have as a part of the U family.

First class without a doubt. Now as for their football ability it will be off the charts!

pb(CSROH10)

Whatever??

After I changed my pic as a tribute to the size of your melon?

Jeez, so ungrateful.

Hey Arnold!

MM01 and Randy...re-read the bottom of the article please. Added a little something and the credits. Thanks again for taking your personal time and $$$ to do this. U guys are TOP SHELF and what Canespace is ALL about!

See U for the Clemson game. When are U all arriving at The Hampton?

pb(CSROH10)

86 where are you sitting for the game?

RandyCane

We are getting to the Hampton on Thursday. I added a day so we can go to the campus and do a couple of personal things in Miami. It is my home and I haven't been back since the 87 Orange Bowl against OU.

We need to get Canespacers together and go out to eat Friday night. Lets party!!!

canezilla

any news on our hurt players?who"s coming back for the clemson game

86Cane

86 where are you sitting for the game?

Posted by: pb(CSROH10) | October 19, 2009 at 08:16 PM

My seats are in the EAST end zone section 425, Row 23, Seats 1-4, but I only sit there for the first quarter.

Then I go around the stadium and look for Canespacers in their seats. Send me your seats and I will find U.

At halftime I can be found on the lower level Smirnoff bar outside of section 107. U should meet me there.

I usually end the game in the upper level, West End Zone section 456, row 30.

Anymore questions?

Shwarm

The Atlantic was awesome top to bottom.

The service was great, The room was big and beautiful and the view..... Take a look at the avatar.

It was a short walk away to a ton of restaurants and bars.

I would recommend it no doubt.
Thanks for the heads up.

I just booked all of my UNC trip and was looking for a comparable hotel down there. Not gonna happen.

Hilton here I come LOL. My girl got spoiled at the Atlantic!

Thx again bro!

And I forgot who said it but the reason we don't have old sxhool Canez swagger anymore is because we have sucked balls for the past 5 years just in case you missed it.

Plus we are no where near where we need to be so pull your thumb out of ur azz and calm ur ballz with that ol school yappin.

When we aren't relying on freshmeat to save the day or preventing kids from redshirting when they really need to then come talk.

Until then all of us who actually live here down on earth in the real world will see things for what they are

We ain't there YET.... It's comin though

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Canez1

dtx, i'm not sure where you got i'm singing a different tune from, but it's a known fact and on some bokes that it takes about 30 days to acclimatize to anything 5000feet above sea level, so when we talking about thin air, if you can't breathe, you can't breathe. You'll see guys not getting to where they are suppose to get to, or guys barely missing plays, etc. etc.

And when you asking a team to blow people off the ball when they don't even their footing under them, lol, go back to what i said about do yo ureally think the patriots are that much better than tenessee. Or i'll use this example, you ever race anybody on the beach, you know who normally ends up being faster on beach sand, fatter guys, because they sink down and can get push in the sand, meanwhile you take a fast light guy out on the beach, and watch how slow he becomes, because he's running on top of the sand as opposse to being able to dig in it.

solar, i said the combination of cold and rain, now if it's snowing a certain way in north carolina, i don't got to much faith in us winning that game, if it's that sloppy type snow, if it's that snow thats just coming down and not sticking that's different, but if it's that slush type snow, i'd be surprised if we won, just keep in mind, heaters on the side lines in 65 degree weather.

umike and solar, it's all good men, we're just dropping the statitcs and kickin da ballistics. In the meantime, while dtx is saying championship teams win in any type weather, that's real subjective, weather often times helps give 1 team an advantage over another one. If you're a speed team, most of the time, whether is going to affect you.

Here's a question, when playing in slushy snow, what kind of spikes work best, shorter spikes or longer ones or flat shoes!

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

MM01 and Randy, great work. I know those young men were on cloud 9 that night. It seems like if anyone could step right in and lead, a la Morgan and Ray L, at the Mike, it could be Nelson.

Hopefully, though #11 will keep progessing each game and be ready to take on more responsibility by the end of the season.

I have confidence in him, and he is learning a completely new position in a way he's never had to learn or play before. One year, basically a RS year, isn't so crazy.

miamimike01

thanks, 86.

