Whats good with yall my canes bros n sis? I know we all have mixed emotions and thoughts on the weak first half yesterday, but i must admit that im glad we are atleast 8 n 3! Thats just average thinking tho 4 me! We should of been 10 n 1 in my book! but wouldn't we all agree that if we finish the season out 10 n 3 including a win in oUr bowl game will be a successful season?

For those who have watched the basketball team, what's D. Jones looking like...

 Esteban

i don't think anyone thinks Franklin makes an easy transition to LT. Probably no one thinks it will be easy at this point. But outside of looking bad against Ricky Sapp a couple of times he's looked alright out there. I'm with Calvin...lots of confidence in Ben Jones. Franklin moved to RT is something that I'd be cool with. Let Washington, Figs, and Gunn handle the guard spots. Maybe Washington might handle that Center spot instead of Tyler Horn, but either way I feel good about what we got coming back on the OL.

YES!

USAFCane

how are LSU ranked ahead of Miami losing to an unranked team that late in the season? Of course, how is UNC ranked behind us at 8-3.

Caneslegend

Your right I will change my tune from now on...I am just hard on this team because i grew up during the glory days...and i see the team like this...my uncle played at the U....So it is just hard to watch...but everyone's point is true...i will show some optimisim

Legend, yeah, and I'm not suggesting we don't criticize, like the way I haven't said much in the last two weeks without the word Boss in it and dissing the OL and upperclassmen in the same breath, lol, but we're looking forward and it's a very bright place.

Thanks Canes optimist...I was just thinking that my frustration blocks my judgement with this team. I want to see all the Cokerites out first before I can make a sound judgement. I do believe the special teams coach might need to be changed at the end of the year but other than that lets so what presents itself in the next two years. Go Canes.

There are no Cokerites left on this team anywhere.

There are a bunch of very talented, hard working but extremely young kids busting their azzes to make this team a champion again.

Try and look beyond a play, quarter or half that isn't perfect before firing the staff and dogging the players doing the actual rebuilding.

It's not 2001 anymore.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Coop, I agree with you to a certain extent on Pipho, but not because He was a "Cokerite". A guy like Pipho was more a victim of genetics, moreso than being a "Cokerite". If you look at Pipho, the guy has a lousy base to be playing RT, much less any type of Tackle. It's like I alluded to in a post a while ago, I think Washington would've been a better RT than Pipho, because BW has a solid base, and IMO, and more importantly...better feet and hands.

Posted by: CaneRock | November 22, 2009 at 11:44 AM

>>>>>

Canerock, THAT is the very definition of what a Cokerite is/was, no matter where they played.

When we say Cokerite it's saying they were as inept in their position as Coker was.

Another way to view it is that of all the players Coker recruited, from the c/o 2002 to the c/o 2007, I bet Shannon would only have pursued and offered maybe FIVE OR SIX of them....

Kenny Phillips, Pata, Beason, Hester, Rolle, Kelly Jennings and Parrish.

I'm probably forgetting some LB like McIntosh or DL but overall I doubt there were more than ten who Shannon would've wanted.

To me, that says it all.

CaneSawMassacre

There are not many cokerites left at all. If any.

Legend...I feel your pain bro'. But it is what it is. Still a long way to go. If we win 10 this year and I'll be happy as can be.

Next year though we HAVE to at least win our division of the ACC if not the ACC title and go to a BCS bowl.

2011 we have to be in National Championship contention if not win it.

The world ends in December of 2012, so we need another NC before then. Right Calvin?

Agree 100%

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Windy, I'm not so sure we're more talented across the board than USF. On offense, yes, except for the OL. On defense, probably not. USF has several kids in there who've been there for several years and Leavitt's been there for several years, so the kids are all familiar with the system.

They're smaller but faster than we are. Mentally they're not strong though.

I also don't think this game or the bowl game will tell us how the team will look next year because we're losing players and bringing in players who aren't known quantities.

These next two games are for this year, for Shannon's extension, for perception and pre-seasons ranking.

In reality, we'll have some serious ???s going into next year at CB, LB and OL. If our DL stays healthy it will mitigate a whole lot of those ??s on defense.

macjones de Albuquerque

One more thing.

Cane we PLEASE stop with the crowd nonsense.

How many times do we have to hear about lack of crowds at home games.

Did you just crawl out from under a rock??

It is the way and always has been.

Please write that down somewhere and keep it in a special place so you can review it everytime the urge creeps up to complain about it.

LET IT GO!!LOL

GO CANEZ!!!!!

Posted by: Canez1 | November 22, 2009 at 09:00 AM

The PATHETIC Cane crowd issue is what it is, and it should be an ABSOLUTE embarrassment for ALL associated with the tradition Miami Hurricane program!

FREAK', how do U know the lackless numbers in the stadium don't relatively affect the Hurricane ballers! Especially on Senior Day.

CHIT, the fickle fan base SoFla couldn't even SELL OUT the Sooner game!

