Every night I seem to be getting in the last post before you tell of the new blog being up, 86. I thought I was only last in line at home!
Repost:
What I liked about the Canes on the hardwood was seeing them break the press halfway decently, something they couldn't do at any point last season. They paid dearly game after game last year, and this weakness cost them (remember the Duke game, where a huge lead evaporated in minutes for just this reason?). The turnovers should be the kind of thing they improve upon as the season moves forward, but the F/Ts never seem to quite work this way, regardless of whay my h.s. coach said and made us do. This team has some promise, although nothing means much until you do it in your conference. However, if they can make it through the opening run of games pre-ACC with a good performance it makes the rest easier.
Go figure the Syracuse hoopsters would be doing this well after taking it on the chin a few w/a from LeMoyne. They took UNC apart.
Gotta really wonder if Cook regrets taking off yet? I can't imagine he wouldn't have gotten some decent PT the last few games with Jacory's injuries. How severe the injuries we may never know, or at least not until after the season. Now if the injuries are the main issue, who knows what a month pre-bowl could do for recuperation.... Hopefully a lot for a defenseless D.
Up to #17 (BCS), while Clemson is right behind at #18. Don't count on them staying behind UM if they both keep winning, although they'd have to deal with playing GT in the ACC championship game.

Durand Scott will be somewhat similar to Tyreke Evans. Mr New York City is a baller or sure.
Adrian Thomas is a great 3 point shooter, but it would help if he didn't take one every time he gets the ball. but i'll probably change my tune if he wins us a few games with that stroke.
Reggie Johnson has improved a lot. he's already a load to handle because of his weight, so when he really develops a post game he will be deadly.
if Haith is gonna play the 2-3 more this year we have to get more disciplined in our rotations. there were many times where two guys would rotate to an area and leave an open shooter alone. if you wanna see how a zone is supposed to be played, watch Syracuse or Duke.

I HAD KNOW IDEA HE WAS IN PHILLY! i loved that guy. he tried his best with whatever he was doing, and i kinda miss his giant body clogging up the middle. he had a speech disorder i think, but never gave up working on it.
the usf game will be the first road game in the state of FL i miss since the 06 season. enjoy those of you who are going!
Oh and p.s. some student booed jacory after an errant throw. yours truly and some true diehard student behind me ripped that kid a new one. with the way jacory has played his heart out in some of the games this season, im not going to be down on him because of his bad games. when you throw for 3000 yds in 11 games, its very easy to forget how bad things were recently. for a true soph who goes to class, respects his team and plays like a champ game in and game out, hes the man.

Jacory in a sling was The Randy's way of ferreting out the leaks in the plumbing by seeing if The Truth would reappear on Canespace to give us the "inside" word on the situation.

Why the hell can't we play USC or LSU in a bowl game, all this bowl committee crap needs to go, why only negotiate with certain conferences to go to certain bowl games, why can't anyone just face anyone, and have whatever the best game can be made up made up! it's a friggin' joke i tell you, they're robbing people to see the best games, i don't wanna see UM vs Northwestern, i don't wanna see UM vs Pitt b'coz that's going to be played anyways next year or in the near future, let's just all agree and make the best game happen!!!!!
Miami vs USC
Miami vs LSU
This is SSIB's rant, and let's forward this to those crappy bowl committee!
Posted by: Sean Spence is a Beast!!! | November 23, 2009 at 02:27 AM
Jacory should NOT get booed. Guy plays his heart out each and every game. He's been sacked about 30 times this season (not to mention all the times he's been slammed after the throw). Please don't tell me your game isn't going to get affected after taking so many hits.
Did Ken Dorsey get sacked 30 times in a season? Hell no! Maybe not even in his entire collegiate career (though i can't find the stats online)!
The O-Line is largely to blame but they still shouldn't get booed. They do the best they can but we're just not talented at that position (at least not the group starting this year).
A good O-line is the one thing this team is missing IMO. Special teams needs better coaching to take advantage of all the speed and talent we have; our coaching staff needs to improve overall, especially with clock management; but the O-Line affects EVERY facet of the game--Passing, Running, Defense (since if you can't pass or run you're going to get lots of three-and-outs, which gasses your defense), Special Teams (since you need blockers there too).
With adequate depth at this position I don't see how the Canes can't run the table next year, assuming our defense is decent.
Regarding THIS year, USF is the team to beat! All this talk about the "Big 4" needs to end. Win some championships bitches!!
GO CANES!!!
Posted by: RBLCane | November 23, 2009 at 02:28 AM
I know that it is not the way it works, but it's a perfect scenario, they'd all be 9 and 3 at the end of the season, and what better games to play than Miami vs USC or Miami vs LSU???? imagine all the money they could make from a bowl game like that. It would probably out-view every single BCS game that will take place this year!
Posted by: Sean Spence is a Beast!!! | November 23, 2009 at 02:33 AM
StuckinCali, since you're from the west coast, ain't that going to be a hell of a game if Miami faces USC???? and do you like our chances against them????
Posted by: Sean Spence is a Beast!!! | November 23, 2009 at 02:35 AM
I'd love a Miami-USC game and I think we could beat them. The ratings would be off the charts. I was actually dreaming of a Miami-Cal rematch last night but that's probably not going to happen. I'd be more worried about a Miami-LSU game, though, but we'd still have a shot. We might get Tennessee, which will be nice because of the Bryce Brown saga. Maybe Northwestern, Wisconsin, or Pitt too.
IMO WE CAN HANG WITH ANYONE! These Canes aren't the Canes of '06 and '07--they have a LOT of heart and keep on playing no matter what. Talent-wise, we could probably hang with anyone outside of the elite teams and we might even hang with those if we kept the mistakes to a minimum. Why do I say this? Cuz every game we've played has been plagued by mistakes. We beat ourselves in the ones we lost and we almost beat ourselves in the ones we almost lost (e.g. Wake Forest, Duke). On the other hand, when we're clicking on all cylinders, we're the only team in the land that punched GT in the mouth!
The future of this program is looking bright. Check out our recruiting watch list: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/um-hurricanes/orl-recruiting-miami-watch-list-072309,0,7498802.htmlpage . We've already reeled in a ton of studs and are in the mix to add a few more.
I told my friend this early last year, around the Florida game, and he thought I was crazy. I told him that 1) Randy would turn this program around, 2) Randy would bring an NC to this U, and 3) Randy would build another Canes dynasty, one that would win MULTIPLE NCs. Why? CUZ HE AINT GOING ANYWHERE!
Randy is the least likely candidate to bolt for the NFL once the U is clicking on all cylinders again. What does that mean? More top recruiting classes, more wins, more top recruiting classes, more wins, so on and so forth. HE'S GOING TO BE A LEGENDARY COACH, A LA BOBBY BOWDEN.
I know it's hard to see it now but he's taking all the right steps to get us there, and he's in the right place to do it too-The U with all of it's mystique and So. Fla., which is LOADED with talent.
So yes, we can take USC. BRING THEM ON!
GO CANES!
--CanesFanStuckInCali
P.S. Here's ESPN's "speed game" version of Miami-Duke '09: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXbgUd06b4s . Not as good as Rusty's but something to calm the nerves until Rusty gets his version up.