I know those kids will get a kick out of being mentioned on this site. I GUARANTEE they will see this article.

I had many folks come up to us and said they read our first article. It was a hit, the first time. And now that we're profiling GHS, I had much love. It was like a homecoming.

DZ8

Dont sleep on Shayon Green for MLB next year, or at least in the mix. We could have all of our LBs back next year except for Sharpton. They might throw Colin in the middle with Cookie/Futch/Spence/Holton flying in and around. Depth IS coming back.

solarcane

mm/randy good stuff again guys.

peace

DZ8

Didn't mean to forget about #11, he's too skinny with that number. Should get a BIG FAT number like #...

DZ8

Nelson and Davis welcome to Canespace. We always love U guys as long as we see the effort. I don't think that'll be a problem with U two.

Calvin

windy, smith is also right about what he's saying, their is a lot of competition here, with that being said, alot of eams would take him just because he's from Miami irregardless of what he says about competition. Even when he goes to another school, alot of schools don't recruit like we do, remember, we use to have someone here that no competition rule at the qb position come one come none(1 quarterback recruit a year philosophy).

smith basically knows, he comes here he'll have to beat out, vernon, robinson, ojomo, dyron dye, hardin, etc. etc. If he can't see himself doing it, as long as he doesn't committ, we can't help him. One thing, the more depth we have the less injuries we'll probably have as well too. Back to the weather thing, i know the next time, if this team plays in bad weather, they'll have a real good idea of what to expect.

It not only was the players, seemed like whipple wasn't calling plays for the weather as well. I guarantee the coaching staff feels like that game was more on them than the players, maybe except shannon.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

"I don’t think I’ll take five visits; I might just take four," he said.
Smith said of UM that "Miami’s kind of low. I don’t feel it’s the place for me. They have too much depth over there, too much competition."

Posted by: bg1906 | October 19, 2009 at 11:27 AM

Its obviously a huge compliment for the Canes, but what does Smith's comment say about the (lack of) talent, depth and competition at Illinois, FSU, Tennessee and USC?

Posted by: Windy | October 19, 2009 at 06:58 PM

>>>>>

Windy, it says we're about to whoop fools azzes, that's what it says. Although TN and USC should have some solid talent. I know TN does. People act like Fulmer didn't get any talent but he did. He was just lazy and unmotivated. That's what did him in.

Seriously, they have to have talent to run Kiffin's schemes well enough that they held T-Bone in check. Then again, UF doesn't have much talent on O.

So, with him being a DE, he's looking at Vernon, Smith, Hardin, M-Rob, Dye, Wesley, Ojomo and maybe Ego and Lemonier. That's DEEEEEEP and STEEEEEEP.

Honestly, unless he's seriously confident, he's probably making a smart move.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

DZ8, yeah Green could surprise us but I still say he's too tall and lanky to play the Mike but you never know what Swasey might turn him into. lol

Calvin

When the question was asked, what former UM players would they compare themselves too, that's the difference in mentality of alot of them boyz from the gainesville area, and other areas through-out the country, alot of players down here are going to say i don't compare myself/game to other players, i play the way i play and make a name for myself.

Because we know that when people keep saying you play like so and so, that takes away from your hard work and dedication slightly, even if it is a great player. Here's to wanting nelson and devonta to strive to be better than ray lewis and buchannon.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Calvin, I'm with you on the weather. It's not an excuse but it was a factor.

But the REASON why we lost was they didn't come to play ferociusly and with focus, which is what it would have taken to counter VT at home in those conditions.

But more than half the team are underclassmen, so it comes with the territory. Bottom line is we're way ahead of schedule.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

It not only was the players, seemed like whipple wasn't calling plays for the weather as well. I guarantee the coaching staff feels like that game was more on them than the players, maybe except shannon.

Cal, I thought the same thing about Whipple's play-calling. When I saw that last INT off of a double-move, when VT was sitting in prevent, and Byrd could barely make one cut without slipping, let alone a double move, I knew Whip's head wasn't quite adapted.

But he said his own play-calling wasn't good, so he knew it.