Yeah, yeah I understand all the socio-cultural factors surrounding SoFla, and the effects it has on a "LAME AZZ home field advantage." FREAK', I had to explain to a SUCKeye fan yesterday at the local sports bar!!

In case U'all are "still under a rock," a 75% near capacity crowd is worth X number of points.

And this growing Miami team needs all the freakin' support it can get during home games.

It's one matter to be the 2001 and or 2002 and or even the 2003 squads, they could WITCH SLAP around an average college football team with nobody in the stands. But today's Miami Hurricanes need the EMOTIONAL VOCAL support.

And I didn't HARP on this yesterday, because I didn't wanna' get into no negative verbal free falls, but what the bloody FREAK is Cane fan BOOING JaCory! Injured and all!

Now, that takes a few MORONS of the Cane sort to be so freakin' HEARTLESS!

By the way, the Herald reported what was heard on the ESPNU.

SuperCooper

On his hand...
"I just got a real bad thumb injury. With my adrenaline running, I'll be okay. I've got to get a better grip with my four fingers or something....get bigger hands. I have to deliver for this team. They're behind me, and as long as they're backing me up, I have to keep grinding"

Jacory is hurt bad. I really do not get how Whipple can continue to use his entire passing playbook for the two remaining games. When your QB can't grip the football, you shouldn't be throwing it 50 times a game. Especially when you have three good RBs.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Well, well, look what happens when the players listen to and follow the coaches instructions....from the Herald on Sharpton's INT

>>>>>>

He credited UM coach Randy Shannon for tipping him off on the slant pattern the Blue Devils had been using.

``I caught the ball, saw an opening on the left side and I had one guy to beat. I just ran full speed, straight ahead to the touchdown like Forrest Gump,'' Sharpton said.

``It seemed unreal to see the opening and all the fans watching me, and hear the roar. It was something you dream about as a kid. That will be a lasting memory for me. . . . I run a 4.5, but I might have been running even faster there out of excitement.''

The interception return for a touchdown was the first for the Canes since Sean Spence scored against Florida State last season.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

CSM, actually there are plenty of Cokerites. The reason it doesn't seem like it is because most of them are on the BENCH.

Half the team is freshmen and sophomore, which leaves a few from the '07 class and the rest Cokerites. Even though they're not in the game they're not making a difference. They're taking up space basically, deadweight that you can't throw overboard. There would be even more if Shannon hadn't forced out a few guys.

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

Super, yeah, you'd think Whipple would change something especially when his balls are floating because he can't grip the ball but NOOOO.

Mac, I'm with you on the boo-ing shyt. Just idiotic. No other word for it.

Yeah I agree I believe 2011 we blow up the spot...Because we will have depth and talent at every postion. If will be exciting to watch them next year. Learn from this seasons mistakes. Rashad told me when Sharpton picked off that pass...He told the world is coming to end. And Six made the funniest comment of the day. Who stole Sharpton's Jersey? It was great go Canes...

pb, I'd enjoy seeing our guards against Suh.

Posted by: Esteban | November 22, 2009 at 01:49 AM

No U wouldn't! LMAO

I literally hate to say this, seeing that I DIZZ on that Herbie CornSUXKER zealot base to nth degree, but Suh is the kind of nasty baller Miami USE to have at DT.

By the way, that landlocked college football teams C.E.O. is Pellini. The emotional tyrant who game planned the literal WITCH SLAPPING of your Hurricanes in the 2005 Peach bowl.

When this Pellini character roams the sidelines, he LITERALLY becoumes on PSYCHO NUTT case.

For instance, when he was that Herbie CornSUXKER teams D-coordinator in 2003, he LITERALLY wanted to "take out" Grandpa Snyder of Kansas St.

Bottom line, this Pellini is one RUTHLESS, COLD-HEARTED MOTHERFREAKER on game days.

Now, he's probably an upstanding family man, and civil citizen away from football and all. But this is the kind of fella', who'd literally take away your "life force," and not think twice about doing it!

Captain Optimist aka Cavaleer

PB, there are plenty of Cokerites on the OL and others riding the pine taking up space and time. It affects a lot, depth and attitude more than anything.

SlingBlade

Look at the roster Cav. 80% of the non walk ons on this team were recruited by Shannon.

There are no more than 20 seniors on this team, half of which look to be walk ons.

The mentality of this team is completely different to what it was 3 years ago.

CanesAddiction

Coker recruits...how old are the kids that are left? Are they all 4th year players now?

Personally, I'm getting tired of using Coker as a scapegoat for players that are not contributing. Just because Larry recruited a player doesn't mean that Larry is still the reason that he's underperforming. RS and staff have had all these players for years now.

The word "Cokerite" shouldn't be used when referring to any current player IMO.

If a guy doesn't pan out then he doesn't pan out. Randy will recruit plenty of players that don't pan out. It's the nature of the biz.

The Coker horse is dead, it's time to stop beating it.

Seeing that Nebraska is the tertiary topic de jure. LOL The Cornhuskers will play Tejas in the Big 12 championship.