That's on point Stuck, cal rematch doesn't sound so bad, but USC and LSU are the money making games!!!! Bring on SC! i wanna play em' so bad to match up against the southern cali west coast speed versus southern flo east coast speed!!!!!
Posted by: Sean Spence is a Beast!!! | November 23, 2009 at 04:29 AM
Stuck, against Tennessee because of the Bryce Brown Saga????
Well, how about LSU with the whole Peterson/Johnson Saga????
Or with USC, with the TJ Bryant Saga????
They too took recruits from us, so we got vendetta against this teams as well!

per Rivals, UM offered JC, Kilgore JC, TE Chase Ford last week. He is said to be 6'6", 245lbs, and with 4.61 speed. Obviously we could use a TE who is ready to play immediately next year. Kilgore is the same place K. Everett came out of.
Happy Monday all.

"Durand Scott will be somewhat similar to Tyreke Evans. Mr New York City is a baller or sure"
Tyreke Evans was Mcdonalds all-american and a lottery pick in the NBA. Lets see how Durand Scott plays out first before anointing that high praise. The man is ballin but the ACC will test to see how great he is. Canes keep winning it just helps there tournament chances because the ACC is going to be tough one. With G Tech looking better, Duke and UNC being who they are and then Wake, Fla St are also very tough. ACC is the best brand of basketball. Lets go Canes...

It's their right and I'm not gonna sit there and judge them or call into question their "fandom" if they boo the team or a player.

Canes were somehow able to over come 23 TOs in that game. The canes desperately need to figure out how to take care of the bball come ACC play or it could get really ugly.
That said, Durand Scott (despite having 5TOs) is going to be the real deal running the point. DJ needs to learn how to take care of the ball better and develop a consistent jump shot. Dews is looking like a legit scoring threat and between him and collins on the inside, it will give them productive senior leadership. It should be an interesting season. Potential to make the tourney this season. We have to protect home court.

I agree with y'all. Everyone has the right to boo . . . but IMO, if that's how you feel about the team or individual players, I'm not sure why would spend the small fortune to park, attend, and drink at the game in the first place. Before you take the trip to "negative town," you can walk around the stadium, have some tequila, change your seat and the team's karma, but booing? Just doesn't make sense. How is that going to help the situation?
Besides, booing is for Gingers. ;-)

after spending a small fortune you wanna cheer but the team u support doesn't hold up it's end of the bargain I think booing is not only acceptable but encouraged.
I don't mind booing, cause after your done booing you just don't care and stop going all together. Which is what happened to our fanbase over years of frustration.

I understand being frustrated about losing, but not a big fan of booing college or highschool (not saying anyone said it) because you have alot of 19, 20, and 21 yr old kids. Cory is only 20 yrs old, what were you doing at 20? I played college ball and really didn't care if anyone booed, but that doesn't make it ok. Yes fans pay to come and route and watch their team play, give it their all. But if your team is giving all they have and are getting beat, shyt, that's part of the game. Someone will loose someone will win. BUT, if your team/player is just being lazy and ain't giving effort, boo the shyt out of them, specially pro's (Cutler, killing my fantasy football team)