So, after they lose that game next Sabado, A.D. Ozzie will probably have his choice of the Holiday Bowl, or Cotton Bowl, and the Gator Bowl is a LONGSHOT.

Why, because Nebraska played their last year against Clemson, and won a bery, bery, bery narrrow last minute game.

Knowing the "insiders" involved with Cornhuker football, I don't believe they'd want to go Gator-ing again. But I'm probably wrong. LOL

miamimike01

Proud of the players. They buckled down and found a way to win. Especially Harris. Kid is blocking out the pain to throw what, 40 times?

Whip has got to know how much pain he's in. Got to rely on the running game next week. We have a good enough running game to beat USF.

I like the pepto and champagne post.

Proud of our guys. Just have to take care of business next weekend.

Not so fast, bUbba. Because, your Miami, F-L-A Hurricanes have one more game left to win, and IF the higly possible doesn't become REALITY, then U's can make your plans for another bowl venue. U's dig!

By the way, that Herbie CorSUXKER team played in the Gator Bowl last season, and I don't think the "high-level" chiefs involved with Nebraska football would wanna' go haunting for Gators again in Jacksonville, F-L-A.

But I could be wrong.

Moreover, as it stands now, Nebraska is the 3rd team in the Big 12, and usually the third team in the Big 12 plays in the Holiday or Cotton bowls.

If I was a wealthy wagering bUbba of the Hurricane sort, I'd like to believe that Herbie CornSUXKER zealotry would wanna' spend the "Holidays" in sunny, beautiful San Diego.

By the way, San Diego is mucho, mucho, mucho more of an attractive enclave than Jacksonville, F-L-A.

Aquaman

Awesome pics guys. Angry and Canechic are the best

Good running into you 86, Mrs 86, Raize and friends.

It was fun, 5-1 I can live with. Each year we get better at this.

They asked on the radio after the game who u give touches to:

I got

D.Berry - 20
M.James - 15
L.Chambers - 10

I loved what Coop and James brought but it's obvious their day in UM's sun is over.

Six

Miami should beat South Cackalack

USF almost beat them Friday night, but lost 69-66 b/c of South Cackalack's free throws down the stretch ... they made 11 of 14 in the last 2 minutes to pull out the win

And USF sucks in basketball

86Cane

Aqua...always good seeing U. U know "we got this".

Next year with Berry, James and The Truth it's gonna get FUN!

The Hurricanes battled back to defeat UNC Wilmington, 67-60, on Friday for their fourth-straight win of the season to advance to the title game.

In 2007, Miami knocked off three teams to win the inaugural Puerto Rico Classic. Miami also defeated a Colonial Athletic Association team (VCU, 69-63) en route to winning the championship game over Providence.

50-50

The Hurricanes have converted at least 50 percent of their field goals in all four games so far this season and in six of eight halves in 2009-10. Miami hit at least half of their shots in both halves in the season-opening victory over North Carolina Central and in Friday’s Charleston Classic second-round win over UNC Wilmington.

THE SERIES

Sunday’s game between the Hurricanes and Gamecocks marks the ninth meeting between the programs, with Miami leading the all-time series, 5-3. The teams last met in the first round of the NIT on March 15, 2005, in Coach Haith’s inaugural season as head coach. South Carolina edged Miami in Columbia, 69-67, on Josh Gonner’s driving basket with 2.1 seconds remaining in the game.

NEW SEASON, NEW LOOK

The Hurricanes have retired their orange uniforms and are bringing back alternate green uniforms for the first time since 2006-07. Miami will generally wear white at home and either black or green on the road. The Hurricanes’ debuted their green unis in Friday’s win over UNC Wilmington.

Just got home from Miami, really guys was a great time. Pictures really do not let you guys in on how much we laughed. Raizecane's crowd is a fun bunch. Angry was Angry the first half but a bunch of fun the second half. Had a great time at the Hampton, in the jacuzzi, ate dinner with the kids who then went out but sadly Angry and I went back to the room and fell asleep before 8:00pm.....really stinks to get old. When I have more time I will have to tell about getting into a fight over parking at Miami Duke game. Yes at a Miami Duke game....just crazy. Kirby is getting a letter from this season ticket holder with lots of ideas and opinions.

From the Herald, Coach Shannon on Damien Berry:

`You know what it is?'' Shannon said with a grin. ``He is getting yards. Whoever is getting yards at that time, that's who [the fans] will be calling.

``Damien has worked at it. The more he improves, the better we are as a football team. If you notice, we always put Damien in to tire teams down. Mid to late third quarter, when he's fresh, he just bangs away.''

Old Skool

Wishful thinking from Shandel's blog regarding Leonard Hankerson's yardage. Unfortunately it's a typo

Hankerson leads UM with 42 catches for 7523 yards and five touchdowns, but the most impressive stat is 17.9.

Still 11 games, an average of 683 yards per game in receiving. Perhaps what's more amazing is how you only get 5 touchdowns out of that.
